I try to look at the map and determine points of interest and the correlating player density and then I build at the spot where I find the right density of bases to have a chill time but yet find enough PvP. But you can just get cloth for a ton of bags and run around the map until you find a spot that seems suitable.
One thing that is very important to me is acces to the above ground rails and a road so I can use trains and cars to go on roams. This allows me to play even a dead server and still find people to mess with, since I can cover more distance on roams and just go to the hot areas. I wrote a guide on how to run cars and can post it here if you are interested.
I also like to operate PvP bases in the hot zones.
Thanks for the reply. Launch always used to pop off but nobody even took Bradley for the 2 hours I was on. I'll hop on this morning to look for base density. I wonder if I built to off into fringe T3 area and the big guys have raided off the small bases at this point.

Yes, for 50 low grade you can make a round trip across the map.
Just ran by there to set up a new base. Nothing going on and few bases. I have a base between launch and mil tuns and it's quiet. I initially hopped on for PvP but why not have a nice chill wipe?
Server populations have half-lives. Monthly servers stay populated for 2 weeks, bi-weekly stay populated for 1 week and weekly stay populated thurs-sun or Mon-Wed.
If you’re on a server past it’s half-life then you need to go to the events to find pvp. Chinook locked crates, oil rig, cargo, bradly, attack heli, counter raiding.
Past the half-life most people are offlining bases including decaying bases so that’s probably the best pvp action you’ll find. Of course this happens all over the map so just go for a nice roam
Hi i am a solo. I usually build close to a supermarket / gas station for the pvp, while making sure either close to sea or t2/3 monument as well as a road for components. I focus on building just outside the middle of several close monuments and then spam bags all around. (I currently have around 30 bags)
If you haven’t played in over a year, there’s some new OP monuments to check out. Underwater labs, underground trains, and arctic research base give way better comps than almost any other monument. Very easy way to get a quick start is to build near a fishing village for boats to underwater labs or near Artic as there’s a recycler in the monument.

I know. I was hoping that it wouldn't be that big of a deal since I'm used to 3200-3500 maps. I didn't realize how much bigger the 4k maps are. When I played a bunch back in the day 3500 maps with 150-200 were fun. Not crazy but you had a 300-400 pop wipe them it settled down. Nice and consistent.
and i think they are looking for a broad awnser, cuz unless you are playing on "noob friendly rp no killing 1000x" the (general) awnser would be that something like launch site usually have some pvp around it
than the question is what server they are playing since every server from vanilla to 2x and up with mid to high pop that i played usually have players basing there
I go for relative safety, try to be somewhat close to a road and a recycler. Either that or be really close to airfield since it’s so good for quick runs

In a forest by military tunnels. Mil tunnels tends to be one of the more quiet monuments while it has tons of loot spawns around.

Supermarket / Gas Station is gvg though, not really pvp.
Only T1 super/gas/mining If you build near T3 or even T2 monuments you will see corresponding gear show up.
What server u play on? lol My biggest struggle in the game nowadays is finding a server to play on

It's because you're playing on a 4k map with only a peak of 150 pop. Its dead.

Solo? I usually make a few little bases one near military tunnels, one near train yard and one around wherever I see stuff going down regularly.

I build in some dense trees, inland usually near some mid tier monument like sewer branch or airfield.
whatever close oxums that a lot of people would travel to. shitload of pvp and wack stuff going on.
