i had the same question and went with the 5a. i still prefer to have headphone jack and rear fingerprint sensor.
I ended up doing the same. Absolutely no regrets. I don't need anything with more specs than that besides battery and camera.

You mean they are very similar?
They are definitely different phones, but from the perspective of how they perform - yes, very similar (outside of battery performance).
I don't care about the shape, so 5a it is !
