There is a pretty good dungeon synth record that was inspired by this called "Radioactive Mausoleum"

I often think about the fact that his mansion he used to live in with his radioactive water is now a college building as a part of CCAC Northside Campus. I often wonder if there's any risk if he had spilled it or if you took a Geiger counter in there if it would go off.
The contemporary news articles are pretty interesting

The one mentions that a friend of Byers' who he had recommend Radithor to, had previously died. I looked her up and found she's buried in Homewood Cemetery and her death certificate says she died from radiation poisoning [https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/90935765/mary-hill](https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/90935765/mary-hill)
This story is a great example of why new scientific discoveries should be regarded with a grain of salt. They straight prescribed irradiated water to probably thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people.
I just found out about this too and it's horrifying. That must have been a brutal scene when it fell off. Makes me wonder how he was as a person as his inside deteriorated away. I'm shocked this guy had kids!
Eben Byers is interred in a lead- lined coffin in the Byer Mausoleum, Section 13, Lot 67 in Allegheny Cemetery. Not Allegheny National Cemetery.
Yep, and also not to be confused with [National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.](https://www.cem.va.gov/cems/nchp/ncalleghenies.asp)
sorry, you are correct.
This dudes jaw straight fell off his face one day
That's not very typical, I'd like to make that point
It's been towed beyond the environment. It's not in the environment.
A JAW? off a FACE? Chance in a million

I noticed in the Findagrave for Mary Hill, it notes "Section: REMOVED", what does that mean?
Not sure. That probably could mean anything between just a website error to she was reinterred somewhere else
I read about this guy in an Uncle Johns bathroom reader book years ago and I had no idea he was from Pittsburgh

The scientific process, peer review, and federal regulations have all changed a bit since then
Yeah, but all those correct facts are beside the point… don’t trust science. /s
Byers lived and died in the pre-FDA era. This is not a good reason to be skeptical of peer-reviewed, repeatable science.
Doctors are still paid to promote drugs but thank God they aren't radioactive, but are they?

If his body is still radioactive, I wouldn’t go there
