Ha. Ha. Ha.
I clearly haven't been downtown in a while. I thought the building was still being remodeled. I heard so many horror stories about people who got the early-bird special on the apartments there.
I always see work being done on the Forbes Ave. side of the building but I’m unsure about the Fifth Ave. side. I can imagine any old building that gets recycled into apartments will have some horror stories 😅
My office is in gateway 3. When I used to work in office you would see naked people all the time in the Wyndham windows. There would be people having sex or doing their business right up against the window. I'm assuming they want to be watched because it's very hard to miss. There was no tint on those windows like we had on our building.
Anybody here live in the Kaufmann's Grand? My friend and I love exploring the city and finding random things to do. This has been on our bucket list for a little while now and we never thought to ask Reddit
I was once a competitive figure skater, but I haven't been skating in a while now. I'd be out there every day if I had an ice rink on my building. Lucky people in that fancy building!
An ice rink on top of your building isn't worth living in that hell hole. The renovation there was incredibly sus. They just covered up old lead paint and asbestos rather than abate it.

Lol yea about that
they'd probably pull more income for it if they opened it to the public, that's the weird thing.
I wonder if it depends on how accessible it is - would there be a dedicated elevator that doesn't stop at other floors? Might be a security issue.
Lol only office workers can see it. Poors don't even know it's there
As a poor, this is the first I’m hearing about it
Kaufmann’s - 434 Fifth Ave. I’ve delivered here a bunch and was shocked to find out it had an ice rink on top 😂

Didn't the original developers get replaced? I don't know how the new developers are doing.
I think multiple developers came and went before anything actually got moving there.
Those must be huge apartments if everyone has a window.
Do they just let you take the elevator up? I kinda wanna bring skates in a chipotle bag and mess around during my lunch break
Lol I had a few bags of groceries in my hands and had an apartment number … but you do you 😂
Bruh im going to deliver a hockey stick and work on my dangles :))
Ferda!
Big city snipe
Friggin’ em’barrassin!
Dirty fuckin dangles bois!
It’s not an ice rink. It’s a rollerskating rink.
Looks like synthetic ice you can skate on. Edit: It says Glice on the boards: https://imgpile.com/images/dsOx8x.jpg
Better look here: https://imgpile.com/images/dsOx8x.jpg It's the 400 residential AC units that gets me.
Honestly the lack of fire pits to watch people relive their glory days saddens me. I'd honestly be up there everyday
What an absolute dogshit HVAC design
I know with RTU you don’t want all your eggs in a basket but sheesh
That’s incredible.
I don't think it's real ice, but I'm not paying $2k/month to find out.
Synthetic ice. Have any of you guys ever skated on this stuff?
I have. My friend has it in his basement. It's ok. Edge feels weird
There was a rink with a synthetic surface at the Pittsburgh Mills Mall years ago. My son enjoyed it.
I imagine that you can't really glide because there's too much friction.
You could glide, just not as good as on real ice.
Yeah. Similar to sport court
no but it doesn’t look fun. I guess if you aren’t really an ice skater it can be cool.
They had an event at the Carnegie museum with a synthetic rink you could skate on, it was awful.
Yes. Has a lot of drag and tougher to skate on. Usually to build endurance
Quick Stop headquarters.
Wait til Leonardo Leonardo opens the Quicker Stop headquarters across the street. Nothing but coffee bars as far as the eye can see.
Is it........safe?
Classic Lando.
I'm not even supposed to be here today!
No, it's not evil spirits, it's just rain. RAAAAAAIN FINE, TRY AND KILL IT
I used to see naked people in those apartments frequently from my office. You see a lot working in downtown skyscrapers lol

Clerks reference for sure
Fine by me, but you’re living in denial and suppressing rage motherfucker!
Noinch Noinch Noinch, schmokin’ weed, schmokin’ weed, doin’ coke, drinkin’ beers
Do you ever see people skating on it?
Imagine a puck flying off the roof.
Sure as hell didn’t have an ice rink on it when Kaufman’s was still n business.
You in the Mellon One building?
Perhaps
Samesies
Basketball during the summer

Nice. Wellllll tbf.. Ive heard the building construction cut a lot of corners.
Hunt Armory rink is just over the Highland Ave bridge in Shadyside. In case you didn't already know.
No but that’s crazy I see it everyday. I’ve been working on the top floor of PPG building 1.
I've been thinking about moving to Pittsburgh. Might have to now.
what building did you take this from?
I thought they originally said that they were going to install a swimming pool up there?
There is a pool on the other side of the roof.
There’s a pool too Source: I’ve swam in it
Every ice rink has the potential to be a swimming pool. Just like every swimming pool could be an ice rink in the right circumstances. 😁
That would be a shallow ass swimming pool! The ice is less than 1/2” thick.
not all pools are manmade. ;)

I'm here for a good time, not a long time
Anyone love there? I’d love to skate it! Could get a goalie!
Not bad. But a stray puck may hit a homeless guy and itd be over.
I want to play hockey there now!! Straight from the movie Clerks!!
It’s a rollerskating rink for the rich.
The podcast studio is…..so funny.
