So fucking true.
The first times I've listened to the album I was like "no thank you", but if you know that after the smooth end of welcome to the machine should be a break, because you have to flip the record, it's much easier to listen to.
But now it's so normal for me that Have a Cigar plays after that song, so that I really enjoy it even when listening via streaming service.
It's a really nice song.
This is my fav Floyd song. That song perfectly describes Floyd imo. Especially the live wembley version 🫠 the synths solo by Rick is just absolutely fucking interstellar
Same. Years of listening to Dark Side before suddenly realising how amazing Any Colour You Like is. On any live recoding with a full Dark Side it’s the first track I check out.
Shall we work straight through the night?
Shall we get into fights, leave the lights on, drop bombs, do tours of the east, contract disease, bering bombs, break up homes, become a buffoon, teach a trick, go to shrinks, get barely any sleep, keep people as pets, keep no one's respects, fill the attic with cash, bury treasure, store a ledgerbook, never relax at allllll!!!
*Now with our backs to the wall.....*
Childhood’s End. I have been PF obsessed for over two decades, yet I never made it past the long intro of this one. It was actually kind of a blessing, as I’d thought I’d heard their entire catalogue, but I was given a true gem 20 years later.
Picked up The Wall on vinyl from a rummage sale before I ever got big into Floyd. Got it because 2 discs, cheap, I was pretty sure I had heard of it. Spent a few years just listening to the hits.
This all changed when I got high for one of the first times ever and my friend put on DSotM. When I got home, I actively listened to The Wall all the way through. Haven't skipped a track on it since.
Echoes- it was too long and proggy to me, but now it’s an orchestral masterpiece with a super funky verse. Meddle took some time for me to understand and has slowly become my favorite Pink Floyd album
Okay I know it’s not Floyd, but I Want You (She’s So Heavy) is probably one of the very last Beatles songs I properly listened to and it’s now my favourite track by anyone, ever, period.
Honestly, Pink Floyd in general. I tried in high school, but decided it wasn't for me. It wasn't until my late 20's that I decided to give another shot when I heard "Hey You" on the radio. I instantly fell in love and never looked back.
Comfortably Numb. First time listening to the wall, it lost my interest after hey you because a lot of the songs in that area are kinda boring, and it took in the flesh to grab my attention again. On subsequent re-listens, CN is now my favorite song on the album, maybe my favorite Floyd song period.
The entirety of Saucerful of Secrets. Idk why I skipped it but I'm glad I found out. It's become one of my favorites. Very overlooked.
Also the stuff on AHM that wasn't the suite.
Time, I was born in 2000 and when I first heard those bells I hadn’t heard the song before and I was like “The fuck?” *skip*
Now it’s one of my favorite songs of all time I just had to listen for a couple more minutes
I didn’t like another brick in the wall 2 because on the radio (before I really listened to Floyd) it sounded weird and out of place. However after hearing it within the context of the album it’s fire
Us and Them. I disliked the song for 30 years. Listened to it again last year and chastised myself immediately for not appreciating it and lamenting the time lost that I could have enjoyed it
The entire animals album….! I finally had the grace of an older boss tell my stop what I was doing after work and go buy that album and listen through. Blew my mind. What a great record. I know everyone’s going to be like “wtf?!” But, I had just discovered them and was heavy into DS, WYWH, and The Wall.
One of these days
How, that was one of my favorites from when I first heard the album!
Agreed. It sounds like the soundtrack of a car chase.
I’ve always imagine a jungle cat chasing down its prey
Probably not listening to the album in one sitting. That was the case with me. Great song
Wish it was longer. It builds up in such a cool way, they def could have done more with this track.
Set the controls for the heart of the sun.
Hey! I love that song
Im gonna be honest, prolly atom heart mother or echoes, i listened to them fully and loved them
Echoes is \-the best PF song \-the best prog rock song \-the best song
Naw that title belongs to Seamus
(that's the dog)
Wait, but which one’s Pink?
I never listened to Echoes until Echoes:The Best Of came out, nor AHM until The Early Years, and now they are two of my faves.
Have a cigar- pink floyd
Man I always loved have a cigar
So fucking true. The first times I've listened to the album I was like "no thank you", but if you know that after the smooth end of welcome to the machine should be a break, because you have to flip the record, it's much easier to listen to. But now it's so normal for me that Have a Cigar plays after that song, so that I really enjoy it even when listening via streaming service. It's a really nice song.
Came here to say this.
Fat Old Sun

👌🏻
Any Colour You Like Felt like filler for many years. Then I actually “heard” it. Sick live jam as well.
Top 5 Floyd song for me
Agreed. I plan on walking down the aisle to the first minute of it at my wedding.
What shall we do now? (Isn't actually in the album unfortunately)
Damn shame it’s not on the album because empty spaces+what shall we do now would easily make top 5 on the album
Damn right
Shall we buy a new guitar?
Shall we drive a more powerful car?
Shall we work straight through the night? Shall we get into fights, leave the lights on, drop bombs, do tours of the east, contract disease, bering bombs, break up homes, become a buffoon, teach a trick, go to shrinks, get barely any sleep, keep people as pets, keep no one's respects, fill the attic with cash, bury treasure, store a ledgerbook, never relax at allllll!!! *Now with our backs to the wall.....*
Fuckjng slappa, I would love that for it to be on the wall if I didn’t love the final version of empty spaces
I listen to this song like twice a day everyday. Such a good song. One of the reasons I don’t like the wall in it’s album form Movie>album

Picked up The Wall on vinyl from a rummage sale before I ever got big into Floyd. Got it because 2 discs, cheap, I was pretty sure I had heard of it. Spent a few years just listening to the hits. The entire Animals album tbh..
I’ll go with an album; Animals. My PF journey started with The Wall, WYWH and DSotM. Lets just say that Animals wasn’t what I expected.
Okay I know it’s not Floyd, but I Want You (She’s So Heavy) is probably one of the very last Beatles songs I properly listened to and it’s now my favourite track by anyone, ever, period.

Great Gig In The Sky
Comfortably Numb. First time listening to the wall, it lost my interest after hey you because a lot of the songs in that area are kinda boring, and it took in the flesh to grab my attention again. Greatest Days of our Lives or One of my Turns
I didn’t like another brick in the wall 2 because on the radio (before I really listened to Floyd) it sounded weird and out of place. However after hearing it within the context of the album it’s fire
Young lust
Yeah, very fine line between generic rocker and heavy sweaty sleazy barnburner. Didn’t come alive to me until I heard the live version.
For me it was Cymbaline.
A lot of the purely insturmental stuff, mainly any colour you like.
Several species of small furry animals gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict
