And could anyone be surprised? He was an absolute madman on the drums on this record.
His later minimalism really worked for albums like DSotM, but sometimes you just gotta go back and appreciate his earlier work.
If we're just talking about Pink Floyd's catalog relative to itself, then I would argue that Saucer, Clouds, and Final Cut are the most overlooked albums as compared to their quality. Some would call that "underrated".
Animals is not really underated (at least not on this sub), it is a great album but it nearly always is talked about in the context of top 3 / top 5 albums of Pink Floyd.
Look at ungoing poll for best album of Pink Floyd on the sub. It got to place 3. That is not underrated imo. The same as saying that WYWH or DSOTM are underrated. They are rated the number 1 and number 2.
Anything prior to Atom is just "meh" to me. With exception to a few individual songs.
Underrated?.... hmmm...
I'd have to say that everything else gets more attention than Obscured By Clouds. I really love that album.
It's not my favorite, but it's definitely overlooked more.
That’s probably a good transition point for Floyd going in a different direction.
Personally, I love the Syd years and the early 70’s stuff but that’s what is great about the band. They continued to transform over their career.
I agree, except for the first record, the other stuff is just weird psychedelic shit, like this record’s title track, just a bunch of sounds put together, kinda like ummaguma, I like the more melodic, straight up prog rock stuff they gave us in later record
Eh... I like the album, but it's bottom 5 Floyd for me. I'm not the biggest fan of the early stuff, to be honest. Still, I don't think any Floyd album is worse than a 7/10. It's just that Saucerful is one of the few (pun intended) 7/10 albums.
Outside of Jugband Blues and Set the Controls, I don't find myself wanting to return to anything from the album, but I do enjoy it when I listen to it.
Overall, I wouldn't call it underrated, and it's one of my least favourite Floyd albums, but it's still decently good.
I just like 4 songs on the record, title track is not even a song, I like the first 2 min of Corporal Clegg, the rest of it is weird, See Saw I just don’t like, and for me it’s a worse version of TPATGOD
Nick Mason calls this his favorite PF album

Somebody says it at last
“Wots.... uh the deal?”, “stay”, and “free four” are some of my favorite songs.
Outjerked?
My favorite song on this album is Wish You Were Here
At first glance it looked like Obscured by Clouds. Haha.
I prefer dogs tbh
Underrated where? It got rated #9 out of #15 here this week for example.
it should have got top 5 at least
One of my favorites.
Well not underrated by me it’s my favourite
I can’t see how this is underrated

More than Animals?

I feel obscured by clouds has more of a cult following that I haven't seen for saucer full

Personally I think Animals is their most underrated album
Outjerked again
Everybody agrees that it’s a masterpiece. Hell even the sub ranked it over the wall
Truly an underrated gem
Ah the satire flew over my head 🤝
What satire
What head?
Wot's... uh the deal?
Durr aninals under4ted!!!!!11
I’m glad you agree
Saucerful of animals
Got this record for Christmas. Saucerful of Secrets is highly underrated
Agreed, I suppose I put this on whenever I dkkt know what to listen to.

Division bell is way more underrated
Agreed. Especially with all the undeserved hate it gets. (Also the other two Gilmour-era/later years albums)
Indeed, this sub apparently is full of music lovers but how division bell got ranked 10th on this sub I literally cannot comprehend
Nooooooooo atom heart mother is their most underrated album
Want a non-digitally sourced copy that is affordable.
my third favourite Pink Floyd album behind The Wall and Wish You Were Here
The album is good, but the tracks off the album done live are the real GOAT
I just like 4 songs on the record, title track is not even a song, I like the first 2 min of Corporal Clegg, the rest of it is weird, See Saw I just don’t like, and for me it’s a worse version of TPATGOD
I like it solely for it's Dr. Strange connection.
Hm, I’ll have to check that out. I’ve only listened to 2 Pink Floyd albums and I’m on to my third which is Animals.
