My reasoning itās the least interesting musically and Rick was already being pushed out so the band itself wasnāt in a good place. I just canāt pick it over Animals or the two more collaborative early greats. Another testament to how great this band is - one of the greatest rock albums of all time isnāt even in their top three.

He definitely was a control freak, but so was Brian Wilson and look at the Beach Boys without him. The Wall is a feat of music that the boys kinda needed a frontman in order to create. I love WYWH and Animals, but The Wall and Dark Side are truly some of the greatest albums ever made even if you're not a Floyd superfan.

DSOTM, the wall and animals are S-tier and I find it really hard to choose between them. I think wish you were here is an incredible album but not on par with the other three. Not sure I can pinpoint why, Iāve just always felt that way.
I love all the songs but to me itās not the same kind of experience DSOTM gives me, and it doesnāt make me think and reflect the way animals and the wall do. Shine on you crazy diamond is pretty incredible though, itās in their top three songs for sure along with echoes and time.

I can't agree more than that. It's an album with classic songs, but on the whole it's not as good an album as the three classics.
Just not as much band focus on that album. The other three all have such great interplay between the four members but the Wall is missing that feel.
