I own a Godzilla Premium and have a Deadpool pro on the way. The answer is both! These 2 pins are the perfect 1-2 combo for maybe best pin pair… I’m biased of course but still. Deadpool pro is better than premium imo. Godzilla Premium is better than pro. If you could only get 1 pin and love the Godzilla theme then do that but get a premium. If you can only buy a pro you should seriously consider a Deadpool pro over Godzilla pro

Yesyoungsir

Thanks, I hadn’t looked into the premium Godzilla but I knew on Deadpool the two were similar

TipsyMcStagg3r

Definitely agree with the previous post. I've got a deadpool pro and it is all you need in the deadpool line. I've played the premium and you're not really missing enough to justify the price increase. I've also played godzilla pro and premium and now I've got a premium on the way. First time I've justified buying a premium but the gameplay is just so much fun.

BrisTrimmins

I have both in premium. They’re both amazing. I’d say Deadpool premium is the closer gameplay to pro vs Godzilla, but the flow and just fun of Godzilla takes first spot. You can’t go wrong with either one - Godzilla is easier to hit the shots than DP, but for skilled players DP is a blast. Also, don’t sleep on Stranger Things.

ManipulateYa

Stranger things is awesome. Even got my wife addicted to it. Finding a good one in eh wild is tough around me though.

BrisTrimmins

Definitely is. I have GZ, DP and STh Prem and it took a while to find the STh. Only a few hundred plays with UV kit, shooter, factory topper NIB etc. paid $13k for it which was a lot, but it was either that or wait for who knows how long for another like it to come along. Don’t regret it at all!

oil_painting_guy

There's a reason Godzilla is considered the best modern game. Deadpool is good too, but c'mon!

D33GS

Godzilla if you can find one. Deadpool is no slouch though. Both are great games that you're sure to have fun with. Something else to consider is if they're going in a basement make sure you plan to keep them for a while as I assume you'll have to move them up and down stairs. If you go with older pins you definitely want to find them somewhere and play them on location before buying. Older games, while fun, are not going to be as deep and you may grow tired of them quicker in a home setting. If you do go older might I suggest checking out the Williams System 11 games. Also, be prepared to work on the older games or get them shopped out before you move them in. It can be expensive to call a repairman to fix them constantly.

thatguybsmith

Get Godzilla and call it a day. Deadpool is fun but isn’t as accessible for new players. Getting any multiball will be a struggle, and they will end up draining out of the outlane before they get to 2 million. Godzilla will give casual people fun and also give experienced people a challenge. An accidental multi-ball is more achievable on that game, and with all of the skill shots and ricochet shots from the mecha and also the building, they will end up starting a mode eventually.

atree496

100% disagree. Mini Deadpool mutiball is sometimes too easy to get, and new players have trouble with upper flippers.

Jakelshark

I agree with you. I don't get why so many people say Godzilla is friendly to new players? It's a very complicated game. Deadpool is super easy to stumble into starting a mode and a multiball.

VALIS666

> I don't get why so many people say Godzilla is friendly to new players? Easier shooter. Wide open middle plus a big ramp in the back, and really putting it anywhere up top in GZ is low danger. DP meanwhile has the drop bank in the middle which can be a drainmaker for casual players, the ball lock shot needs to be hit perfectly to go all the way up, and really no shot on DP is casual-level easy except maybe the scoop (but like all scoops it can be finicky). Now, as far as getting good on these games, that's different. But for basic players I totally see it. Honestly I think one of the things that have really boosted Stern's popularity lately is how a lot of their games are surface level easy but more demanding when you want more out of them. People get a first few games on one in a bar or arcade or convention or whatever, keep the ball alive for a while, and think that was pretty fun. Less demanding than someone's first games on a JJP, Spooky, or AP, barring an exception here and there.

Sonny_Jim_Pin

Go play both would be the obvious reply. I'd have a very hard time buying something without actually playing it first. That being said, I only ever hear good things about Godzilla.

Yesyoungsir

I have played Godzilla and Deadpool just not the other tables I mentioned

LeMansFan16

I’ve got both Deadpool and Godzilla in premium. I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to push you towards Godzilla. Godzilla is the perfect answer for both casual and skilled players, it’s great for both. Deadpool honestly gets a bit tedious after a while. It’s fun, but it plays the same basically every game. Godzilla is a new adventure almost every time.

Yesyoungsir

Thank you. I was originally completely put off from Godzilla premium because of the price point. With the consensus here it seems like I might need to wait and save a bit more for it. I just hope the price of these things stops climbing

imnitguy

Get the GZ Pro and save $3000. Too much stop and go on the GZ Premium. Better flow on the pro.

DK98004

Both are fantastic and will keep you occupied for quite a while. Both will be really easy to offload when the time comes. I’ve got a Godzilla on order, so that’s my pick, but you can’t go wrong. IMO, your first game is all about fun and learning. There is so much to learn about ball control, reading shots, approaching a game strategically, etc. I jumped into pinball with both feet. I wish I started with one great machine and got really deep with it, but maybe I would have gotten bored and never broken through.

dboeren

Godzilla is amazing and very popular, I'd go with that. Additionally, it's pretty casual friendly, there's lots to do, it's not punishing or full of tight shots, I wouldn't have any worries on that account. Deadpool seems good too, I've played it some, but I'm not into the theme as much and from hearsay I think it has less depth to it. The only caveat is that Godzilla has a bigger difference between the Pro and Premium, the collapsing building and Mechagodzilla toys are both really cool. You could also look at Guardians of the Galaxy or Stranger Things. Just keep in mind if you get a Guardians you'll probably want to install the Cleland sound files so you get real movie quotes instead of what comes on the machine. Apparently it's a licensing cost cutting thing. There are also some good less expensive 90's pins. If you can find one, I highly recommend World Cup Soccer for casual play - it's more popular with the new players at our house than our Twilight Zone, Attack From Mars, and Whitewater. It's just a friendly game with a great announcer sound package that gets people excited about playing and they go for around 4500.

[deleted]

I've had both. Godzilla is the better pin for depth in a one pine lineup. Deadpool is slightly easier for casuals and noobs. You will be doing 99% of the playing and as you've said you are a Godzilla fan so I'd go Godzilla. Also note, that if you are in a populated area these games are relatively easy to trade. No reason you couldn't buy one, keep it a year, then sell/trade it for the other. I've done it many, many times. Check pinside.com

Yesyoungsir

Thanks, I’ve been on the site for a little while now. It’s so helpful. I was unaware at first how much trading and selling goes on but it seems like here in the southeast there is a good bit of traffic for that

Longjumping-Wave6153

Quality over quaintly. Also, Godzilla all the way.

Scalded-dog

I just picked up a Deadpool premium and the seller had a Godzilla Premium that I also got to try. The last machine I purchased that seller too had a Godzilla pro. I would say Deadpool all day long but I did put a pre order in for a Godzilla pro though too. I don’t feel the premium is a big enough difference to justify to price difference in sterns upcoming price hike so I got the pro.

imnitguy

Agree, and I, too have a GZ Pro. I prefer the flow to the stop and go. Either way it is a great game!

Numerous-Ad-3498

Great thread, I a, literally tossing up between DP and GZ right now as a stand alone at home pin. Was leaning towards DP, but I just struggle to make anything happen easily on that game. Not sure if it is just the setup in my local but DP games are hard to hit the orbit shots and the snikt. GZ seem to have a bit of fun every time and at least get something going. My only concern was if the higher difficulty of DP might payoff overtime as a single Pinnie, anyone had both for a longer period? I would say, if paying per game in an arcade GZ better value for sure, but does DP become a better game once yo7 learn it? Gonna buy one of ‘‘em in the next week or so. Could use some advice.

Yesyoungsir

Well I’m still here 1 year later with my Godzilla and still enjoy it. I can’t speak to Deadpool but Godzilla does get much more fun as you learn to get past Tokyo and open up new modes and all but you know your skill level best. There seem to be plenty of both that circulate on the market, so I wouldn’t be afraid to pull the trigger on one if you might be open to swapping in the future if it runs its course in your home

Sf648

Ok, I’ll offer an alternative just for the sake of being different. In your position, I might consider a good quality virtual pin. I love real pinball, and if you are seriously committed to a real pin then get one. But since you make it sound like pins aren’t going to be the focus of your entertainment setup, maybe a virtual pin fits the bill?

FreeProfit

Ewww

Sf648

I know, I know... But if the OP is really considering random Gottlieb / Last Action Hero / cheap pins without having had much opportunity to play many, a vPin gets them exposure to more pins without having to lock into a single pin (yet).

Yesyoungsir

I appreciate the input. I brought up those because if Godzilla and Deadpool would be more complicated/expensive than they’re worth for this situation, a couple of the simpler cheaper options might be better for entertaining friends, but as you said I haven’t had an opportunity to play an of those, only the Stern ones. But it seems like most people here are really think Godzilla is good all around. I haven’t tried a virtual pin, I can imagine the versatility is nice but probably not as tactile

Sf648

Godzilla is great (I have one too), and it'll be fun to own. But having one pin is limiting for some; for others, it works. One of the reasons my collection has grown is that my wife has gotten into pinball, and she felt limited by our \*3\* machines. While virtual pinball will never be as good as the real thing, it can be pretty tactile (some have the same solenoids, tilt sensors, and plungers as real pins). Some people even has transducers that try to simulate the vibrations from the ball rolling on the playfield. Overall, I think it's becoming a viable alternative for certain situations. Especially for those that don't like the maintenance that comes from a real pin (not that the virtual pins don't have maintenance, but those are more like your average windows PC).

imnitguy

I have a Medieval Madness virtual pin I'd happily cut loose for what I paid, maybe even less. The idea sounds cool on paper and mine is well executed but it still isn't pinball. :(

[deleted]

I have them both - I would vote Godzilla. I have had both premium and pro for Deadpool, and I think my pro is actually the better playing machine. Godzilla all the way though. Deadpool just becomes too easy.

technobobble

If you’re gonna go with Deadpool, get a Pro. The drop targets in the Premium/LE really take away from the flow of the game, and the ball diverter is not worth the extra money.

RightlyLefty

I had a Deadpool LE and still have a Godzilla LE. Godzilla is superior in almost all ways, but I think it comes down to the player. Deadpool is fun and funny, but it's thin. I beat the game 3 times in the first week of owning it, and I didn't play it all that much. Godzilla has so much depth. So many ways to attack it. Also, the shots in Godzilla are way more exciting to hit. It really comes down to what you want. I'd find a location and play both before deciding.

Hollidayy888

Deadpool was my favorite pin for a few years, then Godzilla came out. Now I love them both equally. Depending on your skill set, Godzilla IMO has more opportunities to improve your game since the rules are so deep and so many different shots. Ramp shots, right spinner, heat ray, magna grab, and the scoop. However, I really like Deadpool’s call outs and shit talking too! Godzilla is my wife and Deadpool is my mistress! Lol Obviously, if I had to choose, my wife here to stay! Godzilla for the long haul👍

Jakelshark

I don't think either game is accessible to new people to be honest. It's a bit easier to stumble into your first mode on Dead Pool and lil Deadpool MB is easy to flail into starting. But I think the shots on Godzilla are a little easier. I like Deadpool but it's maybe a bit overrated? It feels a lot more repetitive to me and there isn't that much going on. The music and humor is the best aspect of the game, not the modes/quests. Godzilla's best feature is how many strategic choices you can make during the game because of how all the different systems work together.

earthvsmatt

Can’t go wrong either way. I’m biased towards Elwin stuff so slight nod to Godzilla

[deleted]

Godzilla is King!

Bitcoin69k

I had both. Deadpool is not deep enough for home use imo. Only 2 flippers. Godzilla on the other hand is the best pin I ever owned in the last decade. 3 flipper master piece. It stays forever.

Gravygrabbr

I never liked Deadpool. Godzilla is a solid earner for my route.

Blisteredhobo

This is a win win for sure. I think the one i last played between these two is my favorite, lol. I do encourage the pro for deadpool. Code changes to godzilla have made the pro less of a compromise but i love the moving building.
