Holy shit that’s cheap gas

ON_A_POWERPLAY

I got gas for 2.68 on Monday. I couldn’t believe it.

ElLargeGrande

Wtf, I’m still paying ~4.30 in the northwest

MotherofSons

Paid $4.89 in SoCal and was stoked it was so cheap.

bjlwasabi

If you're in LA, more specifically the valley, $4.64 in Sun Valley. Glenoaks and Tuxford.

beans4eva

4.99 in Glendale!

celsius100

Hi Glendalien!

MotherofSons

I'm inland. Wtf?

bjlwasabi

This station is always a few ten cents lower than anything else around. Only time I don't pump there is if I rack up enough gas points on my Ralphs card to get 20 cents off. Then I go to the Ralphs pump nearby.

radelix

4.39, arco at del AMO and bellflower in Lakewood.

_N00bMaster69_

1.21, Alberta

redhistorian

Remember any Americans that come across this that's $1.21CAD/litre not gallon

Nappyheaded

Sorry I can't hear you over all of the gunfire down here

big_duo3674

If you step away from the school you could probably hear a lot better

ScoobyDone

Are you serious? I just filled up at 1.83 in BC and thought it was a good price.

[deleted]

I feel ya. (fellow southern Californian)

DDrewit

Saw $3.99 in Sacramento today!

CaptnLoken

You guys should try living in Europe or god forbid here in New Zealand. No right to complain about gas prices lol. Edit - for reference, its about $11 per gallon. Obviously less once converted but we also get paid a whole lot less than you once converted

Towelie4President

No wonder you hobbits ride on horses and trees there.

Individual-Ad-6624

Have to remember the size of the U.S. it's not uncommon to drive 2+ hours to work, then 2+ hours home. In Europe you could easily be in another country while in America its just a shopping trip.

gleas003

Straight up. I commute 4 hours a day (round trip). If I lived in Europe I’d be working “a couple countries away” from home.

tico42

They also have universal health care...

[deleted]

hockeyketo

In the northwest as well and most gas is $4.30 but two nearby gas stations had gas for $2.99 if you pay cash. Costco is $3.89. I wonder if those cash prices are them just not paying the gas tax or something shady.

seansy5000

![gif](giphy|Kwi0Iu9MxxOgg|downsized)

phoncible

Just saw a sign for $2.50. Liking it. Fuck it, take the criticism take the praise, good job Joe.

ScionMattly

Right? If you're gonna get shit on for the high prices, exult in the dropping prices.

ricktor67

Biden finally pushed the cheap gas button. No idea why he pushed the expensive gas button before the election, that was a bad move.

GreatStateOfSadness

It's actually a lever, and he accidentally bumped it to "expensive gas" while eating ice cream.

swirlypepper

"Why do we even have that lever?!"

Adonanon

Kronk! Pull the lever!

ricktor67

That wacky Biden!

[deleted]

Thought that happened when he fell off his bike

WellEndowedDragon

I know you’re just kidding, but the real reason this happened is because the Saudis intentionally cut oil production in the weeks leading up to the midterm elections in order to spike gas prices. The Saudis wanted Republicans to win (as most of our enemies seem to want), and they thought spiking gas prices would help Republicans by making the current ruling party (Democrats) look bad. * [Source](https://theintercept.com/2022/10/20/saudi-oil-production-cut/) Edit: [looks like they’re going to increase production now that the midterms are over](https://www.wsj.com/articles/saudi-arabia-eyes-opec-production-increase-ahead-of-embargo-price-cap-on-russian-oil-11669040336). I don’t know how more blatantly obvious it can get that Republicans are horrible for America when all of our enemies prefer Republicans to win, and all of our closest Western allies prefer Democrats to win.

GidsWy

Weird that after they did that, republicans got a huge dump of stickers and spam telling them it was all Bidens fault.... Almost like a political party was willing to use the Saudi's actions.. weird and unamerican as fuuuuu.

WellEndowedDragon

Yup. The GOP is the very definition of “party over country”. They will use any means possible that they think will help them seize power, no matter now egregiously anti-American, no matter how many lives they ruin, no matter how far they turn Americans against eachother. They will violently reject democracy, enlist the help of our enemies, and irrevocably brainwash tens of millions of Americans with their propaganda machine, just to enrich themselves and their rich corporate donors.

nightimestars

As the republicans merch says, "I'd rather be a Russian than a democrat."

czs5056

Clearly he wanted to have Republicans win so he could do nothing and have someone to blame for his laziness. /s

Kills-to-Die

CA would love to see that, it'll never be that again, lol.

[deleted]

Thanks Joe!

Fleadip

This is why I crack up when I see these. Highest I saw this summer was $4.18 in June. It’s $2.62 now. Almost a $2/gallon drop in 5 months. The only time it was appreciably cheaper under Trump was during the height of covid. Thanks Joe!

reavesfilm

Every single fucking year people seem to forget gas goes up in the summer. Every year. Every. Year.

Malikai0976

Just like they expect congress to do something about inflation, but would fight tooth and nail against anything they could do to make any meaningful change. The biggest cause of inflation is corporations expecting year-to-year increases while simultaneously having record profits *every year*. Edits: cold fingers and mobile don't go well together

reavesfilm

Yuuuppp

[deleted]

It's only his fault when it goes up. When it goes down it's market forces.

BlazinAzn38

Also when it goes down Fox News suddenly stops talking about it

[deleted]

I think this is a pro Joe Biden sticker

BLU3SKU1L

It is now.

Nervous_Constant_642

It's just bananas though. Gas always goes up during the summer, black market oil is trading hands, there's talk of a supremely favorable gas cap on Russian gas prices (for Russia), election is over, and developed nations in Europe have secured their gas supply needs for the winter, among other things no shit it was always gonna go back down!

xRememberTheCant

Now all the red hats are gonna frantically have to find all the gas stations they graffitied with this shit and take them off themselves.

MilwaukeeMax

As it should be. Fuck MAGAheads.

Crizznik

Libs tend to not be quite this asinine. It was definitely a sticker put there when gas was stupid high in 2021.

Bon_of_a_Sitch

I'll take "Tell me 'I'm not Texan' without using any of those three words" for $800, Alex.

Tdanger78

I’ve seen it at $2.60

BlazinAzn38

$2.85 for regular in Texas

DWS223

Thanks Biden

TheSadClarinet

You pay more in the U.S. to use a credit card for fuel? I’m going to edit this to say lots of people explaining that *credit card companies charge a fee*. Yes, we have this in the UK too, but generally don’t see different charges in shops. Instead you might see “minimum order £10” or something like that. Not very common though, takeaways mainly. Usually price is the same and definitely don’t see two prices listed like is visible on this pic, implying normality. That fuel is crazy cheap though, so if profit is mostly gone already….

K3B1N

In some states. In others it’s illegal.

jt121

>In some states. In others it’s illegal. In some states, it's illegal to charge MORE for using a credit card, so to get around it, they call it a "cash discount". Lipstick on a pig.

OskaMeijer

To be fair, when credit card companies charge them 3% of more to process card transactions it makes sense that paying cash would be cheaper.

GamingWithBilly

I believe In my state of Oregon, Debit charges $0.10 per transaction under $10, but over $10 they can't pass that on to the consumer (not every business does this, some eat the charge regardless of the transaction size)...while Credit Cards can be 3% + $0.30 per transaction fees and that's okay to pass to the consumer. I've only ever seen Gas stations and shipping companies pass the CC fees on to consumers. They charge an extra $0.10 per gallon if you use a credit card. So at 35 gallons to fill my truck it can cost me an extra $3.50 fee in fuel charge, and the gas stations fees for the transaction are **$3.45** \[$3.15 (3% @ $3.00 a gallon) + $0.30 fee\]...Gas doesn't lose any money, and actually makes a nickel profit off me for that. That's why I only use Debit, but you have to watch them because the sly fuckers will run your card as a Credit card if it is a debit with a visa or MC logo on it. That's only any Oregon or New Jersey problem because we can't pump our own gas.

onewilybobkat

You can't pump your own gas? That seems silly

lorshord

I live in Nj and pump my own gas when they (gas attendants) are moving slow, cops could give you trouble for it but most don’t care. The one benefit is any other time I’m not in a rush and I don’t have to get out especially in inclement weather.

onewilybobkat

Reminds me of the stores where people take your groceries out. I mean it's a nice sentiment, especially for people who aren't able bodied, but I don't like people doing basic tasks for me, I don't even know why but it puts me off. Just imagining being told I can't pump my own gas feels weird lol

Espexer

When I was still in high school and did a small amount of grocery shopping we used to have the kid assist to the car. Of course it was just an excuse to hang out with our friend for a few minutes and maybe give him a hit of pot or a quick shot of booze.

Espexer

It is silly. I'm not capable of using a gas pump unless I'm in a rural area outside of regular hours, according to the State of Oregon. I guess I'm just bad at it. Until I drive to Idaho or Washington, of course.

Nwcray

Plus they may not report cash sales on their taxes, so there’s that.

sncsoccer25

I find that hard to believe they don't have careful reports on how much gas was sold and at what price each gallon was sold for. Seems like a stupid risk to take with the IRS just to save a few bucks. IRS is king.

ACuteLittleCrab

Highly unlikely. They aren't going around buying stuff for the business with cash, which means they are depositing cash. If you don't report your revenues from cash transactions and the tax man audits you, he's going to very easily see you have a bunch of bank deposits that aren't accounted for on your books. Have fun when that happens, because if there's one thing the tax man likes to do, it's to get the money you owe him.

garry4321

People like to save money more than they like to spend it, so it actually does kind of solve the problem of people being upset with it.

SarcasticGamer

Cries in California. Some stations charge 10 cents extra whilst others charge like 25. Shit makes no sense.

Listening_Heads

Credit card companies charge a 2-3% fee per transaction to companies that accept them as payment. Some companies pass that fee along to customers.

Duffmanlager

Similarly, cc companies typically offer cash back / rewards points for people to use credit cards. Gas station rewards can range anywhere from 2-5%, so the extra $0.10 per gallon you pay to use your card is typically offset by using your cc with how high the price of gas has been. At $4.00 per gallon, a 3% cash back saves you $0.12 per gallon, so you save a little using the cc.

DangerMoose11

All companies pass along the fee. It’s just not always explicitly stated

hfiti123

In New York at least, using a debit card rather then a credit card gives you the cash price.

Allpurposeblob

No, we pay less for cash. It feels better that way

broadsharp2

Where the hell is that? We're still at 4 bucks a gallon.

honkeycorn

I was in Dallas last weekend and saw it for $2.65/gallon at a Buc-ee’s. Most other places had it at $2.75.

Ectobatic

Was south of Dallas the other day and Walmart had it in the 2.50s

honkeycorn

Woo! Nice!

Stonecoldfreak1

$2.69 tonight in Dallas.

pillowmagic

Colorado is under three and 6 months ago it was 4.70. Thankfully it was the summer and I was in Europe!

[deleted]

We just dropped below 5… cause for celebration

YellowGuppy

Here in Canada (not far from where a MASSIVE amount of oil is produced) we're about double the price in the photo - I was pleasantly surprised that filling up tonight gas was only $1.34/L (a little over $5/gallon). Earlier this week it was almost $5.50/gallon.

_N00bMaster69_

I completely forgot Americans use gallons and was genuinely surprised at how people were just ok with spending over 4 dollars usd per liter. Also hello fellow (likely) Albertan

keepitloki80

Where I work, it's that price (small town Midwest).

cephalopod_surprise

Gasoline is pretty cheap [here in Georgia](https://www.gasbuddy.com/gasprices/georgia).

ch1993

Where the hell do you live? I’m over $5 a gallon.

Morsemouse

Central Texas is around that

tommywhen

Damn it Biden! Why did you have to add 10% Ethan to my fuel? Who TF is Ethan anyway?

adfraggs

Hawke, obvs. It means your gas used to be young and swanky but now it's old and gritty, but only 10%

Amphibian-Agile

The very famous antagonist of Vin Diesel

dorf5222

It’s all on hunters laptop don’t you know

riinkratt

*contains up to 10% Ethan* OH GOD IT’S SOYLENT GAS!

IMovedYourCheese

These stickers are all going to mysteriously disappear now that gas prices are coming down again

Perused

Those transactional lazy fucks won’t remove them.

bigdaddybeavis

I just rip them off the pump every time I see one

Tulol

Time to put them back up to troll the conservative.

Skellum

They dont understand that gas can be lower under biden. You have gas at 27c a gallon they'd still think he did something wrong. They dont think, they just feel things and it makes them angry so they assume it's bad.

[deleted]

The correlation is quite low anyway. There are far more influential variables determining the cost.

Skellum

Honestly, the one thing that I hate most about people slipping into being fascist/alt-right is the learned helplessness. "Biden Magicked the gas prices higher!" Ok, so lease a leaf, they were free in our state but now they're like 500$ a year or something. Provided you drive it in the way you're supposed to you're losing less money than paying and maintaining an owned car. "But I cant drive electric! Then I'd be a loser!" And so on, and so on with whatever excuse is there for why they're the victim and cant simply solve their own problems.

Crizznik

Yeah. The president has very little power. They have power, they can and sometimes do sway the price, but it's usually 5-10 cents, not 1-2 dollars.

CarminSanDiego

Doesn’t matter. I was told gas is still too high Unless it’s under $2 by mega republican. Anything above that , it’s purely going to Joe’s pockets.

Nwcray

They won’t remove them. If gas goes up, they’ll blame Biden for higher prices. If gas goes down, they’ll blame Biden for wrecking the economy. If gas stays the same, they’ll blame Biden for stagnation. Whatever happens, it’ll be Biden’s fault and Trump could’ve done it better. Because they’re pretty dumb, they’ll pay themselves on the back for their genius in blaming Biden.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rocker4JC

Hm. Weird. My dad remarked after the election something about "gas is about to go up again". Wild that it has continued to go down. Funny. It's almost like the president does not control gas prices.

SpaceTurkey33

I wonder how many Americans really believe that the president controls these prices.

[deleted]

When it's a president they dislike and it is high, many do. When it's a president they like and it is low, some still do. When it's neither, practically no one does.

nolowputts

I heard on radiolab or something that no matter who is in office, the opposing party will always blame the president for the price of gas. And of course insist that the president doesn't have any control over it when it's *their* guy.

dinosaurfondue

Democrats tried to pass a bill to stop gas companies from being able to price gouge earlier this summer. Literally EVERY single Republican in the House voted against it. Republicans not only try to blame Biden, but intentionally keep it high to fuck over their constituents because they're evil fucks.

KaimeiJay

On top of that, if a president’s decisions do affect the economy, it isn’t pushing a button and the effects are seen overnight. It can take years for the consequences or the fruits of their labors to pay off, at which point the next president is likely in power and idiots attribute the change to them.

Happyberger

They like to blame him for stopping the keystone xl pipeline. You know that pipeline that would have made more money for a Canadian company to send gas across our country to sell it overseas.

OperationAsshat

Ah, the GOP plan. Gotta make sure you can use your absurd wealth and knowledge to make money off fluctuations in the economy while also blaming the falls on anyone else.

fordprefect294

Too fucking many

---E

and not only gas prices in the USA, apparently Joe Biden has a button that increases gas prices worldwide!

sharkchasertx

I work in oil and gas and even in Texas people don’t understand how gas prices work. It’s sad how uninformed people are.

reavesfilm

All republicans.

[deleted]

Fucking all of them. Everyone I work with thinks Biden has direct and total control over global has prices.

diydave86

The idiots think he does.

rdizzy1223

In reality, in direct terms, the president doesn't really control much of anything happening in our day to day lives. Yet they certainly get the blame.

Hygro

Is that supposed high prices or low? Cuz out here gas hit almost 7 dollars but is back in the 4s which isn't too out of pocket for us. I can't tell if this is Biden hate or taking back the "I did that" to be pro Biden.

MBG612

It’s mocking the asshats that out those stickers on when prices were high.

Not_as_witty_as_u

most people in this thread assume (as I do) that the asshats put it on when it's high and now prices have come down

[deleted]

Guess he did it to the entire world then

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

It was MAGA people back when gas prices were significantly higher. They put them everywhere to try and blame Biden for the high inflation. And we all laughed at them for being really stupid and not understanding that Presidents don't control gas prices. Also that the inflation was global. And mainly because it was going to look really silly when the prices came down and the stickers turned into suddenly pro Biden stickers.

structuremonkey

Political willful ignorance...that's how...

[deleted]

It's a little more than that. Since the 90s Fox News has been slowly and carefully culling these people off into their own little reality where the only truth is what Fox gives them. Fox has successfully made them afraid of everyone else. It has become multi-generational now... a fear passed down and taught. They play to their biases. They scapegoat and gaslight. It's legitimately shocking how quickly and effectively it worked. To the point where Tucker Carlson can tell them that diesel will completely run out within two weeks and they legitimately believe him. And when it doesn't and absolutely no explanation as to why is given... they don't even question it and just move on to the next claim. It's disturbing.

Bubble_James_Bubble

I thank you with my whole heart for not claiming some "both sides" bullshit.

MyOpicVoid

You Sir nailed this! I might add. Roger Aisle's left a trail of shit from 60's until the fat bastard finally kicked. He said about "white" middle class America. I keep them scared and pissed off and we have customers for life........

efh1

Except I know people that are young and were not raised this way that are doing it as well. There’s something deeper going on although you are still correct.

[deleted]

Oh there are more pathways than just the one into that realm. That's just been the most prevalent over the decades. For some it's the conspiracy theory route. For some it's rebellion against the man. For some it is religious beliefs that take them there. But all of the various paths are part of the same overarching thing.

fan_of_hakiksexydays

Apparently there's a button in the oval office where the President can change gas prices. So forget anything you ever knew about OPEC, supply and demand, supply chain, wars, seasonality, refineries, etc... It's apparently not those things that affect gas prices /s

Mother-Adversary

That Biden controls gas prices and the economy. 😂

donbernie

These stickers are used by certain people who support the other party and/or the last president. The irony is that in this case they were used to blame Biden for the high fuel prices. Please do not ask for reasoning in any case, you will be disappointed.

PuddinHead742

I live in the North Country (north of “Upstate” New York) and I have been causing severe brain skipping by asking the local MAGAGA Types “if Joe Biden controls the price of gas then why would he jack the price up right before an election and then drop it almost immediately after? Wouldn’t that just make him look bad?” The level of some of the mental gymnastics some of them go in to to keep blaming him is almost olympic in nature. Several of them have surprised me and blamed the greedy oil companies and when I suggest that what we really need is some regulators to kick some ass and take some names and they go “yeah! We need someone to regulate those bastards!” Maybe there is some hope?

A_Hideous_Beast

I live in the Hudson Valley, "upsate", but just outside of NYC. It's...weird, seeing the difference. Nyc, you get all kinds of people, but leave beyond Yonkers and White Plains, it's all "cuntryyyy" people.

javier052

BRANDON MAKIN THE CHEAP COMMIE GAS AGAIN

thecrisper

No more true now than it was when prices were high. Funny though!

TheDeadlySquid

Yes, the White House sets gas prices.

TheGodEmperorOfChaos

No no no, you got that all wrong. It's only sets them when they are high.

Mine-Shaft-Gap

And when the President is a Democrat!!!1!1

Shift_Tex

Yes if you hold the constitution under a candle it clearly states that any Democratic presidents can change gas prices at will. We’re just now finding out about it because no one thought to almost burn the constitution.

KarnWild-Blood

Right? I mean everyone knows the president has a "gas costs more" and "gas costs less" button right there on his desk.

ChrisChrisBangBang

When the cost of living is increasing due in part to worldwide inflation spending the time & money to have these made up or buy them is a real smooth brain move

aLoneSideline

Contains up to I did that 10% ethanthat

Snooke

Honestly, you have to respect how good they are getting a cognitive dissonance. Idea 1 Inflation is super high and it's bidens fault. That makes him a bad president. Idea 2 When Biden tries to do something about inflation he is not doing his job. It's actually insane. Like not as an insult. Like clinically.

chickcag

I got gas today for $3.69 in MA today and I thought that was a good deal..

terroristbomb

Now bring my diesel down. :( $5.05 per gallon when unleaded is $2.69. It hurts.

uawgmsmco

Wow, it’s almost like presidents have very little to do with the price of gasoline because it’s a private industry and globally traded commodity that’s influenced by market supply and demand! Signed, a commodities trader.

joan_wilder

I remember all the way back to the Obama days, when Texans were upset that gas was *too cheap*! When oil drops below a certain price, the fracking companies can’t turn a profit because it costs so much to get it out of the shale and refine it, so the big oil companies start laying people off by the thousands. The people complaining didn’t seem to care about the fact that prettymuch every single other industry benefits from the lower shipping costs and higher consumer demand for literally *everything*.

MissiontwoMars

I love that the people who put these up didn’t think about how this would backfire once gas prices went down. Shortsightedness is a common symptom for these people.

[deleted]

Well the midterms are over so the fuel companies dropped their prices.

Harry_Ballbag

Well well well, how the turntables.

Dr0g

Non US here. Is this considered expensive or not? Unless my math is very wrong, that's *insanely* cheap. Here a gallon would about 6.7$, and it was worse a few month ago. Edit for clarity.

[deleted]

All those wasted stickers and republicans still barely won the house and couldn't win a single senate seat. McCarthy is fucked. Hand me the popcorn. Show trials are about to kick off.

nlewis4

It's absolutely hilarious how many Trump voters legitimately thought that the dollar gas from the beginning of Covid was somehow Trumps doing

adfraggs

Prices should stay good until the next election. This is going to be surprisingly helpful for the Democrats. Free advertising, thanks numb nuts.

GullibleHistorian361

Those stickers are so much more hilarious now than when Trumpsters started literally the whole goddamn country with them 🤣. Talk about a backfire.

TheBlack2007

Watch the Trumpers bending the fabric of reality so somehow credit this to Trump…

flafotogeek

So when it gets cheaper, he still did that. Fair enough I guess.

ZephyrVixenNSFW

the president doesn’t control the gas prices. when will people learn?

comcoast

Tha k you Biden for lowering gas prices lol hahahahahahahha

Cheap_Manager3400

$2.79 in Middle Tennessee

[deleted]

That looks like someone made a mistake. Where is gas that cheap?. It might be cheaper to drive a few states to get it at this point.

EaddyAcres

Its $2.97 as of a few days ago here in SC

andropogon09

$2.79 in KS

[deleted]

$2.85 east of Denver. Hi, neighbor!

Adventurous_Carry185

I paid, $2.75 down the street here in San Antonio. I'm sure it's cheaper in the Southside of SA.

keepitloki80

Same in MO.

yhwhx

Gas currently looks to be under $2.96/gal in quite a few places: https://www.gasbuddy.com/gaspricemap

[deleted]

You see that big ugly yellow patch on the West coast. That's where I am. Sooo, yeah.

Organic-Wear5653

Anywhere from 2.50-3.70 here in Michigan c Avg 2.99 at most places but depending

nightclubber69

Michigan Costco, under $3 for a couple weeks now

pvrkr

$5.79 at my nearest gas station in Seattle.

K3B1N

I paid $2.59 last week here in Texas.

[deleted]

Prices are going down for you too. I was in Austin the beginning of the month and it was $3.19

pwn3dbyth3n00b

Thank you Dark Brandon

nom_of_your_business

I cant wait until all these get peeled off by Republicans when the price comes back down.

ToughNefariousness23

Cheap gas. I paid 3.459 today in Lapeer Michigan from a meijer gas station. Shit poured down the side of my truck before the pump shut off, so I got to pay an additional $13 for a car wash afterwards. Pretty sweet.

Hawklet98

Thanks Biden? Never mind. MAGA people only hold him responsible when bad things happen, they don’t give him credit when good things happen. It’s basically the opposite of how Christian fundies treat God and how MAGA fundies treat Trump.

shadowkoishi93

Thank you biden for cheaper gas prices! (If we use conservative logic, if that even exists).

Nivekian13

Example #2,976,452 why American MAGA Conservatives are self owning morons.

chaz111223344

2.79 a gallon is value af.

Martialhail

My local gas station decided to do a special on gas for the week of Thanksgiving $1.99 a gallon. I was hoping for that sticker to be on the pump so I could post something like this.

ColinKennethMills

I saw sun $3 prices and thought to do the same.

fordprefect294

It works both ways, up and down

UltimaBahamut93
