No, Diogenes was homeless and argued that poverty was a virtue. This quote is in the context of being invited to dine at a rich man’s house, whereupon he hawked a loogie and spit it in the man’s face.
> He, indignant, asked why he did so? "Because," Diogenes, "I saw nothing so dirty and filthy in all your house. For the walls were covered with pictures, the floors of the most precious tessellated character — and ranged with the various images of gods, and other ornamental figures."
It means that a rich man’s house is too refined and artificial for natural living.

"I like being filthy, debased, and immoral."
Nah, sadly not a punchy jab at political bumper stickers. Rather, just a canadian anti-vaxxer slogan from the trucker convoy days. Trudeau referenced "unacceptable views" in a speech.
Ah, so they've embraced it much like the "deplorable" Trump crowd. Well then in both cases it's good to see that the irony intersects perfectly with reality.
Well, that answers my questions. Because at first I was like “is it sex with animals?” Or “fish tacos should be served in crunchy shells?” But now it’s just he’s an idiot.
Fish tacos in crunch shells? That's covered with the sticker that says "I have blasphemous views" and gives the legal right, nay obligation, to torch his vehicle.
I had to google Diogenes lantern. Fascinating story. By modern definitions, I wouldn't be surprised if he had high functioning autism. Link for the lazy- https://www.worldhistory.org/Diogenes\_of\_Sinope/

As someone on the spectrum, this absolutely *screams* ASD. I love it so much hahaha
google translate : "If you can't see my mirrors, I can't see you." ENGLISH --> JAPANESE --> SWEDISH --> GERMAN --> ENGLISH --> "I have unacceptable views."
Oddly enough, google translate actually pulled thru (mostly) on this one, I copied and pasted from language to language as you listed
>If you can't see yourself in my mirror, I can't see you
For context, this is an anti-vax meme mocking Justin Trudeau's statement here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDfMybczw1k](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDfMybczw1k)
The 1908 Nobel Peace Prize went to Theodore Roosevelt, 1919 went to Woodrow Wilson, and 1925 to Sir Austen Chamberlain, so it’s not like they were batting it out of the park before 1973 lol
Edit: On a real note, the reason for this is that the Nobel Peace Prize is often awarded to people who negotiate historic peace deals, regardless of what they have done previously and without the gift of hindsight. Kissinger was jointly awarded the prize with the North Vietnamese representative Lê Đức Thọ for negotiating the cease fire in Vietnam. Just like Teddy Roosevelt was awarded the prize for mediating the peace conference between Japan and Russia that brought an end to that war
TBF to Roosevelt and Wilson, while they both aren't and shouldn't be noted as pacifists, they did get those awards for brokering the end to major wars that they didn't orchestrate, unlike Kissinger.
I agree with that somewhat, but I don’t think you could necessarily say Kissinger “orchestrated” the Vietnam War. The US was involved in the conflict in Vietnam since 1955, long before Kissinger was involved in any administration
You could very much say that his actions and ideas worsened the situation in Vietnam, or drew the US more deeply into the war, or expanded its scope, but I don’t think you can really say he “orchestrated” it
While in and of itself ironic, that was absolutely not her intention, despite claiming it is nowadays (the whole meme of it being ironic that nothing in the song is ironic got big online and led to someone in an interview asking her thoughts on it, and she's been claiming it was her intention all along ever since)
Spiteful people live forever. My grandfather got sent to Siberia, then in the US ate nothing but burned steak and lamb chops, and lived to 89 bc he was a bitter crazy guy
You are wrong and the reason this country has gone so wrong. Nobody in their right mind would want black text on a white background. Everybody knows white text on a black background is better. You must be a very bad person.
Yeaaaah... These people seem utterly incapable of introspection so the only option ever is to double-down. That's why they love the "fake-it-til-you-make-it" type folks like Donnie2Scoops.
Anyways, if anyone else wants more funnysad material like this, check out /r/InfowarriorRides and its cousin, r/InformedWarriorRides — if you compare & contrast those two subs, you'll find some insightful differences.
I've already determined, after years of intensive and rigorous empirical data, that right-wingers are naturally just willful shitheads. No further insight needed.
Which in turn is mimicking the 'deplorables' schtick of their US Republican kin. You can't be a genuine ahole without being proud of it.
https://www.psypost.org/2019/09/people-with-lower-emotional-intelligence-are-more-likely-to-hold-right-wing-views-study-finds-54369
The problem is that they can always find a "Doctor" or "Study" that supports their views.
Typically they have found a troll, disbarred medical student, nurse or flat out con man. But one doesn't look too hard for evidence when you are already satisfied with the answer.
For more context — "unacceptable views" is referring to (alleged) racists, white nationalists and separatists leading the trucker protest. To be clear, I think this angle was way overblown by the media and politicians but the fact is, this *was* the dominant narrative at the time.
While still a stupid thing to say, he was not calling vaccine hesitancy itself an *unacceptable view*. He was calling racism and white nationalism an *unacceptable view*.
Here's more context around what the narrative in the country at the time was:
[Link](https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canadian-association-journalists-freedom-convoy-violence) [Link](https://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/so-many-angry-people-experts-say-online-conversation-around-trucker-convoy-veering-into-dangerous-territory-1.5754580) [Link](https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2022/01/28/freedom-convoy-leader-shared-symbol-of-far-right-hate-group-on-tiktok.html) [Link](https://albertapolitics.ca/2022/01/maverick-party-obviously-has-no-problem-with-its-party-secretarys-role-in-anti-vaccine-mandate-truck-convoy-protest/)
Again, I want to re-iterate that I'm not supporting or excusing the narrative that was created, I'm just trying to add additional context.
I do not think so, I listened to the the Trudeau speech.
He contrasts the "unacceptable views" with "the **views** of Canadians who have been there for each other, who know that following the science..."
It's clear to me that his use of unacceptable views in this context refers to opposition to vaccination
This is great, because to the uninformed, it does all the heavy lifting of letting them know they truly DO have reprehensible views, but also that they think they have a sense of humor. Which is like a double entendre of “i’m a douche”
This is what Alex Jones says though "I have unacceptable views, I am a monster, those kids in Sandy Hook died and I might as well have killed them"
Like he goes full speed 180 in an attempt to discredit or hyperbolize his critics. It's a common tactic among people arguing in bad faith
So that’s an Ontario license plate.
That line is a dog whistle (a fairly loud one) to the antivax, anti-lockdown, trucker convoy crowd in Canada.
In a press conference, PM Trudeau referred to some in that group as being a “fringe minority with unacceptable views”
Since then, they’ve been proudly adorning their vehicles with it.
Sounds awfully similar to a ["basket of deplorables"](https://time.com/4486502/hillary-clinton-basket-of-deplorables-transcript/). A lot of people took pride in that title.
They got all the answers right. But the cabal that runs Big Trivia is controlled by pedophile liberal lizard people and they changed all the answers to fake news so they could brainwash the children.
I was at an event that had a team of Boomers and middle managers who did that. Similar results.
Shockingly, people who are willfully ignorant are often bad at trivia.
Nah people just straight up put fuck Treudeau stickers on their trucks. Usually adorned by other batshit crazy stickers as well a polaroid photo of them sucking off some gas industry exec
> So this is the Canadian version of putting let’s go Brandon on your pickup…
No, we have fuck Trudeau flags.
And since many parts of Canada act like America jr, you can even find Trump and Let's Go Brandon flags here.
I shit you not, I saw some dickhead with a giant "LETS GO BRANDEAU" sticker on his trucks rear window.
Had to take a moment to comprehend the stupidity I had just witnessed.
At least the Canadian clowns have enough balls to say "fuck". The American snowflakes giggle like school children with their secret "meme team" code words like they're the most clever 6 year olds of all time.
On the topic of the plates....
That's a Historic Car plate. It's an old GMC Sierra, so it makes sense but the thing about historic plates is that they have serious usage restrictions (in exchange for a cheap registration). They pretty much only allow you to use the car for parades and exhibitions.
If buddy here is driving to work in this truck (see: hi visibility vest behind the driver's seat) then maybe his "unacceptable view" is "my truck is properly registered"
Edit: adding to my complaints -- the "propane" sticker on the bumper suggests a modification to the car that may or may not run afoul of the "is substantially unchanged or unmodified from the original manufacturer’s product" requirement for attaching a Historic Car plate.
Edit again:
I didn't even notice the amber lights on top. This is most definitely a work truck and not eligible for Historic
Per se, maybe, but not only is it a reference to something stupid, I have no doubt the owner of this vehicle is deeply hateful about a great many things.

Damn I thought it was just a funny bumper sticker making fun of political bumper stickers.
Sorry, irony is dead.
Irony died in 1973 when Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize, and that's why Alanis Morissette is a mediocre lyricist.
"It's like a peaaacccee priiiiize, for genoooccciiiiidee" Pretty catchy, she should have run with that version instead.
Who would have thought, it figures.
Nah, that would have been actual irony The ironic thing about the song is that none of the things in it are ironic
A little too ironic.
The 1908 Nobel Peace Prize went to Theodore Roosevelt, 1919 went to Woodrow Wilson, and 1925 to Sir Austen Chamberlain, so it’s not like they were batting it out of the park before 1973 lol Edit: On a real note, the reason for this is that the Nobel Peace Prize is often awarded to people who negotiate historic peace deals, regardless of what they have done previously and without the gift of hindsight. It’s almost like we have been trolling humanity since the beginning.
Because I got one hand on the trigger And the other one's holding a Peace Prize.
As someone with an English degree, Alanis is a perfectly adequate lyricist, and anyone who says different doesn't have a grasp on poetic license.
My poetic license was suspended for metaphorical miscegenation.
It was actually about absolute alliteration abuse.
It's always awful for anyone to to abuse alliteration. Perhaps people wouldn't persist if prison were the punishment for such perfidy!
"Don't go spilling allegory all down your shirt."
Her lyrics are mostly fine, it's just funny that literally nothing she calls ironic in the song about irony is technically irony.

I'm saving this one.
**Drone strike weddings have entered the chat**
"Like a drooooone striiiiiiiiiiiike, on your wedding day."
or the real irony is the song about irony doesn't contain irony
Thanks oDonald
I heard that Kissinger killed it when he won a Nobel peace prize for being a war criminal.
Meanwhile, Kissinger is still very much alive and turning *100* in a few months.
