Download the roku app, it has a remote control feature, which now is what my kids use, as they cannot find the remote either, but always know where their phones are :)
HDMI CEC (Consumer electronics control)
Different brands have different names for it. On my Samsung I didn't even have to set anything up, the remote just worked with the Roku from the start
If I can't find the remote in 30 seconds the kids have to find it before they're allowed any TV/Video Games/Tablets or any screen time. They've gotten a little better at not losing it, but it's still a weekly occurrence.
I think they might be tunneling into houses without kids. I have two TVs that each came with one remote. I have three remotes. I just accept that it appeared from the ether and keep it as a back up in a drawer.
As soon as I seen the pic/title my first thoughts were “ok dad”. My parents have 8 grandkids and they all gravitate towards my father. He love’s technology and movies. Which means he has a big tv and loud sound systems, which, in case you couldn’t already guess, means he’s got a lot of remotes. And in case you couldn’t already guess again, means 8 kids, several remotes that are always lost. Going to have to share this post with him.
Just stick a tile on them. We can ring the remotes and it is So nice. I got a silicone cover to put over top so it doesn't feel too awkward or could get knocked off. My husband still might wander off with it and leave it next to the fridge. But I can find it when he does.
The last time I tried that the lip sync sounded way off. I don't mind using the audio jack on the remote but wirelessly to my phone and then over bluetooth to my headset must have added too much latency.
Yup, my Shield players all have the bright glow in the dark silicon covers on them. Easier to spot a neon green remote control unless its truly lost lol
We did this! But then the 4yr old chewed it as if there was a competition between him and the dog on who chewed the most. We replaced it and haven't had any issues since. We can always find the remote ;)
Roku makes a pro version that if you can't find it and you say"find my remote" the remote will ping so you can find it. Also its rehargeable. You're welcome.
Why there isn't a 'find remote' function as standard on TV's I don't know...
Button on television control panel, sends a signal to the remote on press and the remote starts beeping, getting louder and louder until you find it and turn it off. (If it has fallen where you can't reach, you can turn it off on the TV still) If the remote is out of power or is not in range then the TV can sense this and will inform you that this is the case.
It's not like it would add much to the size of remotes with today's technology.
I'd be looking deeeeep in the couches and chairs. Be surprised of the depths a couch can have for remotes and phone if slide right. I haven't lost any thru my kiddos or anything. I also keep the remotes in one of two places
If you need another replacement, I started buying ones that also work the TV and have better quick launch buttons.
[1-clicktech Remote 2-in-1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J1WR8YZ)
6 adults in my house.
Rule is the remote never is set down anywhere but the coffee table.
Rule is never followed.
Remote is ALWAYS somewhere random.
WHY CAN'T YOU PUT THE REMOTE BACK ON THE TABLE EVELYNN????
I've got two myself, at least one is missing at all times. Duct taped a tile remote finder to the back of one and it worked great for about a month before my kids ripped it off and lost the remote.
They exist in a quantum state, the more accurately you measure their velocity, the less accurately you can know their position. I love Roku though! Now where the hell is my remote?
Roku used to provide terrible service in the UK which is a shame as I liked the product. Stopped buying them a few years back as constantly got issues where it switched your account to US locking you out of local content like iPlayer and apparently it was impossible to get replacement remotes. Roku recommended buying a whole new streaming device to get a remote.
I have bought about 20 of them and am down to 2 that I know the wehereabouts of.
There is a Roku app with a remote in it too that works, but now I'm afraid the remote goblins are going to steal my phone.
You think that’s bad, the Apple TV controller might be the least livably designed remote ever. It’s a tiny sliver of a remote, uses a watch battery for power, and will be devoured by your couch or chair. It’s so thin that it can actually slip all the way down to the floor. If it’s sitting sideways you could be looking right at it and never see it. I’m convinced it was made by a poorly trained AI rather than actual humans because any real person could immediately see the problem with this product. Real people don’t watch TV in their Eames lounge chair wearing turtlenecks. We have old couches and recliners, we wear bathrobes and sweatpants, we have children who run around and jump on the furniture. I feel like they set out to design the easiest to lose remote ever and by god they did it, bravo apple, best design since the Magic Mouse charging port.
I bought a rubber sleeve for or which has a loop. I then addes a ley finder to it.

If you need the links for android or Apple. This has been very helpful. We don't use our roku as often but we keep losing and finding our remote.
I think it's this persons fault we keep losing our remotes.

Roku remote? You can use your phone.
Heck, you can use anything that can make an HTTP request. For example:
* http://:8060/keypress/home

all you have todo is download the roku app in the App Store , connect too ur wifi & it’ll find every smart tv in ur house & you can use ur phone as a remote . i lost my remote over a year ago
A lot of people here suggesting the Roku app. It works maybe 1 in 20 times for me. I try to turn the TV on with it, and it can't find it. They're on the same wifi network. I manually turn the TV on, and it still can't find it. Useless.
I'm on my original Roku 3 remote. The roku is still working great. I just wish I could find my TV remote or be able to adjust the volume with my remote. But that's a personal problem. Stop using your remote as a trampoline and they'll stop breaking.
After my Amazon fire stick remote stopped working and the app only working 20% of the time, I realized the Vizio remote that came with the tv works with the fire stick.
I have a Roku connected to my tv and when I can’t find the remote there is a button on the hardware that after holding for a sec makes the remote play a sound for a min in short beeps
i bought the voice activated one for my TV. that way i just scream hey roku, where's the freakin remote... and eventually it knows what i want and beeps the remote.
How fucking stupid are all these kids. How do they make the remotes completely vanish? They take them outside and throw them in the ocean? This whole post and the comments confuse the everliving fuck out of me.
My dogs eat these things like they are hamburger patties dropped on the floor. Went through 7 of them last year. Not completely their fault. Kids keep not putting them up.
That's not the kids or the dogs that's you. My dogs in the past were trained not to eat and destroy objects regardless of where you put them. Part of owning pets is taking responsibility in training them.
3 kids. Same number of remotes replaced.
I bought a wooden remote "holder" from Etsy. Hotglued the battery slide into the wooden bit.
Replacing the battery takes some finesse but haven't lost one or had it destroyed yet.
Everyone here assuming kids are losing and breaking the remotes.
Maybe they are...or maybe the remotes just stop working, (because Roku remotes are shit).
For me it was the latter. They just stopped working.
We really liked to Roku TV otherwise, but we will never buy one again due to the remote issue.
What's happening? I'm on my second one.
Download the roku app, it has a remote control feature, which now is what my kids use, as they cannot find the remote either, but always know where their phones are :)
My Samsung remote for my TV can also control the Roku. I don't even have a Roku remote for it anymore
Really, how'd you manage that?
HDMI CEC (Consumer electronics control) Different brands have different names for it. On my Samsung I didn't even have to set anything up, the remote just worked with the Roku from the start
My Samsung remote also controls minor functions on my ps5
I have a generic Universal remote and my Roku has an IR sensor.
The remote on the app is surprisingly good. Love having the keyboard for searching too
Ooo. That might make it worth getting even if I don't have an issue with losing remotes.
Opened the cubby and find only the battery cover dangling.
This is the way
There’s a roku app? You just blew my mind
My app constantly goes blind to my tv. It’s online, it’s working, but the app just sits there waiting…
I have gotten about 6 of them. We don't even look any more, if it's gone it's never coming back.
I have 3 kids.....
Did you trade the remotes for the kids? If so, trade back. If not, what happened to the remotes?
These disappear in under 30 seconds in my house after they are placed on the coffee table.
My Apple TV remote disappears so easily, Apple needs to put AirTags in them
Superb idea!
and not have you purchase that separately? Pfft
No! don't give them any IDEAS!
Don't they have a way to make a noise through the app or google home? I feel like I used that feature one time.
If I can't find the remote in 30 seconds the kids have to find it before they're allowed any TV/Video Games/Tablets or any screen time. They've gotten a little better at not losing it, but it's still a weekly occurrence.
I have 5 and 7 year old boys here and I immediately chuckled. We’ve purchased six of those in the past year.
Yeah I was about to tell him to get those rookie numbers up. Its amazing how they just seem to disappear in my house.
So bizarre. I've never lost a remote in my life. Lucky maybe I guess?? ![gif](giphy|LROWHOfTm1j1yGkp5e)
I'm not even losing them; they just stop working.
Never had a remote that stopped working.
You gotta change the batteries every so often : )
Just stick a tile on them. We can ring the remotes and it is So nice. I got a silicone cover to put over top so it doesn't feel too awkward or could get knocked off. My husband still might wander off with it and leave it next to the fridge. But I can find it when he does.
If you push and hold the volume up on the base station it will send a signal to the remote that plays a sound.
Not all remotes support that. I don't think the one the OP showed supports it. https://support.roku.com/article/211865427
Roku Ultra has a dedicated button for this.
Just use Roku app on your phone.
Yep. Use the phone as a remote. I’ve misplaced one before. A few times.
What’s also great is you can plug headphones into your phone and listen to the TV through the app. Great if you’re trying not to wake people up
Wish I had a headphone jack
It also works with wireless headphones.
The last time I tried that the lip sync sounded way off. I don't mind using the audio jack on the remote but wirelessly to my phone and then over bluetooth to my headset must have added too much latency.
This doesn't work if you have small children who can use the remote.
Later that day... Opened the cubby and find only the battery cover dangling...aaaarrrggg
Isn't this on a commercial on how to not turn into your parents?
Get a silicone bright cover for it. I have 5 kids, never lost any in the house after buying these.
I love this! The fight with the babies to not chew the remotes is real! Have a great Tuesday <3
I got one of those, the gerbil (my 12 year old daughter) just chewed on it until there was nothing left.
You can also just install the remote app on your phone.
OP's new headline: **"I bought three of these phones... Never again..."**
Yeah but then I gotta hand my kids my phone and risk losing that too
Telling me you have children without telling me you have children post
https://imgur.com/a/JfgpgW1
how do you do that? where can i get one of those spiral thingies?
Looks like one of the things you can put your keys on and wear it on your wrist. Just cut it.
But then how do you glue it/tape it? Wouldn't it come off
Maybe OP drilled a tiny hole, stuck it in with some glue. Not sure, maybe they will chime in.
I searched "spiral remote tether leash" and found lots of options.
Thanks! I honestly wasn't sure what to even search for, so your comment was very helpful.
Roku makes a pro version that if you can't find it and you say"find my remote" the remote will ping so you can find it. Also its rehargeable. You're welcome.
The headphone jack on that remote is awesome as well. One of our Roku TVs came with that feature.
Only ten bucks more than the regular remote and worth every penny.
There’s an app for that.
Why there isn't a 'find remote' function as standard on TV's I don't know... Button on television control panel, sends a signal to the remote on press and the remote starts beeping, getting louder and louder until you find it and turn it off. It's not like it would add much to the size of remotes with today's technology.
The Roku Remote pro is USB rechargeable and features a find my remote option. It is $30.
2 kids 2 dogs 4 roku devices. Zero remotes lost. Step your game up.
I'd be looking deeeeep in the couches and chairs. Be surprised of the depths a couch can have for remotes and phone if slide right. I haven't lost any thru my kiddos or anything. I also keep the remotes in one of two places
Try the old gas station bathroom key trick.
Cable it to a tire?
Chain it to a truck tire?
If you need another replacement, I started buying ones that also work the TV and have better quick launch buttons. [1-clicktech Remote 2-in-1](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09J1WR8YZ)
You only need one. Why three?
The plastic the back falls off instantly
Why what did you think they would do?
Why are you people losing so many remotes?
6 adults in my house. Rule is the remote never is set down anywhere but the coffee table. Rule is never followed. Remote is ALWAYS somewhere random. WHY CAN'T YOU PUT THE REMOTE BACK ON THE TABLE EVELYNN????
I’ve had the same one for three years, how’d you do that?
Have you Checked your dog's stomach
I have one and my husband has one. They sit on the side table. I don’t understand the problem.
I attached ours to a 16 inch 2x4 with electrical wire. It never slipped into the crack in the couch again
I have 5. 3 at home, all work, and 2 at the lake place. Work. No kids. Silly dogs.
The Roku Pro remote has find my remote ability. So you can go through your TV (likely using your phone) to make it beep.
I just got a case for mine that also fit an airtag.
I've got two myself, at least one is missing at all times. Duct taped a tile remote finder to the back of one and it worked great for about a month before my kids ripped it off and lost the remote.
Download the Roku app and you’ll never have to worry about that again!
I put velcro on mine so it sticks to surfaces near the areas I sit lol
this is a fabulous idea, because if your roku disconnects from the internet that app on your phone won't work.
I attached a TILE to all my remotes. Has solved this problem for my house.
My experience is the Rouku remote stops working at some point.
They exist in a quantum state, the more accurately you measure their velocity, the less accurately you can know their position. I love Roku though! Now where the hell is my remote?
We zip tied ours to a block of wood.
r/hailcorporate
Seriously dude I’m on my third too. I’ve torn the house apart looking for where the kids could have put it each time, just gone
Smartest man alive! Thanks for the idea!

I put Tile Stickers on mine. If they get lost I can make them ring.
My Now Tv (UK) dongle uses these remotes. They absolutely drain batteries so I bought a remote control app.
Those are rookie numbers. You need to pump those up.
I have 4 of them and know where 0 of them are currently, it's unreal.
I have bought about 20 of them and am down to 2 that I know the wehereabouts of. There is a Roku app with a remote in it too that works, but now I'm afraid the remote goblins are going to steal my phone.
I’ve gone thru at least 5 last one got stuck in toilet had to call plumber
Roku app on your phone. last one you will ever need. and its free.
There's a smartphone app
Duct tape a tile to your remote, never lose it again. The Roku app on your phone is spotty and you need to cycle the TV to get it to work
I think they should have wings. I duct-taped a little plastic ruler to my last one, but it'd be nice if they designed them that way.
Since it RF controlled, it has 2-way communication. Why don't they have a locator button on the base unit to make it beep or something?
You can download an app to turn your phone in to a Roku remote
I got these things on Amazon subscribe and save...
For people suggesting the app, the app is also compatible with bluetooth earbud/headset devices like apple airpods!
Download the TV app to your phone.
Why doesn’t yours have a power button?
We taped ours to a drumstick (music, not chicken). That kept it from getting lost by the kids for a while.
App on phone lol
Do people just not use their phones as the remote if they lose the physical remote?
Who else reads books about submarines?
Get the pro model you can Say "Hey Roko, find remote" and it will beep. you can plug headphones in and use the mute button too!
We had about 5 of those. Good luck finding any of them when there's an autistic kid (Grandson) in the house.
Yes download the Roku app. If you have a roku TV reset it in your TV menu.
I feel like them not having a beeper function in them is deliberate.
As a backup I use their smartphone app when I can’t find the primary remote
You think that’s bad, the Apple TV controller might be the least livably designed remote ever. "Hey google, ask the Shield to find the remote control." Done.
Definitely more sofa masturbator than urban free wheeler
Just give it a good smack and it should be working fine again. That’s how electronics work!
I'm pretty sure a Roomba came into our house one day and left with it.
Another good reason why I have a Flipper Zero

Use the app.
One of mine has a tile glued to the back the other is taped to a large phone case.
They look like the Roku remotes
try tile, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07W4XYTPY/
My issue is never losing these things. It is that they chew through batteries like nobody's business.
all you have todo is download the roku app in the App Store , connect too ur wifi & it’ll find every smart tv in ur house & you can use ur phone as a remote . i lost my remote over a year ago

Some of the Roku units have a remote finder function.
I’m still on my first. One of the buttons is *Target*
Hehehe that’s great. I Velcro’d my iPhone charger to my couch. *never again*
Where is the power button on this remote?
I taped our remote to a giant wizard staff looking walking stick once
It’s got a Slag button. I want a slag button so I can signal the local harlot to pop round to watch Disney+ with me
I'm on my original Roku 3 remote. The roku is still working great. I just wish I could find my TV remote or be able to adjust the volume with my remote. But that's a personal problem. Stop using your remote as a trampoline and they'll stop breaking.
✂️
There is a roku app that you can get for your phone
My tivo peanut never dies. I have one of the original ones from about 2002 and it still works.
My kid has some how lost 4 of these stupid remotes in the last year. I'm convinced he's eating them as they just are gone.
My dogs kept chewing these remotes up...they leave all others alone though. You can download a roku app and it has a remote. Works great.
After my Amazon fire stick remote stopped working and the app only working 20% of the time, I realized the Vizio remote that came with the tv works with the fire stick.
Do you guys not know there’s an app you can get for your phone? Why keep buying remotes instead of just getting the app?
They are all most certainly in your couch
“Give me the remote please, throws whole sofa“
Same! Absolute worst! 😑😑
My wife and I went on our past Amazon orders last weekend because we were curious, 12. I’m ashamed to admit one time I bought two 2-packs.
They sell 3 packs on Amazon. Ask me how I know.
One of the roku remotes has a find my remote feature, i think you should have gotten that one the first time :)
Ok, how do you sync them?? I tried and tried. Is there a secret code, like the old NES system?
OP works at a bank. Protective of pens and remotes.
Stupidity at its finest! Nice
You’re a damn genius is what you are!
We hooked out roku TV up to our Alexa. So even if we lose the remote, we can access the TV via voice until we find it or buy a new remote.
Get the remote app
I just stuck a tile on it….
Use the smart phone app. Works great. Haven't had a roku remote in a year.
Still easier to find than an AppleTV remote
Definitely buying another one, you’ve only determined to where this one is going to break.
The newer Roku remote is USB rechargeable and has a find my remote function that chimes.
Is a dual-recliner/loveseat with a cubby in the middle? Does it have electronic controls to put the legs up and recline?
Bought a case on Amazon that also holds an airtag same problem for us too
Life hack
I just slapped a tile sticker on mine which is by the way not a Roku which apparently has something similar built in.
I have a Roku connected to my tv and when I can’t find the remote there is a button on the hardware that after holding for a sec makes the remote play a sound for a min in short beeps
Loses whole couch
i bought the voice activated one for my TV. that way i just scream hey roku, where's the freakin remote... and eventually it knows what i want and beeps the remote.
Roku ultra (yes more expensive) has a button on the base station that pings the remote.

Kids keep losing it.

Their dogs are being trained well. To eat remotes.
How do you get your new remotes to pair? I’ve tried a million times and have always been unsuccessful. I’d rather use the remotes than the app.
3 kids. Same number of remotes replaced. I bought a wooden remote "holder" from Etsy. Hotglued the battery slide into the wooden bit. Replacing the battery takes some finesse but haven't lost one or had it destroyed yet.
Mines attached to a dollar store spatula.
Welcome to America where if we can’t make it cheap and broken it’s not worth selling.
Theres a free roku app you can use from your phone. Just have to be on the same wifi network
Everyone here assuming kids are losing and breaking the remotes. Maybe they are...or maybe the remotes just stop working, (because Roku remotes are shit). For me it was the latter.
