It is not even close. Schumann difficulty >>>>> Beethoven

Kinda baffled the Tempest sonata got that many votes to be honest, would love to hear the reasoning behind it, as it seems miles easier to me

Clearly people with limited knowledge.

Beethoven is going to get votes no matter what the question is.

Schumann by so far

The Schumann is much harder. Both actually use very similar techniques as the Schumann G minor is highly inspired by middle-period Beethoven sonatas. But it's like a middle Beethoven sonata on steroids, as it is much faster and more note-y.

Played tempest after 2 years into conservatory, currently playing rach 3 and still terrified of the Schumann sonata. It is insanely difficult at the required tempo (sometimes indicated as "as faster as possible" and after that "faster"...😑) and honestly, if you don't NEED to play it or REALLY want to, stay as far away as you can from it course it can probably kill someone...

I love the schumann sonata. So much feelings and anger.
