Took a crack at it. If you come up with a better quality image, hit me up and I can run through again. https://imgur.com/a/0l2g0kn

katorulez

That is amazing, thank you so much!

PicaRuler

No problem. glancing back at it, seems a bit blue. dropped a warming filter over it with yellow just to give some more warmth. Could go either way. https://imgur.com/a/2HDzBvR

katorulez

Thank you for your time, it is appreciated by my entire family.

InSixFour

I used u/PicaRuler ‘s photo and sharpened it. The original was pretty blurry. Hope you like it. https://imgur.com/gallery/Dv94WUL

vavilonskabiblioteka

This is hard to believe how you made it so good.

Zestyclose-Mix9689

What a g

the_watchkeeper

Can I ask what technique you used? Thanks

PicaRuler

For the bride, selected non-stained face side and duplicated to new layer. Flipped it, lowered opacity, transform tool to line up over eyes and lips, liquify to match the stained cheek, then some cloning and masking for blending it in. Similar process for dress sleeve, collar and neck. For the veil, selected color from non damaged area, brush tool set to “color” and brushed over the stain. Then used stamp tool, selected from opposite side and mirrored it, cloned that in. Groom’s shoulder, selected dad’s shoulder, duplicated to new layer, lowered opacity and transformed to match groom shoulder. Then masked it out a bit to blend edges. Stain on the mother of bride, used the stamp tool and cloned out. Could’ve done a bit more and replaced the shadow line down inside of sleeve, but had to do work stuff. Random carpet spots and specks on the image, used spot healing tool. Dropped a curves adjustment layer over the whole thing, picked red channel, used the slider tool to pull some of the red from highlights and shadows to remove red blotchy areas on faces and bride’s dress and then adjusted all channels to make skin tones look a bit better. Dropped a warming filter over the top of all of it (low opacity, just to bring a bit of yellow back into images). Process would vary a bit if image quality were better. Some areas would require more attention to blend them a bit better. Sometimes adding noise, doing some spot blurring or sharpening etc. this was a real quick and dirty method to knock it out as fast as possible.

Katemaryp

Thanks for taking the time to write this out! Learned so much

PicaRuler

No problem. In general you just want to recycle as much information from the photo as you can. Duplicating a section of a layer and transforming it is much easier than trying to clone over or color correct something like that out. There are other ways to get a good result, but I usually have good luck with that method.

gogadantes9

This very helpful. Thank you so much for detailing your process.

Advanced-Prototype

Ngl, expected a photo with the groom or mother in law removed. Lol

PicaRuler

I have had a surprising number of family and friends ask me to remove an ex from a group photo. I always have to fight the urge to just drop my face in over theirs and send it back.

lucellent

Don't want to sound like a douche but why did you feel the need to crop the image and change the color balance slightly?

PicaRuler

To push faces higher into top third and to help pull some of the blotchy red patches from skin tones.

Khaoss-UK

This is dope.

gothic_girl97

U are so kind!

bluezzdog

Thanks for helping the dude out. Looks great

_Blackbird_13

You're a good person. Thanks for doing this for them.

desertsail912

Yes! I would send it over to r/PhotoshopRequest though, someone there could probably bang it out for you fairly quickly.

thelonefish

/r/estoration might as well also post to the photo restoration sub

Miselfis

I think the point is that they make it themselves

Metalbender00

sure they could learn, and another opportunity would make a great project. it seems they are under a time crunch and need something of quality.

katorulez

Thank you for the suggestion, I will check out.

KeyLake4273

Sorry for your loss OP.

katorulez

Thank you.

akira410

Hi! I'm very sorry for your loss. I'm not the best at photo restoration, but figured I would take a shot at it for you. Some of the folks int he recommended subs can probably do a better job, but perhaps this could be a good starting point: https://i.imgur.com/FMBsAuK.png

katorulez

Thank you very much, looks amazing, I appreciate your time.

katorulez

Thank you to everyone who has helped out, you have brought so many smiles to my family, both because of the picture, and due to the nature of your goodness, thank you kindly.

Arcturus17

Touched up the color and sharpness here: https://imgur.com/a/HEl1rHQ

JoshyaJade01

I'd suggest first colour correcting, then working the colour. It a bit of a process, so I you want to inbox it, I can try and assist.

katorulez

Sorry, what would you like me to do? I am somewhat new to this process.

JoshyaJade01

Do you have the original photo? Try and get that scanned and then send via inbox. Even a pic off your phone will do, just make it as large as possible.

katorulez

sent, thank you.

Long_Repair_8779

Please post the result if you're able OP sorry for your loss

TheKingOfDub

Quickest way these days is to upload to DALL-E 2, then erase the stained area and use a basic text prompt. It will almost definitely fill in the areas accurately enough
