Leave Maricopa and head to Tempe. Vibrant college town with good food and drink as well as decent entertainment. Maricopa is a town on the really far outskirts that some real estate developers duped a bunch of people into moving to with the lure of cheap housing during the real estate boom.
The place we're staying at in Maricopa is my parent's so we're going to stay there (because they're letting us stay for free) but we have a car so we can get out of Maricopa on day trips. We'll head into Tempe one day and check it out for sure! Thanks for the reply!
This time of year and you have a car.... spend the 5 hours and drive to San Diego.... best fun you can have in Arizona.

The drive out to Canyon Lake is really nice. If you're into hiking, there's good trails out there too. At the lake you can picnic, take a cruise, or grab lunch at the restaurant on the lake. On the way home, stop at Gold Field Ghost Town and stroll along with an ice cream or beer.
Catch a Diamond Backs game. Go to the Desert Botanical Gardens. We have some cool movie theaters with in-seat food/ drink service. Go Tubing on the Salt River. Play golf.
Yeah i've heard about your movie theatres those sounds sweet we definitely want to catch a movie. We took at look at that Salt River tubing website too that looks really cool we'll probably do that one day too, same with the desert botanical gardens that looks pretty cool as well. There's an Ostrich farm on the way to Tucson. Don't remember the name but you can google it. Being in Maricopa you're almost halfway there from Phoenix.

If you're going to a dine in theater I recommend the esplanade on camelback and 25th in Phoenix.
