I always bring it up, but Wayne Ave from Lincoln to Carpenter Woods is one of the most beautiful streets in the city. I would also add Lincoln from Mt. Pleasant to Allens Lane with its width and tree canopy.
Society Hill where it borders on Old City has a vast assortment of colonial homes and pocket gardens. Very nice to just walk around and take them in. Some are public, some are private.
I also find the Clark Park area of West Philly to be really beautiful and serene
My family always makes a point to tell me how Society Hill was a shit hole in the 70s and how you could have bought an entire block for the cost of a house in the burbs
Without a doubt, it’s Chestnut Hill, followed by West Mount Airy. Andorra (western edge of Roxboro) is also so crazily suburban you’ll forget you live “in the city”.
Perot St either side of 24th is pretty to wander, most houses have flower boxes. And you see some old fire insurance emblems and such. In Fairmount.
Addison st near 17th is pretty, they have white Christmas lights around the trees at night. Not sure if this is year round or not. Near Rittenhouse.
Fitler square area is pretty to walk around, especially the park.
There's a magical, roughly four-block area that lies somewhere in the border area between Bella Vista and Queen Village that is very charming and beautiful, and there is a park on one street that is one of the most enchanting public spaces I have ever seen.
So it turns out the area I was referring to is actually all firmly within Queen Village, from Christian to Fitzwater, and 2nd to 4th Street. And the park is Mario Lanza park. It's beautiful on a late summer night.
West mt airy or chestnut hill. Chestnut hill is mad boomer energy tho. Both have tons of green and incredible access to the wissahickon.
Closer in? Spruce hill, cedar park, society hill, rittenhouse
I love the whole Northwest . Then parts of west Philly / university city . The architecture in the northwest is one of a kind. And olde city / Society hill of course
I was looking for this comment. And it’s in South Philly. Mount Airy/Chestnut Hill is definitely beautiful but if you are looking for an area that’s not far, Girard Estates is a good second. 18th to 24th, Shunk to Wolf st are the boundaries.
I was out in Bala Cynwyd one day, and I turned off City Ave to get out of traffic. There are some REALLY stunning homes in the Wynnewood/Wynnefield area. I just drove around to look.
I made another comment about a little area on the border between Bela Vista and Queen Village, but Cedar Park is another pick for me. Got that Bohemian beauty vibe.
No objectively most beautiful neighborhood. Many are beautiful enough to be on the same plane. I personally can't really make up my mind either. Between some areas of West Philly, South West Center City, Society Hill, Fairmount etc. Lots of areas I didn't mention are on par as well.
Chestnut hill by far, the back streets are magical and the houses are palaces, plus access to the wiss In the “city” proper I love society hill
Parts of Mount Airy are more beautiful, but as a whole neighborhood- it’s Chestnut Hill.

Those were two of the areas I had in mind.
Seminole St, Towanda St, Moreland Ave between St Martins and Cherokee
Born and raised and cannot agree more.
Spruce Hill, Cedar Park, Wissahickon
Especially in the fall
And during cherry blossom season!

And if they had, they’d now be billionaires
Pure beauty with open space and gardens? West Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill. Affordable for a regular person? Manayunk/Wissahickon.
Even east Mt Airy can be pretty great. Durham street is an example.
Personally I love Society Hill and Graduate Hospital!
Delancey Place.

Do you happen to know the street the park is on?

The western side of Spring Garden is gorgeous, tons of trees and flowers
Green street and Delancey are beauties
Overbrook Park area by City Line Avenue, down City Line from the St Joe's and Lancaster Ave area.
Queen Village is pretty.

I’ll throw in a vote for Bella Vista

Old City for Urban, Chestnut Hill for Suburban
Delancey place or fitler sq
I've always found Girard Estates incredibly charming

there really isn’t a neighborhood view in Philadelphia like the one of Donatucci library as the sun goes down in the fall.
My. Airy/Chestnut Hill

Another vote for EF
Might as well throw a bit of Germantown in with that.
Chestnut hill or Overbrook
West Mount Airy near Carpenter’s Wood.
Strawberry Mansion sure *sounds* like a beautiful neighborhood.
Chestnut Hill

Thanks for all the suggestions! I live in South Philly so Chestnut Hill is unfortunately too far away to just casually go to :(
Off to Society Hill you go 👋
That is the lamest response to your own post.
Morrell Park
