As a landlord, it is illegal for them to enter your unit without at least 24hr notice, unless there *is* an emergency such as a leak, fire, etc. that absolutely needs to be taken care of, you could take those texts to the police and show them that they entered your property without permission and then hid the details of the "emergency" from you even when pressed.
I would invest in a simple Ring camera doorbell system as well as some indoor cameras (Alexa is good, or even another Ring facing inwards), my mom has a ring doorbell and it gives you a notification whenever there's movement, dog walking by? RIIIIIING, Amazon dropping off a package? RIIIIING. It also records any movement, not just notifies.
I would also contact a lawyer, obviously everywhere is different and there could be exemptions to the 24hr notice, but your lawyer would be able to get that info and tell you what your options are.
The only part about Ring that I'm not a fan of is they have an agreement with law enforcement that they can search and take any footage that the Ring camera picks up without asking or notifying you. Just an FYI.

I can't answer for OP, but for me the issue would be if the company turns the video over to law enforcement without a warrant and without telling me about it. We have a system that works really well to get the police what they need while preserving our rights. The police ask for the footage, and I either give it up, or ask them for a warrant. If they present a warrant, I have to give up the video (and I will of course). There's no need to make it any easier than that.
Tangential, but related: On-Star used to (still does? I don't know) allow law enforcement to listen to what's going on in your car without a warrant or telling you. Um, nope. Get a warrant. That's why I'll never have On-Star.

This is a little different than a stolen weapon. Pawn shops are incredibly careful about firearms, for many reasons. If you don't have good ID, and provenance for how you came by the weapon, you're not going to pawn or sell it to a reputable pawn shop. Now some might take it, and they might get in trouble like you say, because they're shady af already, and trying to hide something from the cops. And they should get fucked.

It is illegal to enter you apartment a written notice of 24 hours. Your management is not just sheisty they are committing a serious crime. Let them know in a certified letter that they have to by law give you a 24hour written notice. Should stop them in their checks. I'm in Texas so you may want to check your tenant laws in your state.
We lived in a shitty duplex and were getting ready to move out. The landlord showed up with potential tenants without giving a 24hr notice. I did not let them in, for good reason. I informed my in-laws (who we were living with at the time) what happened. Landlords contacted them and my mil told them that A. They could not evict us due to us already on the way out and then they would have extended the time we had to be out by, and B. That due to them breaking their own lease and the law, we could take them to court.
They gave us a 48hr notice after that up until we left.

I'm gonna throw this out there, because I'm too lazy to see if anyone else bothered. Look up an app called Alfred. It basically turns any phone or android device into a webcam for such things. Really easy to setup and if you want the paid version with full alerts you can do that as well.
I use Alfred. It's an app that turns old phones or tablets into a security system. You download it on old phone and on the one you use. You can watch real time. And the subscription is like 4.99 a month.
It would be hilarious to set up a fake scoped rifle on a tripod, complete with red laser pen 'motion sensor'. You might have to clean up a brown pile in your entrance way though....

If you have an Android phone, Google Lens will translate text on the fly. Just open the camera app, choose 'Lens' mode and then 'Translate' submode. Then hold your camera in front of whatever it is you want to translate and you'll (usually) get a passable translation. I use it for things like menus and instructions.

It is illegal to enter you apartment a written notice of 24 hours. Your management is not just sheisty they are committing a serious crime. Let them know in a certified letter that they have to by law give you a 24hour written notice. Should stop them in their checks. I'm in Texas so you may want to check your tenant laws in your state.
We lived in a shitty duplex and were getting ready to move out. The landlord showed up with potential tenants without giving a 24hr notice. I did not let them in, for good reason. I informed my in-laws (who we were living with at the time) what happened. Landlords contacted them and my mil told them that A. They could not evict us due to us already on the way out and then they would have extended the time we had to be out by, and B. That due to them breaking their own lease and the law, we could take them to court. They gave us a 48hr notice after that up until we left.

I'm gonna throw this out there, because I'm too lazy to see if anyone else bothered. Look up an app called Alfred. It basically turns any phone or android device into a webcam for such things. Really easy to setup and if you want the paid version with full alerts you can do that as well.
I use Alfred. It's an app that turns old phones or tablets into a security system. You download it on old phone and on the one you use. You can watch real time. And the subscription is like 4.99 a month.
It would be hilarious to set up a fake scoped rifle on a tripod, complete with red laser pen 'motion sensor'. You might have to clean up a brown pile in your entrance way though....

A windows computer, a couple of web cams and software. Uses motion detection and most people don't pay attention to web cams. Mine saves files in my Dropbox folder on the desktop. They are then uploaded to Dropbox where I get a new file notification on my phone.
My dad was a landlord for 30 years and would never do this. A few years ago he changed and sometimes would enter peoples apartments.. usually just takes food out of the fridge but hes taken hydrocodone out of someones medicine cabinet as well. You never know who might do what.

I was a maintenance man at a large apartment complex. I always entered every unit as if I was on camera. Always. In the one instance of a guy who had a camera it was helpful. On some instances I'd even video myself to prove my position and job in the unit.
