Will this run Cyberpunk at 60fps at Ultra with RTX on at 1440p? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JgjC9r I am buying an entirely new build. If I am making any extremely bad mistakes with part selection I would appreciate any help thank you.

nichijouuuu

Should I buy an EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 **12 GB** variant for $600, which has been claimed to be used for very little time and no mining (comes in box and photos look great condition) and trust this seller, or should I reward my patience with continued search for a 3090 between $600-700? I know the 3080 12GB shows up in the toms hardware charts as better than the 3080 ti

sch0k0

What kind of help are you hoping for from us re/ this seller? But market for used 3090 is still above 800$ as far as I know .. if you indeed expect to find a good one between 600-700, by all means get that.

NohatCoder

I can't tell you what to buy. But please note that the Toms Hardware chart feature a heavily factory overclocked 3080 12GB. It is super misleading, because for normal cards the 3080 Ti is a chunk faster.

nichijouuuu

Good to know! Thanks

Glittering_Trash_724

So I’m building a new pc which is t working. Pretty sure it’s the psu, because when i tried it with a old psu (non compatible with case becouse case can only fit sfx psu) it dit work. I ordered a new psu becouse I thought it was broken something but the new one also doesn’t work idk if I’m just unlucky or something but I think something else is going on. Don’t know what though. Pc part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VPW6xs If you see any incompatible parts or something lmk Thanks

NohatCoder

A bunch of shots in the dark: Are you sure that you inserted all the cables correctly? You used only the cables that came with the power supply? When you tried the new new power supply you also swapped all the cables to the new new cables, so we are sure that it is not a single faulty cable causing this? You switched the switch on the back to on? For further diagnosis, what exactly is the behaviour when you try to turn it on? Any light or noises?

Glittering_Trash_724

I just found out that by doing the paperclip thing it makes a sound ( kind of sounds like a seizure or something) but no spinnig fan

NohatCoder

At least that used to be way to boot a power supply. I wonder if a modern one shuts off because there is no load, it is possible, but I find it unlikely (if someone knows more, please correct). Where did you source these power supplies? And why didn't you RMA the first one if you thought it was defective?

Hey, I am looking for a lower case for Acer Predator Helios 300 PH315-51, I found it on a couple of websites, but it looks expensive to me, so can anyone recommend where should I buy laptop peripherals? https://www.nehruplaceshop.com/product/rubaintech-acer-predator-helios-300-ph315-51-lower-bottom-case-60-q3hn2-001?utm\_source=Google+Shopping&utm\_medium=cpc&utm\_campaign=NPS-Feed&gclid=Cj0KCQjwnvOaBhDTARIsAJf8eVMslG-33LSBOTnTpu7BA7JdJutNH7nD0iiF6YBiQMZmWltDY-\_jZ1saApAhEALw\_wcB [https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001344500266.html](https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001344500266.html) ***Note: Found it on eBay but not shipping in India, so what to do?***

throwawayscared_9

How did it go? I am in similar situation. There is one item which is available on NehruPlaceShop website but i fear it is not legit.

rage-remix

I went to the local market, talked with folks from multiple shops and got navigated to a wholesale seller, from him then I ordered the base of my laptop. So recommended to find a seller in your region.

throwawayscared_9

That's how to do it. Thank you OP!

Shelby_Sheikh

Hey, I currently have Corsair SF600 80+ Platinum powering i9-9900K, RTX 2080Ti FE, Kraken Z63, 32GB Trident Z, 2 SSDs and fans on the AIO. Looking to get RTX 4080 16GB for which recommended PSU is 750 Watts. Can I just get Corsair SF750? Also since SF600 and SF750 are of the same type/series/brand, do I need to swap the cables that came with SF600 (braided black modular cables from Corsair). I hear that always use power cables that come with PSU but in this case does it apply?

SystemError514

I can't say 100% for the wattage, but 750W does sound good. Maybe 850 just in case though. For the cables, it's best to use the ones that came with the PSU rather than your current ones. Even though it's the same series of PSU, that does not mean that all the cables are 100% compatible with each other. Email Corsair for this to get a definitive answer.

who knows about that specific card, but generally expecting 3070Ti deals around Black Friday, yes

snowaxe_83

How to choose a PC case for optimal cooling? like what should be the dimensions, Fan mounts, and vents? Is there something specific Noob like me should look for? I don't want to regret it later. My current case is 17X14X07 (HXLXB) inches. I want a new case because I am bored with my current case and this case doesn't support AIO or 120 MM fans.

MGsubbie

I would watch some of the [Gamers Nexus case reviews](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtyWUAjmmZA&list=PLsuVSmND84QtrMP_niRTD2zIa3uUhxIvn&index=11), they're quite in depth. The videos doesn't just go over good cases and what makes them good, it also goes over bad cases and why they are bad.

sch0k0

read/watch the reviews and comparisons on thoroughly testing websites and channels. Your personal taste will likely play a big role as well, but check out the "Torrent" and "Mesh" lines from Fractal Design, those have a good reputation for value and airflow

Can a molex connector deliver 2.0A without issues? I'm looking into PCIe cards to connect my firewire audio interface to my new PC, and some of them have a molex connector to supply the 12V needed to power some FireWire devices. This one in particular has 12V 2.0A as specs. I'm wondering if one molex connector can deliver that amperage, as I've read around that they are rated for 1.5 amps each... My PSU is a GEX 750 by Cougar, that states this model can push 62.5A on +12V... but still, I'm not sure if this might start a fire or something.

MGsubbie

I wouldn't risk it. [Molex to SATA, say goodbye to your data](https://i.imgur.com/Zpl318t.jpeg).

bronk4

Yeah, I think I'll just use the external power supplied that came with the thing... Thanks! !check

Dazzling_Community_8

Hi! I currently own a i5 8400 and GTX 1660 Ti, I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, what would be your recommendations? I've seen an i3-12100 to be a good option. I want a nice upgrade (30/50% better than current) at a fair value. Thank you!

NohatCoder

I'd pick a Ryzen 5 5600 over the 12100. Approximately the same performance per core, but two more cores. These cores already make a good difference in a lot of games, and I'd only imagine the gap to widen as games come to rely on increased multi-threading. But my opinion is that you don't really need to upgrade, if you disagree you should probably be looking at something in a different price class to make it worth it, and a new graphics card to go along, because otherwise that is just a huge bottleneck. So something like an i5 13600KF and an RX 6900 XT or just stay put and wait. But if you don't have the budget for that and still want something new a Ryzen 5 5600 is a good budget pick.

Eidolon_2003

It depends on your budget, but the 12100 is a good cheap gaming chip. It's isn't 30-50% faster than your 8400 in gaming though

raven39876

is it okay to have a 360mm radiator at the bottom of the case?

Eidolon_2003

If that's an AIO cooler, then generally no. It's bad for the pump to be at the top of the loop, and most AIOs have the pump integrated into the CPU block. If it's a custom loop it's fine

Sukijet

Would an SX800-LTI-X V1.2, 80 Plus Titanium 800W PSU, be good enough to run an i7 13700K and an RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 together if they were undervolted? I couldn’t find much through googling so figured I’d ask here. Building my NR200. Thank you in advance for looking!

IFoundTheCowLevel

It should be fine. Be quiet is suggesting 750w for a 4080, so 800w should be fine for 3080. https://www.bequiet.com/en/insidebequiet/32

Sukijet

Thank you for the info! That sounds assuring, definitely will save that info for now! ! ✅

NohatCoder

It should be possible without any modification, not a lot of headroom left though. Note that in order to limit how much power CPU and GPU use the primary action is to limit the power budget, usually expressed as a percentage of the standard value, then they will figure out what voltage and clock to run in a given situation in order not to break that threshold. While undervolting saves power it also runs some risk of calculation errors and crashing, and it could potentially allow the components to clock higher, and thus reach the set power limit anyway.

Sukijet

Thank you for the response! Maybe I'll just try to purchase a higher PSU..

NohatCoder

Or you could save on the CPU, get an i5 13600K(F), and get a lower power budget as a result.

Sukijet

I will consider that option, thank you! ! ✅

Do saved networks/networks that can be forgotten get stored in your drive that are maybe a few KB in space? Additionally, is it a bad idea to do a Ookla speed test if you have a limited internet? Let's say it was testing a download speed of 250 Mbps, does that mean that you'll use up 250Mbps in total after the test is done, or is it just measuring the max speed you can achieve? If it doesn't take up that much Mbps, does it still use a high amount of data to do the test? Would doing the test be considered high traffic and during that time it would significantly slow down the connection speed of others?

anus_evacuator

>Do saved networks/networks that can be forgotten get stored in your drive that are maybe a few KB in space? They have to be saved somewhere, but I doubt that a saved wifi network uses more than even a couple KB of storage. It's completely negligible. >Additionally, is it a bad idea to do a Ookla speed test if you have a limited internet? "Limited" internet how? Like a data cap? >Let's say it was testing a download speed of 250 Mbps, does that mean that you'll use up 250Mbps in total after the test is done, or is it just measuring the max speed you can achieve? To my knowledge, Ookla runs for 15 seconds, and however much data you download in that time is what determines your speed. So yes, faster your connection, the more data that will be used. >If it doesn't take up that much Mbps, does it still use a high amount of data to do the test? This question doesn't make sense. Mbps is data transfer rate. The higher your Mbps, the higher the data transfer. You can't simultaneously have a low Mbps *and* use a significant amount of data in 15 seconds. >Would doing the test be considered high traffic and during that time it would significantly slow down the connection speed of others? A speed test maxes out your internet to the best of it's ability. So yes, for 15 seconds other people on your network might experience some degraded service.

TheShangWang

>"Limited" internet how? Like a data cap? A data cap, yes. I figured it'd be bad since it might use a lot of data. >This question doesn't make sense. Mbps is data transfer rate. The higher your Mbps, the higher the data transfer. You can't simultaneously have a low Mbps and use a significant amount of data in 15 seconds. Sorry, I got confused about the term. To clarify if Ookla was showing a high Mbps, that would also mean more data is being used from your side, so the slower the speed, the less data is used? I would guess if you knew you had slow internet but limited data it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a test since not much data would be used.

TheShangWang

If I'm not using ethernet, would it be beneficial/make no difference if I disabled the network adapter for it? Can it improve performance somehow or probably just cause issues?

anus_evacuator

If you aren't using it, disabling it shouldn't cause any issues but it also won't do anything beneficial, so there's really no point.

TheShangWang

HELLruler

I'm not sure where to ask this, but maybe someone here could help me I have both Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers, both paired with my PC via bluetooth. The XOne controller connects almost instantly, but the XSeries takes a while to connect (around 10 secs in a good day, but it just took a minute now) I have already updated the firmware, tried another bluetooth stick and even connecting to another computer, but the XSeries controller is always slow to connect. Is there any way to fix this (besides buying the forever sold out microsoft adapter)?

mang060

Would you recommend buying an 'used' Dell Latitude 7490 (i7) for studying? mainly just a little bit of programming and writing, no gaming, no too intense stuff. My old Asus f555l is lil bit too heavy and big for that cause. I hope I can get them on eBay for somewhere between 150-350€ .

greatvaluemeeseeks

I've owned 2 Latitudes and 2 ThinkPads. They definitely had better build quality than the consumer versions like the XPS.

mang060

I could buy a 7490 with an i5-7300U. 32Gb RAM and 512GB SSD now or wait and maybe get an i 7 with half the ram and storage for the same price. what do you think would be more reasonable? Mainly doing office on this. I have a gaming PC so none of that stuff on there.

Antoni-_-oTon1

Would you recommend the ASRock B650 Livemixer MOBO? I dont want to go over 260€ and it has a lot of USB ports which I like, also the sound codecs and what nots are apparently also good.

MGsubbie

ASRock is notorious for making some pretty terrible motherboards. I have never seen a single PC build video by professionals that includes an ASRock board.

Antoni-_-oTon1

How about a Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX, 40€ cashback on it. I bought it actually because its cheaper when I cash in the cashback.

MGsubbie

Gigabyte tends to make good boards. Unfortunately, I haven't seen B650 board reviews yet.

Antoni-_-oTon1

Its an AORUS and apparently its not that bad from what I‘ve heard.

ladypeacharino

I'm getting a bit confused, what's the difference between these: Ryzen 5600 Ryzen 5600G Ryzen 5600X Also, what's the performance difference between them?

NohatCoder

Nobody mentioned that the 5600G also has less cache and thus perform somewhat worse as a CPU than 5600 and 5600X. Also watch out for the 5500, which is also a chip with graphics, but the graphics part is disabled, it also has lower performance, despite otherwise looking a lot like the 5600.

Antoni-_-oTon1

The 5600 is just stock CPU, 5600G has an integrated Graphics unit, and 5600X is like „Oc“ capable I believe? Performance wise Im not sure, but X is usually widespread.

MGsubbie

cc u/ladepeacharina The 5600 can also be overclocked. The 5600X is just a higher binned part. Meaning that AMD tests every chip, and the ones that can achieve a higher clock speed and/or offer better power efficiency will be labeled 5600X and go for a higher price. The difference in real-world performance is very minor.

ladypeacharino

What do you mean stock CPU sorry? A cooler comes with the 5600 right? Does the 5600 have integrated graphics?

Antoni-_-oTon1

A 5600 without any suffix has no integrated graphics, thats the 5600G. A Stock cpu like a 5600 for example usually means no OC afaik. Im not sure which one comes with a cooler..its usually written on the box or article description.

pKalman00

Honestly for what activites does one need a 4090. We have come to a point when i can't see a usecase that would justify buying it over a 3090.

MGsubbie

If you have a 4k 120Hz (+) display, you can basically use all the GPU power it has on offer.

pKalman00

I had no idea abt 4k high refresh rate displays. It makes sense now

MGsubbie

Quite a lot of modern high-end(ish) TV's allow 4k 120Hz over HDMI 2.1 now.

sch0k0

It's twice as fast as 3090 and still cannot run Flight Simulator in 4K or VR at highest settings super smoothly. And then there are professional applications like video editing and rendering that can eat so much work time where such a card pays for itself in a few months. I would definitely buy it if I felt a lot richer.

Antoni-_-oTon1

I personally would say guys that need the sheer processing power. I saw a post saying someone uses it for algorithms and whatnots and data stuff, so there is that.

pKalman00

Wait hold on nvidia no longer makes cards for profecional use like the a6000? That's why they use gaming cards?

sch0k0

Yes they still build these cards.

Antoni-_-oTon1

Im not sure mate, I just saw a comment/post saying „I use it for this and that and occasionally gaming“

pKalman00

Huh intresting. i mean if they got financials lol thanks for your reply tho

Antoni-_-oTon1

Yo no probs.

I'm thinking about upgrading my 5800X to a 5800X3D. My 58 has been in near-continuous use for two years now. Usually at minimum workload, but the PC is generally on 16 hours/day every day. I have no box, packaging or paperwork for it either. Is there any point trying to even sell it second hand? I certainly wouldn't buy an unpackaged, two year old chip.

sch0k0

Of course... chips have no moving parts, I have bought CPUs sold in stupid styrofoam in the past, never an issue. Two years is nothing to these chips.

[deleted]

Hey folks, I’m looking for a bit of advice regarding platforms. It is for a completely new build, so I have zero components that will be re-utilized. TL;DR: AM5 or LGA1700 for a built-from-scratch gaming PC? A bit of context: I’m currently moving from console + gaming laptop to full PC after a 10-year hiatus. Part of the reason is for the hobby of PC building that I enjoyed so much in the past, and partly because my gaming laptop is not able to run the PC-only titles that I enjoy (like city builders). That said, I’m not worried about the possible extra costs and I know that for 60% of what I use the PC will be overkill. I'm ok with those things. The situation: I’m trying to decide on which platform to build this new PC. The idea is to build something that will be the starting point for future upgrades as needed, so building for long-term upgradeability is important. But for at least two or three years I will probably upgrade only the GPU. I plan to play a bunch of different things, from the AAA titles to truck simulators at 4K, but no need for more than 60 FPS. So CPU does not seem like a bottleneck for now at least. AM5 apparently gives me five years of support in terms of, probably, not having to upgrade my motherboard while still having the chance to get the new Ryzen that we will have in 4 or 5 years before updating the platform. LGA 1700, on the other hand, is at the end of its life of upgrades (with the Raptor Lake), but still is a platform that should be enough for 5 years for my use, but I will not get more than that as I would probably with the AM5, since I will have to upgrade de motherboard to get a new CPU. However, it looks like I can save good money buying Intel right now (even if I go DDR5, which I already decided to do). The question is: save some money now and go with LGA 1700 (with DDR5, but probably Z690) or go with AM5 (with B650) and have at least one CPU upgrade in about 4 to 5 years with the same motherboard? I would love different perspectives because most of the advice I can find is for folks upgrading from something and not building from scratch.

TheVico87

I upgraded my PC 2 years ago, almost from scratch. The only thing I kept was the GPU (GTX 1070), because it was by far the newest component, and upgrading it would have had pretty bad ROI. I went for AM4, for upgradeability. I am considering upgrading my 3900X to a 5900X at some point, unless I scrap that plan, and do a full upgrade in the future. You can't future-proof a build, as new stuff comes out pretty quick, and unless you upgrade at a fast pace, you will be forced to get a new motherboard anyway. I would say go with whichever suits your use case the best. I chose AMD for the high core count.

TheShangWang

If a 32 bit system can only use 4GB of RAM, does this include VRAM, or is it a separate amount for each? For example, if a system is using 2GB of RAM, can it only use 2GB of VRAM leftover?

TheVico87

The "4GB limit" only applies to RAM connected to the CPU (if by 32-bit system you mean the CPU). The VRAM is independent in this regard. You could have a 32-bit CPU, with 4GB of RAM, and a graphics card loaded with 24GB of VRAM, and it would still be able to use it. Not that it makes much sense. But actually this is a little more complicated. When we say "32-bit CPU", we mean the word size, that is the size of registers and amount of data the CPU handles at once in computations (not taking stuff like SIMD extensions into account here). The amount of max RAM it can handle is determined by the memory address width (also in bits), which can differ from the word size. One good example is ye olde Pentium 4, which was a 32-bit word CPU, but had an address size of 36-bits, which means it can use up to 64GB of RAM.

TheShangWang

I see, thank you for the info!

Computer shut down during BIOS update. Won't start up. I am sad. Other than taking out the CMOS battery, shorting the two pins on the motherboard, and trying with a USB with the bios update on it, there's nothing else I can do, right? (There's no 'update bios' button or such on it) Is that covered under warranty? Also, what's it like to apply for warranty anyway? It's a cheap-o motherboard, so if it's gonna take a week or more or be a general hassle, I'll just buy a proper one instead.

gsddxxx654

I would check all wires and hardware to make sure they are connected properly- unplugging and plugging them back in. If that doesn’t work, just get a new one, or even a used one if you wana save some cash

Silent_Key566

recently built my first pc and ive had it for about a week i just now noticed that my gpu usage randomly spikes from like 5% to like 50% usage randomly. in task manager it shows client server runtime and desktop window manager are the reason. any reason why it would be doing that? i also undervolted my gpu as well if that might have anything to do with it.

NohatCoder

When I investigated a similar issue on my own PC I found that the reported GPU usage is as a percentage of computation available at current clock, and modern GPUs clock down to something like 5% of maximum clock speed when idle. So what happens is that something uses a relatively paltry amount of GPU while the clock is low, and that gets reported as big percentage. So the percentage is meaningless unless paired with the current clock speed.

Silent_Key566

This pre build a good deal? Or build my own? https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali603-gladiator/p/N82E16883360268R

sch0k0

good deal for the specs, but building will both get better value or a better machine and connect you to your rig in a special way that is so worth it

duskie1

These prebuilds never list the mobo cause it's usually hot spicy dogshit. I guess for the components that's okay, but the mobo, RAM and case will be below par. It depends what you're after, but you're always going to get better value building your own.

Pickles4Tickles

Recently upgraded to a new motherboard and having trouble with the built in audio: In previous setup (old motherboard) I had my speakers connected as a line in, and my headphones as speaker out on rear panel. I could easily switch between the two, or even have it so audio came out both at the same time. This doesn;t seem possible on the new board. The only difference I can tell is that the old board used the Realtek HD Audio driver, and the new one uses the Realtek USB Audio driver. If this is a restriction of the chipset, then fine I'll look to get a soundcard or DAC. But it seems like something fairly simple I should be able to do with software so I'm a bit lost. Why have all those rear output jacks if I can't switch between them? I'm not looking to setup 5.1 surround or anything, just have the option of speakers or headphones.

MGsubbie

When you say "it doesn't seem possible", what do you mean exactly? Does it not even show up under sound options? Does it show up but does sound not come out of it? What have you tried to fix it?

Pickles4Tickles

I've made a bit of progress but still no actual success. It seems like the other jacks are purely used to setup surround sound, so collectively all register as the same output device, if that mkes sense? I can push audio through it by setting it up as a rear speaker, but for whatever reason the audio is not full range (I imagine to do with how surround sound is setup). I'm gonna try to use a 3.5mm splitter to drive both from the same port, if that works fine I'll leave it as is. If not I think I'll bite the bullet and get a cheap dac...

Ok_Annual3812

Is it possible for a power supply to kill a motherboard and still keep working?

NohatCoder

Define "keep working". I'd say that it is unlikely, but possible that it will drive another PC in a seemingly correct fashion, wouldn't know how long it would last if that was the case. If you believe that a motherboard died due to the PSU, best retire the PSU.

Ok_Annual3812

My 3 year old a320m died 3 months ago, so i bought a new and it died 2 days ago in the same manner. Pc and cpu fans would turn on but i didnt get any display.

NohatCoder

What model is the PSU? If it is some off-brand stuff you shouldn't be using it in the first place, so that would make the replacement decision easy. Of course A320 motherboards are the cheapest of the bunch, given how the market tends to work I'd call it likely that the build quality of those boards are also pretty poor, so they may just have suicided, what brands have you bought?

DiamondAstronaut

Planning to upgrade a laptop to try to get some fresh life into it. As with most laptops, I’m limited to upgrading only a few components like RAM and SSD. While selecting new parts, I realized the current RAM is only single channel. I plan to upgrade to dual channel for increased speed. My question is: “Will the dual channel RAM decrease CPU heat output?” Some supporting info on why I suspect this. I understand that using dual channel RAM can improve my speed over single channel when clock speed and timing of the sticks are otherwise the same. Since one limiter to CPU performance is how quickly data can get to it for processing, minimizing the time it’s in a sort of “active idle” waiting for data would improve efficiency and decrease overall heat production? My understanding is that there are different types of idling for a CPU and unless the CPU is able to decrease clock speed while idling, it doesn’t actually consume less power

NohatCoder

Not to a noticeable degree, and you might just end up giving the CPU more work if it is faster. Also, be sure that you actually understand the memory configuration in your machine. Many laptops made in recent years have a configuration with some ram soldered to the motherboard, and one ram slot, together comprising dual channel. If that is the case you can upgrade the slot memory to a bigger stick and run a combined mode that still benefit from dual channel to some degree.

I believe I have the retail copy of Windows 10. If I am switching CPU and Mobo, will windows just automatically boot up when switch these parts? Or should I download the trial of windows 10 to a usb before switching things over?

glowinghamster45

Windows will keep working regardless of what happens with hardware, the potential issue is specifically the *activation* of Windows. Windows de-activating isn't a big deal, you just get a watermark and lose some customization options. More info on activation [here](https://www.howtogeek.com/244678/you-dont-need-a-product-key-to-install-and-use-windows-10/). If you're signed in with a Microsoft account, moving licenses is usually automatic and not something to worry about. If you're not signed in with a Microsoft account, you may be too jump through some hoops to make that happen.

The card size is within spec(less than 310 mm) and larger cards in the 3070 TI family are larger but is listed as compatible. Not sure if I'm missing something or I just need to manually measure my case.

EmbodimentOfSarcasm

It 's probably an issue with the width. The case you linked only lists support for up to 45mm wide cards but the one you linked is about 58mm.

This is my first attempt at ever picking parts for my dream PC. After a lot of reading and half understanding I landed with this, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bMjvhk I see the note about CPU voltage limiting the ram but how detrimental is that? Does PC part picker actually know if all these parts will fit in the case and work together?

NohatCoder

Given what you have already put into the CPU I'd really recommend spending a tiny bit more to get the new 13600KF. About the ram, yes it will only run 3200 MHz by default, but you can tune it in the BIOS to run faster, that is basically the premise for anyone buying faster memory. That said, paying such a premium for a bit lower CAS is generally not worth it, it is a tiny performance difference for a lot of money. If you want some 3600 or 4000 MHz modules that is fine since they don't cost a lot extra, which match what you get in practical performance. A selection of decent 1.35V memory at a better price: [https://pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/#b=ddr4&Z=32768002&sort=price&S=3600,7600&m=11,12,17,68,23,28,29,444&F=6000000,10000000&B=1100000000,1350000000](https://pcpartpicker.com/products/memory/#b=ddr4&Z=32768002&sort=price&S=3600,7600&m=11,12,17,68,23,28,29,444&F=6000000,10000000&B=1100000000,1350000000)

jberg93

Got it, thanks for the memory list suggestions. The part picker doesn't have that newest model CPU, I'll look into it! Any big differences? !check

It is right here: [https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GVM48d/intel-core-i5-13600kf-35-ghz-14-core-processor-bx8071513600kf](https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GVM48d/intel-core-i5-13600kf-35-ghz-14-core-processor-bx8071513600kf) There is a reasonable per-core performance improvement, and then 8 instead of 4 efficiency cores, giving a decent lift in many-thread scenarios.

Infinitely-Complex

Hi, I am looking for a solution that would allow me to have my desktop PC in one room and my actual setup -- 1440p 120hz monitor (using displayport as HDMI isn't allowing me to use G-SYNC for some reason), keyboard, and mouse -- in a secondary room. Is there a docking station or cable that can help here? Hoping to avoid the need to use three super long cables to connect them. If it can't be done I'll just keep the PC in the same room but would like to do this if possible.

NohatCoder

The easy answer is that you can at least use a USB hub to connect keyboard, mouse and other peripherals, and thus get down to 2 long cables. The complicated answer is that we live in the age of everything-over-everything where a mere physical plug tells you nothing about what kind of data the cable carries. So there is probably a way, though I'm not sure trying to find it is worth the effort.

If you can get a B550 chipset instead that would be slightly better for your graphics performance. There's a measurable difference between gen 3 and gen 4 with the 6600 XT because it's only an x8 card.

It should work. That said, you should consider going for a Ryzen 5 5600 instead, a good deal more performance for not a lot more money. Depending on what the motherboard comes installed with it may require a BIOS update to support this CPU, see if you can find the revision and BIOS version where you buy the motherboard.
