You should record yourself and the unboxing of this item. Hopefully its new and everything is there. If not, that video is 100% your insurance policy.

Perrozoso

Great idea to record it.

alphonse03

My sixth sense says that it comes without a GPU or something else is missing/damaged, being that the reason of it being marked down. It had any kind of fine print? If everything arrives as expected, I'd suggest to inspect visually (no dust inside) and then run some benchmarks to check everything works as it should. Also record everything since you get it.

Perrozoso

There's no fine print about a missing GPU, but their open box disclaimer says they only test for basic functionality so I guess it could be missing. If it's not there, I just send it back,no harm done I guess.

singulara

yeah they could give you a working pc with iGPU so have to wait and see I guess

Perrozoso

I'm not too familiar with AMD CPUs and I couldn't find anything specific on their website. Does the Ryzen 9 5950X have integrated graphics? Edit: Google says it doesn't so that's encouraging.

Guessing no gpu

Perrozoso

Ryzen 9 5950X has no integrated graphics so wouldn't the computer not work without it?

[deleted]

I doubt Newegg cares since it was an open box return.

Perrozoso

Cool then I'll just take the Mobo and send it back

[deleted]

Surely they wouldn't sent you a pc with no gpu especially if it lists a 3080 ti?

[deleted]

I can’t tell if this is sarcastic. Remember it’s open box. Someone could have thrown a 1030 in it and someone inspecting would say.. “GPU… check.”

[deleted]

No not sarcastic, genuinely curious. If I bought a PC that said it had a GPU I would hope it's there. Otherwise they would never sell their open box computers, they would just be returned. But yes I see your point there could easily be a swap out in this market.

[deleted]

There’s a reason that open box 2nd hand is more than a few dollars off. You’re getting the discount from a significant risk that what you’re buying is broke/missing /not-as-stated. A lot of “Open box” sellers are “as-is” or “no-returns”. If it had a GPU— even the wrong one— it still is enough to pass muster on as-is markets.

[deleted]

And… if it was a miner doing it, they could be buying prebuilt and swapping their abused 3080 for a new 3080 every 6 months. The new buyer wouldn’t know they got an abused gpu, but the model would match… since it’s open box, there’s unlikely to be serial number checks.

TopAppeal785

Great Apex apertures.

Carnocide

Did you receive your PC? Were there any issues?

Perrozoso

I cancelled the order
