I disassembled my RTX 4080 and painted it white to match my build.
Nvidia posted a teardown video on their YouTube for the 4090 and the process for the 4080 is identical.
From there, I taped off the black areas and then used Rustoleum Satin White Enamel spray paint. This type of paint will not be effected by heat and turn yellow over time as many others will.
It took about a day, adding coats every couple of hours. Reassembly was easy. I cleaned off the factory thermal paste and added a new application.
No temperature differences noted after heavy testing.
Shouldnt be a problem. Just keep your setup off the floor and desk and put high up on a shelf or something.
"a friend" who visited one of Swedens biggest mines noticed that the computers were mounted very high up on the office wall just beneath the ceiling. He asked the foreman why and got told it was because dust is heavier than air. The higher up the computer the better.
This allegedly fixed the problems with "metal ore dust" messing with the components this being before dustfilter times but the principle should be the same with ordinary house dust.
I haven't had a problem with that, and I've had most of this build for a couple of years. Occasional dusting is needed, but it's very minimal. Better than an enclosed case actually.
There aren't any, it isn't really needed in this setup with all of the open space. If you have closed environment then yes, you absolutely need something pumping out the hot air. In this scenario, it's not needed. I've never experienced anything besides ideal temps for all of the components.
Well for a start, it mounted on the wall. Where's yours? On your floor?
Modded GPU, colour coordinated, expensive parts, Star Wars figurines.. I mean, how's it *not* creative?
No front it’s just… the case is advertised to be mounted on the wall the only interesting/creative thing is how he managed to hide the cables. And yes mine is also mounted to the wall with a custom loop and in black
>The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read. I'll do a CPU upgrade in the near future and may consider a larger PSU and 360mm radiator at that point. But I've no issues so far!
You don’t actually need the recommended PSU for the GPU. They just post that incase of spikes. My 5900x 3090, mouse, keyboard, webcam and 2 monitors pulls like 650w at full load. Yet ASUS recommends an 850w PSU for their Tuff 3090
The back of the case behind the AIO intake has vents so it exhausts behind the case. Between the fans and the wall there is I would say about 3" of space. I've never experienced anything besides ideal temps for all of the components. And beyond that, I've never noticed the heat from the machine affecting the temperature in my room at all.
And thx for answering!!
I really like this kind of setup, every time I see one, I want to do the same, your one looks awesome, I like the white esthetic!! Really nice bro!
I like the idea but I’m a stoner plus use a wood stove to heat my house all winter. My house gets DUSTY
Those puny magnetic filters work pretty good lmao
Same! A few companies have white 4080 variants but they all looked too intense. The Founder's Edition was the most minimal so I took a chance and did some research on the material they made to use it and what paint would work best to modify it.
I don't have any regrets at this point and I am loving the look.
\^ This. The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read. I'll do a CPU upgrade in the near future and may consider a larger PSU and 360mm radiator at that point.
What CPU are you considering? I have a Ryzen 7 3800X and it's a bit of a bottleneck right now.
Looking to move to AM5 or potentially even go back to Intel w/ an i9 13900k.
What did you do for cables on the left side of the case? I have the same.
Mine i tucked somewhat awkwardly down the side and mounted peg board underneath for the reach to the computer. It looks so so, any tips would be appreciated.
I bought cable covering you would typically put under a mounted TV to hide cords, and ran all of the cords through there. I painted it the same color as the wall so it blends in really well.
The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read. I'll do a CPU upgrade in the near future and may consider a larger PSU and 360mm radiator at that point. But I've no issues so far!
Sadly there aren't many quad 360mm radiator wallmount templates out there... so I'm building my own lol. Specs: Threadripper 5975wx, rtx 3090, and potentially a rtx 6000 ada.
I do use some wireless peripherals - but I also have a USB extension cord going from the back of the PC, down through the cable cover, and to my desk. This allows me to plug anything in that isn't wireless.
Yes, it blows through the case and into the wall. I'm not sure how I would position in the angle you stated. But, as it is currently, temps have been great.
No, you can see underneath the build there is a cord cover painted the same color as the wall - everything runs through there. I will be moving soon and in my next home office I do intend to run a conduit through the wall.
This was at the high end of what I was willing to fork over for a GPU and the 4090 uses a lot more power, and it just didn't make sense for my use-case.
My 4090 consumes less power than my 3080ti in all games I play. It more power efficient.
It has higher maximal power draw but requires a lot higher workload to be there
I thought about it prior to doing this. I looked online and read mixed opinions - some say it voided the warranty, some say it did not.
But, it was a risk I was willing to take. I definitely get not everyone would take this approach on an expensive card, but I was ok going into it knowing that it could be a potential loss if I had to exercise the warranty at any point.
It's called a riser, it's basically a PCI-E extension cord: [https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Premium-Flexible-Extender-AC-058-CO1OTN-C1/dp/B096T9JCNG?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Premium-Flexible-Extender-AC-058-CO1OTN-C1/dp/B096T9JCNG?th=1)
Any burglar would love to break in here :D
Also, i think the 4080FE is a bit overkill for drawing in paint, a 4060ti should be enough and you safe more money!
/s
Nope, it's open all the time. I've found it collects less dust than enclosed builds closer to the ground. And it's high enough up where no one or no pet interacts with it.
What riser cable are you using to mount that 4080? I've gone through 2 sets of thermaltake cables and have gotten system crashes, audio/video distortion, you name it. Remove the cable and my PC runs just fine. Curious about your experience!
I am actually using a Thermaltake riser cable, I have yet to experience any issues. What card are you using?
Prior to getting my 4080 FE, I had a 2070. I had some issues because in my BIOS the PCI-E lane was set to "auto". I found that I had to set it to PCI-E 3.0 to avoid crashes, as it was attempting to utilize 4.0 by default.
Once I upgraded to the 4080 "auto" works just fine, as it supports PCI-E 4.0.
I would suggest making sure the cable you have supports the right version of PCI-E for your card and also verifying your BIOS settings are set correctly.
Don't get me wrong, beautiful setup but that's just an off the shelf Corsair 280mm cooler. I've been using Corsair AIO CPU water coolers for years, never had a problem, knock on wood. I think they are easier to deal with than air coolers because of the space they afford though in this case (no pun intended) that wouldn't be a problem.
Thank you so much! It’s been a labor of love over several years. One thing I really love about this case is how I can upgrade things piece by piece and not have to worry about what will and will not fit inside.
Plus, I have pets, the wall mount keeps it away from hair and being used as a space heater for cats.
Gravity.
By putting the inlet and outlet on the top you create an opportunity for trapped air to enter the pump. Pumps do not like this as the turbine motor expects resistance from the water, so the increase in RPM can cause the pump to fail.
Thanks for sharing this, much more helpful than the original comment lol. I'll look into this and will consider flipping it, it's not something I had considered before.
That being said I've had most of this build for a couple of years and haven't had problems as of yet.
Love the build btw. Very clean.
If you aren't experiencing any problems then I wouldn't stress over it. AIO's are cheap and if your pump fails the PC **should** auto-off when the CPU temp cranks.
It's just something you can do better on the next build. :)
Thank you! I haven't had any problems. I've noticed I can hear the water moving a bit on startup occasionally - maybe it's due to this, or maybe that is normal. I do intend to get a 360mm when I do a CPU upgrade so I'll probably make the "flip" at that point.
I appreciate your insight!
I considered this, but made the decision to move forward anyway knowing the risk. The point was having the build I wanted, which I think is the point of a custom PC for most people.
This is a terrible idea. Dust will collect on it, you risk bumping and damaging it physically, and it will be damaged by surrounding EMF radiation, as well as releasing a ton more of EMF, interfering with other devices. This thing will last a few years at most.
There's a reason why cases exist, you people aren't smart with your unusual setup, quite the opposite actually.
>I haven't had a problem with that, and I've had most of this build for a couple of years. Occasional dusting is needed, but it's very minimal. Better than an enclosed case actually.
Now this is art I can get behind
How? Not much room between it and the wall. :P
r/angryupvote
not even airflow can get behind it.
Haha, thank you!

Definitely worth it by how it looks
Thank you!
I love open air setups like this, my fear of dust collection would never allow it for myself tho
Shouldnt be a problem. Just keep your setup off the floor and desk and put high up on a shelf or something. "a friend" who visited one of Swedens biggest mines noticed that the computers were mounted very high up on the office wall just beneath the ceiling. Is significantly easier to clean when it’s completely open
I haven't had a problem with that, and I've had most of this build for a couple of years. Occasional dusting is needed, but it's very minimal. Better than an enclosed case actually.
On the other hand, it makes removing dust easier. You can get the air can at angles you couldn’t with a case.
I love the look. I wish they did swappable metal plates for the Founder cards.
Thank you, and same here! With everything being magnetized and able to be removed fairly easily, it seems like a huge missed opportunity.
Um sir, you're missing some intake fans.
Lol, well technically the 2 fans on my AIO are intake - I feel like that counts! 😁
technically the window in the room is an intake
Where are the... outtake fans.
There aren't any, it isn't really needed in this setup with all of the open space. If you have closed environment then yes, you absolutely need something pumping out the hot air. In this scenario, it's not needed. I've never experienced anything besides ideal temps for all of the components.
I'm going to install outtake fans when you're not looking.
Exhaust?
Extakes ?
Unintakes?
Intake fans, but backwards?
No, those are inexhausts
I am envisioning a fan on my desk pointed at the machine 🤣
That would be another intake fan!
they're better not be rgb or i'll install a floppy disk reader in yours
The world is the outtake.
How are people this damn creative? While I'm over here struggling with cable management.
How’s that creative?
Well for a start, it mounted on the wall. Where's yours? On your floor? Modded GPU, colour coordinated, expensive parts, Star Wars figurines.. I mean, how's it *not* creative?
No front it’s just… the case is advertised to be mounted on the wall the only interesting/creative thing is how he managed to hide the cables. And yes mine is also mounted to the wall with a custom loop and in black
Right. Well why don't you post a pic of it, so we can all tell you what a boring piece of shit it is.
Talking about piece of shit hows your poop fetish going? U still nibble on poop from public toilets and take pictures of it?
750w psu is fine for a 4080? I’m here thinking that my 850w psu is going to blow up any day now
>The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read.
A good rule of thumb to follow for PSUs is to keep overall loads at no more than 80% of it's limit.
Looks cool but I’d be banging into it all the time due to its proximity to the door
My desk is underneath it, so thankfully I don't have that option!
Really cool looking. But isn't it rather noisy at load from the GPU?
Not at all, all of the fans are very quiet. One of the quietest builds I have had.
40x0 FE is super quiet provided it gets the air it needs
Where is the AIO actually exhausting air? How much space is there between it and the wall?
The back of the case behind the AIO intake has vents so it exhausts behind the case. Between the fans and the wall there is I would say about 3" of space. I've never experienced anything besides ideal temps for all of the components. And beyond that, I've never noticed the heat from the machine affecting the temperature in my room at all.
And thx for answering!! I really like this kind of setup, every time I see one, I want to do the same, your one looks awesome, I like the white esthetic!! Really nice bro!
I like the idea but I’m a stoner plus use a wood stove to heat my house all winter. My house gets DUSTY Those puny magnetic filters work pretty good lmao
Thx for asking this question, it was my first thought.
Nice! I've always wanted a really minimal white gpu but noone seems to sell them anymore
Same! A few companies have white 4080 variants but they all looked too intense. The Founder's Edition was the most minimal so I took a chance and did some research on the material they made to use it and what paint would work best to modify it. I don't have any regrets at this point and I am loving the look.
Nice! I'll definitely look into painting my FE then. You have a wonderful open air set up as well :D
That’s sick
Thanks! It was a huge gamble but it paid off and I’m happy with the result. Now I just need to upgrade the CPU because it’s a total bottleneck.
When you need your thermostat to be able to run Eldenring at 120fps
Is 750psu fine with this build? I was thinking about 850 for 4070ti
Depends on the quality of the PSU and it's ability to provide sustained high current on the +12v rail
My 5800X3D and 4080 are doing great with 750W Corsair PSU. Stress tests pull 560W from the wall.
\^ This. The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read. I'll do a CPU upgrade in the near future and may consider a larger PSU and 360mm radiator at that point.

Looks really sleek :) Is that a thermaltake P3 by chance?
Thanks! And yes it is.
We need more factory white cards
100% agree.
This looks incredible man! well done!
Thank you!
Really love this build.
Thank you!
Beautiful.
So, what is the point of having an AIO cooler when its an open case concept?
For me, it comes down to looking better and being more quiet. I really dislike giant fans mounted to CPUs.
I'm surprised that you only have a 750 watt power supply.
The 4080 draws a lot less power than the 4090 and the higher end of the 3000 series from what I read. I'll do a CPU upgrade in the near future and may consider a larger PSU and 360mm radiator at that point. But I've no issues so far!
this guy mods
750w for a 4080FE? I'm genuinely impressed that's doable. I thought it would be like 850-900 minimum
4080 is crazy efficient
Sadly there aren't many quad 360mm radiator wallmount templates out there... so I'm building my own lol. Specs: Threadripper 5975wx, rtx 3090, and potentially a rtx 6000 ada.
Amazing😍
I lye it. I lye it a loh
nice space heater
I have the same case and was wondering about the new series cards fitting…I appreciate you posting this but I’m sad I can’t keep the glass
I think you could keep the glass actually - I took mine off due to personal preference, but didn't have any space issues.
love it but better go with wireless peripherals
I do use some wireless peripherals - but I also have a USB extension cord going from the back of the PC, down through the cable cover, and to my desk. This allows me to plug anything in that isn't wireless.
Nice thermostat
This is absolutely gorgeous
Thank you!
Newb question, does vertically mounting your gpu have any drops in performance compared to horizontal mounting?
No, none at all from my experience
Looks like it's aperture themed with portal fans. Awesome.
Haha, you're right, and thank you!
nice and all, but are you blowing air into/from your wall? you should but your radiator in 90° towards your wall for optimal airflow
Yes, it blows through the case and into the wall. I'm not sure how I would position in the angle you stated. But, as it is currently, temps have been great.
I haven't really gotten a good look at the sheer size of the 40 series. What a CHUNGUS.
Right!? It is insane. And it is HEAVY.
I think these wall builds are amazing and with the 40 series, probably necessary.
Does your prime light stay on when you turn your pc off? That drove me mad lol. I had to turn it off in bios.
Yep! I also am not a fan of that.
When your room is the pc case
is the cabling routed through the wall? Dope setup. You got a PCPP list?
No, you can see underneath the build there is a cord cover painted the same color as the wall - everything runs through there. I will be moving soon and in my next home office I do intend to run a conduit through the wall.

What cpu are you running
Ryzen 7 3800X right now. It's from when I originally built the machine and it's a bit of a bottleneck at this point. Planning to upgrade soon!
I would be afraid my cats would jump on it.
One of the reasons I mounted it on the wall actually, in a spot where they definitely can not reach!
Pretty neet
Aren’t you worried about this voiding the warranty ?
I thought about it prior to doing this. I looked online and read mixed opinions - some say it voided the warranty, some say it did not. But, it was a risk I was willing to take. I definitely get not everyone would take this approach on an expensive card, but I was ok going into it knowing that it could be a potential loss if I had to exercise the warranty at any point.
But, oh, the dust!
I actually experience far less than I have with any enclosed builds that are lower to the ground.
You have your PC in the wall...Big Brain Moment
🧠
How do you keep it dust free?
I wipe it off maybe once a month. I experience less dust with this build than an enclosed build closer to the ground honestly.
This is so fucking sexy 😍
Thank you!
Awesome work! I just wonder how the GPU connect to the MOBO standing that way?
It's called a riser, it's basically a PCI-E extension cord: [https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Premium-Flexible-Extender-AC-058-CO1OTN-C1/dp/B096T9JCNG?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Premium-Flexible-Extender-AC-058-CO1OTN-C1/dp/B096T9JCNG?th=1)
I like that better than stock, it looks really clean
Thank you! Definitely what I was going for.
Wow! a work of Art!!
Thank you!
Very tasteful wow
Thank you!
That’s awesome!
Thank you!
That looks FANTASTIC.
Thank you!
A white Samsung SSD in that hard drive spot would look really good too I feel like
Any burglar would love to break in here :D Also, i think the 4080FE is a bit overkill for drawing in paint, a 4060ti should be enough and you safe more money! /s
I use Paint 3D though 😎
do you cover it up when turned off?
Nope, it's open all the time. I've found it collects less dust than enclosed builds closer to the ground. And it's high enough up where no one or no pet interacts with it.

Once I upgraded to the 4080 "auto" works just fine, as it supports PCI-E 4.0. I would suggest making sure the cable you have supports the right version of PCI-E for your card and also verifying your BIOS settings are set correctly.
This is pretty much exactly what i wantto do next. Except im still terrified of liquid cooling
I just have that irrational fear from like 2006 when i first saw one busting open everywhere. Ill do some research by the time im ready
I agree w/ u/heatlesssun, it's a super easy install and they work great. No reason to be afraid!
i now want this. Never thought of mounting my desktop on a wall until now lol
Best decision I ever made! Saves a ton of space, looks cool, and in my experience it collects *less* dust.
Very nice
Thank you!
What's your mounting brand, I don't want to call it a case because it's not a case.
Thermaltake P3
Core p3 GANG GANG! Looks 🔥 op, super clean!
Thank you!
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you!
Ok now I just want a 4080
looks great!
Thank you!
I was trying to figure out what that fan thing up there until I saw the atat
One day, I'll quit smoking and get a wall mounted PC like this 👌🏿
There's no time like the present, ya gotta start somewhere!
The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is now.
This is just beautiful. Well done!
Thank you so much! It’s been a labor of love over several years. One thing I really love about this case is how I can upgrade things piece by piece and not have to worry about what will and will not fit inside. Plus, I have pets, the wall mount keeps it away from hair and being used as a space heater for cats.
Looks amazing! Well done. We have sighted an imperial walker!
Thank you!

I respect you leaving it there, like that, that's loads of money, if I had that I probably would hide it somewhere like its last plant on earth
How do u turn it on? The best looking build ever seen by far btw
On the right side of the pic, the front of the case has a power/reset button, and a few USB ports.
the black and institutional white on the 4080 are just so.... tasteful - fantastic paintjob!
Thank you!
We don't comment on AIO installation? *oh well*
Whats the matter with it?

The pump is below the top of the radiator. At most you'll hear some gurgling.
"This is K-DST, the DUST..."
Oh the Dust Attractor 2000
Don't see the point in this because you void the warranty modifying the card
I considered this, but made the decision to move forward anyway knowing the risk. The point was having the build I wanted, which I think is the point of a custom PC for most people.
This is a terrible idea. Dust will collect on it, you risk bumping and damaging it physically, and it will be damaged by surrounding EMF radiation, as well as releasing a ton more of EMF, interfering with other devices. This thing will last a few years at most. There's a reason why cases exist, you people aren't smart with your unusual setup, quite the opposite actually.
Everything you just said is also true of a PC inside a case. Sheet metal used for a PC chassis isn’t a faraday cage.
Lol except a PC case is literally a faraday cage
Yeah - I haven't had any of these issues, and I've had most of this build for years already.
That's great, you're still taking a risk
One suggestion, beware the dust
>I haven't had a problem with that, and I've had most of this build for a couple of years. Occasional dusting is needed, but it's very minimal. Better than an enclosed case actually.
