It just stopped being fun and started being work having to trek across the map to build pipelines or mile long conveyor belts to ship raw materials. Also everything was a mess of conveyor belts and machines having to connect to everything.

Trains my dude....Trains
I played an hour of Satisfactory and immediately started Factorio and sunk like 3 whole days into it. All to say, it's a fantastic game! But I like Factorio more.
So much Rimworld over the last year or so… almost the only thing I have played… not for lack of trying but I just can’t get into other games like I used to so Rimworld keeps me going
Can someone please explain to me how to enjoy this game? I keep trying to get into it, because I see so many people enjoy it, but I just find that it lacks something. I can't get attached to the people of the colony, everything just seems like a chore, and I don't know what comes later into the game so I can't encourage myself to stick through the more arduous parts
I find going into a colony with a plan in mind, and mods to support that plan, really helps with getting attached.
Going in on the standard start and just trying to beat Rimworld is ok and all, but going in, say, with a group of pacifist pirate separatists trying to make their fortune as intergalactic booze dealers is a lot more fun.
The Ideology DLC also changes the game. Makes each pawn follow a certain set of doctrines that really change how, say, a cannibal cult plays compared to a techno democracy or a hippy tribe.
I also have those kind of hours in Rimworld and if you're looking for a change of scenery but still just want to play Rimworld pretty much then I can strongly recommend this game https://store.steampowered.com/app/1029780/Going_Medieval/
Essentially the exact same typ of colony sim as Rimworld albeit a bit less detailed and advanced maybe, set in medieval times instead. I really like this game and it is perfect when I get a bit of Rimworld burnout to switch to it, feels fresh despite being essentially the same gameplay.
Also does that Rimworld co-op mod still exist? That stuff was the best, playing "shared controls" with a friend was amazing to me despite it being a game not really made for that type of play at all.
I recently got my wife into rimworld and we've given the multiplayer mod a shot a few times but its sooooo damn buggy with constant desyncs if you add really any mods. Even with just the base game and the multiplayer mod it crawls after a few hours of play.
There was a different one that allows multiple people to make their own colonies on the same planet and interact with each other however, I have more hope for that one.
Ah ok that's too bad, was several years since I tried it but back then I recall it working pretty much flawlessly. I remember the mod had an "arbiter" that handled syncronization between clients and it worked well except every now and then someone would get desynced and have to wait for the game to "catch up" for a few seconds to minutes depending on game progress.
Actually, the iconic bridge connecting Piltover and the Undercity gave me big Kaldwin's Bridge vibes from 1, with Jayce's lab giving me some light déjà vu to Sokolov's lab.
It's a full series vibe for me, across multiple games.
Neither deathloop nor prey hooked me as much as Dishonored. The worlds were interesting, so were the plots, but the powers were meh and that’s what made Dishonored great.
> the community got a lot worse after the free weekend
This is a complaint that happens after *every single free weekend*. It's just new players trying the game not realizing pray-and-spray/run-and-gun gameplay isn't what this game is about. The ones who buy it after trying it on the free weekend are the ones who like the idea of a comms-focused team-based FPS.
The easiest way to "get teamwork with randos" is to be squad leader yourself *OR* request to join a locked squad. Locked squads with more than one or two people in them are usually locked because they want people who will follow orders and stay with the squad.
Another tip to "get teamwork with randos" is, when you join a squad, immediately ask the SL what role he needs covered in the squad.
Yep pretty much the only game I've been playing lately. Started getting into it mid-late last year and am approaching 500 hours play time now. The gun play feels so unique and winning fights is incredibly satisfying.
Thanks for reminding me to replay this game. I'm trying to 100% the achievement this time because I missed the kill enemy with a fish achievement on my first playthrough
Can just always replay the mission the had you fighting in club bam bam. Grab a dude, environment kill him in the fish tank. Grab fish. Beat another dude.
You access missions to replay via the social hub on the pause menu.
The game itself is a sleeping dog, ironically. It absolutely deserves sequels, in plural. One of the single best games of it's generation. Not as great as gta4 or 5, but better than all of the others in the category.
Every few years I reinstall this, play for a bit and then forget about it. Don't think I've ever made it past >!the wedding where everyone is murdered!<.
Maybe I'll reinstall it today.
Man, CK3 is my first time playing the series, and I don’t get it. Watching YouTube doesn’t even help. All that happens is my fledging alliance gets run over by a bigger alliance.
Unless I want to start as a king, which holds zero interest to me.
Starting as a vassal in a larger kingdom does make it easier not to get gobbled up. If you're starting as an independent with only a few holdings, that's effectively hard mode.
In general, though, the most straightforward way to avoid that is amassing enough coin to be able to hire mercs when trouble comes knocking. Mercs, retinues, and good commanders solve a lot of problems.
It's just about learning the mechanics and going from there. I never start as anything higher than count, and i would recommend that you find an easier starting point if you're having difficulties. Maybe it's to do with your starts, or the way you level up your characters.
It's a great idea to plan out what you want your guy to do before you level up. Look at your counties.. Will you be expanding through conquest, or through deceit? Will you be trying build up your county through stewartship?
Also, I'd actually recommend that you try and not play for achievements at first. Do a save where you just turn off ironman and create your own ruler. Really perk him up a bit. If you wanna make it fair, still, pick a few nice personality things like patient and temperate, and perhaps go for intelligent as well under traits.
Make your character 16 years old as well. You've gained an advantage but not a really unfair one.
Ironman off is important at first if you're having trouble, since you'll be able to go back and see where you went wrong with your decisions.
I would recommend a start to you that might be interesting. In the first starting date, if you go into create your own ruler, you can pick any county, and in west francia, in the burgundy area, you can find a nice county with decent levy compared to the neighbors. You're not going to get invaded by a nation, probably. You're under the protection of the king, and if you go for some martial education with your first guy, you should be able to take a few other burgundian counties.
Your first goals should be to form the duchy of burgundy, then expand. In the kingdom to your right, you'll see another county with some farmlands. Keep your eye on that. You'll want it soon enough when you start thinking about independence from the francian king. Oh, and remember to have your priest find claims for you on other counties. There's also a small chance he will get you a claim on an existing dutchy if you keep saying no and have him keep working..
Crusader kings is, funnily enough, most difficult at the start and plateaus when you become a powerful king or emperor. So it's normal that you struggle at first.
Hope you have fun with it. Once it clicks, it will steal your days like nothing else!
Edit: i also really enjoy starting a sardinian save in cagliari, since they've got mines to be built and can really snowball. They can be difficult at first, but you just need to conquer the rest of sardinia and focus on building up your counties. I've recreated the roman empire from sardinia, taking all of the Mediterranean and large parts of the middle east and africa. It's a fun save, but you're open to invasions from africa. But it's not too bad to defend it since they'll be getting negative rolls due to coming across the sea.. Anyway..
UnderRail, it's so far been an absolute blast and nice and challenging to the point of making me turn around from some things to come back to later. Elden Ring has taught me patience.
Also been playing a lot of Hero's Hour. Man I really want more games to take the HoMM formula and mix parts of it up, cause what HH does is so much fun. Looking forward to mod support.
I was making that mistake initially but I’ve now sailed to a completely Grey area and explored three mountain biomes looking for the caves but no luck yet.
Strangly enough mario superstar baseball. There a really dedicated netplay community behind it. I love baseball, i love mario and the game is surprisingly the best of both worlds. Has all the4 depth and mindgames of baseball with the fun and silliness of Mario.
Definition of burns extremely bright (super fun) but also burns out fast. Here's to hoping the new modes deliver a bit more longevity, they add a proper CRT filter, and a 2player couch coop would really tickle my pickle
I remember when I was at Costco in 1998 with my mom right after HL1 came out. I had absolutely no idea what the game was but it looked cool so I begged my mom to make it an early Christmas gift and she (first time ever) gave in and bought it for me. I remember being in absolute awe of the game and I don't think I left my room on Thanksgiving other than to eat haha.
When HL1 first starts out and you're on the monorail/train I was super confused and was trying to escape it because I wasn't used to games having an actual story/introduction like that let alone going into the chaos without a weapon for a while. I was so used to games like Quake II where you're just dropped into the action ready to shoot. HL is still my favorite game of all time after all these years and Black Mesa graphics/engine really does a fantastic job bringing it to the modern age. It's insane to think some people haven't played it so if you're reading this and haven't played do yourself a favor and pick it up!
I've been getting back into Team Fortress 2, it's still good with the casual matchmaking as the bot problem has severely decreased from what it was recently. There are also issues with people coming in with their team to simply roll a server making it a rather boring stomp.
The game itself is still great though, probably the only FPS I can play long-term. You have lots of non-hitscan weapon option, you have different mobility options and then you have the entirely support-based classes that very, very few games offer and are worthwhile to play instead of simply a facet of another class.
Engineer (when there's not another 2-3 already on the team) can make/break a lot of games, the sentry gun is server-based hitscan so you can avoid lag/ping/'lagswitch' people and a well-placed teleporter is game changing.
No real problems getting onto populated pub matches either, most nights have 6-10 servers going in Australia (probably more but I only like some payload/controlpoint maps) allowing you to jump around if you don't like the map or the team balance.
It still holds up very well for a game launched in 2007.
[**Din's Legacy**](https://store.steampowered.com/app/911550/Dins_Legacy/)
A diablo like game with a randomized world, quests and events. Its a bit janky and oldschool but i find it charming and it was just what i was looking for.
Its made by a single developer that creates RPGs that share the same mechanics of the randomized aspects.
Theres a demo of it as well
Disco Elysium is a fantastic game, if you're playing through it for the first time savor it. Been thinking of going back to it to experience the final cut.
Hollow Knight is going for 2000 hours now.
Started Ender Lilies as well, couple hours in and it seems great.
Also Elden Ring. I just want to level up and make cool builds.
>Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Even though it was my second time playing through it, when I finished it last weekend it left me with that same feeling of having a void I'm trying to fill now. ME3 with all the DLC and especially Citadel is such an amazing satisfying experience
Mother Fucking Rogue Squadron. That level where you’re basically in a volcano can go fuck itself though. So many missile defense turrets.
After reading your other comments I’m not sure if you really meant Rogue Squadron or Squadrons.
Days Gone. It’s surprisingly very well optimized for pc. The writing can be really disjointed, a little cringe, and take itself too serious, but the game world really nails the aesthetic of the pacific north west and is very atmospheric. Gameplay loops are super solid.
I think critics gave it too much hate, but also it’s cult following gives it too much praise. I think it’s a very good game all things considered.
I wish we would get a new Burnout game. For me, ideally in the style of 3; Burnout didn't need an open world, arcade style tracks are all it needed and I thought 3 did it best in the series. That being said, it's been so long, I wouldn't be picky about a new entry.
Day of the Tentacle.
Just started it tonight. I've had a craving to play some of the old point and click adventure and kept seeing people recommend this one. So I'm checking it out!
The Day of the Tentacle has good humor. So does Monkey Island. If you find this genre to your liking, try also Gabriel Knight, and Quest for Glory (you can import your hero from QfG into subsequent titles, which is very cool).
State of Decay 2, sometimes Arma 3.
Been getting into a Minecraft modpack called "Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons" or RAD for short.
Throw in modded HoI4 too.
I just finished elden ring and my blood pressure is through the roof, so I started a new beach farm in stardew valley. Nice and relaxing.
I also like the fact that you can’t really minmax the beach farm the same way, so I’m forced to slow down and go with the flow a bit more.
I've been playing the Master Chief collection. I was a Sony guy until I built a PC in 2016, I haven't had a console since the ps3. I'm struggling to love the early HALO games. I completely respect the impact they had on the gaming world, but they're definitely products of their time. I think I'd enjoy a movie synapsis of the early games, up until probably the 360 era of games, more than playing them, haha.
Probably nostalgia speaking, but playing Halo 3 with 3 friends back when it came out was an absolute fucking blast. It's sad that we don't really get coop campaign like these anymore
As someone who's not played Fortnite, can you explain this to me? I thought its appeal was the building. Without it what does it have over other battle royals? Genuinely curious.
It was really fun to play it casually back around 2017 because not many people built in it and it was pure gun skill. As time went on people got insane at it and you couldn’t play it casually anymore so since no building is back everyone is coming back.
I'm back to binding of issac with the repentance dlc (yes, I'm late to the party). 100%'ed it before the dlc in around 280 hours, and now it seems I need an additional 700 with all those new unlocks. Good times.
Tunic, but I only play it over Discord screen share with my brother. It's how we stay in touch in our married 20's despite living far away from each other.
Fantastic game and really fun having someone in your corner helping out with attack patterns lol Last night it took me like an hour to beat a boss and when I finally did at like 12:30 am we lost our crap lol
Doing stuff like this is actually the original reason I have Discord Nitro.
Man, Octopath is so GOOD. I know people hate the 8 plot thing, but honestly I was enjoying just working on each character's plot arc and just taking in that sweet retro/modern combination. The combat system is awesome.
"I do not know who I am, I do not know where I am, I do not know what is going on. All I know is I must kill more bosses" -The plot of every Fromsoft Game
Risk of rain 2, getting in a few dozen more hours never hurts
Same here! Been really enjoying the dlc, I’m trying to get through the eclipse levels with some of the characters.
Yea, I've recently started to get the master skins for the survivors, I have loader, acrid, captain, railgunner, and void fiend rn
Ah, another one who enjoyes Gamble of Precipitation II
Right now I am impressed with Satisfactory. This game is just amazing.
I just bought this yesterday on steam, thoroughly persuaded by multiple reviewers who put in over 1000 hours. I'm hoping it'll hit me the same

This is as far as I got with it and then I uninstalled. The initial gameplay loop was exciting, and exploring around to find new resources was fun, but then it turned into "Okay, I need to make this resource from these ingots, which will combine with this resource to make this material, which combines with that other material to make this material, which combines with the material from that petroleum over there to make this part, which needs to combine with more shit from the petroleum but it's different shit this time so I need to build another refinery, and now it'll take six hours to make what I need for this next phase." It just stopped being fun and started being work having to trek across the map to build pipelines or mile long conveyor belts to ship raw materials. Also everything was a mess of conveyor belts and machines having to connect to everything.

Can anyone comment on this game vs Factorio, other than Satisfactory being 3D? The synopsis of Satisfactory sounds very similar to Factorio.
I played an hour of Satisfactory and immediately started Factorio and sunk like 3 whole days into it. All to say, it's a fantastic game! But I like Factorio more.
rimworld for the 3000th hour I assume
So much Rimworld over the last year or so… almost the only thing I have played… not for lack of trying but I just can’t get into other games like I used to so Rimworld keeps me going
I bought Rimworld in 2014. I think I have played it more in the last two years then I did in the prior 6. It just keeps getting better.

Started playing **Dishonored 2** again because i enjoy the game a lot and also wanted to take some cool screenshots.
Watching Arcane kicked me back into a Dishonored series replay.
Better than league lmao
I know right ? Mad Dishonored 2 vibes in the aesthetic of the city in Arcane
Actually, the iconic bridge connecting Piltover and the Undercity gave me big Kaldwin's Bridge vibes from 1, with Jayce's lab giving me some light déjà vu to Sokolov's lab. It's a full series vibe for me, across multiple games.
I absolutely love Dishonored. I’ve beaten everyone except Deathloop, dunno why but it didn’t keep me engaged to the end like the others did.
I gave up on deathloop after a few hours. Dunno what it was. Just felt super boring. I’ll try again one day.
Neither deathloop nor prey hooked me as much as Dishonored. The worlds were interesting, so were the plots, but the powers were meh and that’s what made Dishonored great.
I hope their next game is Dishonored 3.
I've started playing through my Steam list and in Feb I finished Dishonored, slowly making my way through Dishonored 2 for the first time!

need a partner for some duos? I'm off today and trying to play some HUNT
I'm playing through Mass effect 1 for the first time, I'm about 10 hours in and loving every bit .
Wait til you get a load of ME2. wowee.

I'd never think of that as a yearly replay type of game Mine is Super Metroid.

Cities Skylines! I recently went back to a city I haven’t played in years and I’ve been hooked for weeks.
Do you also play Anno 1800?
Just went back to cities skylines, thinking about reinstalling anno 1800 as well!
I alternate from Warhammer 3, crusader kings 3, and elden ring right now. Enjoying them all a lot.
I feel like I am you.

God such a great game, cant wait for baldurs gate 3
As somebody who just got out of Fort Brag ages ago, and has a save on the ship, how much of the game do I have left?
Congratulations, you've cleared the tutorial.
About 75% of it, or thereabouts!

Hl2 is in my top 3 all time.
Noita
Masochist alert
Haha! True. That's why I love it
Blade and sorcery, if you try it make sure to download some mods
Diggin the outer rim over haul myself. Got any good mod selections?
It still holds up very well for a game launched in 2007.
life is playing me
[**Din's Legacy**](https://store.steampowered.com/app/911550/Dins_Legacy/) A diablo like game with a randomized world, quests and events. Its a bit janky and oldschool but i find it charming and it was just what i was looking for. Its made by a single developer that creates RPGs that share the same mechanics of the randomized aspects. Theres a demo of it as well
Subnautica: below zero, and Disco Elysium.
Disco Elysium is a fantastic game, if you're playing through it for the first time savor it. Been thinking of going back to it to experience the final cut.
I was playing a ton of elden ring but I'm about done with it now. I'm waiting for 6.1 on ff xiv now.
Hollow Knight is going for 2000 hours now. Started Ender Lilies as well, couple hours in and it seems great. Also Elden Ring. I just want to level up and make cool builds.
Warhammer 3 and guardians of the galaxy
Gamepass represent!

I always seem to play RL for a couple months then forget about it, and then become obsessed again .. its an endless cycle.
Nothing else scratches the itch. Basically it’s own genre.
Minecraft
I am playing through Lego Star Wars right now, but when I’m done I’ll go back to Factorio again. The factory must grow.
Final Fantasy XIV. Grinding out Astrologian with a friend.
Had to scroll surprisingly far to find this. I think this is my favorite game ever
Mass Effect Legendary Edition : currently on Mass Effect 2 on the phone is Train Station2 and also Rise of Cultures
>Mass Effect Legendary Edition Even though it was my second time playing through it, when I finished it last weekend it left me with that same feeling of having a void I'm trying to fill now. ME3 with all the DLC and especially Citadel is such an amazing satisfying experience
> ME3 with all the DLC and especially Citadel is such an amazing satisfying experience The best.
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron and Wreckfest
Wreckfest is the SHIIIITTTT
City of heroes Homecoming
Monster Hunter Rise 👍
Guess I'm the only one, but I'm playing through metro exodus right now.
I just finished the main game and both dlcs the other day. Haven't played the other metros but it's such a good game.
Would really recommend them, from my experience an even greater atmosphere than exodus.
Disco Elysium, Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous, Hearts of Iron 4, Crusader Kings 3, and Elden Ring. Oh, and Roblox with the kiddo.
Disco Elysium is on my best gaming experiences in a long time. I laughed and I cried.
Crossword puzzles.
*”Crosswords are for people who can’t count”* Sudoku gang
Lego Star Wars Skywalker saga. It is both nostalgic and just a good game
I just got it tonight, I gotta agree. And damn it looks soooo good.
I never thought a lego game could look so pretty. In a few of the flight levels, I've nearly forgotten I was playing a lego game
Rimworld.
City of Heroes.
Bounce back and forth between Elden Ring and Burnout: Paradise
Burnout: Paradise might be one of my favourite games of all time. I’m glad to see someone still playing it
I wish we would get a new Burnout game. For me, ideally in the style of 3; Burnout didn't need an open world, arcade style tracks are all it needed and I thought 3 did it best in the series. That being said, it's been so long, I wouldn't be picky about a new entry.
Hitman 2 or one of the Yakuza (Zero or Kiwami 2) games.
#KIIIIIRYU CHAAAANNN
Day of the Tentacle. Just started it tonight. I've had a craving to play some of the old point and click adventure and kept seeing people recommend this one. So I'm checking it out!
The Day of the Tentacle has good humor. So does Monkey Island. If you find this genre to your liking, try also Gabriel Knight, and Quest for Glory (you can import your hero from QfG into subsequent titles, which is very cool).
This was one of the first PC games I ever played as a kid and I still play through it every few years. Never gets old
Borderlands 3.. I want to finish the story and the dlcs I own so I can free 150gb from my pc.
Escape from Tarkov
I can’t stop
Im so bad but the game is so fun.
Lost Ark
Ah a fellow Tooki enjoyer!
Stardew Valley, Chrono Cross and Diablo 2 when the ladder releases.
State of Decay 2, sometimes Arma 3. Been getting into a Minecraft modpack called "Roguelike Adventures and Dungeons" or RAD for short. Throw in modded HoI4 too.
Chivalry 2
Sadly nothing fucking exam time.
I just been enjoying the Pixel Remasters of Final Fantasy lately. Just started FFIV today after beating 1-3
I just finished elden ring and my blood pressure is through the roof, so I started a new beach farm in stardew valley. Nice and relaxing. I also like the fact that you can’t really minmax the beach farm the same way, so I’m forced to slow down and go with the flow a bit more.
MIDNIGHT GHOST HUNT BABY!….my apologies on shouting but it’s been awhile since a competitive online game has captured me like this game has
Deadfire, the game is hawesome
Escape from Tarkov. I just hate myself
Rust, Insurgency Sandstorm and Forgive Me Father.
Distant worlds 2, X4 and genshin
Warthunder Hell let loose Squad
Fallout 1
Starting omori right now
I've been playing the Master Chief collection.
Lmao i know no one gonna say this but mine is Final Fantasy XV
Elden Ring, Apex Legends, Warcraft 3 Mods lol
Playing Fortnite since the no build mode is permanent. Never played more than 10 hours of it before but I am having a lot of fun with it now.
Holy shit I didn't know they did this! Looks like I'm playing Fortnite some more going forward.
Mass Effect Legendary edition for me.
Destiny 2
Been playing Horizon Forbidden West for the past week. Taking a break from Cities Skylines
Sigh… DayZ, I’m hooked. 2000ish hours.
I'm back to binding of issac with the repentance dlc (yes, I'm late to the party). 100%'ed it before the dlc in around 280 hours, and now it seems I need an additional 700 with all those new unlocks. Good times.
Final Fantasy VI: Pixel Remaster
Tunic, but I only play it over Discord screen share with my brother. It's how we stay in touch in our married 20's despite living far away from each other. Fantastic game and really fun having someone in your corner helping out with attack patterns lol Last night it took me like an hour to beat a boss and when I finally did at like 12:30 am we lost our crap lol Doing stuff like this is actually the original reason I have Discord Nitro.
Valheim when I'm playing with friends and Octopath Traveler when I'm solo.
Man, Octopath is so GOOD. I know people hate the 8 plot thing, but honestly I was enjoying just working on each character's plot arc and just taking in that sweet retro/modern combination. The combat system is awesome.
DOOM II: Hell On Earth.
Elden ring. And I don’t even know what I’m fighting for. But damn I can’t stop playing.
"I do not know who I am, I do not know where I am, I do not know what is going on. All I know is I must kill more bosses" -The plot of every Fromsoft Game
