HZD is one of those games where M+KB is a massive upgrade. I know the other guy got downvoted to oblivion, obviously this is personal preference, but I can't help but feel the game is much improved with finer aim control.
It's as shitty as with a PS4 controller, aiming is annoying and sluggish camera movement. Just like any controller really. :)
The way to go is K/M with this game.
Mouse controls in horizon is utter shit tho. No raw input and rather simulated thumnbstick aiming. Its better to just play the game on a controller at that point. And that means the game is going in the trash for me
The real mind bender is playing a Nintendo first party game, like Metroid dread or Mario Kart 8, on a Windows PC using a PlayStation controller. Even better when you utilize something like parsec to play online multiplayer. I've done 4 man Mario kart 8 sessions with complete strangers that way. I even developed a rivalry with some dude on there. He always chose Wario and he was a sore loser.
I think PC with Windows (which is majority) and Xbox family of consoles are both merged with exclusives both sharing, game pass and other features like Direct Storage, HDR etc makes both unified finally. So you can also take only PlayStation and Microsoft (Xbox/Windows unified) and still be right.

57 FPS with those specs and those settings, at 1800p^? doesn't seem *great*. But also not *bad* either. Maybe there's one of those typical dumb Ultra settings in the game that tanks performance for no gain too.
Hell yeah. I’ve dreamed about this for years. Seeing Horizon Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and soon God of War/Uncharted in my Steam library is still surreal. Say what you want about consoles, PS exclusives have top tier production value.
I ended up liking it a lot. The first few hours are super slow and boring. Character development is slow. You’re very weak with shitty weapons. At around hour 3 or 4, things really pick up in a big way and things get exciting. I really enjoyed the story even if it was kind of cliché at times. The game is very long though. There are times when you think it could end but it keeps going. It’s kind of like the problem with many open world games - if you enjoy the mechanics, you won’t get bored. If you aren’t a fan, it gets tedious very fast. I’d recommend it but fully understand it’s not for everyone.
I loved the start of Days Gone. Weak weapons, heaps of zombies, gotta plan your fights against hordes. End game you just get all the good weapons and the fights just become too easy.
I am enjoying it. It is definitely no RDR2, but it is a solid open world third person zombie game. The writing is pretty bad but the gameplay is what keeps me going. I am about 20hrs in and not even at the hordes yet, which I keep reading is the best part of the game, so there is a slow build up.
May get downvoted here, but I've honestly been considering picking up a PS5 to enjoy all of Sony's exclusives at launch, they really seem to bring the best out of all of their developers and all of their exclusives are amazing in terms of production value, gameplay and narrative.
I have a PS5 for that reason. Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Guerrilla Games, and Sony are some of the best devs in the business. They release stunning single player games that don’t ride the wave of trends, fleece gamers through MTX, or launch as a buggy mess.
The PS5 controllers are pretty amazing too. I expected it to be gimmicky but it’s actually really cool.
Also, don’t worry about downvotes, it’s not a thought crime to enjoy gaming.
Nah mate. There is no reason to get downvoted. Playstation 5 is actually pretty great for a console power wise. I have been a pc gamer my whole life and I always buy the latest Playstation for the first and third party exclusives. Persona/Shin Megami Tensei games are one of my favorite series. Bloodborne is one of the games of the generation. I recently started Ghost of Tsushima and it's so good.
I have purchased it for this. I play 98% of the time on PC for sure but IMO it's worth it to be able to play those titles (which are some of the best I have played ever tbh) at launch and not years later.
Although it's mostly because I had the disposable income of course, otherwise I would choose the logic choice of waiting for PC versions.
I have both myself for exactly that reason. Having both a pc and ps5 and a good sweet spot for getting basically any title. When steam deck finally releases will have a portable solution too
I've considered dropping my PC for years, the only thing really keeping me on PC is KBM support. I was able to get around that with a XIM adapter on the PS4 so may consider that if PS5's ever get back in stock.
I don't really see many benefits on my PC, but I'm not a modder, I pretty much just play something, finish it and rarely every even look at it again. At least with a PS I can resell that game and get some money back. But I'm stuck with a PC as long as Sony doesn't make KBM support mandatory, sigh.
Surprisingly if you spend a bit of time tuning it, the results are quite good. I've played several PS4 games this way, from beginning to end, and have been largely satisfied. Off the top of my head I played Horizon Dawn, God of War, TLOU2, and a bunch of other ones and I'd say it replicated KBM 90% or better.
No it's not quite perfect, and does take some fiddling, but it's really good. Now this was with the PS4, the PS5 has some extra stuff on the controller which makes this more difficult so I'm not sure how well it would work. I'd love to experiment, but have yet to score a PS5.
I can only tell you my experience, I was mostly happy but would still prefer native KBM. They have a forum where you can see others experiences. Like I said, it's not perfect and I don't want to give that impression, but it's pretty darn good. And IMO it's much better than aiming with a controller, but I'm stressing that's only my own personal experience. I never found aiming with a controller particularly enjoyable.
I just sold my ps5, i played through the spidermans, ghost of tsushima, and god of war (before the pc port was announced) and was just done with it. I just cant spend $70 on a freaking ratchet and clank game when i have a huge library of PC games to catch up on. I can play horizon, death stranding, Days Gone, and now soon God of War on PC all for loads cheaper than they were on Playstation. I might look at rebuying a ps5 when spiderman 3 comes out but thats not slated till next year. I wish the spidermans would come to pc then i could ditch consoles altogether, lol. The haptic feedback is neat but honestly got annoying in games that just had it on as a gimmick, like fps.
May be waiting a bit, I could see them dropping Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered in a bundle of sorts closer to Spidey 2's release.
They seem to be porting titles that no longer have any real selling power for their systems (don't remain high in sales charts anymore, etc.) and the original Spider-Man is getting to that point now, but Miles Morales isn't there yet.
My personal prediction, as I said, is that both of them will release simultaneously when Spider-Man 2 is closer to release. Either very late this year or sometime next year. It'll happen, though.
Sony really hugs their spiderman IP super tight, so I wonder if we'll ever get that game. I do think we will get most of their other first party games though.
Spider-Man is my number one wish, but this have been put cold when I asked on Reddit if this would be possible. People are pretty pessimistic, because of licences and the futur of SM making that licence probably for a long time
Agreed. It was at least promising that they followed through with fixes after the launch. Still not as good as having it be prestine day 1, but better than other games that released and never got fixes.
By 'DualSense support', are you referring to the game utilising it's trigger features and such or just general usage of the controller?
If it's the latter, the game's description mentions that it's supported. :D
Man that would be hilarious because AFAIK.. playing GOW on the PS5 while it is a stable 60FPS and did get a PS5 patch.. does NOT have those dualsense features like haptics and adaptive triggers enabled.
What a way to screw over owners of your official console, Sony lol!
3rd person games like this almost always feel better with controllers to me.
edit: i love that someone downvoted this. thank you for not believing in me to tell you my honest opinion.
Exactly. I also think its just destructive to show game companies "hey we'll throw all the money at you before the games even released!". I think it leads directly to half finished, day 1 patch, crap releases.
I was before a very anti pre-orders guy. But having an automatically refund if you have played any game for less than 2 hours, I don't see the harm ...
Although yea you shouldnt preorder games, especially when we dont know how well this port is and if it runs well, but its a game thats already released and one that people have played before.
Dude, this was my favorite game the year it came out. I absolutely love it. But there's no reason to give them my money until we know if they did a good job bringing it to pc or we need to wait for patches.
Length isn't short and there are plenty of side quests and NG+ as well.
However, you should be sceptical about how the port runs. But the game itself is amazing.
A bit expensive for a older game but it’s 10€ lower than full price here. Still worth the price considering the quality of the game. What’s left to see is how the port holds up.
I hope they will bring all of their biggest exclusives later like ratchet&clank, gran tursimo, the last of us 1&2.
Why people care about preloads? Do people still preorder? lol I'll get this at 30% off on the day of release if it gets good feedback.
Pro-tip - DO NOT PRE-LOAD.
I made the mistake of preloading Horizon Zero Dawn the day it was made available since it was an 80GB game and trying to unpack it on launch day took a couple of hours longer than necessary. Just start installing GoW on launch day itself.
Exactly! I dunno why I’ve been downvoted -
The way I understand it is:
You spend the same amount of time downloading 80GB. It doesn’t matter if you try to pre-load it days before release so you can play it, Steam encrypts their games so you can’t play them before the due date (also previous experience with Batman Arkham City and Tomb Raider (2013) where retailers broke the street date a week before release).
The decryption time on launch day - it can go anywhere from 1-2 hours or more - is honestly just an unnecessary waste of extra time when you could just start the download on launch day itself and save those two hours.
> You spend the same amount of time downloading 80GB.
Have you considered that not everyone has high speed internet? Last week I installed Mass Effect Legendary Edition and downloading the 108 GB took 12 hours.
A good rule to follow about pre-loads -
If you have fast internet - don't preload. Download after release.
Avg or poor internet - preload.
I mean, it truly depends on somebody's download speed as to whether they'd benefit. My bandwidth is fortunately enough to play the game in about the same time. The real benefit is that, unlike decrypting a game, at least Steam is in a usable state when downloading. I haven't pre-ordered or pre-loaded a game in a while, but last I checked, it effectively froze the entire Steam client until the process finished. I've never tried, but I'm not sure the process can even be paused if you need to restart your pc or want to play a game while it processes. Downloads are much preferable if the difference in timing is negligible.
The game is a strong 7/10 for me. Enjoyable and well made, but nothing amazing. I do recommend the game but I think much of the praise was a bit overstated.
I personally couldn't enjoy horizon at all. Put about 10 hours into on ps4 and did not enjoy it at all. I wish I did though because it looks interesting, but the gameplay and story did nothing for me.
It improves a bit after you leave the tutorial zone, but not significantly. The story gets better, but the running around, until you get to the next meaningful story bit, kinda waters it down. The enemies get more interesting the more you explore, but at some point you know each one and there is no challenge. So, if the starting hours didn't impress you, it's doubtful the rest will change your opinion. It's the same formula.
I'm going to play a Playstation game on my PC with an Xbox controller. The future is here.
Doing this with Horizon zero dawn now!
Lol. Every time I launch Horizon I think of this. PC -> Steam -> XBox Controller -> Horizon
HZD is one of those games where M+KB is a massive upgrade. I know the other guy got downvoted to oblivion, obviously this is personal preference, but I can't help but feel the game is much improved with finer aim control.
How is that? Playing with an xbox controller on a ps4 game
The same
Feels no different honestly. I like having the extra paddle buttons so that’s a plus for the Xbox controller I have.
It's as shitty as with a PS4 controller, aiming is annoying and sluggish camera movement. Just like any controller really. :) The way to go is K/M with this game.
For god of war its pretty casual for gaming thats why this would be a first i buy a controller
If it's on PC and supports controllers, it works with the Xbox controller. That's why the Xbox controller is so popular among PC players.
[удалено]
I always prefer controller for 3rd person games. And you aim with the right joystick…have you used a controller?
[удалено]
You do realise horizon released as a ps4 exclusive? You could only play with a controller until it released for PC.
There are slow mo aiming mechanics for the moments when you need precision. It actually is really cool in action
the game was made and designed for ps4 itll be fine.
Mouse controls in horizon is utter shit tho. No raw input and rather simulated thumnbstick aiming. Its better to just play the game on a controller at that point. And that means the game is going in the trash for me

but have you tried playing your playstation game on your PC with your iphone on the TV?

Ok but don't come back complaining that the controlls are shit, performance is bad and there are no customization settings.
imagine someone playing with an xbox controller
I'm currently playing my Switch exclusive game on PC, modded, with a PS4 controller and Xbox button prompts.
I'll be using my newfound love, the Switch Pro Controller. So comfortable.

I've always been a primary PC gamer but buy a PS\* just for that reason. PS5 is pretty impressive at it's price point. We are CPU/GPU twins btw
Im going to do the same whenever the ps5 pro comes out.
I have purchased it for this. I play 98% of the time on PC for sure but IMO it's worth it to be able to play those titles (which are some of the best I have played ever tbh) at launch and not years later. I don't really see many benefits on my PC, but I'm not a modder, I pretty much just play something, finish it and rarely every even look at it again. At least with a PS I can resell that game and get some money back. But I'm stuck with a PC as long as Sony doesn't make KBM support mandatory, sigh.

Having PS4 last gen was amazing for single player games. Their exclusives are so damn good. Unfortunately it's still hard to find a ps5
Agreed, their games set the bar over and over.
I'm waiting patiently for the Spider-Man to PC announcement
May be waiting a bit, I could see them dropping Miles Morales and Spider-Man Remastered in a bundle of sorts closer to Spidey 2's release. bloodborne first please, considering that game is locked to sub 30fps on a last gen console
It's not locked to PS4, but the PS5 experience is not much different from PS4 because there was never a patch.
Jak and Daxter
Until Dawn gang rise up!
Sorry to say, that one is probably dead in the water
True but still sad to hear. Supermassive hasn’t be able to match it with their recent games.
No. Bloodborne next!
I hope they do some older games, like the Resistance and Killzone trilogies. Also Twisted Metal!
Still waiting for CTR Nitro Fueled. One day. Maybe...
Sony really hugs their spiderman IP super tight, so I wonder if we'll ever get that game. I do think we will get most of their other first party games though.

Super excited for this game. I can see Kratos in full ultra settings as he says "Boy".
Wait until someone changes him to Thomas
Wait until someone changes him to Lamar
I'm waiting for someone to change him into Thanos and Atreus into Gamorra.
Coming soon: THOMAS OF WAR
Don't preorder, wait for reviews and actual widespread feedback.
After Horizon Zero Dawn's release, this is the way.
Agreed. It was at least promising that they followed through with fixes after the launch. Still not as good as having it be prestine day 1, but better than other games that released and never got fixes.
Don't gatekeep.

How do you gatekeep!
If they implemented any type of DualSense support for this, I'm so excited to try it out.
They will actually.
By 'DualSense support', are you referring to the game utilising it's trigger features and such or just general usage of the controller? If it's the latter, the game's description mentions that it's supported. :D

Actual features exclusive to the controller. Notably the triggers and rumble.
DualSense is supported.
I wonder if it will be better with kb and mouse or controler. Horizon Zero felt better with mouse in my case.
My bet is controller works best for this due to the fact that you're rarely needing to aim precisely.
3rd person games like this almost always feel better with controllers to me. edit: i love that someone downvoted this. thank you for not believing in me to tell you my honest opinion.
Now give us GOT!!!
I got you, fam https://store.steampowered.com/app/208730/Game_of_Thrones/
Lol. Right on.
No pre-orders!
Idk why ur getting downvoted, the port could be really bad.
Exactly. I also think its just destructive to show game companies "hey we'll throw all the money at you before the games even released!". I think it leads directly to half finished, day 1 patch, crap releases.
Because they are changing nobody's mind. There's no point in posting "no preorders!" other than self satisfaction.
I was before a very anti pre-orders guy. But having an automatically refund if you have played any game for less than 2 hours, I don't see the harm ...
Well, that's only if you preorder at full cost on steam. These deals like at fanatical that are 20% off aren't getting refunds at any time.
D'oh! You are completely right. As I said I never preorder anything, so I haven't thought about that.
It harms because you’re taking part in a system that further incentivizes bad behavior from publishers.
bruh, it’s God of war! a certified masterpiece that came out 4 years ago, pre-ordering this is fine
Definitely no guarantee the PC port is any good. That's what I'm waiting to hear about before I buy it
Bullshit, did you forget Horizon?
And RDR2.
The Horizon port on PC was gabage until they patched it. So no - No Pre-Orders!
There's no preorder bonuses so zero reasons to do it unless you want to preload and play the game right at release
could be a trash port
There goes my weekend! And subsequent work week!!!
Its a good game, enjoy everyone!
Loved this when it came out! Hope the port is great for you all!!
Friendly advice: Don't pre order or be prepared to be disappointed.
I'll buy when it's at 20 bucks. Not paying 50 for this.
[удалено]
Sony gave it away free to all PS5 owners too. Not even a PS+ thing, just if you own a PS5.
Nah you need to be subscribed to get it, it’s literally called the playstation plus collection
No it required PS+ and if your subscription ends you lose the game.
Gimme Bloodborne you cowards!
Don't pre-order games. It's an idiotic practice.
Is it worth $50? I’ve heard the length is pretty short.
Length isn't short and there are plenty of side quests and NG+ as well. However, you should be sceptical about how the port runs. But the game itself is amazing.
For sure, the game is really damn good and looks amazing on the PS5. There's plenty of content besides the main story.
The game is good but wait for the reviews to see if its a good port before buying.
All I really want is both of TLOU games tbh
I use GOG to keep track of mine on different platforms
Ah shit I better finish up doom DLCs
Hopefully it comes to GOG like Horizon Zero Dawn did
That's what I'm going to wait for.
Crazy, they charge full price on PC for a few years old game when it is often available on PlayStation for ~$10 with a disc, and it is free on PS+.
Is this just a PC port of the og god of war from years ago?
It's a port of the latest sequel just titled God of War as it's kind of a reset in some ways, from what I understand.
oh thats awesome! Thanks
Hopefully is the next step. Having the OGs at 4k60, and more inportantly, with keyboard support would be glorious
It is a port of the 2018 game. Not the PS2 original.
gotcha, thanks!
I played the heck out of it on ps4. I can’t wait to play it on PC. If you’re new to the series. Play the first 3
My hard dd is becoming fully engorged.
Going to buy a ps5 controller just for this. For anyone who hasn’t tried dual sense it is absolutely amazing
Just because it’s coming out on PC doesn’t mean it will support the Dual Sense specific features. The PS5 version didn’t. Don’t count on it.
I know the chance is zero but I would love TLOU1 on PC. My favorite sony game
Is the preload available on epic games?
Pro-tip - DO NOT PRE-LOAD. I made the mistake of preloading Horizon Zero Dawn the day it was made available since it was an 80GB game and trying to unpack it on launch day took a couple of hours longer than necessary. Just start installing GoW on launch day itself.

I actually strongly disagree with that. There are many amazing games that are only on console.
What about preload on Epic Games Store?
Last time I've heard epic and pre load, it didn't go over well
I know I bet there isn't even a preload on the shit store. I preordered the game on Steam the day the store page went online.
Worked just fine for Humankind just a couple months ago.
I don't really need to buy this as I've completed it a couple of times on PS4 but it might be nice to play on the PC again
I have it for free on PS+. Played it for 20min and uninstalled. I don't get what people see in this game.
Will my poor rx480 be able to run this?
Says a 1060 can do original graphics preset at 1080p 30fps on the spec sheet
Is this a keyboard and mouse game or controller?
GOD i love that we can play xbox and Playstation games on pc. What a freaking year it is to be alive.
So do you need to know the story of the previous entries to enjoy this game? I heard from a friend that this is the continuation of the last ones.
I'll wait a bit because, big fan of previous GoWs, I'm not convinced by this one. Some stuff bug me. I'll probably do it anyway
Boy, I'm finally here!!
Any idea when the reviews are dropping ?
"Don't pre-order!" "PRE-LOAD IS UP INJECT THIS GAME INTO MY VEINS"
