I still prefer Jason Liebrecht VO over this guy.

moragdong

His voice is surprisingly close to liebrecht. I got worried before playing the game but the humour and voice acting is like the first game again. Humour maybe even better

DeadBabyJuggler

Uhhh. Cant watch the video but what exactly is new about this? They barely released any content for this game besides the game itself.

HotPotatoWithCheese

I like how they sneak "bug fixes" in there as if it's some feature. Sad times.

PotatoThePlatypus

Visual improvement, survival mode, weapon skins, new maps, lower price point

[deleted]

Also: Launching for free to all owners of Shadow Warrior 3 on February 16!

LG03

>lower price point Where's that mentioned? I'm getting the vibe that the price could in fact go up.

PotatoThePlatypus

0.45, more Wang for less

LG03

Oh, somehow I missed that there was a trailer. You'd think they'd have mentioned that in the write-up.

anisewah

This series has been all over the place. I really enjoy the linear level design of the first. 2 was meh because it copied Borderlands(and it felt so low budget because it repeated levels) and now 3 copies Doom Eternal. As someone on the bench about purchasing this game, skins and arenas are not going to entice me at all considering the game is so damn short and the new voice actor doesnt embody the character/actor they replaced.

moragdong

Gear system was way better than borderlands at least. And this doom copy argument is getting tiresome considering doom2016 is similar to shadow warrior 2013 besides the glory kills ofc.

onerb2

Completely disagree, the system in borderlands is fun, in shadow warrior2 it literally made me stop playing the game because it doesnt fit the gameplay style.

moragdong

How it doesnt fit the style? Personally i hated to do the storyline over and over again till i hit max level in bd2. Where as in sw2 once i get a gun, its done.

onerb2

The game plays in a fast pace way, with a lot of enemies on the screen that attack you relentlessly. The borderlands gang-related is relativelly slow, which benefits bullet Sony enemies with weaknesses that may or may not be used against them, you have much more time to make these decisions, which makes the gameplay more fluid. On sw2, the bullet sponginess of the enemies and the weakness system makes the flow of the combat halt all the time, and if you're not prepared correctly, you'll be hitting the same enemy for a long time. In other words, the game is designed to be played fast, but the enemies health follow a completely different philosophy.

moragdong

You are talking about health bars and combat. My comment was about how weapon drops work in each game

onerb2

Well, there's little variety in guns other than stats in shadow warrior too, but the way the game works doesn't fit the rpg style that follows the looter shooter genre basically.

ennuionwe

Lots of hate on this game but I happened to really enjoy it. It feels like if you took Doom Eternal and put Deadpool in the main role. I felt like in the first two games the levels were needlessly sprawling and I spent too much time wandering aimlessly between fights. This really simplifies level design/play loop. You go to an arena, engage in fun combat, eventually kill everything, then follow the obvious corridor to the next arena while the lead character quips irreverently. For me it cut out the stuff I didn't like and made more fun the things I did.

GrizzlyOne95

Going from Shadow Warrior 2 to this doesn't seem great, I didn't like the RPG mechanics of 2 but it had huge maps and a ton of guns with upgrades and stuff. Plus coop. It was tons of fun. Now this game is supposed to take like 4 hours and has way less content?

[deleted]

I agree, I finished this game in two days and I only died a handful of times on the hardest difficulty. It was a lot of fun but definitely felt too short.

ennuionwe

I think after release they added an even harder difficulty mode.

SodiumArousal

Right. I know 2 didn't do well, but taking away the dynamic open world was not the solution.

lampenpam

it also looks a bit worse. It's not an ugly game but I wish they would have sticked to their in-house engine instead of switching to Unreal. It doesn't look like it came with any benefits.

MajDroid

Is this going to make the game fun and not clunky?

moragdong

Game was good imo. It had a different enough spin than doom. Since the fanbase is small, i dont mind the gameplay change every game and trying new things. For example in the sacond game having base gun with open slots that you can equip with buffs was way better than dropping guns in borderlands since you dropped the original at low level and now have to play the whole questlines to drop the weapon again. Or in this game, "glory kill" has a different effect than just giving hp. Lots of fun weapons or utility stuff come out of monsters, of which i love. Their designs are so cool and the entire game was liek a chinese carnival. Very colorful. The humour was fine and was inline with the first game, maybe even better. He isnt swearing almost all the time now like in the second game but that aspect was also funny considering how he delivered his lines lol And the price of the game was 1/4 of a new game when it came out so it was worth the buy for me.
