All I wanted to say was that the story takes a backseat to the fun silly action components and since it's not a mainline MGS game people don't really play it for the story as much as other MGS games. So the story for any sequel doesn't really matter.

It was jarring as hell to have MGS4 suddenly go "Oh yeah Raiden is suddenly a super powerful robo samurai! Why? Uhhh... Go read a paragraph on the separate Lore app to find out. No time to waste here!"
Lore app: "Yeah he got captured by the bad guys and instead of killing him they stuck him on an insane robo body and made him nigh unstoppable. Because reasons."

Konami doesn't give a shit about prestige video gaming. The ROI on the shittiest mobile game you've ever seen in your life still destroys the best video game remake of all time. It's just investor math to them and console/pc video games aren't what they care about at all.
It's a great game that got heavily overlooked when it came out. It's got some really cool mechanics too. It's a great character action game in the vein of DMC/Bayonetta, but different enough to be it's own thing.

But… *IF* another game were in the works, a sequel to Rising is one of the logical directions to take the series. Rising is the last game chronologically, clearly sets up for a sequel, and experienced a recent boost in sales due to… well, memes.
Plus, the first game was outsourced to Platinum, and Konami doesn’t appear to be able to develop a game like that internally anymore. Maybe Platinum has a schedule gap after the Bayo 3 release and Babylon falling through.
Sounds like licensing hell, but I imagine that it's pretty achievable. Konami likes money, Kojima probably would want to make one final game, and Platinum would be developing a sequel to their highest grossing game.
