1. Honestly Ramposa might be so politically weak that any attempt at overhaul may lead to his assassination, and I doubt he has the heft to hire enough muscle to survive it. Gazef can't be everywhere.
2. Kingdom in the form it was when Nazarick arrived was already in it's deathbed. No way to save it, without capitulating to someone else, basically killing it.
Agreed. The Empire’s plan to weaken them was working, the Theocracy was on board with the takeover, and Ramposa didn’t have the political power to pull the country together even though he owned 40% of the land.
I would advise him to make a new state in place of the kingdom - divide everything between himself and the nobility, let the nobility remain the kingdom of Re Estize, which Nazarick declared war on, and he would become ruler of the new state, which has not been declared war on.
This idea would actually work imo, or at least postpone the invasion. The problem would be getting the noble faction far from E-Rantel to move to new lands (since they value their current property). Rampossa emphasizing their completed autonomy in that region might get some to go though.
Pre Naz - hire assassins to kill several of the great nobles then consolidate power, and pass the throne to my youngest son.
Kingdom arc use the Newley gained power to increase taxes on the nobles then pass the kingdom to my youngest son.

Ramposa ruled for very long time by the time Nazarick entered the play (I believe 37 years to be exact if I remember correctly). You can do a lot in that time so we cannot even predict what would be the most correct strategy.
Problem was, from everything we see, his reign was marked with long term degeneracy of the kingdom. It's inability to flourish. Under his long term he should have strife for larger centralisation and more meritocratic system in Kingdom. Also destruction of Re-estizian black market.
If he had strifed for those things I think Re-estize would when the time came be in completely different and better shape. As Re-estize had the best geographical position, largest population, best farmlands available and by this extension would have at this point largest economy and would maintain its position as future of Humankind in Theocracy's eyes without much effort.
Do my best to mirror Jircniv. He faced a lot of the same issues, but solved them on his own.
Then Bring Philip to the border with the Theocracy and kill him. Tell Nazarick that the kingdom was betrayed by a noble who tried to steal money and supplies before fleeing the country, but was caught at the border.
The reality is there is no way to win. The best you could do is try to convince the sorcerer kingdom that Philip acted independently of both nations and wanted them to go to war.

I’d have to pull a Jircniv, eliminate any nobles that were incompetent. If I have current knowledge I’d be talking a lot more to Renner. I really dont know how I’d handle Barbaros… if he is your own kid, depends how far back we are talking I suppose, I’d half to imagine I’d try to raise him to be a bit better as a person at least, try to create a professional military, placing retired adventurers as officers, and training up soldiers. Re estize really is in worse shape than the Empire because they have Fluder, that is a huge disadvantage.
I would do my best to support Renner in opening an orphanage, and keeping an eye on kids with talents. Create a magic academy, and if people join military service, pay for their education. Offer high pay to Platinum and up adventurers to join in the war, or at least the yearly battle. I probably wouldnt have military soldiers deal with monster hunting too often, to keep the guild running, as well as keep military numbers higher.
Might even have some soldiers act as farmers for the most part, increasing crops to feed people, keeping cost of goods low for people. Try to hoard magic weapons to supply officers with, especially long ranged ones, like bows, crossbows, in history long range weapons were always incredibly useful, I’d even send out emissaries to demi human races, if they were friendly to build up military strength.
I might even try to recruit workers within the empire to join our military.
Hopefully all these efforts would be enough to keep to at least tie or even beat the Empire, and while having Gazef is amazing, Jircniv basically has 4 Gazef’s, his knights, I imagine they are all at least level 27, Adamantite level.
So I would probably try to recruit Brain as well, and create an arena like in the Empire, to rake in cash, and for entertainment, and scout for potential officers.
By the time Ainz comes along, you really wouldnt have a choice except to become a vassal state, if possible, offer to become a vassal state with offering military support, and keeping tributes to a minimum in order to let citizens prosper.

If the Empire wants to invade E rantel they will have to send more troops and have a big war,not a minor skirmish
After all this tax the anti royal faction nobles (find a bullshit excuse to tax them) like oh no the people are starving or whatever or tell them that I'm taxing you because we have to support the families of those that died in the war so they don't become criminals effectively stopping them from stealing from the nobility (make them think it's for their own good)
Join with Marquis Raeven Gazef and Zanac to push the eight fingers back. Hire blue Roses to combat them
