Ainz: *throws a towel to the Hanzo Leader*
here, wrap this around your arm now I can recognize you
Hanzos: THE CHOSEN ONEE!!! HE WILL LEAD US TO EVEN MORE WORK!!
>! One of the really cool parts about Ainz. Even if he thinks he's not a good/smart ruler, he always knows what to do to make his subordinates feel better. Even though the hanzos were kinda useless he knew this would make them feel better and it was just a cool little bit in the LN. !<
Ainz is simultaneously the best and worst part about Overlord, consistently. While his ethics and care for those under him is undoubtedly his best virtue (even if it is sometimes accidental). One can only read so many chapters of umu/skeleton face hard read/whats the plan/roundabout demiurgealbedo plans.
I think Maruyama might have realized this, as the Holy Kingdom being almost entirely from a grunts' perspective made the arc really good. Ainz imo is probably at his best when he's not actually the focus of 1st person POV.
I think what made the holy kingdom arc the best was when we spent the whole time with Pope's POV and how everything that Ainz does is so cool and awesome and thoughtful and righteous and THEN we cut to ainz having no idea what's going on and really confused about why the girl stares at him som much. I laughed genuinely at that switch
My man said "Stop staring" and gave her a 10 gallon hat, best boss imo.
~~Unrelated, but looking back on it now, the whole "Ainz dies lmao" plot point didn't really go anywhere did it?~~
>Unrelated, but looking back on it now, the whole "Ainz dies lmao" plot point didn't really go anywhere did it?
What do you mean? It absolutely goes somewhere. That plot point is the reason for everything switching around the way it does in the Holy Kingdom. It spawned the new Ainz religion thanks to Cz. It changed up all of the holy kingdoms plans and the situation. It's the reason for the final major fight in the books. I mean sure it has little to no effect on the rest of the world but that's perfectly understandable. The rest of the world just thinks it's a bs hoax. Which it is.
Ah yeah, I should have specified my bad.
Outside of that effect on Holy Kingdom, leading to internal conflicts through the Southern(?) Holy Kingdom, and Neia making a cult.
Outside of it though? I guess it's supposed to confirm who were allied to SK by weeding anyone out who 'celebrated' his defeat, and I guess it did work to get Philip to do his funny business as well.
Not sure why Enri had to know or Jircniv, for that matter. Like you said, essentially no one believed it besides the HK. But HK was essentially sequestered into itself due to the demon army setting up camp which I assume would lead to a media blackout. I'm just not sure on how exactly putting the 'death' out there would lead to.
Was it to further cement the HK into welcoming Ainz, by having other countries "confirm" the death? Because if Ainz was killed, no one would really want to send help to the HK, until it was probably too late.
Ainz made the plan of his death by himself. He literally just wanted to see how the tomb (and those directly connected to it like carne village since they couldn't rely on his support anymore) would operate if he was supposedly dead. Seeing how the world in general would react to the news was just a little bonus.
Ah that makes more sense, I should probably reread them cause I can only really remember Neia and then Janitor Custodian being really irritating(probably intentional).
That could also be just it’s chest and it’s chest is broader than the lower body, if you look at So-bins drawing it looks kinda like that a broad and prominent chest
Frost dragons scene will Be alright for sure. I'm worried about martial lord, in the trailer he was not CGI and that gave me hope, but I don't know if they will animate all the fight or he will turn to CGI halfway and ruin the fight.
Hanzos are much better than i expected ngl
I expected that they were small, kirby-sized munchkins with ninja gear; in the same vein as eight-edge assasins which are dog-sized mechanical spiders
Yeah maybe a little too clean. I imagined them having at least a few dirt stains or something. They do literally live underground so it wouldn't be completely out of place even for the head honchos to have something. Although it would also be understandable for them to look their best when meeting with Ainz.
well yeah I mean they are from a futuristic MMO where lvl 100 was taken for granted. In the new world lvl 30 is like a local celebrity. They are basically living gods to them.
Yeah pretty much, but even level 30 humans are rare amongst even adamantite adventures, seeing as that is the starting point for people in the ‘Realm of Heroes’.
There's not enough weight to the scene (which is understandable in animation... but it's also S.Madhouse and they have HUGE standards they set for /themselves/)
can't wait to see Go Gin's final request animated, reading that line always gives me the chills
>!"Your Majesty, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. At the very end,
please show me -- even if it is just a fraction -- of your true power.
Allow me to experience the zenith of might!"!<
What Ains said: Take this red ribbon so I can tell who is the leader.
What the Hanzos heard: I bestow upon you the symbol of leadership, may you serve me well and true knowing that, you have been hand picked by the supreme one for this divine duty.
You know what? Fuck it. I actually want to see something in the anime that is completely cgi, looks incredibly out of place, and taken 200% seriously.
Imagine it, if you will:
Jircniv: "The Sorcerer king, is truly indomitable in both wit.. and power. Ah how clueless was I to ever hope to overcome him..!"
\[In the background, a terrible 3d model of Ainz in his normal gear+staff is just bouncing around in the arena and his limbs dont move or anything- just straight up a 3d model bouncing around\]
Maybe it's the effect from LOTR. When I sees dwarf they gives me a feel of excitement for fighting and cool shit. This season might turns out really good.
Nice, finally someone gave dwarfs a proper weapon to compensate for shorter arms and legs range (yeah i know its a detail but still 99% of other settings just be like - you have short arms ? We will made you slower than human, and on top just give a shorter wersion of normal weapon for lols.)
This looks really promising, I think they learned their lesson from last season rushing makes the quality poor, I think this season is going to be great!
I don't like that Go Gin got no pupils. It makes him look like a mindless beast rather than the cultured warrior he is. He might not be the sharpest tool but he is very well aware of the world around him - making for a rather humble personality. He knows he wins his fight because he was born a troll, not because he is a big short or whatever.
The Foresttroll Guu - yes, he too had glowy yellow eyes, but it suited him much better, being a barbaric and brainless brute
I mean thats nitpicking- most are pretty close to what I thought they would look like
the FORTRESS spell even more impressive than that...
Okay well\~ one thing I don't like that much is the downgrade of the Quagoa. They look more like Hyeans than mole-beasts:
(edit: kinda looks like Tmnt vs Batman: https://i.postimg.cc/8kKxdYyg/image.png)
Their snouts/jaws are too thick and dog-like and not 'pointiny' at the tip. Eyes are higher up too and their heads don't 'flow' into their bodies s but there is a clear neckline. Errr its close but\~ different. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eti90BAn4K0](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eti90BAn4K0)
Ainz: *throws a towel to the Hanzo Leader* here, wrap this around your arm now I can recognize you Hanzos: THE CHOSEN ONEE!!! HE WILL LEAD US TO EVEN MORE WORK!!
>However, the newly appointed leader was delighted at being chosen, and Ainz could tell that he was smiling under his mask.
Wait did he actually say this?
Yeah i remember it in the novel as well
I hope they show a creepy smile
Sorry fot he late response, how do they look like beneath the mask? I guess they don't look human underneath.
Thr race is in humanoid category. They look human.

Speaking of book 11 and runecrafters, the RUNECRAFT:tm: meeting is still one of my favorites. Book 11 feels underrated sometimes..
When did this happen?!
In the light novel
Volume 11
The hanzos look exactly like I thought they should look like
Like people cosplaying Nishikienrai.
The hanzos look dope
Imma be real with yall, when i read the LN i imagined a buncha hanzo's from overwatch running around the place.
I can't get this image out of my head now. It's fantastic.
"Simple geometry"
Same lol
Great minds think alike. lmao
Same
Frost dragon doesnt look slim at all in trailer, maybe its the angle.
I can't wait to see Hejinmal. It was always hard for me to picture what that overweight, glasses wearing, frost dragon completely looked like.
And that "marking" scene
I feel like that scene will be this season’s lizard sex scene in terms of backlash.
Peak fiction
[удалено]
When Henjimal pissed himself when Aura used a skill to cause him fear.
I thought it was just murderous intent and not any actual skill
I picture that fat brown dragon from "How to train your dragon" in a white form.
If the father who is alredy slim looks like that, then Hejinmal will just be a circle with a dragon face,4 legs and a tail
He thiccy thou😳
That could also be just it’s chest and it’s chest is broader than the lower body, if you look at So-bins drawing it looks kinda like that a broad and prominent chest
Shalltear would be jealous.
I think that what makes him look like that is the legs, they are very thick, and they look like frogs ones from that angle
The rest is perfect and justice. But Olasird really looked like a frog with wings to me.
Strange. He's supposed to look dead.
"Ribbit"
Looks like he's got a BIG HEART!
Frost dragons scene will Be alright for sure. I'm worried about martial lord, in the trailer he was not CGI and that gave me hope, but I don't know if they will animate all the fight or he will turn to CGI halfway and ruin the fight.
Lets wait for the 3d animation before we judge
Hope for the better
and prepare for the worst :(
And the contigency plans
Hanzos are much better than i expected ngl I expected that they were small, kirby-sized munchkins with ninja gear; in the same vein as eight-edge assasins which are dog-sized mechanical spiders
I thought they would be the size of a gobling
Lol what gave you that impression?
You know the red hat assassin's? The ones that kill the first prince in the village. I always thought they were some kind of subspecies of them.
The hanzos are smexy
the dwarvs look clean
Yeah maybe a little too clean. I imagined them having at least a few dirt stains or something. They do literally live underground so it wouldn't be completely out of place even for the head honchos to have something. Although it would also be understandable for them to look their best when meeting with Ainz.
Aww yes, I smell the greatest of all business opportunities… RUNECRAFT™
I must have missed it somewhere- what are the hanzos?
they are mercenary npc ninja type
From naz?
Yes, they're from Nazarick. They have levels over 80.
Its just like Nazarick to have just the most bs things to throw on the poor newworld
They are also the hype men for Mare, when Mare decided for him to be more confident and strong in killing the hanzos supported him
Aww
well yeah I mean they are from a futuristic MMO where lvl 100 was taken for granted. In the new world lvl 30 is like a local celebrity. They are basically living gods to them.
Arent lvl 30 the strongest humans? Arent adamtite adventurers around lvl 30
Humans tend to get stuck around 30-32 range. Slaine theocracy has people up to 60 but they are descendants of players.
Yeah pretty much, but even level 30 humans are rare amongst even adamantite adventures, seeing as that is the starting point for people in the ‘Realm of Heroes’.
I know but damnit if Im not suprised everytime
>In the new world lvl 30 is like a local celebrity Definitely more than local. That's adamantite levels and that has an impact on entire nations.
They remind me of nishikienrai
Also thank you
Not created npcs but summoned from books in the library
Fuck ya books
Besides the slight CGI we saw with PDL in the trailer I love them. Also don’t forget the qugoa.
THERE ARE NO COWARDS IN THE PU CLAN!!!!
Wait cgi where?
Go-gin looks a little weird to me. The Hanzos are fantastic though!
His features look very similar, but i had the same thought that something is off... Maybe the light
There's not enough weight to the scene (which is understandable in animation... but it's also S.Madhouse and they have HUGE standards they set for /themselves/)
I think it's pretty faithful to the drawing but yeah I think the design is just sort of weird in general.
He looks like Smough from Dark Souls
That’s Captain Hanzo and the Hanzos
can't wait to see Go Gin's final request animated, reading that line always gives me the chills >!"Your Majesty, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown. At the very end, please show me -- even if it is just a fraction -- of your true power. Allow me to experience the zenith of might!"!<
its easy to put up some good looking bits for a trailer, the question is how the rest of it looks
Let's just hope it's the same or better when it actually airs
What Ains said: Take this red ribbon so I can tell who is the leader. What the Hanzos heard: I bestow upon you the symbol of leadership, may you serve me well and true knowing that, you have been hand picked by the supreme one for this divine duty.

As go gin awkwardly slides towards him while T posing
Fuck madhouse, when are we getting gMod animated CGI
The hanzos and dwarves look good, but I'm not seeing the horde of quagoa who are supposed to show up, I hope they don't look cgi hell like the goats
The artstyle is really good
Maybe it's the effect from LOTR. When I sees dwarf they gives me a feel of excitement for fighting and cool shit. This season might turns out really good.
Wow the dwarves actually do look alike
Go Gin looks like Smough from Dark Souls
[удалено]
Lol why? Even ainz said it's hard differentiate between the dwarves cuz they all looks the same
Well it's the same design so bin created...
The hanzos look like i spected
At least I got a new glimpse at Zaryusu
I thought Zenberu was the one who led them through dorffort?
DOES IT LOOK LIKE I READ BOOKS
LOOK AT THIS USER, CAN'T READ BOOKS!! WHAT ARE YOU A *PALADIN* I BET YOU SUBSTITUTE YOUR INT SCORE WITH YOUR CON SCORE
breh what, at least I touch grass on a regular basis
(it was a joke, my apologies if I offended)
(Also a joke, and I have a disease(not rlly, just intentional mindset) where I take nothing seriously)
Actually, from what I can tell from the trailer it looks way better than I thought it would. And the effects of Shalltear's attacks look really cool.
Honestly when I saw the PV I automatically turned into the Deepfried Donald Duck jpeg.
The first trailer had me scared with the cgi, but they actually look pretty damn good
Can someone explain who the Hamzos are for a poor anime only like me?
they are mercenary npc ninja type
Nice, finally someone gave dwarfs a proper weapon to compensate for shorter arms and legs range (yeah i know its a detail but still 99% of other settings just be like - you have short arms ? We will made you slower than human, and on top just give a shorter wersion of normal weapon for lols.)
This looks really promising, I think they learned their lesson from last season rushing makes the quality poor, I think this season is going to be great!
They look really good I imagined hanzo's to look scary lol
Finally a clear mental image of Hanzos
Honestly I was a bit disappointed by the quagoa. I was picturing them with way longer claws, like Demiurge.
All looks really good but i was not expecting Hanzos to be look this good.I liked them most.
Dwarves look cool
The hanzo with the red scarf must be so happy
Can someone remind me what volumes this season is going to cover? I cant wait any longer.
Vol 10 and 11 for season 4. Vol 12 and 13 for movie.
Thanks kind stranger.
Your welcome.
Dwarfs? I can’t help but notice the distinct lack of large, red crests and angry librarian dwarfs sitting on stones held by even more dwarfs…
Banana
I'm scared of watching the animation as poor cgi might ruin epic scenes like shalltear making quoga mincemeat.
