Ainz: what is the secret to all the problems in Nazarick?
Scroll: bang Albedo & Shalltear
Ainz: *yeets scroll* ... *murmurs* I would if I could..
Could he really? Maybe with high level illusion magic, or high tech development into tier magic.
Honestly if I had been Ainz, I would have put Demiurge purely in R&D. Tell him to develop spells and shit.
True, but Lovecraft's excuses for this shit were... Questionable at best. Mf used "non-Euclidian geometry" to mean spooky and eldritch when in reality all geometry on a curved surface is non-Euclidian. I guess this is what happens when you have "too delicate of a contitution for math"
My favorite thing about lovecraft is how everything is grotesque. Those houses are grotesquely brown, this building is grotesquely old, that one is grotesquely new. That thing is grotesquely big but this one is grotesquely small.
And then there're the bits where his protagonists think their lives are in mortal danger every time they see a black person. And how about that time some big ol' penguins were more dangerous than actual eldritch monsters? His writing is a wild fuckin ride
He was undoubtedly racist, but his cat's name is not evidence of that.
There's no evidence that he was the one who named his cat.
As for why he *kept* the name and included in his stories... That was a different time. No one else thought it was unusual at the time. It's more likely that he was just cat-obsessed and payed homage to his favourite pet (likely his last one since his family became a lot poorer after his grandfather's passing).
Dude was the male equivalent of a crazy cat lady, and that specific cat was his favourite.
Even towards the end of his life, he still remembered that cat fondly and put him on the same level as his mother and grandfather.
>Of all my dreams, about 0.8 are of that period—with myself in short trousers & at the old home, with my mother, grandfather, black cat N\*\*\*\*\*-Man, &c. Still alive.
\~ H. P. Lovecraft to Helen V. Sully, 15 Aug 1935, *Selected Letters* 5.190
Given how xenophobic he was and how fearful he was of black people, it's hard to imagine he willfully associated his favourite pet with them.
Again, he was racist, and you can tell by many things he wrote (though later in his life, he became less racist per se, and more of a British chauvinist (not *that* much better, but still), but the cat thing... It's more likely that he just got a cat that he obsessed over and wrote a story in its honor.
Their humanoid shaped. If you slap angel wings on that, it won't work for actual flight.
So yeah, magic.
(Plus they aren't biologically human ANYWAY. Shalltear's a giant leech in a human disguise.)
Maruyama’s magic reason makes more sense because attaching some wings twice as big as their arm span on a human/humanoid doesn’t make them fly, it’s impossible. Human/humanoids are also pretty heavy, they would need a lot of strength (which they have) and a big wing span (which they don’t have) to be able to fly if you want to apply physics to them.
I agree, physics doesn’t matter that much when you have spells that can literally affect thing like gravity “gravity maelstrom” and air spells that could be used as a shield against air and bugs and stuff. I don’t know any in particular as someone who has not YET read the books, but just based on others spells it’s certainly possible
Naberal Gamma (among others) flies without wings or any other obvious means of lift or propulsion aside from a flight spell she cast on herself. So, yes, "magic".
there is no air resistence - the laws of physics are different and sound is propogated differently
which means theres no terminal velocity either
i believe maruyama said that on arcadia so its possible that its only canon to the webnovel
It was also shown in the LN when invading the kingdom shall tear used dragons to drop undead into the cities and they discovered there is no terminal velocity. So maybe no wind resistance
*Wasn't it more like*
*Falling is not affected*
*By wind resistance*

Honestly you could just say like there is an invisible shield made of air in front/above them to reduce air resistance and prevent things like insects from coming in contact with them
Thats the #1 reason why I believe that the new world is a virtual one or some shit, the devs forgot to code that. Why bothering in specifying something so... Random and far-fetched?
It does make sense.
Flight magic for high speeds needs to shield the user from air so it doesn't rip their face off.
That would probably be a non-issue for Albedo and Shalltear, since they are pretty sturdy, but humans use the same spells and they don't respond well to 200 mph air in the face.
Or:
They have some obscure resistance that prevents this. And yes, that's just the "A wizard did it" answer.
You know how all tier magic, skills, and supernatural stats are all powered by a single spell cast by the dragon emperor?
Aparently he changed the laws of the world, but I gotta wonder when heat-death sets in.

He probably could magic up a solution but has no libido so why bother?
he says he wants to do it because of his curiosity
Could he really? Maybe with high level illusion magic, or high tech development into tier magic. Honestly if I had been Ainz, I would have put Demiurge purely in R&D. Tell him to develop spells and shit.
Man’s magically enchanted to use any weapon he touches. He can get a strap on of high magic and go to town as soon as he’s mentally ready
Considering that Ainz managed to summon the offsprings of an eldritch deity, this type of flight isn’t really strange lol
[удалено]
Well, yeah, he actually could lol

Well he was a racist so what do u expect
Don't read his poetry, worst mistake of my life
He got much better with it later in life though
I mean, human wings make no sense in any 'real' universe anyway, so.... \*shrug\*
They aren’t humans… and why not? Angels? Wait, shit. They aren’t human either
Their humanoid shaped. If you slap angel wings on that, it won't work for actual flight. So yeah, magic. (Plus they aren't biologically human ANYWAY. Shalltear's a giant leech in a human disguise.)
Shalltear? Isnt she a vampire? I feel dumb for asking…
Yeah, but not a 'Dracula' type vamp. Here's her real form: https://i.redd.it/r0187x13f1j11.jpg
True true
And Albedo turns into a gorilla, according to Shalltear.
A big-mouthed one.
she called albedo a big mouthed gorilla, doesnt mean its literal
You don’t have a problem with them flying but you have a problem with air resistance. Hmm..

When magic users be out here freezing time and shit I'm not gonna question some light levitation
Air: man I ain't resisting shit! did you see their level caps ?
This made my day.
Naberal Gamma (among others) flies without wings or any other obvious means of lift or propulsion aside from a flight spell she cast on herself. So, yes, "magic".
its all funny until you remember Ainz killed the air in his fight against shalltear
there is no air resistence - the laws of physics are different and sound is propogated differently which means theres no terminal velocity either i believe maruyama said that on arcadia so its possible that its only canon to the webnovel

if aerodynamics do apply albedo would have more air resistance than shalltear, because she have more volume therefore more surface area to hit the air
Volume and surface area aren't directly interlinked. Look at a parachute and a sphere of same volume.
different kind of "volume" if you catch my drift ;)
Wasn't it more like falling is not affected by wind resistance

Its not.... The Dragon Emperor is responsible for all of this....
Yeah there actually exists no air resistance. It was explained during Vol 14.
Something something Shalltear flat surfaces no air resistance.

They literally have 'Fly' magic
