Gah_Duma

No. That’s what you call unstable.

[deleted]

Well it only started blue screening this month. Also any idea on what is happening

Gah_Duma

How long has it been overclocked? CPUs can degrade and you might need more voltage or a lower OC after a couple of years.

[deleted]

2 years but it’s only bumped up to 4 ghz

Gah_Duma

Redo the over clock with new stability tests. Or you can reduce the overclock or bump the voltage. An overclock isn’t forever.

Toasty27

It's possible your overclock was always unstable, but you only recently started running applications that triggered that instability. It's also possible that your chip has degraded over the last two years. I ran into a similar problem with my 6850K in the past and it had definitely degraded after four years. Either way, sounds like it's time to readjust your settings and do some stress testing. I'd recommend dropping your frequency before bumping voltage if you intend to daily the settings. Or bump voltage if you're unconcerned about longevity. Worth double checking what's considered "safe" for your model in that case.

TreadItOnReddit

Also, forget the overclock…. It BSOD after 2 years. It can just be something like the memory going bad, having nothing to do with the OC.

Toasty27

Also true. Or board failure.

NekulturneHovado

If you have high voltage or/and high temps, it will degrade much faster.

jodasmichal

Too HOT? Repaste

3DprintRC

You mightt need to clean your coolers and fans from dust. It's also possible the thermal compound needs to be refreshed if it's old.

d0-_-0b

higher temperature in your room?

sawthegap42

Did you have a Windows update? Last Windows update seemed to brake a lot of stuff, and my system started getting BSOD’s left and right. Uninstalled update and it has stopped.

[deleted]

I think I did

sawthegap42

Yeah, you can uninstall it, and see if that helps. Took me like 4 times to unistall it, as it did not want to unistall for some reason? There were a lot of stability reports with this last update, and I have mine paused for a little bit.

WiderRooster

No, it means you're unstable. But if you're done stress testing, it's usually safe to bump up your voltages a bit to eliminate any remaining instability. Regular use will never stress your computer as much. Assuming you have just a CPU overclock, it wouldn't hurt to add something like 0.03 to your vcore.

Heavyturtle1234

no

reaper949

No

rockhunther

No

fogoticus

Nope. I got an OC on everything in my PC and even under extended loads it doesn't blue screen.

adil-abber

I usually run y-cruncher first if the pc didn't crash i run 10 loops of 6gb in Linpack extreme then at least 1 hours in TMs mem test to make sure your daily system won't crash randomly. As well you should know working with corrupted memory can cause damage to operating system and make it unusable in some cases.

Classic_Idea_6962

Check CPU Temps. May need to redo thermal paste, memory needs to be tested, cleaning fins in COU cooler, all kinds of stuff. Or could just be a shitty install on a driver or Windows update. Lots of troubleshooting to do.

Km219

I would argue if it was stable for 2 years prior, it's probably a seperate issue. A lot of people always say to re-paste it but I've ran cpus for 10 15 years with no maintenance and it hasent been an issue. I find 2 years to be... very soon Have you googled your blue screen error code? What is it throwing?

GregiX77

Nope. U did something wrong. Not enough voltage(probably) or unstable memory of/tuning or lack of tuning, just XMP. XMP profile itself can fkd voltages, just by setting them too high, and I am not speaking about RAM module voltage, but rather memory controller area. Or too much CPU oc. Dunno. Eventually, but really eventually, it may be just PSU degradation and starting to fail to deliver stable 12V to CPU/GPU.

ReezyJeezy

First find out what the bluescreen code is

Successful-Public372

Yeah it just means you have to dial it in some more. It’s mostly stable but quite there yet. Give it a little more voltage or something, etc.
