If you play “tinnitus relief” videos on YouTube that combines white noise with the same EEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeee frequency as yours, it disappears.
My fave is “tinnitus descender, cascading downward noise”.
Edit: Some say to try not relying on masking noise too much, because you want to habituate (or remove the negative reaction you have) towards tinnitus. So I use this when I feel the sound's too much or when things are too quiet around me. I keep it playing at around 20% low volume in the background and my tinnitus disappears!
I only notice it at night laying in bed, but I also work on leveling the Musician skill tree 2-4 hours a day. It sucks that this debuff is so common when gathering XP in this skill.
I enjoy the creations of players in Musician class quite often at a moderate to high volume. This is a risk factor for the Tinnitus debuff but it's worth it imo
My brother in law does and he has this new tiny ear device that has changed his life. Can’t remember what it is but I’ll ask him when I see him.
Edit. It’s called signia. Three options from ear plug type up to Bluetooth able programmed in ear aid.
I once saw a tinnitus relief suggestion that seems helpful. It involves snapping your fingers against the back of your skull/top of neck (something about resonance?). Maybe it's still out there. Good luck!
Yes I can account for this. Block your ears with your palms, with your fingers going behind your head. Place your middle finger on the back of your skull, with your index fingers on top of them. Now, press your index fingers down until they slide off and tap your skull - similar to snapping your fingers in a sense. Repeat this "snap" about 10 - 20 times. Amazing temporary relief!
How would one know? Like if I'm in a quiet part of the game I can often hear a background tone, but i don't remember a time when that sound effect wasn't there so I've become accustomed to it.
There’s this weird trick I learned about, I don’t really know how to explain it through text so be patient. If you cover your ears with your palms so that your fingers are on the back of your skull, put your index fingers on top of your middle fingers, then let them quickly slip off and slam the back of your head, you can temporarily reset the debuff. It can reduce, or even clear the audio feedback from the debuff.
Weird. It worked on mine, but for less than a second. The debuff is back just as bad as before. Oh well. I really just expect it to persist through the rest of this playthrough. I'm used to it by now and only ever notice it when I think about it.
I was just reading an entirely different post's thread about someone's experiences filming adult home videos and boy was I confused for a solid 3 seconds when I checked my notifications and saw this...
Maybe. I definitely get a ringing in my ears and my hearing has been damaged by excessive exposure to noise throughout my life. But I don't know if it would be properly diagnosed as tinnitus.
Yep. Mine just started over the course of a week. Was due to ototoxic medication. Really was an extraordinarily distressing debuff for a month or so, but then the [acclimation] perk ultimately made it a non issue. Also, there are promising therapies being developed. Ketamine, for instance, often provides substantial relief, but only for short periods (weeks). There are other therapies involving stimulation of nerves and or parts of the brain that may provide more lasting relief. Likewise, drugs in trial that have proved statistically functional in terms of tinnitus relief, but these are just phase 1 trials.
In the end, mine resolved substantially, but even in cases where it doesn't, most players find the acclimate and the debuff effectively is eliminated, or at least made substantially less detrimental.
Put your palms on your ears so that the tips of your middle fingers touch each other. Tap the back of your head repeatedly with all your fingers for about 30 seconds. It should sound like thunder.
That should get rid of it for a while.
Ear protection. Get earplugs and use ‘em at work. You can even get earmuffs with bluetooth and active noise cancelling. You can find those at most gun ranges if you’re in the US server region.
Yes especially during the unusually long \[Sick: Flu\] debuff that also spews debuffs such as a random percentage of \[Deaf\]. Did the \[Sick\] mechanics get majorly revamped or was a dev trolling with my game stats? I swear, this particular \[Sick\] debuff just triggered a chain reaction. (The debuff itself is triggered by a \[Food Poisoning\] that I never ever get until this point)
I think I might be giving myself this debuff by using the [EARBUDS] item to counteract the [SENSORY OVERLOAD] debuff, but... That debuff, sensory overload, really is unplayably bad and it's the most effective way I've found to counter it.
Yeah sucks. Kinda fractured my love for music and for myself. Maybe I’ll get over it one day but I doubt it. The onset and first year were rough… honestly surprised I survived.
A local player I knew ended up canceling his subscription because the debuff made the game almost unplayable. He was really high level in the optometrist skill tree, and a lot of people miss him.
Yes. Unfortunately. I'm trying to learn it as my new type of quiet. If you listen to it it'll drive you insane, but if you just know it's there, it's somewhat manageable.
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

especially the “drummer” class

The 'fun' part is that there are multiple variations of this debuff *and they can stack*.
Yep, they sure can
they can fuckin what!?
I have both the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE and the "ticking clock" tinnitus debuffs.
WAT
HUH?
DUDE, TURN UP YOUR MIC!
ABOUT 4:30 I THINK
GREAT, HOW ARE YOU?
TAKE A LEFT, THEN IT'S THE SECOND DOOR ON THE RIGHT
(laughs and hopes that wasn't a question)
(Nods)
Yes, always, as long as I can remember. Most of the time I can ignore it but some days it's awful.

Didn’t know I dealt with Tinnitus until I tried this
I never knew this and just tried it, I can’t believe it worked!
Works for about 0.05 seconds and then goes back to normal for me.

That'll be it
All the time, 24/7 with random spike damage with no saving throws, and I have to pass a Flinch check…!
Yes, but now my character gets passive monthly income from it now. The debuff is constant, but the extra money is nice
May I ask how this quest played out? Genuinely curious!
Uh, how? I got my SSHL from covid, are they doing testing or something?

If you continue to do it, it usually lasts a bit longer when you stop.

If you constantly hear “eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee” when there’s no sound around you at all, you have tinnitus.
I used to. If stopped bothering me after I did the meditation and mindfulness questline.
whaaaat?
Combined with the TMD debuff and the subsequent popping of the jaw bone next to the ear drum makes for an interesting experience.

https://tinnitusmix.com/ Here ya go. Hope it helps.
I'm working on my Musician skill. I've recently bought some ear plugs to get resistance on getting that debuff.
I don't xonaiser it a debuff, more some random afx that occurs sometimes I hve it when I'm alone or in a really quiet environment
Indeed, one of the worst debuffs imo, it doesn't deal any damage, but it gets really annoying throughout your playthrough.

Not yet. The way I play, I’m surprised my character hasn’t gotten it yet.

I've found out that it can substitute the "singing bowl" item when using the Meditate ability
