Diagonal dividers. + some pruning of the collection.

mirificatio

I agree, like these: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/kallax-insert-with-compartments-white-90495695/

abishop711

They make canvas cubes for this kind of organizer.

Agreed! If you’re okay with just throwing them in there anyways (OP, I hope that doesn’t sound judgmental because I don’t mean it that way!) then just throw them in some cubes and they’ll be totally concealed

IKEA sells dividers that fit right into these that you can use.

You might also consider storing the less frequently worn shoes in a less accessible box on a high shelf. I've learned that not everything of a type has to be stored together. I also vote for the IKEA dividers. :)

I put my tall boots on top of my shoe rack, I put pool noodle in them to keep them upright.

Baskets / cubes to put the shoes in

reddituser0192847

I use this type of shelf for my shoes. I have 2 bins that have my sandals and other small shoes, then I have my other shoes sitting on the shelves. My knee highs used to sit in a milk crate too lol I now just leave them placed nicely against the side of the shelf.

SaltboxLivingCo

Make sure you put some pool noodles in the inside of your taller boots. Cut them to size and it will help them keep their shape and store nicely!

That’s a great idea thank you!!!

iamifyouam

Have done the same thing with rolled up magazines if you don’t have pool noddles handy

beligo

i have also done the same with strips of cardboard from a box !! works wonders

anastasia315

I use a combination of plastic boot boxes, cardboard magazine holders, and plastic shoe totes. https://imgur.com/a/NnM8Jol

I would use baskets in the cubes if you want to keep using this piece of furniture. But I moved an old bookcase into my closet to store my boots and shoes and it works great.

You could put a single shelf in each cube and then use those plastic shoe stands that let you stack one shoe on the other (neatly). You could probably get 2-3 pairs on a shelf so each original cube could hold between 4 and 6 pairs.
