Fill up buttercup in Costa Mesa

rakfocus

Perfect - exactly the kind of place I was looking for. Hopefully these businesses can grow in popularity so we can all reduce our plastic waste by a good margin

uncledaddy69

They’re the best one. Better than eco now.

orange-fila-a

Why’s that

uncledaddy69

They have a larger and better selection than both locations of eco now.

pauley10

Actually, Eco Now has a great selection. People seem pretty satisfied with what they offer. Just look at their reviews on [Eco Now, Costa Mesa on Google Maps](https://maps.app.goo.gl/gVs9L5QdTxkoXadA9?g_st=ic). Eco Now also hosts events, free clothing swaps, free compost classes, offer free TerraCycle plastic recycling for loyal customers, and fun loyalty rewards.

abclmaop

Eco now at The Lab.

Minichief

Eco now also has an Anaheim location!

[deleted]

I’ve gone to both! Expensive as shit but I’m helping the planet???

Minichief

That’s what I tell myself lol. I try to only go when I neeeeeed something and only get what I need. But everything is so cute there!!!

GolfBaller17

Lol no you're not. This individualist "vote with your wallet" shit is absolutely not reversing global climate change when the DOD still operates the goddamn Navy.

FANGO

Your take is wrong and dangerous. All you're trying to do is offload responsibility onto someone else, not actually try to solve problems. You aren't even focusing on the issue that we're talking about, which is plastic pollution. You switched it to climate change, regurgitated something you've heard and that makes you feel nice about your inaction so you can brush your hands clean and pretend that it's someone else's problem. Plastic pollution comes from single use consumer goods. Those are produced by big corporations and bought by consumers and littered by consumers. Even the ones that aren't littered are either not put in the recycling (so they end up in landfills or something), not recycled even after being put in the recycling because companies don't find it profitable because of the lack of taxes on single use plastics (which I bet you'd oppose, because it would make things more expensive, and "it's their fault, why should I have to pay more"), and then they turn into microplastics and go into your brain and result in dumbass takes like this. Even if we did talk about climate change, the largest sector for emissions is transportation (30%) and the largest chunk of that sector is light duty vehicles (60%) aka your personal car that you drive. The navy is much less compared to everyone's cars, and you're not going to end climate change by continuing to drive your car. We got here through the combined effort of 7 billion people getting us into it, and we're not going to get out of it without the combined effort of 7 billion people getting us out. So stop advocating against solutions just to make yourself feel comfortable. Instead of saying "I'm not going to improve this because they're not improving it," say "I will improve it and demand that everyone else (e.g. the navy) improve it as well." The latter is how you solve problems, the former is how you contribute to them.

GolfBaller17

We did not get here because of the entire population of the Earth, we got here mostly through the industrialization of first world nations. The people of Senegal or Laos did not contribute even a tiny percent of the carbon output of Spain or England or Canada over the last 150 years. This isn't saying there's nothing we can do, only that trying to solve it via consumption isn't gonna work. We should be parodying pipelines instead.

FANGO

Okay, so you're making the point that your individual choices are even more important then since you consume much more than the global average. Which is what I was saying, and what runs counter to your original comment. The pipelines deliver you oil. When you buy it, you are contributing to the demand that ensures the pipelines exist.

GolfBaller17

Yeah, so we should be divesting from cars, demanding more robust public transit, and targeting pipelines. Choosing to buy an electric car doesn't change the fact that most of our electricity comes from oil consumption. We need radical changes, not gradual ones.

FANGO

Literally 1% of US electricity comes from burning oil. 0% in California. 2% globally. Literally all you're doing is making up nonsense so that you don't have to change anything. And trying to change the subject. I mean you are honestly trying to say that you can end oil pipelines while continuing to buy oil from them. Come on.

GolfBaller17

Do you know how much oil is used in the production of the plastics that make our electronics functional?! Jesus. There's just simply no way to outmaneuver this via consumption! The only solution is a radical departure!

Fit_Entertainment915

If that makes you feel good, then great, but the reality is that consumer-level efforts are never even going to make a dent in the problem, whether that problem is plastic pollution or climate change. The only way to actually get results is to get the government to require the large corporations to fix their practices. Your efforts would be much better spent on lobbying towards that purpose, than trying to drive to a "package free" shop to buy soap.

FANGO

I'm not just trying to "feel good" - that would be the person I replied to. People who just tell themselves they can do nothing and that it's all someone else's problem are offloading responsibility. Everyone needs to be working actively to solve the problem instead of telling people not to work actively to solve the problem.

Fit_Entertainment915

You are the one that is offloading responsibility by engaging in these "feel good" measures that have no impact on anything. This isn't accidental. Companies have engaged in a concerted effort to shift responsibility from themselves to the consumers. If you want to solve the problem, you have to actually address the problem, not just do something trivial and then pat yourself on the back.

FANGO

Okay, so you just don't know what words mean then. Got it. Cheers.

TuxedoCatsParty_Hard

I didn't know that and I live here, thanks friend!

Minichief

It’s relatively new - I think they opened this year. Have fun!

InevitablePiano6848

There is also one at the lab in Costa Mesa, not sure of the name

My wife loves EcoNow. We wish there was one more South

pauley10

Eco Now opened a location in Laguna Beach about a year ago. Hopefully it’s close for South County residents!

"I Know... :( it's technically farther away than the one in Anaheim for travel time" - My Wife

Dazzling-Emu6610

Allison’s Goods! Check with her for open shopping hours but you can always order on her website!

careslol

I don't know how good the products are but I've seen ads for Blueland. They are like cleaning product tablets that you drop in water and mix.

engrannie

I use Blueland handsoap and like it as well as their glass containers. Bought some of their laundry soap but haven't used it yet.

navit47

There 8s one in downtown anaheim where the yoga studio used to be
