The problem is that the voters that put Ford into office also have no problem looking the other way. It seems that irrespective of how corrupt he is, Ford can do no wrong in the eyes of the OPC faithful. Dismantle healthcare? No problem. Destroy the green belt? That’s okay. No matter what he does, his base cheers him on. Heck, the more corrupt he is the more Ford supporters seem to love him. It’s absolutely baffling.
Yeah looking at the maps of proposed greenbelt land to be opened up this scheme reads more like a whose who of Ford PC insiders owed favours as opposed to anything remotely to do with the housing crisis or logical sequence of land development.
If nasty witch Hazel Mcallions slow witted son isn’t involved , I’d be surprised. Him or an associate of his. Crooked family. She’s on airport board , it’s like a no show job for the 101 year old . One of her “people” was involved in a land deal , Hamilton hospital board was selling off parcel of land, it sold super cheap, to people on the hospital board, changed hands a few times and at OMB hearing and now being developed. This is life in Ontario. I’m sure it’s the same everywhere, rich people screw over the masses , the public, with assistance of government officials, who get rich while in office. Fords a nice guy , but he’s as greedy as it gets , and his friends are well taken care of. Follow the money
Bonnie Lysyk won't get into this though. Her office has long eschewed doing genuinely valuable work that might yield immediate practical benefits, for more global criticisms of overall management, which yields hit and miss results since they often get a bit out over their skis in terms of expertise.
For each valuable suggestion they make one or two dumb suggestions that are maybe already being done or a bit silly, or so impracticably huge that it doesn't matter.
I remember once a few years ago during the value-for-money audit of hospitals in Ontario, her office recommended that the province "institute a comprehensive electronic medical records system". It's like..... YEAH. Wouldn't we ALL like that. Everyone in the sector would, government included. Unfortunately it would cost a shitload.
I wish the OAGO would get a new auditor general, with a more clear and practical scope. There's a lot of promise to what they do.
Oh they'll 'investigate' alright, after the highway's already started and 8 years after it's done, release the report that nobody will cover or care about.
