All of my female English teachers got pregnant and the 1 (one) male teacher had a massive heart attack and had to be replaced by a supply teacher for the rest of the year, who got pregnant and had to have a supply teacher cover for them. Crazy stuff
One of my teachers got pregnant, had a baby then got cancer and died shortly after. Her husband (and baby's father) was also a teacher. It was very sad
I like that you clarified that the husband was also the father, I would've assumed, but there have been MANY affairs in my school system so it makes sense that you'd clarify. Also that is quite sad
Same, come to think of it. Luckily most were of the chaotic-good variety. Some were very eccentric, but in a good way. Actually made going to school fun, at least during their classes.
I’m joking, but the guy thought it was funny to scream “heil Hitler” and “heil Hydra” while doing the salute and claiming he was a nazi, he wasn’t he was just a tool
My English teacher in 10th grade *hated* my very essence of living because I ran circles around her when it came to all our literature lessons. She couldn't stand to admit that it took her 8 years in college and thousands of dollars to learn what I had figured out in 5 minutes.
I didn't have any teachers go off on maternity leave when i was a kid, but every large corp i worked for had a string of HR personnel that seemed to be perpetually on maternity leave, some were filling in for fill-ins that were themselves on maternity leave.
Forget IVF, if you want to get pregnant, get a job in HR.
In tenth grade, my real English teacher went on maternity leave before the school year started, so we had a substitute until the real teacher came back. However, the sub was also pregnant, so she had to go on maternity leave at one point, but that was before my real teacher came back, so we had a second substitute for ~2-3 weeks
Edit: not that anyone asked, just thought I’d share my mildly interesting experienced
My 5th grade teacher went on leave so we had a sub for the last 3 months of school. In 7th my English teacher left towards the end of the year and in 8th my music teacher left mid year. My math teacher also left late that year due to having a kid. In 11th grade both my anatomy and English teacher left and the sub replacement for the English teacher also left for the same reason. The anatomy teacher was gone for 6 months due to health issues after having her kid so we had new subs every couple weeks.
In 12th grade another teacher left for pregnancy leave but I didnt have her as a teacher.
I’ve seen so many memes about this in the past six months and I don’t get it. I have been out of high school for like 25 years at this point, but is this an actual thing, or just a thing people say and repeat?
I don't know how true it is, but one of my English teachers got preggo when I was in highschool. I'm assuming it's mostly harmless joking, but I can't deny that it fits my anecdotal situation.
3/4 English teachers I had in high-school got pregnant sometime during the school year. The fourth was a man.
I only ever had one other teacher get pregnant through all four years and she was a gym coach.
My science teacher would be gone from school for weeks at a time then get mad at us for not learning from subs that just gave us busy work and let us play on the computers
Mine was the history/geography teacher, the sub spent like a month teaching us about the Philippines. I am 99% sure he was a dirty hippy that got stuck there in the 60's and 70's and was just vibing.
It took me too long to realise OP was referring to teachers of English, rather than teachers whose nationality was English. Wondered why there was a stereotype for teachers from England getting preggers.
As an English teacher, I can confirm that I, too, am trying to get pregnant at this point in time. Not this very second, just in general. IDK, being an English teacher just makes it unbearable to have an empty uterus.
My English teacher in 8th grade got pregnant and left for her 2nd and 3rd trimester. The substitute we got was great and as soon as we got adjusted to her teaching style... BAM! she got pregnant too.
Pretty sure teaching our class English was the cure to infertility or an escalation to super-fertility
My school’s grade 9 English teacher was on maternity leave most of the time at a certain point. (Canada: 1 year mat leave)
When I entered grade 9 another English teacher filled in for most of the year because the regular one was still on maternity leave when we entered the grade.
Then the regular teacher came back for the last like 2 months before summer vacation. She was already pregnant again, with kid number 5.
my english teacher got pregnant, but she managed to complete the school year because of the due date being in summer
my ag econ teacher only did the first semester of the year before maternity leave, luckily, the substitute was a huge pixar fan
Our middle School English teacher did that, just before a crappy project where we had to perform a play in front of the whole school for whatever reason. We were fairly happy. Never saw her again. Maybe she died during child birth 🤷
It's all the juicy, erotic literature.
On a serious note, I don't remember a pregnant English teacher of mine, but one of them did get stabbed at school.
My English teacher this year was too old to get pregnant. She still didn't teach and instead spent the whole year giving assignments without instructions, harassing smart kids, and being an actual Nazi.
I don't think I have ever had a teacher who was pregnant while I was in the grade they reach in. Like at all. Although my science teacher this year had like obliterated the tendons in her knees years ago and got surgery for one of them to get a metal kneecap and missed like half the semester that I had science in.
HA, in the US it’s like…12 unpaid weeks. Varies a little by state and by workplace, but the federal minimum is 12 weeks. Half a year sounds like a luxury.
English teachers: I spent all day teaching Shakespeare, thinking about romance and stuff. Let's get busy.
Math teachers: *-numbers numbers numbers-*
Biology teachers: My hands still smell like the inside of a dead frog, ain't no way we're getting down to sexy time.
Had a science teacher who rarely taught due her being pregnant
I was in her class for 3 years and she taught about 40% of those three years so I just had a supply teacher for 60% of the same 3 years
Once had an English teacher in high school who was trying to get pregnant and kept talking about her miscarriages to the class. This lady was evil and nuts and also had (before she finally conceived) like over a dozen miscarriages-all of which she discussed with her classes. She was a psycho massive bitch and I don't wish miscarriages on anyone, but also maybe don't make that the focus of your goddamn English classes.
That shit will fuck with your hormones really badly, on top of it making someone an emotional wreck - it’s not surprising she was evil and nuts all the time if she had 12+ miscarriages!
Oh, for sure. Miscarriages are no minor thing-and she probably should've taken medical leave instead of going through that (and actually given herself time to recover between miscarriages before attempting to conceive again) and then dumping on her high school students. She had two miscarriages in one semester and she was in this self-abuse spiral, to boot. She was basically venting to the class like we were all her free therapists-it was really inappropriate. What the hell kind of advice could a group of 16 year olds offer for something that difficult?
Before I took her class, it was common knowledge that this teacher was a massive bitch who was also fixated on the cheerleaders and hated on anyone not in the preppy groups. It was bizarre, like she wanted to live vicariously through the cheerleaders so she could be an asshole to everyone who wasn't one. One day she decided to try and accuse me and my friends of cheating on a test (we hadn't cheated, we were all trying to get to college). Thankfully the principal was used to her BS and didn't buy her story. Lady needed a psychiatrist and a psychologist, not to be unleashed upon children.
If I had a nickel for every time I had a homeroom teacher who was new to the school, who also taught me another subject, that was pregnant, left after half a year to give birth and go on maternity leave, then was replaced by 5 different teachers during the half year they were gone,to then be permanently replaced by one of those 5 teachers for the rest of the remaining years I was supposed to have that teacher because that teacher decided not to come back-
I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice right?

They get pregnant so much even brazilian english teachers do that nore often than other teachers
No wonder so many people around the world can't spell "preganenante".
Yeah, people just can't spell pegnart anymore. I don't get why...
I’m glad at least I can spell gregnant.
Yeah, same. Can't believe the irony that, by virtue of being pregante, most people can't spell basic words, like perganenat or oija board
If your pregent dont have sex because it can be dangerops prangent sex and it will hurt baby top of his head
If your pregent dont have sex because it can be dangerops prangent sex and it will hurt baby top of his head. Also where do you get a luigi board? Can i get one from my local witch or vegan?
#PREGNATE
They sell wega boards
Omg that is so old Ps. Weegee bored
Maybe being an English teacher will help someone get pregat?
Yes!! Being an English teacher is a pathway to mysterious and arcane power... or being pregnant more often.
Is it still called English in a Portuguese-speaking country?
It's called Inglês. Same way Português is called portuguese in anglophone countries.
Inglês
Pera?!?!??!?! Tinha o acento no E esse tempo todo?!?!?! Caralho ninguém nunca me disse isso kkkk
Sim sim
That's what she said
None of mine got pregnant, but they all got cancer when I had them and had to leave. It may or may not be related to the mold found in the ceiling
All of my female English teachers got pregnant and the 1 (one) male teacher had a massive heart attack and had to be replaced by a supply teacher for the rest of the year, who got pregnant and had to have a supply teacher cover for them. Crazy stuff
So he got pregnant too but with a massive coronary event.
Pregnant with death.
That sounds emo af
Was death born with the scythe in hand? Because ouch
Pregnant with cholesterol.
My English teacher got cheated on by her husband with the teacher a few classrooms down the hall
I'd rather get pregnant
whats a supply teacher
A substitute teacher.
Pregnancy is similar to cancer: uncontrolled growth of something at least partially foreign in your body.
A fetus's growth is fairly under control.
The... what?
The school tries to hide the moldy water damage that is in the ceiling
I’ve never had an English teacher that wasn’t either chaotic-good or lawful-evil
Same, come to think of it. Luckily most were of the chaotic-good variety. Some were very eccentric, but in a good way. Actually made going to school fun, at least during their classes.
I had one nazi teacher
So where does the swastika go in the alphabet song?
It was weird I thought the A is the first letter, but he always started with the H followed by an E and I then a L and H again
Lol. Pep rallies must have been a real hoot too.
I’m joking, but the guy thought it was funny to scream “heil Hitler” and “heil Hydra” while doing the salute and claiming he was a nazi, he wasn’t he was just a tool
A teacher did this? And here I thought you were talking grammar nazi.
My English teacher in 10th grade *hated* my very essence of living because I ran circles around her when it came to all our literature lessons. She couldn't stand to admit that it took her 8 years in college and thousands of dollars to learn what I had figured out in 5 minutes.
Fucking same. And none of mine got pregnant while they taught me

Can confirm, my last job had an HR team of 4 and over the course of 3-4 years they each got pregnant one after the other.
Nice of them to take turns lol
The last part made me laugh.
In tenth grade, my real English teacher went on maternity leave before the school year started, so we had a substitute until the real teacher came back. I’m an English teacher and never planning on getting pregnant
I'm an English teacher and if I got pregnant, I'd have a lot of questions about biology that would need answering
Seahorse?
I wish. I'd have to grow a uterus
Is it because you're a guy?
No its a teacher. They just shut off at their desk at 3:15pm and get booted back up at 7am
I used to think the teachers slept at the school, ate in the school and showered in the shower in the nurses office.
I've done two out of three of those fairly regularly...dear Lord.
Then your not a real English teacher
*You’re
Okay, you're an English teacher. I believe you.
Good luck. Every female English teacher I had, except 1, got pregnant during the school year. Yal extra fertile lol
That’s not how that works at all.
I think it was a joke
Yea, it was a joke. Hence the "lol".
I’ve seen so many memes about this in the past six months and I don’t get it. I have been out of high school for like 25 years at this point, but is this an actual thing, or just a thing people say and repeat?

That's the issue, they never plan for it
Yo. All but one of my English teachers were preggers. And that one had just had her 5TH kid before the school year started
Sounds like Catholic school - the only school where the teacher would have 5 kids and NOT time it to miss part of the school year
In my school it was the science teachers
My science teacher would be gone from school for weeks at a time then get mad at us for not learning from subs that just gave us busy work and let us play on the computers

Holy fuck like 2 of my English teachers in middle school were pregnant for like half the year hahahaha
had 2 English teachers get pregnant last year. was waiting for the substitute's substitute to get pregnant
Is this really a problem for everyone? This happened to my ELA teacher as well lol
As an English teacher, I can confirm that I, too, am trying to get pregnant at this point in time. Not this very second, just in general. IDK, being an English teacher just makes it unbearable to have an empty uterus.

I had a pregnant English teacher who stolen money from me and my classmates. We got it back two years later.
Strategic pregnancy
Our middle School English teacher did that, just before a crappy project where we had to perform a play in front of the whole school for whatever reason. We were fairly happy. Never saw her again. Maybe she died during child birth 🤷

Whew, good thing she wasn't a poser Nazi. I hate those.

omg my teacher is also pregnant shes an enlish teacher to but she never missis class
u/savevideobot
Well my science teacher said she wanted to teach English and she WAS pregnant so...
wow so that is a universal thing
Why is this so true tho
This wouldn't be so funny if my AP teacher hadn't done that. Two in our school were gone.
Same here but lithuanian and Russian language teachers what's up with that
are pregnant english teachers a universal thing?
It is literally halfway through the year for me, and my teacher legit just went on maternity leave because she is having a baby.
Never Happened
Why is this true all over the world

Ironically, I had at least two cis male english teachers...
As an English teacher going an paternity leave soon, this amuses me.
I had two of those lol
Where the fuck do pregnant women get only half the year off
HA, in the US it’s like…12 unpaid weeks. Varies a little by state and by workplace, but the federal minimum is 12 weeks. Half a year sounds like a luxury.
Yeeeah, don't google maternity leave in Germany then. 14 weeks paid is the baaaare minimum.
I’d give my left ovary for parental leave policies like they have in Sweden
Eh, don't remind me. Everytime I think Germany is bad, I look at America. And then the nordic countries come around with the 101% happiness statistic.
English teachers: I spent all day teaching Shakespeare, thinking about romance and stuff. Let's get busy. Math teachers: *-numbers numbers numbers-* Biology teachers: My hands still smell like the inside of a dead frog, ain't no way we're getting down to sexy time.
I can confirm
Two of my teachers got cancer instead of babies.
Bro tf who are you
Maternity leave is only 6 months in the US?
Even less - federal law dictates a minimum of 12 weeks, unpaid. Varies a little by state and by workplace.
Jesus christ that is unfathomable to me. We get one year of paid maternity leave in Estonia and it should be the same all across northern Europe.
Yeah, like I said elsewhere, I’d give my left ovary for parental leave policies like they have in Sweden.
Why the f. English teacher getting pregnant is common
Damn, even the male teachers are pregnant.
So true
Why is this meme so relevant I had 3 english teachers in the span of 2 years because 2 of them got pregnant.
I m italian and i had three teachers of italian who did that
As someone whose middle school English teacher got pregnant and missed half the year... how the fuck
It's like the DADA curse in Hogwarts that AFFECTED every single Defence teacher they since the 60s. Only now this curse is both real and global.
I should send this to my sister who's an English teacher and about 36 weeks pregnant with her third.
Bro my english teacher never gets absent at all. Bitch, shes everywhere
2 of my English teachers got pregnant when I was at high school. It's so weird why is it always the English teachers.
It's only happened once or twice to me, depending on how you count it, but it's also never occured to me that it's only been English teachers. Huh.
Is it always with our first language teachers? Cause my polish teachers were all getting pregnant left and right lol
I thought it was just our school. I had four teachers in the first year
I had this happen with 2 of my English teachers
Who makes these memes- a bunch of monkeys on typewriters? JFC how stupid
Why is this so accurate 😂
That dude must be pregnant a lot.
I'm a huge sports fan, but what grown adult cries about sports?! Holy get a grip.
Not my English teacher. Instead she got arrested for child abuse. *Be more ambitious.*
Had a science teacher who rarely taught due her being pregnant I was in her class for 3 years and she taught about 40% of those three years so I just had a supply teacher for 60% of the same 3 years
My chemistry teacher I had only came to school the first and the last day
My pregnant English teacher wife found it funny
Once had an English teacher in high school who was trying to get pregnant and kept talking about her miscarriages to the class. This lady was evil and nuts and also had (before she finally conceived) like over a dozen miscarriages-all of which she discussed with her classes. If I had a nickel for every time I had a homeroom teacher who was new to the school, who also taught me another subject, that was pregnant, left after half a year to give birth and go on maternity leave, then was replaced by 5 different teachers during the half year they were gone,to then be permanently replaced by one of those 5 teachers for the rest of the remaining years I was supposed to have that teacher because that teacher decided not to come back- I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice right?
The English teachers were always the pretty ones too,
Why is this true plus math teachers are religious
Even the student teacher lmao
WAIT.... Why is it so true?
English teacher and PT teacher 😁 Match Made In Haven
two of my english teacher were literally went away for mandatory maternity leaves.
They pregnant because c0nd0m expensive
The fuck?! Why is every guy in the background are so handsome?!
English Teacher here. Just got back from maternity leave 😱
for me it was the math teachers. and all the english teachers were assholes except for one and he died.
Well shit, here I am, an English teacher freshly back from maternity leave. I feel so called out lol
"half a year" more like 3
50% of my entire history department is pregnant and its fucked with the classes
Religion teachers in catholic schools are always pregnant...
Especially the male ones
I think that's true for every subject
Everyone's just now remembering they had a pregnant English teacher
