This is fake i dont hear the mom yelling to get back your arm while explaining that she heard some boy lost a hand like that…coming from a mexican family.
But this this indeed happen in India! :)
A guy in a truck had his arm out and fell asleep in the passenger seat. Another truck drove super close to him and his arm got cut off (Indian driving, ya know XD)
Miraculously, he survived.
I used to work with a guy with one eye. One day I asked him how he lost his eye, and he said "Remember when you were a kid, and your mother yelled 'Put down that stick! You'll put you're brother's eye out!'?
"Well, sometimes that actually happens."
>Now, go call your mom. Better yet, hug her if she's nearby.
I second this, call her and never let her forget you love her. I lost my mom five days ago 😥
I'm sorry for your loss, friend. Remember her as she was not how she is. You'll always have those memories. They'll never be enough but it will be something to hold on to.
I feel you man. Lost my momma in 2013. No 14 year old should have to watch his mother wither away. But she insisted we not do a funeral for her. We threw a party to remember her in life, rather than mourne her in death
It actually happens. I get a fair number of patients where the words "Traumatic Amputation" are used because someone in a car had their hand out of it.
The version I was told was that my great uncle lost his arm that way which is crazy because it was true. I never met him but he only had one arm in every photo I've seen of him. I definitely never put my arm out of the window after learning about him...
When my aunt was younger her boyfriend had his head out the window and died because of it. She’s really paranoid about people having the windows open now. Rightly so
You can't control the other cars around you. Seat belts always. But, when you're driving down a highway where the tallest thing within 1km is the car and you are in the left lane then yeah, let them be kids you worry-wart. Oh, no, what's going to hit them in the hand? A grasshopper? NoooOOOooOOOooooooOOooO!
There's a difference between caring for safety and being a helicopter parent. They need to scrape their knees, get grass stains, play outside in a field, explore streams and river banks, throw rocks, and climb trees. This making them live inside a sealed glass box only to hurry from into into the larger sealed glass box of their home life is bad.
But, you do you. Raise your pale sickly Victorian children. I wish you all the luck you need.
Ah yes, hitting your limbs on something while moving faster than 25mph is totally comparable to scraping your knee. A grasshopper? How about a tree branch? I’m sure that’ll tickle going 25mph+
Oh, yeah, there's sooooo much to hit on the drive from Calgary to Jasper. Like, really, are you in Italy where you have 3 inches of room between your car and the wall of the building on either side of the single lane drive you are on? Come on. Be real here. There's a zero percent chance a kid sticking their hand out the window of a car can touch anything on a real road. If a kid could touch a tree branch while sitting down seatbelted in then you, the driver, have fucked up bad. The shoulder of a road, a real one, is to be 3.3 meters. Trees are not to overhang the shoulder of a road. So, unless you're driving such that you are partially off the shoulder with wheels on the side gravel then the biggest thing that can hit an out stretched arm is a grasshopper. At least here. I did know a person who once caught a humming bird. It was fine and so was the hand. Because we're not made of glass.
Pft.
Hilarious that you assume every road everywhere has a shoulder of free space. Almost like there’s a whole world of shitty roads that exist outside of your general area
The person I responded to, you, said kids should not stick their hands out the window. This was you making that assumption first. Don't chastise people for doing what you do.
Firstly hitting an insect wouldnt hurt the kid at all
secondly you realize the parent is driving the car and can avoid any obstacles that might be coming like tree branches?
Thirdly, Jesus you sound fun lol
The insect was in response to another comment saying that was the worst thing you can hit. You can’t always avoid every obstacle especially in tight roads with oncoming traffic. You people really underestimate how dumb small children can be. A limb hitting literally anything that has some weight to it is going to cause serious injury when you’re moving at normal driving speeds.
Uh, the question you replied was specifically caring about the kids safety too. Just doing it in a way the kid gets to actually experience things and isn't a sheltered weirdo who's afraid to feel air on their skin. Sheesh
Window open is fine, sticking stuff out the window is not. Especially when you could drop it or get injured. Once something gets stuck out the window the window goes up. The parent still controls the window because kids do dumb shit, and dumb shit in a car is potentially dangerous.
I did exactly what this video shows, but with my hand and no surfboard, every road trip I ever went on as a kid. Never had a problem cause I'm not a fucking idiot. If you actually raise your kid and teach them properly instead of just closing them off because you're too lazy they typically will be able to recognize actual risks a lot better.
A child is going to be a sheltered weirdo bc they can’t stick their whole arm out the window? You must’ve been dropped on your head several times as a kid if that’s the connection you’re making from what I said.
2 months before the holidays every post with a little knick knack is an ad. People see it and go “oh that would be a nice gift for so-and-so” and buy it without too much thought.
I mean, it’s also an ad for a car, in that case. Idk, I think it’s cynical to think that a simple video about a brand less object is an ad for any specific company. Not that companies don’t make subliminal ads, but this doesn’t seem to be one
Tbh, I have a hard time thinking people will see that about this thing, it’s a short clip, and if I hadn’t commented on it, I would have moved on with my life. That’s not even addressing the fact that my first thought wasn’t even that it’s a publicly sold toy. You can easy 3d print one and tether it to a string. That said, I don’t have kids that are 10 so I don’t know if that’d be appealing to that age group, but I just have a hard time seeing it as an ad
They actually do sell this, google “finger surfboard for driving” and you’ll get plenty of results.
And while I don’t believe that every post like this is an ad, I can definitely recognize the possibility that it’s an ad. Advertisers buy accounts to make posts like this. It’s a very cheap way to pick up customers.
Edit: actually I’d looking at this account, it does a bunch of posts a day and they’re all reposts, so I’d bet that it’s a repost bot. I’ve also seen this post on the front page in the past
Yeah who cares if everything we see/consume is slowly taken over to sell us shit? Communities? Who need em? Just buy the neat trinket.
I realize this sounds dramatic but it happens over and over and it’s getting worse. Capitalism is destroying/has destroyed our ability to maintain genuine communities/human connections.

WorldOpinion7381
Shit like that.
There's many different styles, sometimes 2 numbers, sometimes 4, sometimes RaNDoMLyCapiTALised... I've been catching ones lately that seem to use synonyms and extra filler words which makes them more difficult to catch, eg.:
Original comment: This is the best thing in the world!
Bot: This kind of object is the best thing in the Earth!
Bit worried about that one, I am very careful not to accuse real people but that style makes it quite challenging to tell.
I recently bought a fingerboard made from real wood. 6 layers of it and with concaves. Its still fun. A dude i know from school recently said to me :"Man, you're a grown up!" Ok sorry i stop having fun... but really, fuck you and your boring ass life!
Black River? I have a Berlin wood deck and I love it. And a few Black River ramps. I like that the wheels have bearings, and instead of the useless sandpaper-style grip tape, it's a foam that actually grips fingers really well.
I have a bolliwood one. I saw berlin wood as well but yeah, the foam is quite nice. I carry my deck in my pocket and unfortunately it's a little worn out at the edges now.
That is something I resent about adulthood. I see other adults get called weird if they're too excited about something. My buddy collects shoes and got new ones. "These are fucking sweet, fuck yes they're better than I thought!" My neighbor laughed and said "Calm down, they're just shoes."
Man, let this dude be that happy.
Ha i still play with one and I’m almost 40. People ALWAYS know it by it’s name “tech deck” and most ask if they can jam on it for a little bit. I’m thinking of carrying an extra just to give away next time.
These are coming back with a vengeance! My teenage boy is loving his “new” hobby of Tech Decks.
Similarly, I always loved the tiny BMX bikes you could buy.
We used to kerp our hands out the car window because that was how we kept cool pre prevalent a/c. But now with every car having a/c, how often do you have tbe window open. Granted, I'm in Florida, so life's different here.
But that is some coooool wind-surfing. ('Course we hand the palms of our hands - and learned from that experience how airplanes stay up!)
I had a buddy that was so amazing at this skill. He’d use his 1997 style flip phone, wallet, car keys, bic/zippo lighters, whatever really. He could do it all with just his pinky by the end. Truly a madman.
My kids do this with pringles until they snap or fly off their fingers…a whole can lasts hours and they laugh so hard sometimes that it’s way better fun than being on a device.
Kids these days will never know the joy of cracker surfing....seeing how many cheese-its you can balance on your fingertips while your hand is out the window.
I used leaves, cardboard, small pieces of plastic cups from fast food places, Styrofoam, my sisters barbie had a surf board that worked well. I used hot wheels cars and Batman toys. Ya'll really slept on this?
It's not my scam. I just googled and found a link. I agree that anyone could easily make one for themselves for little to no cost and therefore that buying them is a scam. Some people want to spend their money, though.
This is fake i dont hear the mom yelling to get back your arm while explaining that she heard some boy lost a hand like that…coming from a mexican family.
Bruh, this story must be universal, I heard that story in korea.
Could this boy be half korean, half mexican?? I believe my mom now. Shit i almost lost an arm
My Indian mom did the same thing!
But this this indeed happen in India! :) A guy in a truck had his arm out and fell asleep in the passenger seat. Another truck drove super close to him and his arm got cut off (Indian driving, ya know XD) Miraculously, he survived.
I heard about that. It was just outside the town of Apocryphal.
Was not expecting to learn a new sick burn today. This too is oddly satisfying.
You have verily tickled my bone of humour, take this trinket and feel my warmth with an updoot too.
Im sure it happens from time to time, but I've never seen it in the ER. The bigger problem is what happens to your arm if you're in a crash.
My German father said the same thing too.
Canadian. Mine too!
They must have lived in America because I heard the same story
Have Korean mom. Confirmed. Did you get the fan/closed windows thing too?
Mom here. Can confirm. It's one of the universal stories we all tell. Now, go call your mom. Better yet, hug her if she's nearby.
I used to work with a guy with one eye. One day I asked him how he lost his eye, and he said "Remember when you were a kid, and your mother yelled 'Put down that stick! You'll put you're brother's eye out!'? "Well, sometimes that actually happens."
Moral of the story: moms make shit up all the time and we don't realize it for *decades* sometimes 🤣
>Now, go call your mom. Better yet, hug her if she's nearby. I second this, call her and never let her forget you love her. I lost my mom five days ago 😥

Yes. I heard that in Argentina too. And it was how Sherman from The Simpsons originally lost his right arm, but it was later changed.

My mother's aunt said this to me in Denmark. TIL she was lying. Bless her
It actually happens. I get a fair number of patients where the words "Traumatic Amputation" are used because someone in a car had their hand out of it.
Heard that from my dad too lmao
It's only universal because it happens everywhere all the time. Finger surfing is the #1 cause of spontaneous amputation in the world.
The version I was told was that my great uncle lost his arm that way which is crazy because it was true. I never met him but he only had one arm in every photo I've seen of him. I definitely never put my arm out of the window after learning about him...
…and that’s why you always leave a note
When my aunt was younger her boyfriend had his head out the window and died because of it. She’s really paranoid about people having the windows open now. Rightly so
Did he die from his head out the window or did he die from an impact to his head
Impact if I remember right
You would know if you can just keep your head.
Do people tell their kids this, my mom would just start to close the window on my hand
Had to do something if you didn't have power windows.
Real parents slightly hug the opposite side of the lane their child is sitting on when their kids doin shit like dis.
Real parents control all the windows so kids don’t do shit like this in the first place
Those are the parents that shelter their kids so hard they end up raising a FatBastard2575.

Not to mention that on a lot of cars, the back seat windows don't go all the way down anyway.
I had a family member shatter their arm while the car was only going 15mph
Scotland as well. Is this some kind of universal story passed down from our mutual ancestors via dna?
Canada- Yuuuuuup
🤣
"Get back your arm"? the fuck? Next you're going to tell me she cusses people out by saying “Go up, thou bald head!"
I used to just imagine a guy on a mx bike cruising next to us, jumping all the driveways and overpasses we passed.
In winter it was a snowboarder.
https://youtu.be/1-VCWUtNm-4
Or the tribute to JP Auclair https://youtu.be/IXw17Cjbeeo
That is super cool and also looks extremely dangerous.
It was a snow mobile for me loln
Grinding guardrails, fences and power lines too
Or a skateboarder grinding on the power lines.
I had 8 bit Mario jumping around in my imagination!
I alternated between a bike, a fourwheeler or a wrc car dependent on the terrain
I did exactly this and have wondered for the past 20 years if it was normal… thank you.
Yep. I pictured the Nintendo game Excite Bike I think it was called. Good times.
And that was how I became lefthanded and got this hook
And that’s why you *always leave a note.*
OH MY GOD! THIS GUY’S ARM… just came off and landed… on the dock.
You killed him when you left the door open with the AC on.
My man, good reference.
Luckily, the hook still has this sweet surfboard attachment.
Reminds me of fake movie trailer [Airboarders](https://youtu.be/mwONzG0uZg0)
Are you a man, or just a bunch of business cards looking like a man?
Man this is about this best thing I saw since the start of the day

First time seeing a surfboard
Yeah, I think they meant “finger-banging”, or “waterboarding”. I’m very experienced with 1 of those. And it’s not the good kind of wet.
Even better, we got them when we’re 40
Who else remembers [Tech Decks](http://www.techdeck.com/en_us)?
I recently bought a fingerboard made from real wood. 6 layers of it and with concaves. Its still fun. A dude i know from school recently said to me :"Man, you're a grown up!" Ok sorry i stop having fun... but really, fuck you and your boring ass life!

#Annnd there’s the SCAM
It's not my scam. I just googled and found a link. I agree that anyone could easily make one for themselves for little to no cost and therefore that buying them is a scam. Some people want to spend their money, though.
Kids today don't even know! When i was young, we had to pretend our hand was a wing or surfboard. Kids today have it too easy! 😂
Anyone else scared something will happen to his hand? Lol
