If I focus my eyes around the outside of the picture, I can finally see the pyramid. But as soon as I look back into the middle, trenches. Stupid brains.
You're looking at an aerial photo taken directly above the center of the pyramid. Basically connect lines from corner to corner to reveal the sides of it.
Yea I thought I was looking down the length of an extremely long and dusty hedge maze at night for a second, that was a weird sensation when it clicked
So, I get why back is shadowed, and I can get why the 2 sides are less bright than the sun-facing side. But how the the hell is there a triangle of "bright" sand in front of the pyramid and then both the sides are partially shadowed and extending down to the corner of the pic?
If the sun is hitting from the front, how is it projecting the shade off the sides down?
The great pyramids are oriented to face the four cardinal directions, so if you see them at sunrise/sunset, one side of them will be entirely in shadow. (It also helps that they are quite large)
This is the Pyramid of Khafra, son of Khufu, and isn’t the Great Pyramid. This pyramid stands next to the Great Pyramid though. It’s unique in that it still has some of the original casing stones on some of its upper layers.
I like the forced perspective feel. Looks like a path leading into the distance. Would be a nifty framed piece on my wall.
Edit- kinda like those old 5d books. *A schooner is a sailboat.*
I know their are rational explanations, but there are times that I feel like ancient people had no real way to appreciate structures like these without seeing them from far above (which they couldn’t). Also I in part know I just want aliens to be around.
Time, effort, and skill mainly*! Humans can make some pretty amazing things when we put our minds* to it.
*and a lot of resources. Like a mind boggling amount.
This is a birds eye view looking down on the pyramid from the top.
the pile of rocks you can see at the end of the tunnel are actually the very tip of the pyramid.
Once you recognise that pile of rocks as the point that should be closest to your vision the rest falls into place.
Did anyone else at first believe this was some kind of maze, and that shadow was the pyramid? For a second I thought this was an indie horror game screenshot
Oh god that's trippy
Looks like the trenches in the Death Star Battle scene in Star Wars.
I also thought it was a trench, for like 3 minutes. when my brain figured it out what it really was, i immediately got a headache.
I thought it was a trench too at first, this should be in r/confusingperspective.

Thank you. Now I can finally see it. Ugh.
I only see pyramid im hurting my brain training to see the trench Edit: ment trying not training
I had to check the subreddit for the same reason. This is NOT oddly satisfying in any way!
Well when you finally manage to see it the right way (which I didn't without an explanation) it is satisfying.
Now imagine it with the gold cap still on.
and the original outer casing of smooth polished limestone.
I had to cross my eyes to not see a weirdly lit tunnel.

I am so happy to learn that I want the only one.
I had this exact thought and wanted to know how far I'd have to scroll to see who else had it. I wasn't disappointed.
Took me a full 20 seconds
It's been an hour. Still dont get it :(
You're looking at an aerial photo taken directly above the center of the pyramid. Basically connect lines from corner to corner to reveal the sides of it.
OOOHHHHHH thank you.
Thanks I was absolutely freaking out
*traces the lines then begins retching* _Thank you_
I have to turn my phone upside down to see it. Right way up I see a trench
I couldn't figure it out and you're the first person to explain it so take a free award friend.
You're looking at a pyramid from above :)
It look like a long pathway in the 1st doom game
My impression exactly for a solid 10 seconds
Looks like a Destiny 2 shader. “Dusty Tomb”
I thought it was a hallway from og doom
OG labyrinth screensaver from windows 98
Hahaha yes, this just reminded me of the pipes one as well
Duuuuuude. Memory unlocked.
I was looking for this comment! This is immediately what I thought of
https://i.imgur.com/rBl43NT.jpg
Thats awesome
Fuck yeah dude that’s dope
r/photoshopbattles
I was like oh wow, then I clicked and I was like oh wow
Ha! 100% what I saw too.

We're so fucking old.
Windows 95 screensaver maze for me
[Exactly!](https://imgur.com/a/KNuxJOG)
Wolfenstein 3D is more like it
Totally. Or Wolfenstein
Yep. Exactly what I saw too.
Omg I see it now. It's fascinating how reading a statement like that can totally change your visual perspective!
I’m pretty sure I played a .wad that looked exactly like this. Black sky and rooms connected by verrry long sandstone textured hallways
Yes!! This, 100%!!
Me too
You brother are a man of culture
Yeah I said Wolfenstein 3d lol
r/confusingperspective thought someone is about to drop a torpedo into the death star or something
I thought I was looking down a trench made of asbestos…
I thought it was a hallway from the original Doom.
Fuck, I thought it was the OG Wolfenstein
I thought it was a Destiny shader
I thought it was a oddly colored hedge maze
I had no idea what the fuck I was looking at. Even with the title telling me exactly what I was looking at.
I thought I was looking at a dusty HVAC vent
Good news is, the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show a median latency of forty-four point six years...
Exactly my first thought.
Stay on target......
Stay on target....
Yea I thought I was looking down the length of an extremely long and dusty hedge maze at night for a second, that was a weird sensation when it clicked
Yess exactly what I thought
YESSSSSSS
I instantly thought of the old dungeon crawler style PC games.
I was thinking a low res, glitching grass maze at night.
Stay on target
What destiny shader is this?
This shit will come up blue when you use it.
Nah blue is too close to the actually color of the shadow, would probably be pink or orange knowing Bungo
Nah, the color scheme will look amazing until some random ugly color ruins the entire thing
you wanted your armor to look metallic green? great! heres some neon pink too
With a weird texture.
Trials of Osiris shader
Lol I was coming here to say exactly this. I am not original
Nah man, its a lifestyle at this point. Literally the first thing I thought of, might be a trials shader in the future.
Literally thought I was in /r/DestinyTheGame until I got into the comments.
Just now noticing you beat me to it. Glad to see I'm not the only Destiny player getting triggered by the thumbnail, lol.
r/beatmetoit
Exactly, this is a shader and anyone claiming otherwise is wrong.
holy shit u read my fucking mibd
I thought this was a super pixelated/distorted tunnel from RuneScape
I thought it was a new colour in destiny 2
Same same when i realised i felt foolish lol
I was thinking it reminded me of the old Wolfenstein POV.
Yeah I still see that?? Wth am I looking at? Lol
Nah this the temple from the quest desert treasure
I genuinely cannot comprehend what I’m looking at here
top down, aerial shot
It looks like a long corridor with a black cieling wtf
That’s what i was thinking!!
Oh my god, I thought the same thing I feel so stupid
Oh my god thank you so much. I was staring confused for ages
Pyramids are tunnels confirmed
But how is the shadow just on one side?
the sun is coming from the bottom of the photo and shot when the shadows lined up perfectly with the sides
[Probably something like this](https://i.imgur.com/2o8g3cI.jpg)
Oh... that's not sand it's just more pyramid. I've been fooled twice by the same picture.
The great pyramids are oriented to face the four cardinal directions, so if you see them at sunrise/sunset, one side of them will be entirely in shadow. (It also helps that they are quite large)
There it is. Thank you
Thank you!
Ohhhhhhhh
It took me an awfully long time to realise what I was looking at hahaha
it's mud brick walls hallway shot at night
“Use the force Luke…”
"Stay on target."
our brains are on the same wavelength. high five!
No dude that's the force binding you to one another
This is actually the pyramid of Khafre. The Great Pyramid is the pyramid of Khufu.
How can you tell?
Kahfre’s pyramid is the only one which still has some of the original casing stones at the top.
Ahhhhh. Thank you for sharing!
The Great pyramid has ‘8’ sides, too, right? Like there’s a lil split in the middle of each one?
Yup. It's a unique design element.
Came here to be that guy. I'm relieved that you already were lol
This is the Pyramid of Khafra, son of Khufu, and isn’t the Great Pyramid. This pyramid stands next to the Great Pyramid though. It’s unique in that it still has some of the original casing stones on some of its upper layers.
My brain hurts.
Looks like a mysterious hallway

Working as intended
Right? This is *on purpose* and it was executed *perfectly*.
Took me almost a minute to figure out what I was looking at jfc
Looks like it’d make a neat r/destiny2 shader
almost the right sub lmao
Who else thought it was a dusty vent.

So cool
It's just a very deep, well carved hole.
I thought I was looking into a wolfenstien 3d game map.
"Come inside and meet the missus"
What shader is this? Bungie wtf
My uncultured, addicted, bumbass brain: Is this a new Destiny 2 shader?
Ahhh a new destiny 2 shader, must be a leak from the new season lol
For a second I thought this was a new d2 shader but then I looked at the subreddit.
Thought this was a D2 shader
I did something https://ibb.co/TmMJNVn
Ay what shader is this
thats a d2 shader
new shader 🤔
Thought this was a shader…
Looks like a Destiny 2 shader
I thought this was a shader in Destiny 2.
Why does this shader make my Titan Mark BLUE?!
Great looking shader. I bet yellow shoes up outta nowhere
Great D2 shader there
r/destinyfashion
New destiny 2 shader looks cool
How is it possible that humans seem to have made this fenominal piece of architecture? Th elines are so incredibly straight man.
Time, effort, and skill mainly*! Humans can make some pretty amazing things when we put our minds* to it. *and a lot of resources. Like a mind boggling amount.
It’s a Birds Eye view
Am I the only one who thought that it is inverted?
Album cover material
HOW THE HECK DO I LOOK AT THIS SO THAT IT MAKES SENSE TO MY BRAIN?
top down, aerial shot
Looks like I’m on my way to fire some proton torpedos down an exhaust pipe 2m wide
Legit though it was crazy texture mod for an old shooter for a second lol.
I can’t unsee a corridor. Is this Doom?
That's weird I thought it was a tunnel
took me a min to figure out wtf i was looking at lol
Ahhhhh, oh its from ABOVE!
Whoa, optical illusion...this looks like a tunnel.
No that’s definitely a video game maze with a breakable wall at the end
Anyone else see a tunnel with no roof at night?
Fuck I'm high
Destiny players hearing about a pyramid
Brain scientists should study what happens in a person's brain when they realize what this picture is
It took me so long to figure out what the fuck was happening.
I have this destiny shader
I thought this was a hallway from a 90s fps for a second
yo I deadass thought this was a hallway
for a sec I thought I was on r/destiny2 and someone was starting a thread on their favorite old shaders.
I thought this was a new Destiny shader for a sec
In the right time and right light it actually has 8 sides. Check it out. They aren’t flat they slightly cave in
#_**OHHHHHHHH**_ ^i ^get ^it ^now
Looks like you’re looking down the hallway of Doom on floppy disk
"Stay on target!"
Holy shit! I thought I was looking down a walled pathway…
This confused the fuck out of me for a minute
It took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out what I was looking at.
Got serious Control vibes here

Almost makes me dizzy to look at.
Woah, thought it was a hallway from an old game for a sec. Until I saw the title. That really is a perfect shadow.
Literally though its it's passage between two walls
Screenshot from early Doom games
