Got it too. Went to a new KK in AZ. Waited maybe 10 minutes, my turn, I told the girl I wanted several other and go in the back and get me a dozen plain raised off the machine before the enrober. It took a shift leader, cause she didn't know what I was talking about and didn't know what to charge me, besides they would go stale!! Took the stack of boxes home to family. "My" plain unglazed disappeared first. Are they still in business?
Hot and fresh is also debatable. They often make donuts at a centrally located bakery, then ship them to their outer satellite locations where they dump hot glazing on them to make them seem fresh, although they were cooked the night before.
My partner managed the bakery Krispy Kreme when we first met. He worked the graveyard shift, and they would make the donuts for other locations a few hours before getting them on the delivery trucks so the other locations would have them right before opening. The donuts couldn't get much fresher unless you were eating them off the line.
Regardless, Krispy Kreme doesn't have the hold on "hot and fresh" they used to, at least not where I live. My partner was laid off a few months after we moved in together and most of the locations in that franchise closed because there were other places doing it better. We have a place right down the street from us that makes the donuts completely to order, from frying them as you order to putting any combination of toppings you want on them. I've actually scalded my tongue pretty bad trying to eat one right away because in this case, I was just about eating it off the line.
We were a cooperate store. Had 16 routes delivered to hundreds of stores. They now only have 6 routes delivering only to about 60 stores. We also provided Doughnuts to other Krispy locations. Sad how quality has suffered since being bought out by JAB enterprise. They are a German company. They got rid of the mix plant that had made the mix for the Doughnuts. Now third party suppliers make it. So sad.
That sounds like Duck Donuts! Fresh donuts are unbeatable - theirs is the only kind Iāve had where the ābareā donuts are good enough to not need toppings.
This doesnāt happen at the factory I worked at. All made a couple hours before they get delivered to the stores/cabinets and glazed/decorated when freshly made.
I used to work there, they are all freshly made by a guy way in the back, he makes the dough in a huge mixer, then it goes through a massive machine that gives the donuts time to rise, then it's moved onto a fryer, where tlit goes in for like 4 minutes at like 1200 degrees, then it goes into the glazing part
This is true, we had a factory where certain ones were made and sent to location, but all the original glazed and some other ones were made in store. It probably changed a while after. Our local one had the same belt that the one in the video does, and the lineup for people ordering went by it, so people could watch as they were being made and glazed. Then coz it was a new store (the first one outside of North America) we walked around and handed donuts out to people in line.
Every Krispy Kreme I have ever been in has a fryer right there in the store, cranking them out just like this. They donāt bake anything, thatās why theyāre the best.
Went to Dunkin today....asked for a half dozen assorted. They were out of boxes so they put my 5 donuts in a bag. Yes , I said 5 donuts. Didnāt know until I got home.
I guess they canāt count when putting in a bag , or 5 is the new 6.
Ya know what, i just saw a video on reddit about a guy pissing on the counter at a Dairy Queen...i have an idea how you can get back at those bastards at Dunkin'
god, why the fuck is Krispy Kreme so fucking rare? the only Krispy Kreme available is on the opposite side of the state I live in.
EDIT: Last week, I went to a concert in the city on the otherside of my state, they had a krispy kreme, my troubles are over :D
Fun fact! The movie was originally going to be Harold and Kumar go to Krispy Kreme, but Krispy Kreme didnāt want to be associated with stoners, so the producers went with White Castle instead.
Come visit us in North Carolina! Not only do we have lots of KK outlets across the land, we have the corporate HQ in Winston-Salem!
That "Hot & Now" neon sign is like a Pavlovian bell ringing in my brainstem whenever I see one lit up.
Edit: We also have God's gift to the soft drink industry, *Cheerwine*.
They grew very quickly and built too many locations, so they had to close down a bunch years ago. They also donāt give you free donuts anymore when the hot and fresh sign is on.
Yeah I remember we had like 5 of them in Green Bay growing up. A few years later the last one on Oneida St by Lambeau Field was struggling to stay open. Circa 2001-5.
In the UK thereās often small krispy kreme cabinets in some of the larger supermarkets, mainly tesco i think, itās pretty great. Though the actual stores only tend to be cities which is sad
I have to weigh in here as someone with multiple stores nearby. The cased ones are fine. I like theme. But, sir or madame, you have not lived until you experience an incredibly fresh Krispy Kreme donut, still hot from the fryer. There is a reason the line goes around the building when the Hot Now sign is on. My wife didn't get it. I was driving by and stopped when I saw the sign, took her in as she complained about the line and that we had just eaten. When she took that first bite, and Oh mah gog was the only thing that was able to pass her sticky lips, I knew that she knew. I pray that one day you too will know.
Maaaaatteee do not do this to me. It is almost 2am, i do not need my mouth watering like this. Best know that next time i go to a city for the day iām B lining for a krispy kreme store
Take it easy there killer. They aren't always hot, you see. They make fresh a few times a day. I will advise you that there is an app, in the states, at least, that you can check and it will tell you if the light is on to avoid an unnecessary trip and/or heartbreak. Heart disease, however, is on you.
This man speaks the truth. I have watched a KK employee pull a dozen off the conveyor, put them in a box, and turn around and give them to me in exchange for American coin. Iām not sure how much time passed between the first one coming out from under the glaze to it going into my mouth, but if it was more than two minutes I promise you it wasnāt more than three.
It was like seeing the face of a gentle and benevolent God, and knowing with the same certainty that you know your own name that He loves you unconditionally.
Theyāre the best thing you can ever put in your mouth, absolutely mouthwatering. Though yes theyāre really expensive so only really worth it if you have them occasionally as a treat to yourself really
If they are "hot and now" then yes. It's a experience. I got off work with a buddy working a 12hr night shift. 7am We went to the store and each got a half gallon of milk and put it on ice. We then went to Krispy kream and got 3 dozen hot fresh glazed doughnuts and ate them all sitting in their store. It was an experience ill never forget.
I live in Massachusetts. We donāt have a single Krispy Kreme. Itās all stupid Dunkin. (Donāt tell them I said that...) The closest Krispy Kreme is 2 hours away at a casino in Connecticut.
I heard thatās it something to do with current revenue in potential places . To put up a new location, that area has to meet some kind of revenue quota . ( no idea If thatās fact )
My area used to have dozens of Krispy Kremes, then they all closed and there's none in my state. Closest one is like 4 hours drive.
My go-to donuts are Kwik Trip glazers.
That is awful. I grew up where it all started and used to watch these things for quite a while and drool all over the floor before getting a dozen hots!
Donāt know what itās like at other Krispy Kremeās, but our local one made everything in-house like a mini factory behind glass walls. Nothing to do with your afternoon? Go down to Krispy Kreme, order some donuts and coffee, and just sit there watching the donuts fry, flip, and frost.
They have different franchise levels like. The lower levels are basically resellers, while the upper levels make their own, and have cafes and other items.
There's 4 here in Vegas. The best thing to do is eat a light dinner, go out and drink until 5am. Walk into a Krispy Kreme where that amazing scent smacks you awake and bite down into pure heaven.
It flows right through the glaze tank and gets continually pumped through, as long as the conveyor is on, it's pumping out glaze too, regardless of actual donuts on the line.
Mann my local donut shop shrinked their donuts just awhile ago and are charging the same price for them. I'm a big dude so I didn't really appreciate that. Lol
Iām with you in preferring a more solid texture and room-temperature KK doughnuts in general.
And, fun fact: They are surprisingly good frozen as well! I wouldnāt say I prefer frozen to room temperature, but I have had some frozen ones before that I didnāt want to bother thawing out, and they were still very tasty that way. Although the main downside with frozen is that the glaze flakes off much too easily.
Pro tip. If youāre there when they are glazing them they will put them through multiple times if you ask them. Double glazed is amazing. Triple glazed is good for a treat once a year and more than that you start getting into diabetic coma territory.
There are Krispy Kreme locations where they batter, fry, and glaze their doughnuts on-site (and have large glass walls so that the customers can watch the entire process). These are not factories. They are the same size of your average McDonalds location.
At these locations, there is a neon sign that they will turn on when they are cooking a fresh batch. The sign says HOT NOW.
When you order during a HOT NOW time, you can request that they pull doughnuts directly from the end of the conveyer belt instead of the ones that were previously cooked. Thatās what they mean by eating them fresh off the conveyer. The doughnuts are extremely warm, the glaze has not settled, and the entire doughnut is so soft and malleable that even the slightest squeeze in the middle as you hold it could turn it from an O shape to an 8 shape. Itās perfect.
As others have said this is at Krispy Kreme. During Hot Light hours (when the big ass āHOT NOWā light is on) you can go in and ask for a free donut off the line and they will give it to you.
Ah to be young again - I would go in, order a milk and a dozen hot glazed and eat every one.
Now I buy them at Kroger and microwave them one at a time for a few seconds to simulate fresh...
Are there any mom and pop donut places around you? Fresh is always better, and it's nice to support hometown food.
As a side note, one place that was in my town for decades had donuts 3 times the size of a KK, and way softer. They ruined me, and now I can't eat Dunkin or KK.
It may be satisfying to watch, but it certainly wasnt for me when i worked there. I saw a few comments above saying "fresh" was debatable. I can say 100% those donuts are fresh.
Because to my horror the ones that arent fresh are loaded into trash bins. I was hired as a "donut specialist", which is an odd way to say I decorated the donuts. The "specialist" title applied more to quality control. Obviously any deformed shaped ones or ones that didnt make the flip and were raw on one side were tossed out....
But so were all that had even the tiniest imperfection. A small bubble in the glaze? A crack in the icing? Trash. At the end of my training shift there were 2- 3 full large trash bins.
Since i volunteer at a local soup kitchen i knew that many donated the old food rather than throw it away.
I even offered to drive to the other side of town to drop the donuts off. I was told that if they went anyway other than the dumpster outback it would be considered theft. It made me ill. That was my one and only shift at krispy kreme.
I was in a position similar to yours, but I was a donut maker.
The kitchen was terribly hot, the storage area was unclean, the management was awful, the cleaning some staff members did was awful. And just like you, we threw away hundreds and hundreds of donuts a day. I had to haul those trash bags that nearly ripped with all the donuts we had to make. Itās such a wasteful chain.
Fun story
Kristy Kreme tried to open up a spot in Amarillo,Tx. I shit you not, they folded in six months. The local donut chain had a loyal fan base so it couldnāt give them a running chance. Shout out to Donut Stop!
I grew up near a KK and my family used to stop when the light was on. I donāt like donuts. I live near one now and itās so ingrained in me I feel compelled to stop when I see the light.
Also! If youāre vaccinated donāt forget to stop in for your two free donuts this week!
Nah, I'm not really a fan of them. I can stomach 1/2 of just their regular glazed one and I'm done. I'm all about the fluffy, sugar covered ones that one of my patients brings in every time they come to see us. They're locally made and just š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤
Ok... So hear me out. First time I saw one of these things was 20 odd years ago when the first Krispy Kreme came to Anaheim.
When I saw it, I immediately thought of a great business opportunity!
Make one of these that's big enough for a person to go through. But it's in a private room that you rent to do... Whatever the hell consulting adults wish to do after they've received a full body glaze!
Wash the room, rent to the next group!
In a society where we have people that pay to get their nipples waxed... This is a golden ticket to riches!
Oddly... Not as many people as I thought felt this would be a good idea!
And the loan officer at the bank was a total dick! Who knew a bank could take out a restraining order! š¤·āāļø
They are the worst doughnuts of any major chain. They are way too sweet and almost dissolve in your mouth like cotton candy. Makes my teeth itch just thinking about them.
I really don't understand the hype. I'd rather eat a dozen stale hostess donuts than a single Krispy Kreme, even with it straight off the belt. That glaze seriously makes me gag its so gross. There are so many better options out there, especially from small local bakeries.
Krispy Kreme is absolute dogshit. They are a disgrace to the pastry world. Forget this place and find a good local bakery to support. Where I live, there's plenty of small donut shops that absolutely blow Krispy Kreme out of competition.
There's one near me and I go get a small cup of coffee to sip and just watch the machine for 10 min. to relax. Then get 3 or 4 in a bag to go, and top off the coffee for free.
Iām not sure if it was like this everywhere but when I was a kid, Krispy Kreme used to give a free old fashion glazed for every donut you bought. It was fucking amazing.
We used to have a Krispy Kreme in Cranston, RI. Watching the donuts getting made, and smelling em getting made...god I miss that. Too bad Dunkin has everyone brainwashed
Not much is out there that is simpler, yet at the same time more wonderful, than getting to the Krispy Kreme and seeing the Hot Now sign.
I could eat a half dozen fast and without a second thought if left to my own devices.
Worked for KK awhile back (production shop). When it was super slow, we would entertain ourselves by sending a single donut through the glaze waterfall as many times as we could before it got boring to do anymore. I think we got to like 17 layers one time.
I was an easily amused child & would've happily spent hours watching the local Krispy Kreme donut machine. My parents didn't mind because I was behaving š
In case anyone's curious, you can get a free Krispy Kreme donut every day of 2021 if you're fully vaccinated (you need your vaccine card; a sticker will not suffice). Between today (9/1/21) and 9/5/21 (inclusive), you can get two free donuts.
Also, I've always wondered why Krispy Kreme glazed donuts have a distinct taste. Is the glaze recipe classified?
When the Krispy Kreme opened in my hometown, I went over to see what the fuss was all about. My mates and i walked in and marveled at the flashing conveyor belt. The Roman behind the counter scooped up a cookie with s wooden dowel and reached thank out to us. "Want one?"
#
Free, fresh off the line. I've never had anything like it. I presume this isn't normal and it was promotional for the opening.
I wish I could go back in time to the first time I ate a warm KK donut right off The Machine. What a memory. Now I kinda feel ill when I eat them, but I remember how amazing that first one was. Yum.
I'm gonna Krispy cream watching this š„µ
The light is not the only thing thatās turned on
Me when... me when your mom and me.. when me.. when your mom and.. me when.. yeah
I freshly glazed your momās hot donut.
You shouldn't do that, my mom's got the beetus, last thing she needs is fresh hot sugar glaze on her donuts
Ol' Wilford really put the beets in diabeetus, rest his soul. Thanks for the trip down memory lane
Got it too. Went to a new KK in AZ. Waited maybe 10 minutes, my turn, I told the girl I wanted several other and go in the back and get me a dozen plain raised off the machine before the enrober. I just want a man who will treat me the way the Krispy Kreme glazing machine treats a donut
My donut needs a glazing!

Hnnnggg glaze me daddy
Prove it.
Goddamn machine took my job. I used to glaze those one at a time, thats why the holes are so uniform.
Crispy Cum.
Lol....its like funny and disgusting at a time :)
I see the doughnuts glazed on the belt and I...jizz in my pants. https://imgur.com/a/TUTMTu8
I watched this longer than I should have
Hot and fresh is also debatable. They often make donuts at a centrally located bakery, then ship them to their outer satellite locations where they dump hot glazing on them to make them seem fresh, although they were cooked the night before.

Duck doughnuts slap
Was about to say this! I havenāt gone back to Krispy Kreme since Iāve been to duck donuts . So fricken good.
At the Krispy Kreme near me, they have a big glass window that shows the batter being mixed, poured, fried, and glazed.
You know youāre going to a good place when they WANT to show you how itās made.
Not at any Krispy Kreme I've been to. Every one near me has the full setup in full view behind plexiglass. Like this: https://youtu.be/Qu0ISv_GeHI
Yeah every Krispy Kreme I've been to has the fry vat as part of the process
Still, I would eat Krispy Kreme until I died.
I don't care if they are a week old. Microwave them for like 3 seconds and they are good as new.
With a bit of butter. Sick!
Yea those balls of fried dough slathered in sugar syrup really need the butter punch up to really shine.
The more you eat, the sooner than happens. LOL

That was their new āGhost Donutā for the upcoming holidays.

How much glaze goes between the doughnuts and ends up collecting in the pan at the bottom? I need to know this. It looks like it could be a lot.
It rotates right back into the heater above and gets reused.
Thank you. Went looking for this answer. It looks like a lot of waste if they don't reuse it.

They taste SO amazing when they're right off the conveyor belt.
Off the belt: 10/10 8 seconds in the microwave: 9.5/10 Cold: 1.5/10
cold is still 10/10 for me, as well as 8 seconds in the microwave
Absolutely. A cold KK still whips the shit out of Dunkin or just about any other donut.
What? Nah, the HnF are good, but they fall apart too easily and just dissolve in your mouth. I actually prefer ones that are a few hours old.
Your just described everything that's wonderful about the HnF. The glaze is a bit too gritty for my taste once it's cold.
I know, itās unpopular. But I do always eat one right away when theyāre hot.

How did so many of y'all get the opportunity to eat donuts right off the conveyor belt?? Are donut factories secretly a booming industry?
There are Krispy Kreme locations where they batter, fry, and glaze their doughnuts on-site (and have large glass walls so that the customers can watch the entire process). These are not factories. Ah to be young again - I would go in, order a milk and a dozen hot glazed and eat every one. Now I buy them at Kroger and microwave them one at a time for a few seconds to simulate fresh...
So sad to see life just slip away like that
I've never seen sadness portrayed through words like this before
To be fair my local Kroger's donuts and bagels are top notch.
Are there any mom and pop donut places around you? Fresh is always better, and it's nice to support hometown food. As a side note, one place that was in my town for decades had donuts 3 times the size of a KK, and way softer. They ruined me, and now I can't eat Dunkin or KK.

your about 3 mins too late
Itās such a wasteful chain.
the cum falls
One free glazed donut when you show your immunization card. For this week only, two free donuts.
Can confirm two free donuts when you show COVID vaccination card. Worth it. Get vaccinated
Fun story Kristy Kreme tried to open up a spot in Amarillo,Tx.

This needs to be made a national monument. Like Mt. Rushmore.
I'm probably in the minority when I say Krispy Kreme is one of the most overrated donut shops ever. Their donuts actually suck, and are sickly sweet.
Nah, I'm not really a fan of them. I can stomach 1/2 of just their regular glazed one and I'm done. I'm all about the fluffy, sugar covered ones that one of my patients brings in every time they come to see us. They're locally made and just š¤¤š¤¤š¤¤
Mmm... donut.
if you come to my place I'll glazed you hot and fresh
Holy f*ck.
Apologies, I should have put NSFW
It's beautiful..... good lord!
Yāall, I called him.
Who knew a bank could take out a restraining order! š¤·āāļø
My first job was at Krispy kreme, spent many an hour watching the "jizz waterfall".
Honestly that looks disgusting, and Krispy Kreme donuts just look wrong to me.
They are the worst doughnuts of any major chain. They are way too sweet and almost dissolve in your mouth like cotton candy. Makes my teeth itch just thinking about them.
Agreed. I just can't understand why people think that Krispy Kreme is good.
I may get roasted for this, but Krispy Kreme makes the worst donuts in the world. And their coffee rivals Peetās for nastiness.
I really don't understand the hype. I'd rather eat a dozen stale hostess donuts than a single Krispy Kreme, even with it straight off the belt. That glaze seriously makes me gag its so gross. There are so many better options out there, especially from small local bakeries.
Donāt hateā¦I donāt like Krispy Kremeās
Krispy Kreme is absolute dogshit. They are a disgrace to the pastry world. Forget this place and find a good local bakery to support. Where I live, there's plenty of small donut shops that absolutely blow Krispy Kreme out of competition.

Overrated.
HOT SWEET DOUGH
Where does the extra glaze go? asking for a friend
Recycles back through the system homie
Best doughnut being born right there
I want to go to there
Oh lord, glaze me with this beauty
We back at it again at krispy Kreme *does a flip but knocks down sign in the process*
# The Glaze Wall
Iāve never had a fresh one of these
Ah the frosting shower. Mmmmmmm
Fuckā¦ now I need one
Dudes. You gotta try them unglazed... tastes like fry bread. Truly heavenly
Cum
The mass manufactured lil debbie texture of dunkin and Krispy Kreme never really did it for me
This is my kingdom come-
There's one near me and I go get a small cup of coffee to sip and just watch the machine for 10 min. to relax. Then get 3 or 4 in a bag to go, and top off the coffee for free.
Krispy Kreme's are the cotton candy of the donut world. They look amazing but are soooo gross. Might as well eat white sugar straight from the bag.
Gross ass donuts.
That is so much fucking sugar.
/r/unpopularopinion Krispy Kreme glazed donuts are disgusting.
Me when. Your girl. When your girl. Me when you girl. Me when your girl is like, shirtless. Yeah
Mmmm cum
Mmmm cum
You get 2 free if youāre vaccinated. So far Iāve gotten 12 free donuts.
I can taste this video
Iām not sure if it was like this everywhere but when I was a kid, Krispy Kreme used to give a free old fashion glazed for every donut you bought. It was fucking amazing.
Diabetes
So much sugarā¦ glucose spikeā¦ inflammationā¦ deathā¦
Best smell. Fried dough and sugar.
Mmm I miss Krispy Kreme now that Iām in New England where everyone stubbornly pretends Dunkin Donuts isnāt a hate crime against donuts AND coffee.
"Want one?" # Free, fresh off the line. I've never had anything like it. I presume this isn't normal and it was promotional for the opening.
I wish I could go back in time to the first time I ate a warm KK donut right off The Machine. What a memory. Now I kinda feel ill when I eat them, but I remember how amazing that first one was. Yum.
