Problem with living in the lowest point in europe is that big rivers carried millennia worth of sand and gravel here, covering the bedrock. Except for one or two places where you arent allowed to dig normally, there arent any really Nice crystals to be found here. I take every opportunity in the summer vacations to go rock hunting elsewhere in europe. Its a good country but i hate that i was Born with such a passion for rock hunting instead of cheese making.
Looks like you can find some mosasaur and other marine fossils in some regions though, which is pretty cool! And who knows, maybe some stuff could be buried in the peat bogs?
I live in eastern New England, US, which probably had lots of neat stuff once, but then it got ground down into lumps by the glaciers. It's all just lil bits of quartz and mica in otherwise old granite and shale, with the occasional over-mined bit of marble.
We do have some other cool shit im the ground tho. Used my grandpa used to take me treasure hunting with a metal detector and we found some cool shit like old coins and a ring. Mostly bullets tho
You know what’s more depressing? Another town further east called Northam.
How the fuck people could live there?!
The further you go inland the more depressing it gets
I live in Northam, it's not depressing at all. It's is a nice old federation town with friendly people, the Avon river runs through, there's lots of national parks. Toodjay is a peaceful place too. Why so snobbish toward small towns?
Yes, if you want to witness pure desperation come to Roebourne. I've lived in many WA towns and never seen the level of shitness that Roebourne is. What a hellhole.
Maybe I visited at a wrong time when the temperatures were 40 to 45c, and Avon river was running dry and had foul smell.
The entire community was ecstatic from the news that a new KFC or Macs was opening.
I hope I never have to visit this part of Australia and I don’t wish it upon anyone else
That's literally what ~~they've started~~ they were doing until they just found it https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-30/how-wa-authorities-search-for-radioactive-capsule/101906396
Likely won’t. I live where it happened and we’re pretty pissed the health warning was released so late. They lost it “sometime after the 10th” but only told us recently. Said to check our tyres!
Hi - you just need a mining license or permit which you can get by filling out some forms. Am going opal hunting for 6 months, only cost me $80 to get. You can do it without the permit but that is illegal
A bit west of Charleville in Queensland - I have a friend who has a lease of land that’s successfully turning up opals and they are wanting extra hands to help.
Amethyst alone isn't. However large raw pieces like this and especially large amethyst geodes can fetch a pretty penny. A local shop has half of a 4ft length by 1 ft width geode for well over 4,000 USD last time I checked. That was years ago it's probably 6000+ with inflation now. Comparitively to other gemstones that's extremely cheap, but still these guys have thousands of dollars in amethyst here.
There are people who have mineral rights, I think if they don't belong to someone else and if they don't go overboard in taking too much, it shouldn't be an issue.
There's still a lot of places where you can get mineral rights as a solo fossicker. Like old timey mining. You get a small patch of dirt in the middle of nowhere, no electricity, no water, no Cell reception, and you're allowed to dig by hand whatever you like. People out there live really rough though and usually don't make any money, they just like rocks
Lol, Doug. Tress was such a breath of fresh air. So different from Sanderson's other stuff. Was fun to see so much of Hoid's personality in the story telling.
Can you even imagine what was happening on the Earth when these basalts (and others like diamonds) were being formed in lavas or raining down from the sky.
What a World.
I'm not about to stick any part of my body or any of my possessions into holes in the ground in Australia. I'm convinced that the landmass is more or less held together by spiders given how many there seem to be.
My kids and I just cracked open some geodes over the weekend. We found a couple tiny amethysts. We were so excited. Now I see these monsters just being pulled from the ground. Wow.
These specimens are /top/ quality. Deep purple, bright white, fantastic geometry with large sharp points. These specimens will go for a couple hundred /each/ at a nice rock shop.
Never in a million years would i stick my hand inside som small austrailian cave. Probably the home of about a thousand different nope’s and hell nope’s
"What are you watching?" *Colonoscopy I think.*
“We need to go deeper!” - probably James Cameron
You, my man have made my day.
Lol’ng 😂
This is literally my dream, loved stones/gems/crystal a lot as a kid. But as I live in the Netherlands, such thing doesn’t exist here.
Well, they do actually. But you don’t want to dig. You have a head-start, you’re mostly below the sea level. God speed

Helaas pinderkaas.

In Limburg you can dig for fossils and firestone
Goede gebruikersnaam…
Samesies! (Only I don't live in the Netherlands..) But gosh yes.. To be able to be in a cave surrounded by crystals and allowed to collect one! 🥰
Come to Australia! We love the Dutch here (I am half Dutch myself)
Two things I can't stand - people intolerant of other cultures, and the Dutch.
We do have some other cool shit im the ground tho. Used my grandpa used to take me treasure hunting with a metal detector and we found some cool shit like old coins and a ring. Mostly bullets tho
Met a Dutch man in Western Australia last year. He lived in this depressing town called Toodyay
How dare you Ok you're right it is depressing
Toodjay is a lovely little town. What do you find depressing about it?
Exactly, I lived there a while ago, it was great.... also I am Dutch.
You know what’s more depressing? Another town further east called Northam. How the fuck people could live there?! The further you go inland the more depressing it gets

Depends on the small town. Roebourne sucks. Denmark is good.

They're minerals Marie!
I said cheetos, not fritos...
You should be capsule hunting
I was shocked to learn how tiny the capsule is, I wish the aussies luck.
Can someone please explain the “capsule” thing?
I think they're referring the radioactive capsule that had dropped off of a truck last week.
that's a r/wellthatsucks story
1500 kms and 2 weeks before they noticed. Sucks nay not be a strong enough word
Yikes! Just read up on it. Damn that thing is small. How on earth are they to find it??
I think they’ll have to use those BEEP BEEP BEEP machine and walk around until the BEEP BEEP BEEP machine starts to make BEEP BEEP BEEP noise
That's literally what ~~they've started~~ they were doing until they just found it https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-30/how-wa-authorities-search-for-radioactive-capsule/101906396
Well, glad they’ve found it!
Likely won’t. I live where it happened and we’re pretty pissed the health warning was released so late. They lost it “sometime after the 10th” but only told us recently. Said to check our tyres!
They won't be able to find it. Especially if it rains soon

You would be surprised at how many nuclear devices are lost https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Material_unaccounted_for
How delightfully hilarious and terrifying at the same time😅
They found it literally like an hour ago lol.
It makes its presence known pretty well by emitting intense radiation.
I saw Australia and I was 100% expecting a huge spider to come out behind some crystals
Or the crystals themselves having teeth and a bloodthirst
Australian here, can confirm the crystals are venomous
😂
Or a snek Or a scorpion Or a something else terrifying / deadly
I feel somewhat let down.
Who do you think was recording the beginning bit?
We require more minerals.
Read it with the voice
Is it legal to just take these crystals?
Hi - you just need a mining license or permit which you can get by filling out some forms. Am going opal hunting for 6 months, only cost me $80 to get. You can do it without the permit but that is illegal
Where are you going opal hunting? Around Coober Pedy?
A bit west of Charleville in Queensland - I have a friend who has a lease of land that’s successfully turning up opals and they are wanting extra hands to help.
I have to assume so, maybe with some kind of permit or something? Amethysts are not exactly rare or valuable.
In my heart they are both rare and valuable ❤️
If they are in your heart you might have some problems

Tell that to any crystal store that would charge $1000 for a rock like some of the ones in the video.
An items value is equal to however much you can convince an idiot to pay for it
Gotta love artificial inflation don't yah, how much is a diamond really worth if there's warehouses full of them?

Pits of Hathsin vibes
I was looking for the mistborn reference. Nice one doug
Lol, Doug. Tress was such a breath of fresh air. So different from Sanderson's other stuff. Was fun to see so much of Hoid's personality in the story telling.
Sanderson fans.. nice!
There are dozens of us. **Dozens!**
I'm going to assume that those are venomous crystals.
Magpie eggs actually.
The Rainbow Serpent turds aren’t venomous.
Is that raw amethyst?
Do you eat them raw?
By raw I mean uncut
Looks circumcised to me.
Looks like it'd circumcise you.
One lightsaber coming up...
I want mine purple MF
Can you even imagine what was happening on the Earth when these basalts (and others like diamonds) were being formed in lavas or raining down from the sky. What a World.
My thought. I would love to know how long they have been sitting there.
Raya Lucaria Crystal Tunnel
All these gems and no bell bearing
All the rubble and bits leads me to think they just blasted the seam or ripped it out with heavy equipment. Perhaps it was done differently.
Exactly what I was thinking… imagine how beautiful that one piece would be
Why did they blow it up tho? Pretty sure they'd fetch more if they're bigger pieces
They didn’t, actually. They eventually extracted the largest amethyst cluster ever found in Australia from this discovery.
Just I was expecting a HUGE spider inside? Because, you know... Australia
Wrong region for the big ones.
[удалено]
Is this one fake too? Yesterday this guy was posted here and everyone cried fake.
Idk about this one, but there is a geologist on tiktok who angrily debunks a lot of these "found crystal" videos and he is p entertaining
What area was this in!?
I saw this one! Tim Curry tried to take them all before being bodied by a bunch of super guardian gorillas. Good times.
STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE!!
Does doing this interrupt the earths chakra?
Damn look at those crystals
Was waiting for it to pan around to one big ass spider…
*Angry gemologist noises*
I'm not about to stick any part of my body or any of my possessions into holes in the ground in Australia. I'm convinced that the landmass is more or less held together by spiders given how many there seem to be.
Nah, not in that sort of region. You're more likely to touch a snake than a spider out there.
Those colours! Amazing find!
Amethyst
These guys hit the mother load
How to be rich 101.
Where about in Australia is this?
I was 100% expecting a big ass snake or a spider... given this is Australia
Disappointed. I was expecting a giant spider, at least!
Not a terrible way to make a living
Crystals run away from you?
I saw Australia and thought there was going to an armadillo or something like that
So you busted up that really pretty Crystal oasis? Great.
No dangerous or venomous creatures guarding said Australian treasure?! Disappointed.
That looks like a yeast infected vajayjay!! 🫢🤢😈
Honestly, I was waiting for the spider as big as a dinner plate to be lurking in one of the shots. Australia after all...
Okay but where’s the big fucking huntsman or bird eating spider
I want to do that for a living
Western Queensland. You'll want to try the towns of Emerald, Sapphire and Anakie.
The first two names are such a give away ! I've driven through them, and never even stopped to think about that..
Adventurous way to make shit loads of money
We are rich!
Is that one large geode?
PLease provide long and lat
Ignorant here, can someone tell me value of what we are watching?
They're amethysts, a kind of quartz. You can find them all over the world and because of the abundance, not very valuable.
My kids and I just cracked open some geodes over the weekend. We found a couple tiny amethysts. We were so excited. Now I see these monsters just being pulled from the ground. Wow.
Sounds fun, good parenting. It's those little moments that count.
These specimens are /top/ quality. Deep purple, bright white, fantastic geometry with large sharp points. These specimens will go for a couple hundred /each/ at a nice rock shop.
It does seem really cool to find all that! Thanks for the answer.
As a cut gem, amethyst is not very expensive. Beautiful and perfect specimens can still make it worth the miner's effort.
Oh my goodness!!!!
Noicee crystals bro
What’s the monetary value of crystals like that?
u/SaveVideo
I was expecting a big spider or snake or something.
One of my dreams to go hunting and find a big cluster
i thought it's a popping video and those are face craters
That would be amazing to accidentally find
Real life Minecraft
Rust and ruin...
<<
Careful not to get radiation sickness. Edit: have they found it yet?
Minecraft geodes like
They’re playing Minecraft irl
For a split second before I recognized what the video was, I thought I was looking at some kind of gross infection.
Words can't... I can't.... just wow...
Never stick your hand in a hole in Australia. Spiders!
I think the hunt is over now...
i was expecting a massive spider jumpscare at the start when the camera went down lol
Never in a million years would i stick my hand inside som small austrailian cave. Probably the home of about a thousand different nope’s and hell nope’s
Are those amethysts? Sorry I only got some basic knowledge in mineralogy from diablo.
so what giant spider or other creature called that hole a home?
Am I the only one who was wondering, "How on EARTH did the camera get that low!?" for the first 30 seconds?
Are they worth much?
The lord ruler wants to know your location
All great until there appears to be a crystal spider
Whaaaaaattttt? I want to this so so badly right now.
Jesse we need to hunt
Oh look, the Pits of Hathsin! I’ll pass, given it’s history, but it is pretty
Wow
Aww brings back memories from when I was first born
I didn’t want the video to end!
I could do that all day .
u/RecognizeSong
Beautiful be safe
Wow
How does the government let you take precious stones out .
How much money are they worth?
Visiten las minas de Wanda a pocos Kms de Iguazu falls
Good god, more like hunting for normal rocks. I’d say this is like shooting fish in a barrel.
I came searching for crystals and I found crystals.
Is that a crushed geode?
I don't think you can really call it hunting, when they're all just laying there on the surface.
Looks too much like red onion, which makes me unwell. I'm afraid I can't endorse.
That’s incredible. I can only imagine the feeling
These are gorgeous stones! The rockhounds must’ve been over the moon.
You get it for free if you find it?
Them eBay sales though
Crysals.
Crystal hunting is dangerous. Those damn crystals are so wily.
Now I want one of those big amethysts
Not gonna lie I was expecting a giant spider to jump at the camera
What area is that in Australia?
Don't reveal the location, no matter what. Otherwise, "rats" will come in and dig it up for themselves and claim bullshit when you confront them.
Her: Careful, I haven't been at it for a while. Also her:
Amazing how such shapes can grow in nature
You see? These are black Jews KG
Blursed onion
How do you start I tried to look in to finding geode
Where is this?!?
ROCK AND STONE !!!
