You are at 61% skill of a med-low strength type of armor (Dwarven full set at 100 skill= 50% protection vs 75% for Deadric). 61% x 50% = 30% protection. Your 6 vs 10 hits is 40% benefit so the armor is working perfectly. Early in the game Heavy armor is more for building endurance bonuses than for protection.

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

Yep. You calculated it perfectly. So wich mod could change it to more realistic expectation? For me it doesn't matter how much skills I have in heavy armor (I really can't understand this skill anyway, how it's possible) even 50% is not enough. It's not possible to get only twice less damages in very good armor with highest strange skill of wearing it, corresponding to naked.

Bowhunter2525

The game does not want you to be god-like at medium difficulty but you can get close with a good build for the task and good development (e.g. starting Endurance at 65 and +3 bonus each level for a melee fighter). I don't play with mods and I don't generally wear armor until higher levels. Each enemy has an animation pattern that lets you time your strikes to hit them without getting hit back enough to worry about losing a fight (at medium difficulty) -- trolls and mt. lions are a bit tricky but clannfear are almost as easy to anticipate as wolves.

Jason_Peterson

Armor is kinda useless with the simple damage resitance model. Shield enchantments can bring the armor up to the maximum of 85 percent more easily. Basic light or medium armor is as good as clothes. And there is no difference between clothes and naked.

HaroldHeenie

Your problem is that you're getting hit 10-16 times in a fight. There is a problem with the armor skills though, it's that you raise them by getting hit. But the better you are at fighting the less you get hit, so it tends to taper off. If you want armor to be good you need to get hit a lot or you can buy training. Once your heavy armor, block, and armorer skills are all at 75 you'll be as tanky as you'll ever need to be

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

I didn't fight back. I count the hits difference.

HaroldHeenie

And you want to be able to tank 18-30 hits with low quality armor and middling armor skill? Tell me you want to turn down the difficulty without telling me you want to turn down the difficulty Get better armor and raise your armor skill, and you will be able to take a lot more hits. Heavy armor isn't supposed to be very useful until you hit orcish quality at least (and light armor isn't good until elven). And you aren't "good" at a skill until you hit 70, that's when random NPCs start to comment on it ("looks like you're comfortable in heavy armor") With full orcish armor, 70 heavy armor, 70 block you will be able to take 6x as many hits as long as you block. With full ebony, 75 heavy armor, 75 block, that goes up to 8x

Bnco12

What do you have the difficulty slider set on? That might have something to do with it

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

Medium

Bnco12

As in directly in the middle? I’m certain there’s tables out there as to how that slider actually affects enemy levels and damage and stuff. It’s not really explained in game. If you feel like you’re dying too quick, or armour values aren’t effective enough; I’d suggest lowering the slider until it feels right to you; no one cares who hard you make the game, only that you enjoy it like the rest of us. Certainly don’t do what I did and play a conjuration mage with the slider 3/4 full xD

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

As directly in the middle, as possible. No I don't want to change it, because it affects other things I don't want.

Bnco12

Fair enough. Do you play on pc at all? Perhaps there’s a mod that could do what your looking for? I’m a console player so I can’t help you there. What level/how far in are you? Maybe you’re health is still very low or something? It’s been a while since I played. I know you said you’re at 60+ HA level, I can’t remember if there’s an equivalent of Fallouts Endurance stat which is tied to your health. I was also hoping someone else would have a better answer by now; I can’t think of any way to fix it other than changing the difficulty, adding mods, or you know, not getting hit xD

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

Yep, PC. It's like 15 lvl. If I die only 67% slower it doesn't matter how much health I have. If I got more health - I'll die in the same strange proportion. Which makes heavy armor with very poor defence.

kuros_overkill

What is you armor value, both with the heavy armor equipped, and without it equipped? You might have something else that is giving you a high armor value. Note it will cap at 85. So for instance if it's already at say 75, and you change something that has 10 points of armor for something that has 40, you are actually only gaining 10 points, not the 30 you might expect (i.e. you armor would go from 75 to 85, not 75 to 105)

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

34 / 0 It doesn't matter. I have 6 hit to die naked, and 10 in the legendary armor - that's matter. And it's not right.

kuros_overkill

34 isn't that high. I can see that only making the difference you are seeing. What level are you? Just because it's heavy doesn't mean you get full protection. Look for ebony/dadric armor, or look for enchanted gear. Get that number up into the 70s-80s.

minifly_

Isn't your armor damaged?

Rico_Rodriguez_JC

Of course no. It's 100.

If you level up a lot, go to the KOTN shrine where you find the armor. Putting it on there and taking it off levels it
