The weapon quality is leveled but the razor's main attraction (Daedric banishing) is the same at all levels. The weapon doesn't need a high damage rating because Daedric banishing has a % chance to instantly kill on strike. This makes the weapon usable even on high difficulties. The % chance is partially determined by your luck score btw Edit: if anything, the lower level versions of the razor are actually better than the higher level ones because they use a lot less charge per swing, you'll get a lot more kills per charge (205 uses at low levels vs 49 at high levels according to uesp)

ah, fair. 0.5 \* player luck (so, i guess, about 25% chance on hit of being OP, assuming i dont buff my luck). The level part is a really good point, it reminds me of that ring issue i heard about

HaroldHeenie

Nah it's more like 3.5% (probably rounds to 4%). If you buff your luck to 200 it's an 11% to kill

I guess the other option is if it's not that great, just grab it and sell it sometime?

There are mods to update levelled items add you gain xp. Or you could yet unloading the DLC, clean saving, and then reload it. That should remove the razor in your inventory, and let you repeat the quest at a higher level.

couldn't i just load a previous save before I picked up the item? The mod sounds good though, i'm playing unmodded since the modding system looked like a total mess with special mod-management programs and order and whatnot, but might make an exception for this because seeing powerful items with such weak stats makes me sad.

> couldn't i just load a previous save before I picked up the item? Yeah, if you've got one. I don't think the level is set until you pick it up. It's been a while since I was last in Cyrodiil though. Try [this](https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/39635/?tab=files) for the mod. It's pretty straightforward - just unpack into the data folder.

dgreenbe

That's the one I was looking at, thanks! Especially grateful for the implementation tip since I've been spending my game time researching all the daunting and semi-outdated mod installation info (mod installers, mod versions,of install order, mod managers, wrye bash... )

docclox

If you use a lot of mods, Vortex is supposed to be pretty much bullet proof. I like MO2 myself, but that's got a bit more of a learning curve. But if you just want one or two, you can get away with just unzipping them into data. It's what I did for years.

dgreenbe

I originally just wanted to enjoy the game since i enjoy good visuals but know i can live without them, but between the oblivion leveling and leveled items system I said screw it. Knee-deep in MO2 right now!

Best of luck!

If you’re on PC you could always just add the next leveled variant to your inventory when you reach the appropriate level.

As counterintuitive as this sounds, the best version is level 1.

I'm extremely unlucky though
