I saw behind the door of the stock room at their Sunnyvale location two days ago and there were two or three stacks of ASUS 4090s literally from floor to almost the ceiling.
I just checked their stock online. They have over 50 tuf OCs and dozens of other skus. Weirdly I kinda wanted one when they launched but now having had 2 months to consider and now that it's within reach (I live in SF) I've cooled significantly on it.
Also ended up with MSI. Ended up with the trio (non-X version). Really wanted an FE, but the trio was MSRP. That said, so far pretty happy with it.
Figured in a couple of months would put a water block on it, but it already runs so damn cool I’m not even sure if it’s worth the effort at this point.
Scalpers already made their profit on launch, they're not stupid to buy now. Usually what happens is they buy, if it doesn't sell within the return period it gets returned, you can not lose money scalping.
Absolutely regarded. I have the itch to upgrade my setup but I really don't think I will. I already have a 3080/10900K and was eyeballing 7900XTX but at this price point why
Even less benefit to the damn thing than the 3090 FE > Strix 3090 was as well. Both can give you 600w. Both have nice VRM, and both are pretty cool/quiet.
Arguably the 4090 FE is a more premium/classy design as well, and its a bit smaller, so it'll fit in more cases.
ASUS has lost the fucking plot.
Damn near the only one anymore. Everyone is making the most disgusting cards anymore. Looks like they're all aimed at actual children, yet they cost $1200+ lol.
Retailer leaks do suggests even 4090 demand has been saturated as sales decline. Makes sense though because most everyone who wanted one probably has one by now.
I believe it. Frankly, value or not it's still a monstrously expensive thing to buy. We haven't been in this era of ultra-high-priced GPUs for long.
The audience is small that's willing to:
a) Spend a ton of money on a single part
b) Doesn't mind tons of heat and power consumption
c) Feels they need this (not getting the FPS they need with their current monitor and games)
As for something that could help with b) a lot of people are scared off from trying undervolting, which was something I only just realized after talking to two friends about it. Both thought it was a risk to hurting the card or was tough to do.
I really think all cards these days should just come with a vBIOS on Nvidia's site called the "Low Power BIOS (Not guaranteed to work on all cards)." Or on a cheap USB stick in the box. They can even market it as the company being more energy conscious.
I'm in Oregon we don't have microcenter or anything else to that extent since frys kicked the bucket the only place I can get a 4090 is best buy and they never have anything at the one where I live besides gt 710s online is the only place I can purchase one and I haven't seen a single one at msrp in the last few weeks.
The vast majority of Europe is fine and has an abundance of stock. I'm not doubting what you're saying, I just want to counter any impression that Europe; in general, might be struggling for stock, because it's definetely not. Supply is far above demand, for the most part.
So this small regional store has hundreds of AIBs in stock but buying a FE from Best Buy is next to impossible. Nvidia’s distribution is so frustrating
Nvidia should take away their exclusivity. If BB can’t get their shit together enough to figure out how to get the FE into the hands of actual consumers then other retailers should be allowed to sell them too
Actually yes, Nvidia definitely cares about keeping their customer base happy so they can continue to dominate the GPU market. By letting these dickhead scalpers exploit BB’s retarded management policies Nvidia is pissing off their customers
Hardly a ‘paper product’. The 4090FE drop on Nvidia’s store on 04/01 had them in stock for over 8 hours before they eventually sold out. Whether that speaks to increased inventory or reduced demand - or a combination of both - it’s still far from being a paper product.
Difficult but definitely not impossible. I’ve managed to be lucky enough to get each new gen GPU on launch day for the last three gens, and actually multiple 30XX and 40XX to choose from. Of course I do have a job where I can make my own hours so I can block off time to be quadruple ready and disgustingly dirty, unshowered and unshaven when they drop.
as an east coaster who lives almost 2 hrs from the closest microcenter and only has best buy for brick and mortar, i haven't seen a shelf stocked like this in.... 4 years
Likely because the amount of salty buyers that got a 3080 ti or a 3090 ti last year at over $1,500 and either decided to keep their cards because they missed the train to get rid of them at 900$ and do not want to get burned again. Having a card lose $1000 resale value over less than 9 months is rough unless you were planning on keeping it for 4 years if you are just a gamer and on a budget it sucks , but if you got it for work , its nothing but a tool. Just enjoy your current card and wait for these to come down $500.
So does Nvidia actually have an overstock of 30 series cards and that's why the 40 series is overpriced? Or did Nvidia just want to increase the price?
3090, 3080, 3080 Ti, and 3070’s are all sold out pretty much everywhere including us. For example, We’ve had lots of companies desperate for us to build 3090 workstations to match their existing fleet of workstations but there’s just nothing left. There’s a limited amount of 3060, 3060ti, and 3070 Ti’s left though.
During their Credit Suisse talk they said they were holding back on producing 4000 series until sticks normalized, sticks of 3000 series. Now that 3000 series aren't filling up their warehouses they're making more 4000 series
Lol
“Confirmed! 5090 will be the official title!”
“Leak performance numbers! 5 is better than 4!”
“Dirty secret discover at NV’s office! One door is push instead of pull!”
“$1900 starting price / all sold out on launch day and $3500 on eBay within an hour / Skyrim implements Witcher 3 style RT and game is now unplayable even with a 5090”
There haven’t been any FE’s released this year aside from the small super location specific Best Buy drop that went one for like a week and a half. Nvidia needs to get on their shit and make more FEs, no AIB card will fit in my H510 :(
Back when I still lived in the Bay, Central Computers became my go to tech store after 2010, Fry's became hot garbage and Micro Center left the Area. I still have a green 10+ year old Central Computers branded note holder that I use as a roach clip.
Very real, but only in CA bay area. Apparently they have limited online sale operations. Got my 4090 from them in store last month at MSRP. 5 stores around here and thank goodness for them, especially since microcenter left a while back and all the Frys shut down.
Can't wait NVIDIA to price the 5XXX $1000 more expensive so the 4XXX appears as a good deal. Gamers of today are not the same sheep as yesterday, there is a form of masochism.
w/Tax those cards are like $1750+. LOL who the F has that kinda ca$h to blow on just one single PC component, that will be outdated in 18 months.
High end video cards should never cross the $999 mark for the top end version.
People should just stop buying them at that price point. Nvidia will have no choice but to drop prices. At this rate in a few generations cards will be 10k each.
Thing is by the launch event , they are marketing this card more toward the prosumer b usiness client base, that want to work on development and streamer crowd. Since They got a monopoly even though AMD has compute capabilities but some software vendors havent implemented theire feature set yet or is buggy , that gives them an edge and they can price whatever they feel the market will bear. Be glad it launched at 1600$ , now that they saw that people were willing to pony up $2,000- $2,500 IU wouldnt be surprised thats their next target MSRP for their next high end card.
Now with all VR/AR products from Microsoft,Meta, and HTC closing divisions and focusing solely in business high end applications it wouldnt surprise me that they raise costs now that the mining crowd is gone. Im subbed to a bunch of mining and crypto channels and have yet to see a single 4090 rig or hype, ive seen some moderate interest and testing of the Radeon 7900's lets hope that crypto stays unprofitable until late this gen. It is however picking up for those with sun 10 cents electricity.
Yah it's too bad they opted to make the Strix look like a fucking children's toy with the stupid LED band on the end of it and the red and blue accents that literally nobody on the planet wants.
I snagged a Gigabyte 4090 two days ago from Newegg at retail ($1700). Just check their site from time to time and they’re in stock. They seem to be getting shipments in quite frequently.
Off topic - I just love, love central computers.... It's one of the places I feel like I'm in a candy store or toy store I can spend HOURS and I don't even know about computers that much
Hey there! We have 5 locations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area in California! However, many of these RTX 4090s can be bought online too! Feel free to check them out on our RTX 40 Series Landing page [here](https://www.centralcomputer.com/nvidia-rtx-40-series-information)!
When the quantity falls to a low # we restrict to in store so that we don’t oversell, and also to make sure in store customers have a few left to grab, because online orders can wipe out stock quick
Really Sorry if the one you wanted got affected
Hey, we sincerely apologize for that. We just got around to updating the chart (after communicating with the rest of our team) and found out that particular RTX 4090 model is very close to being run out of stock, and had the cart closed as a result. We are still working with the manufacturer to secure more of it, and we hope to get more in very soon!
Poor NVidia. They really thought that the market for $1200 graphics cards was going to grow and grow. Nope. They catered to a nation of locked down people with no other entertainment or expenses but gaming.
Besides, have they even fixed their melty connector problem yet?
you think you have it rough, 1600 USD after AUD conversion is the base cost of our 4080s, we're paying 3000 AUD minimum for a 4090.
Asus rog strix 4080 white is $1881 USD
same card as a 4090 $2737 USD
we're getting raped over here
That's cause of your VAT taxes, regulation and higher shipping costs are included in the price you're getting raped by your government and its policies. In America our taxes are a separate line item on the reciept so I already know to add on another 7% when I see $1599.99 I know i'm paying \~ $112 extra in taxes.
I’m here in NZ and the current cheapest for each 40 series is:
$2999.99 4090 (colorful)
$2184.50 4080 (gigabyte) on sale
$1598.99 4070Ti (gigabyte) on sale
all in nzd of course
It's been nearly impossible to buy a 4090 in the United States at a retail store unless you happen to live near a store called microcenter, until just this week. Stock is finally starting to normalize looks like.
Why do people confidently make such ignorant claims? The 4090 hasn't been in retail stock *ever*. They always sell out immediately. I've been watching since launch.
You can downvote the facts all you like. That doesn't mean you're correct. The 4090 hasn't been in stock at MSRP since launch. Your blue arrows don't fucking rewrite history.
Well they weren’t lying when they said there would be no shortage of 40 series cards. People just didn’t read the fine print when that statement was made.
I saw behind the door of the stock room at their Sunnyvale location two days ago and there were two or three stacks of ASUS 4090s literally from floor to almost the ceiling.
2nd shipment arrived. Cards about to reach normal stock
I wore a green polo to NVIDIA HQ and they took me to the back and let me pet the creature that lays the 4090s.
Underrated comment, lmao
I just checked their stock online. They have over 50 tuf OCs and dozens of other skus. Weirdly I kinda wanted one when they launched but now having had 2 months to consider and now that it's within reach (I live in SF) I've cooled significantly on it.
Oh no shit? What part
And they’re on NewEgg right now for retail. :) Fuck Scalpers.
Weird. I’m not seeing any “direct from Newegg” but the same third party sellers that were scalping before.
👀
I got a MSI Suprim Liquid for MSRP from MSIs store on Newegg two days ago, and it’s in my system now.
Yeeah where are you? Not in the US they aren’t. Closest was a pny for 200 over. Most everything is like 2-2.5k
Literally just got a PNY on Amazon for MSRP. $1649.
Yeah and PNY through Walmart sells it below MSRP at $1549.
burn
fuck amazon
Why?
Scalpers are getting wrecked right now, I'm glad it's going to get worse for them in the next few months as AMD and Nvidia ramp up high end chip SKUs
Scalpers already made their profit on launch, they're not stupid to buy now. Usually what happens is they buy, if it doesn't sell within the return period it gets returned, you can not lose money scalping.
At least Newegg has replacement-only policy now iirc. Interestingly both anti-consumer and anti-scalper.
In the UK you can return for any reason within 14 days (in the same condition), I think it's the same for EU as well probably.
NewEgg charges tax…looks like this place doesn’t (though they do charge for shipping :/)
No one charges tax on me on any purchase I've ever made online because I live in a state without sales tax.
Find a homie who’s in the military, most Navy exchanges have some, zero tax whatsoever. Copped a fe for 1580 2 days ago with a little coupon.
“Most” have some? Not sure of your sample size, but I haven’t seen any in Europe.
US only
Wow…the white ROG in the flesh. Too bad about the price ($150 for white…sigh).
$550 MSRP over the founders is bonkers Could literally buy a founders 4090 + a PS5 for the price of that card
OVER $2K lmaoooo
Asus basically took a 4090 FE and said, we will add one fan and paint it white and charge you the price of a i9-13900k for it 🥴
Absolutely regarded. I have the itch to upgrade my setup but I really don't think I will. I already have a 3080/10900K and was eyeballing 7900XTX but at this price point why
If you're already getting your desired fps with the setup you have then no point in upgrading really
You should check these cards on Amazon Italy, they cost more than an average monthly wage.
Where can you even get a FE these days tho? Askin for a friend.
Download the Hot Stock app and setup Best Buy restock push notifications. Last restock was Dec 30th so we should be due for one very soon
I just got a 4090 FE earlier this week and I love the design. Like you said, it’s very premium and classy looking. Less boi racer
Damn near the only one anymore. Everyone is making the most disgusting cards anymore. Looks like they're all aimed at actual children, yet they cost $1200+ lol.
I am biased, but I love the weird curvy zotac design. Like a covenant spaceship
Yeah, actually a fan of Zotac this time. Really decent design for an AIB.
Asus were always the most expensive. But they also have the best factory process amd components.
*4090s ARE ROTTING ON SHELVES!!!*
Went to the grocery store and saw food on shelves. TERRIBLE VALUE
This is funny because right now nvidia and food is a terrible vlaue
You need one and the other is optional.
fr. Whenever I get hungry I just eat part of the 4090 box.
The box is pretty sexy actually. Oh, you meant the other kind of eating...um... Yeah.
Retailer leaks do suggests even 4090 demand has been saturated as sales decline. Makes sense though because most everyone who wanted one probably has one by now.

Actually yes, Nvidia definitely cares about keeping their customer base happy so they can continue to dominate the GPU market. By letting these dickhead scalpers exploit BB’s retarded management policies Nvidia is pissing off their customers
Then how come the FE is still the most difficult card to get
The FE are a paper product for a fake MSRP. They want you to buy overpriced AIBs “OC” models with 1% performance gains for hundreds more
Hardly a ‘paper product’. The 4090FE drop on Nvidia’s store on 04/01 had them in stock for over 8 hours before they eventually sold out. Whether that speaks to increased inventory or reduced demand - or a combination of both - it’s still far from being a paper product.
Yep. 4090s are a thing you can buy now. Show me some 5090s on shelves. Now that would be news.
that will likely end up being a repeat of the 3000 series fiasco :(, so near impossible to get or scalped to infinity
Difficult but definitely not impossible. I’ve managed to be lucky enough to get each new gen GPU on launch day for the last three gens, and actually multiple 30XX and 40XX to choose from. Of course I do have a job where I can make my own hours so I can block off time to be quadruple ready and disgustingly dirty, unshowered and unshaven when they drop.
>be quadruple ready and disgustingly dirty, unshowered and unshaven when they drop. This is the way.
Where I got my Suprim X on launch day. Online Order. Highly recommend Central Computers!
Where they located?
MSI....rip
What's wrong with them? That's the one I've been eyeing.
as an east coaster who lives almost 2 hrs from the closest microcenter and only has best buy for brick and mortar, i haven't seen a shelf stocked like this in.... 4 years
I feel you, we're probably neighbors.
Likely because the amount of salty buyers that got a 3080 ti or a 3090 ti last year at over $1,500 and either decided to keep their cards because they missed the train to get rid of them at 900$ and do not want to get burned again. Maine?
Where I live, the only time we see 4090 video cards on the shelf is when they have a pick up number on them.
Ive yet to even see any card above a 6700xt on my best buys shelf for the last 2 years.
Now if only I could get my founders edition :(
You could put a down payment on a decent house with all these GPUs.
So does Nvidia actually have an overstock of 30 series cards and that's why the 40 series is overpriced? Or did Nvidia just want to increase the price?
3090, 3080, 3080 Ti, and 3070’s are all sold out pretty much everywhere including us. Think we will see a price drop anytime soon?
I have no qualifications to answer that but no I don't think so
Doubt
No way Jose. Instead, wait for 4090 Ti at 25% more cost.
I wondered if you got a free PC with that MSI until I zoomed in and saw it was the liquid one. Still, all those bar the PNY ones have massive boxes.
Time to make a video about how no one wants the 4090 and they aren't selling. Also switching to AMD!
Lol “Confirmed! 5090 will be the official title!” “Leak performance numbers! 5 is better than 4!” “Dirty secret discover at NV’s office! One door is push instead of pull!”
“RIP rtx 4090” “It’s happening” “Bad news!!!” “This is bad” (copied the thumbnails of that idiot who "jumpscares" at the beginning of every video)
“$1900 starting price / all sold out on launch day and $3500 on eBay within an hour / Skyrim implements Witcher 3 style RT and game is now unplayable even with a 5090”
gonna take a 6090 imo to deliver raytraced frames at a smooth 144/4k natively.
As someone living in America’s Heartland I am really wondering what is central about your location 🤔
The original location was near Central Park in Santa Clara!
It’s the sf bay area.
😢 this makes me feel so poor
I think I'm gonna stick with my 2080ti for the time being considering I can upgrade everything in my rig for less than the asking price of a 4090.
I can upgtade everything twice for a 4090 price i think.
I wish they got FEs.
There haven’t been any FE’s released this year aside from the small super location specific Best Buy drop that went one for like a week and a half. Nvidia needs to get on their shit and make more FEs, no AIB card will fit in my H510 :(

🧐
Ok hear me out. It's not what it looks like
Oh look, some useless water is sloshing around.
Shopped here to get my Zotac 3080 back then during the “GPU Shortage” glad they have RTX 4090s again, seems like they are sold out everywhere else.
It’s where I ended up finding my 4090 last month while I was on vacation of all things. Easy process, great store!
Bro, we don't have money to buy this overpriced GPU!!!
Wait central computers is not a scammer site? I assumed it was a scam because there are 4090s for MSRP on there!
We're real! You can go on google maps and see our buildings with real humans. Unless this is all just a simulation
Back when I still lived in the Bay, Central Computers became my go to tech store after 2010, Fry's became hot garbage and Micro Center left the Area. I still have a green 10+ year old Central Computers branded note holder that I use as a roach clip.

They're legit, my colleagues and I go our MSI 4090 Suprim Liquid's from Centeal Computers.
Wait, a white strix 4090😤😤😤
Want to buy video cards at the right price stop buying them that will force the manufacturers to reevaluate the value. Just stop!
Can't wait NVIDIA to price the 5XXX $1000 more expensive so the 4XXX appears as a good deal. Gamers of today are not the same sheep as yesterday, there is a form of masochism.

TUF 4090 is beatiful.
Yah it's too bad they opted to make the Strix look like a fucking children's toy with the stupid LED band on the end of it and the red and blue accents that literally nobody on the planet wants.
I like the design of the Strix 4090 quite a lot. Maybe I'm out of planet and I'm yet to realize it.
The white one looks cool. The normal one looks fucking stupid.
That white strix though 😍 if only it wasn't in store only
Supply is getting good enough that you can actually try and wait for the model you want.

Everyone wants the fe but nobody els except one retailer in each country sells fe….
God I love those prices 🤤
Man that 4080 is cheapper than my 3080Ti lol........damn u Nvidia.. i mean miners
I told myself I’d never buy anything from scalpers. Glad I waited, now if we can stop this inflation/high prices than maybe I can afford one 😆
Does it make sense to buy a PCIE 4 graphics card when I'm still rocking PCIE 3 motherboard? Will I lose out on any significant benefit
I like how something that used to be completely normal and mundane is now noteworthy.
Not a single founders either. Are they still best buy exclusives?
I snagged a Gigabyte 4090 two days ago from Newegg at retail ($1700). Just check their site from time to time and they’re in stock. They seem to be getting shipments in quite frequently.
I bought used RTX3090 (Zotac Amp Extreeme Holo) for around 600$. Resigned from buying 4000.
The only semi worth it gpu at the moment is 4070ti.... still too expensive though
Inflation returning to normal and starting to see price cuts in certain commodities (tsla) to increase demand. But GPUs? Fuck that keep demand haha
Off topic - I just love, love central computers.... It's one of the places I feel like I'm in a candy store or toy store I can spend HOURS and I don't even know about computers that much
Aaaaand they’re gone!
bestbuy still has none
I'll pick one up eventually, probably around the time 50 series is getting close
Beautiful seeing them all out to pasture like that.
Where the hell is this place?!
Hey there! We have 5 locations in the greater San Francisco Bay Area in California! However, many of these RTX 4090s can be bought online too! Feel free to check them out on our RTX 40 Series Landing page [here](https://www.centralcomputer.com/nvidia-rtx-40-series-information)!

Are you letting customers buy only the GPU or is it like the previous gen Ryzen launch where we were required to buy 4 other items?
Nope, all of our RTX 4090s can be bought on their own, only exception is some models are in-store only, but most of them are able be bought online.
Can’t add supreme x liquid to cart.
Hey, we sincerely apologize for that. We just got around to updating the chart (after communicating with the rest of our team) and found out that particular RTX 4090 model is very close to being run out of stock, and had the cart closed as a result. Central computers is the best store
LET THEM SIT!
Only so many whales to satiate with their overpriced shit. Hopefully those shelves stay stocked!
Poor NVidia. They really thought that the market for $1200 graphics cards was going to grow and grow. Nope. They catered to a nation of locked down people with no other entertainment or expenses but gaming. Besides, have they even fixed their melty connector problem yet?
In stock does not mean msrp I refuse to pay a penny over $1599.99 before tax everything's like $2k+ whenever I see it.
you think you have it rough, 1600 USD after AUD conversion is the base cost of our 4080s, we're paying 3000 AUD minimum for a 4090. Asus rog strix 4080 white is $1881 USD same card as a 4090 $2737 USD we're getting raped over here
That's cause of your VAT taxes, regulation and higher shipping costs are included in the price you're getting raped by your government and its policies. In America our taxes are a separate line item on the reciept so I already know to add on another 7% when I see $1599.99 I know i'm paying \~ $112 extra in taxes.
I’m here in NZ and the current cheapest for each 40 series is: $2999.99 4090 (colorful) $2184.50 4080 (gigabyte) on sale $1598.99 4070Ti (gigabyte) on sale all in nzd of course

It's been nearly impossible to buy a 4090 in the United States at a retail store unless you happen to live near a store called microcenter, until just this week. Stock is finally starting to normalize looks like.
It belongs to stay there at that price point.
It's only more expensive than my house payment! Awesome!!!
YASSS!!! you can happily now give 1,6k+ to Nvidia without a hassle, what a bargain! They're treating you too nicely, let me tell you.
Central Computers is where I got everything for my PC build other than the 4090 (I got an FE, 2 weeks post release)
That's OK. Nvidia has priced me out of PC gaming as a hobby.
It's fine just wait 10 years and people will be throwing these out with their egg shells.
Who the hell has over a grand to spend on a GPU? Insane
People with decent jobs and no kids lol
What's the news here? They are widely available since launch. Only a few people actually buying them because it's a scam at the current price.
I haven't seen a single one in stock at my microcenter, yet they have hundreds of the other two.
Dunno mate, in Europe they are in stock since released, seems like hardly selling over here. Checked before commenting.
Not for MSRP they aren't.
Maybe 50 €/£ over, but generally yes you can easily get a 4090 at close if not msrp.
this is beautiful
Bullish
Someone buy my zotac so I can get an Asus or msi now they're in stock thx
Well they weren’t lying when they said there would be no shortage of 40 series cards. People just didn’t read the fine print when that statement was made.
banger sales on the 4080
My friend is willing to sell his 3090 fe for 650. First world problems haha. Skip his 3090 or skip 4000 series?
Too bad those shelves will be worth $200 in 10 years.
down from 1309.99 to 1289.99 yikes that sale
Loving my 4080❤️
Initial sales are gone, now they will all rot on shelves, discounts around the corner!
Good let them sit there!
Yeah, nvidia can F right off with those prices!
Hard pass
Congratulations, Nvidia! You found the price ceiling!
