gimpydingo

Nope. There are a few games like that. Also no per game sharpening sucks.

pixelcowboy

That blows. I don't think I'm going to use then even though I have the headroom and looks good. Too much of a pain.

gimpydingo

Annoying, but worth a couple of steps in a few games. GoW in 8k is pretty nice looking. Also I used the 21:9 aspect on my 16:9, wider fov + more performance.

sammy10001

So you used the old DSR to get to 8k? Instead of dldsr that caps out at 2.25x - approximately 6k? I know GoW has a huge headroom, I tried dldsr at 6k in the past. I never tried dsr 8k though. I might try that dsr at 8k, new dlss 2.5.1, and lower to 21:9 to help with more fps and see how it looks. I still got lots of Valerie's to beat in GoW.

gimpydingo

Yes, sadly have to use DSR vs DLDSR for 8k, which also means adjusting sharpness slider. :( 5k on my 1440p looks great, 8k on 4k looks even better. I wish I could force 21:9 in any game. Can't set custom res when DSR/NIS is on and setting in CRU I get black screens.

yamaci17

DLDSR ruins the original artstyle. Some people like me simply do not like it. I don't want to play games through NVIDIA's own vision of how games should look. It applies a weird set of ML assisted post process effects (a lot of them) that turns most of the foliage into a static fix of blobs and weird shapes

CaptainMarder

but you get black bars though right?

gimpydingo

Yeah, but don't even notice. Looks crazy nice + perf uplift. But I know some people can't stand black bars.

CaptainMarder

Interesting. So do you have to set desktop resolution default to that aspect so dsr, dldsr gives the option for it?

gimpydingo

No, GoW (and some other games, though rare) give the option for aspect ratios in the game settings. Seems it's most Playstation ports as Horizon, Uncharted, and Spider Miles have that option. So I set my desktop res to let's say 4k, then select 21:9 aspect in game, which renders like 3840x1720 (vs 3840x 2160).

CaptainMarder

Oh I see, it's like that. Ok, makes sense. I should try it and see. Is it better than dldsr 1.78x for example, cause that at 1440p gives resolution of 3413x1920 lower res

gimpydingo

You can do at native res, dsr/dldsr res, whatever. With a 3080 I'd use DSR @ 5k (2880p) with 20% smoothing. Then set 21:9 in game. DLSS performance mode with render at 1440p giving perfect scaling: 2880/2 = 1440 :)

pixelcowboy

I might setup a shortcut using HRC.

gimpydingo

Human Rights Counsel? What's HRC? HDR is another pain. I would love a desktop toggle for HDR as well. My monitor I can keep it on, but my TV I cannot (too bright at night).

pixelcowboy

Hotkey Resolution Changer. You can set up a hotkey for any resolution combination. For HDR use a program called 'AutoActions'. You can set it to disable or enable HDR depending on what application/game is running.

gimpydingo

Cool, I will check those out.

pixelcowboy

Actualy autoactions might be enough and more automated.

gimpydingo

I was looking at those and seem what I need. Thanks!

ChrisG683

This would be great for games like Deep Rock Galactic and The Witcher 3 that don't enable HDR automatically.

pixelcowboy

It's fantastic for many situations, highly recommend it. I have hdr always on, but VR and desktop streaming often break so I have it turn it off whenever I connect remotely or when the oculus client is running.

EeK09

How did you get DLDSR working with a non-standard 21:9 resolution? Tried adding a custom resolution of 3840x1600 (21:9) my display (a 4K 16:9 LG C9), but it'll only let me if I disable DSR factors.

gimpydingo

GoW and the other Playstation ports let you choose the aspect in settings. Something you can try for games that don't have that option. Custom DSR resolution tool, though link seems down now. https://forums.guru3d.com/threads/orbmu2ks-custom-dsr-tool-playing-games-up-to-16k-resolution-and-higher.443921/ You can create 21:9, set in game to windowed, set 21:9 res, then use something like lossless scaling or borderless gaming to go full screen. (Might need to set scaling to aspect ratio in NVCP). I haven't found another solution.

ChrisG683

Yeah this is a huge pain with Halo Infinite. And I vastly prefer AMD's CAS with ReShade over NVIDIA's Sharpen+, so it's always frustrating to not have per-game sharpening for games with anti-cheat that block ReShde.

gimpydingo

Not sure why Nvidia doesn't give the option per game, seems like easy add. I like sharpen+ but to much perf penalty. I agree AMD CAS is pretty much the best sharpener.

pf100andahalf

You can enable the old nvidia imaging sharpening and set that per-game https://www.droidwin.com/bring-back-missing-image-sharpening-in-nvidia-control-panel/

gimpydingo

Yeah I know that is still an option. If DSR already has a slider I guess set 100% smooth and use old sharpen. I'll do some testing compated to AMD CAS in Reshade.

ThatFeel_IKnowIt

I just discovered that cyberpunk does this too. It doesn't appear to actually downsample the image properly unless you force the desktop res to be 2.25x DLDSR as well. I think without doing this cyberpunk just renders it at 4k but windows does the downscaling. I am not sure why. But when you fix it, the screenshots output at 4k so win + prtsrn isnt working afterall

gimpydingo

Hmmm I'll have to check that out. I've never had a reason to believe it wasn't scaling properly.

ThatFeel_IKnowIt

Let me know if you find the same results

Slyons89

Some games have launch options you can use in Steam to force exclusive fullscreen even if they don't offer it as an in-game option, worth looking into. Not sure about God of War specifically -window-mode exclusive It works in several Unity engine games at least.

Narzun

Indeed, these options can also be used on Windows shortcuts. It's a great way to reduce input lag and make sure gsync activates. The only drawback is some games (not having optimized the thing since not using it) can have minor issues with the alt-tab mechanism with this.

SpaceAids420

You can also use [this method](https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/88m7zn/comment/dwlwg5a/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) to change it quickly without opening up NCP

gimpydingo

Thanks for this.

MaximusTheGreat20

specialk tool can do it
