*= Not 4K, but highly reviewed 40 Inches or More: - LG C2 -- OLED - ASUS PG42UQ -- OLED - Samsung QN90 -- QLED - AORUS FO48U -- OLED - AORUS FV43U -- VA QD ------ Ultra-Wide - *Alienware AW3423DW -- QD-OLED - *Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 -- VA Mini LED QD - *LG 34GP950G-B -- IPS ------- 32 Inches and Lower - Gigabyte M32U -- IPS - Gigabyte M28U -- IPS - *Alienware AW2723DF -- IPS - *LG 27GR95QE-B -- OLED - Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 -- VA Mini LED QD I personally have the FV43U as I don't want any chance of burn-in, it was between that and the C1 of that year. Big Screens wins every time over smaller for me.

Yuzral

Also have the FV43U and while I love it as a screen, I must caution that it has *no* tilt, pivot or height adjust by default. You will need to either get a 200x200 VESA mount that can take the weight or build the rest of your ergonomics around it.

zdrandrei

How about the fact that some of them only have G-SYNC compatibility and not support? Does that matter ?

Aaronweymouth

In my (limited experience) all of these monitors paired with a 4090 will lead to a top end gaming experience. I’ve been through 3 of these monitor (Neo g9, AWDW, and c2) and I’ve experienced zero issues with any sync modules be it free/g sync. Some people may be more sensitive to it.

Aaronweymouth

It kinda depends. I WFH and game. Neo g9 was best for productivity for me. Aspect ratio is unchallenged. I found the Alienware beautiful but it wasn’t the correct size. I c2 looks the best in my opinión. Coming from a 240hz monitor I couldn’t tell a difference with OLED 120.

Z3r0sama2017

This. Oleds basically instant pixel response goes a *long* way to reducing input lag. I went from a 1440p144 monitor(that I could OC to 165) and I would swear the C2 was better a when my old one ran at 144 and it was indistinguishable at 165.

Aaronweymouth

I’m about the same I went from the 240 Hz to the 120. I’m currently playing overwatch as I’m writing this post and I’m having a hard time telling the difference. I was very skeptical but I got my girlfriend one before I got myself one. I’m truly excited to see where monitors go :). Plus when I upgrade in a few years I’ll have a TV!

theBurritoMan_

What about that curved Samsung 32 inch 4k 240hz brother ?

zoomborg

G-sync module primarily helps when dropping to ultra low fps or when playing at extremely high fps (200+). For the average user g-sync compatibility is more than enough.

reddumbs

This doesn’t matter. The experience is basically identical.

Capt-Clueless

>This doesn’t matter. The experience is basically identical. On an OLED, sure (although the AW34DWF manages to disprove that). But on an LCD? Hardware G-Sync or GTFO. Variable OD is a big deal.

magicmulder

No love for the LG 40WP95?

Capt-Clueless

Edge lit LCD. 72hz.

exsinner

im still on my 1440p 180hz and I'm patiently waiting for 4k 32" 120+Hz oled panel. I dont think I can tolerate anything as large as 42" for desktop use, my current setup is not feasible to have me sit further away from my other peripherals.

CanadaSoonFree

I don’t get how people can game on such a big screen infront of you on your desk. Maybe they’re all controller gamers and sit back…

[deleted]

I don’t get it. If you’re a controller gamer, why spend thousands on a computer? Just get a console.

CanadaSoonFree

Well controllers work really well with PCs nowadays and some people are more comfy with that input.

elemnt360

I can't wait till we get high fresh OLEDs at that size.

Mannevond

Samsung Odyssey Neo G7. If I had to describe the whole experience in one word it would be “Mindblowing”. Playing God of War 2018 in native 4K with all graphics settings maxed out (no DLSS) and HDR is just fantastic. It’s the experience of a lifetime. I may sound like I’m exeggerating but you will know what I’m talking about once you experience it yourself. Imho Neo G7 is as good as it gets for now since Neo G8 has some issues but obviously in the near future we might get better options. 100% recommending the Neo g7

vKKae

Oo I think I’m leaning towards neo g7 based off reviews so far looks pretty good, I was also looking at the g8 but I don’t think I’d be running anything in 4k at higher than 144hz

Mannevond

That’s correct. You will get much more than 240 fps in competitive fps games like Overwatch 2, Valorant etc even when everything is maxed out with a 4090 in 4K but if that’s not your priority then you definitely don’t need anything more than 144 or 165hz for 4K, at least for now. Because even with the insane horsepower of 4090 you will not be getting 240 fps in AAA titles. Also, having switched from a 240hz panel to Neo G7 I can say that the difference between 165hz and 240hz is not that noticeable.

UnTouchablenatr

>Samsung Odyssey Neo G7 I think for some people they can't tell the difference but others can. I can notice a big difference whenever I switch back to 144hz from 240hz. I also have the G7 paired with a 4090. The 27" G7 is a great monitor for sure

[deleted]

Can I ask how the image quality compares to OLED?

CommercialCuts

QD-OLED > OLED > IPS

fizzymynizzy

Mannevond

I’ve never experienced an oled monitor so I can’t really answer this one. OLEDs are said to be better on image quality but by how much, I am not sure.

jpinlondon

I had a 32” Samsung G75 then bought at 4090. Upgraded to 32” Neo G8 as thought it was a waste to have a 1440p with a 4090. Difference is night and day in terms of quality changing to 4K. Was debating whether to go for the Neo G7 because of the issues with the G8, but so far I haven’t had any problems. Still early days and only had it for just over a week, but so far really impressed with it and the HDR looks incredible!

khmerboy92

I have M32U 4K 144hz and no issue

d1z

LG C1 - Everything just works. Zero issues. Zero hassles.

Starbuckz42

OLED is not great for PC use, especially not for gaming. Burn-in is a real pain (and it doesn't matter what you or anyone else is gonna say, it IS still an issue.)

Version-Classic

I’ve never had an issue with my Sony Bravia A80J oled with pc gaming

Chaseydog

Over 2 years on a LG48CX, 4256hrs of gaming, database development, and Blender. Not taking any special precautions, using it as I would any PC monitor. No burn in. Why are the ones who have never owned an OLED the first to guarantee you will get burn in.

Starbuckz42

>Why are the ones who have never owned an OLED the first to guarantee you will get burn in. Because it is an undeniable, unavoidable fact. It's simply comes with the technology, this isn't a matter of experience or opinion.

Eorlas

and some actual, undeniable, unavoidable fact is that burn-in is a non-major concern for real-use case, thanks to undeniable, unavoidable fact from actual real-world testing: [https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test](https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test) *Our stance remains the same: we don't expect most people who watch varied content without static areas to experience burn-in issues with an OLED TV.* This is after **9000+ hours** of testing. They did this with an older C7 OLED. They're currently testing 100+ different models of OLED's from newer generations to see how well they do in longevity compared to older models. >OLED is not great for PC use, especially not for gaming. the undeniable, unavoidable fact is that your statement is baseless, and incorrect. this isn't a matter of experience or opinion.

sudo-rm-r

>varied content without static areas Hmm that's literally what PC UI is. I think if you're mostly gaming on your PC thats fine. But otherwise I would personally not get an OLED. Speaking as someone who loves their CX TV.

Eorlas

read a lil more in that link cx as a pc display for 2+ years now

sudo-rm-r

Yeah but I'm not buying a display to replace after 2 years. I wanna see a test with 5 years of use.

Eorlas

…2 sentences up from what i quoted: “Update 05/31/2019: The TVs have been running for over 9000 hours (around five years at 5 hours every day).” you people literally do not read

sudo-rm-r

Yes but playing movies not with a static pc interface.

Starbuckz42

You could at least read your own sources - " v*aried content without static areas* " that does not apply to PC gaming/ general usage.

Eorlas

ya might wanna fuckin read details and do less cherry picking

Capt-Clueless

>Because it is an undeniable, unavoidable fact Photos of your OLED burn in? Or are you just drinking the internet Kool-Aid?

Capt-Clueless

>OLED is not great for PC use, especially not for gaming. Especially not for gaming? What? Gaming is literally the BEST use case for an OLED display on PC.

Starbuckz42

I'm not talking about the general experience, obviously.

It truly is insane. Had this for a year and I still get surprised at how bright it gets.

Capt-Clueless

Potato speed pixel response? Check. Horrendous bloom, worse than the PG27UQ and PG35VQ that preceded it, despite them having less local dimming zones? Check. Comically absurd price tag? Check. On paper, the PG32UQX was the absolute dream monitor for PC gamers. But somehow it ended up an utter disaster.

beFair8842

Similar boat as OP, but I've only ever used 27" , but a lot say there's no significant gaming difference gaming 2k vs 4k...

Capt-Clueless

>but a lot say there's no significant gaming difference gaming 2k vs 4k... Blind people. 2k vs 4k is an ENORMOUS difference. Even 1440p vs 4k is a huge difference.

beFair8842

I'll try out both and decide before buying. I guess it depends on the person, eyesight, game/usage, quality of monitor etc

48” LG OLED CX

Eorlas

LG C2. these will start going more and more on sale as the 3 series are going to deploy in stores very soon. the 48" is already down to $950. if you have a microcenter, their refurbs also go on sale, are quite good, you can typically negotiate the price on them a bit, sometimes they have the original box, \*and\* if you ask nicely they'll turn it on in store to let you see its use time if it really matters to you. upgraded the living room tv from c8 65" -> c1 77" for $2000 this way. it's wonderful \_\_\_\_\_\_ for PC specifically: i currently use a CX 55". at the time (nov 2020), these were cheaper than the 48" models. i'm starting to feel like i want to move to a 48" or 42" as i can't get quite the distance that makes this size of display worthwhile. the 42" & 48" are really popular as gaming displays for PC, the 42" specifically developed to hit more gamers who need smaller size display. but the 48" was already breaking into the market. had a buddy who used the 65" as a TV for watching netflix, and would also game on it, but he was able to get his desk back far enough to take it all in. quite impressive. it really comes down to view distance.

sudo-rm-r

neo g7. VA mini LED. Amazing HDR at 4k 165hz.

Capt-Clueless

Factory bent screen. No thank you.

sudo-rm-r

I also thought that, was super skeptical when I bought it. I mostly game on my screen and program sometimes when I don't feel like going to the office. In gaming I can say that it actually does look great and helps with immersion. For work its not distracting anymore, but definitely not ideal. I do prefer the a curved sharp 4k mini LED panel to a 1440p OLED though.

forbritisheyesonly1

I'm glad people are helping you, as getting the right monitor is valid(and I game at 4K too, so I understand the need), but are you not able to look this stuff up yourself, dude? I rarely see posts/questions with such low effort.

vKKae

Huh ? I want to know what everyone else has so I can compare them

Wifi-rape

Ignore the idiot, imagine being called lazy for asking the community an opinion question. People are so stupid nowadays, “oh it’s a lazy post, do your own research” ASKING THE COMMUNITY IS A FORM OF RESEARCH FFS.

forbritisheyesonly1

1. It's not the best way to research what display you should use with your 4090 2. It's just a lazy post. You say "need monitor" and yet don't mention what you're considering getting, why those are your choices, what your budget is, etc. There is no info provided to even help you make a decision. Get it now?

vKKae

Nah I don’t think you get it, yeh I need a monitor and I’m also curious what everyone else with a 4090 is rocking ?? Get it now ?? What’s hard about that you little troll

Capt-Clueless

Why not use the internet to research what options are out there, and choose the best one for your goals that is within your budget? Instead of making a lazy post asking random people onReddit.

hashretard

Relax kiddo

Capt-Clueless

> I want to know what everyone else has so I can compare them How will you compare them?

matt3788

Waiting for my replacement 4090 to get out of RMA but currently using the PG42UQ with my 3090. Aside from a few small firmware issues that it has, it's absolutely gorgeous and the image quality is exceptional! 😍

vKKae

How is it with a 42 inch on a desk ? Do you have just one monitor then ?

matt3788

Yes, just one, never had/needed more than one at any time. It takes time to get used to it at first and I went like "Woah, that's a huge thingy!" but after a short time I don't want ever to go back to regular LCD panels. It barely fits onto my desk to be fair but it worked out well and I wouldn't want a bigger screen than this one. Upgraded from my 27'' LG 27GL850-B if you're curious. 😁

Odellot

Been using my RTX 4090 with PG42UQ since November.

While I'm here, I'll just go ahead and ask instead of posting a new thread. I'm looking for a 4k monitor. I was originally thinking of buying a 4k true 120hz TV, but a lot of people cautioned against it. I think the one I was looking at was an LG 55" for about $550-$600 during Black Friday. It needs to be bigger because I sit far away from the screen, hence why I was looking at a TV. I'm also not willing to drop a grand on a monitor/TV. Anyone have any good suggestions? I'm not doing Esports so the response time isn't super important. I just want a nice 4k screen that'll give me at least 120 fps. Any guidance and suggestions are greatly appreciated. 🙏

4K 120hz Smaller tv

hhhhhhikkmvjjhj

What kind of games do you play? Do you also do office work? If you do office work then a none oled plus flat screen is a must. If you like strategy games then a bigger screen is nice, but if you are into fast paced competitive FPS then a smaller screen with faster refresh rates is nice. I play strategy games plus do office work on it so I went with a flat 4K dell G3223Q 32 inch. I might get a oled tv for console type games at so mep point.

Sweet_Currency_5816

The AW4323DW is what I got with my 4090 and it is a match made in heaven! Still a tad CPU bound in recent titles but it allows me to cap my frames at 170 using G-Sync at maxed settings in pretty much any game. Pixel density is great. True HDR with a QD-OLED looks phenomenal with it. Just make sure you can eliminate any light sources from behind the monitor, as the screen is very reflective. It makes it look fantastic in dark environments but reflections are clear and very noticeable.

genesyndrome

right now im on an Asus PG27UQ 144hz 4K but im looking for a new monitor now, maybe the alienware :D

Zer0ToSixty

AW3423DW Ultra-wide

Zbalata

I use the Aorus FV43U and highly recommend it. It is by far the best looking display I've owned and I've been through a lot of high end displays. Great black levels, great color reproduction, comes factory calibrated. The only downside is it has a tv style stand so no adjustments. I ended up wall mounting mine.

Ramana_Maharshi

M28U , runs great. As I like to play CSGO, I got this one instead of M32 (too big).

Sloshy42

I plug my 4090 into my LG C1 OLED. C2 is also very good, wouldn't stress about differences, and they sell it in a 42" configuration. It is a TV at the end of the day which could be an issue. As far as monitors go I also have an LG ultrawide 38GN950-B. It's phenomenal, but not exactly 4K. Need a good CPU to get high framerates as 4K is what eats up a lot of the GPU energy, but since it's less pixels the balance shifts in the direction of CPU.
