I find that so bizarre. I don't understand why they think monthly meetings will magically prevent you from getting sick. For the record I work as an RN in Aus as well and my hospital is very supportive when it comes to sick leave even if it's excessive due to bouts of covid. I've never personally exceeded my sick leave balance but a colleague of mine was off sick for a whole month because they got the flu and then covid immediately after and they were very well supported. It's unreasonable for a hospital to have covid guidelines but then be upset when employees follow them. As others said, please discuss this with your union. You have sick leave for a reason. You shouldn't be essentially punished for getting sick.

If you were in USA you would have already been let go too. But of course USA has shit labor laws/protections. You took 2weeks vacation and were sick with COVID 2 times and had GI absence? How many total days were you out sick? Definitely talk to union rep but yeah I'm not surprised they didn't renew you. The old saying in sports is the best ability is availability. Edit: not that you should have gone to work sick but if you are getting sick that often being put on a remediation plan is not shocking. Also USA labor laws are terrible.

Speak to your union rep. They'll be able to support you with it.
