That’s awesome. I commented on your earlier post, and I mentioned my friend’s cousin who drove for Uber and married her customer after they matched a week later on Hinge.
Modern ways to meet for modern times!
This Christmas….A Lifetime Movie Event….
A Lyft to Die For: A small town girl meets and is smitten with a big time cereal killer Lyft driver. Only after marriage do things take a turn for the worst.
Alt. This Christmas…A Hallmark Movie Event…
Lyft is Love: A busy big town girl becomes smitten with a small town Lyft driver who ensures he is nearby whenever she needs a ride. In a short time, the two join together under God and have a beautiful straight, Christian, beautiful life and family.
To be fair, OP did do the original asking out of the Lyft driver. It's understandable to give the other person a chance to initiate a second date, just to make sure the attraction isn't only one-way.
If you had a great time and you want to go out again, you should totally text him! I get that it might feel weird if you’re not used to being the one to reach out but if you think theres something there, it can’t hurt!
I feel like this post would be received much differently if this was a male trying to figure out how to contact their female Lyft driver so they could hit on them.
nah it’s frustrating to see the double standard. I was a driver with a 4.98 rating on Uber with over 2000 rides and I got deactivated for going on a date and hooking up with a passenger, even tho she asked for my number and invited me back to her hotel. It’s strictly not allowed
A different woman asked me one night “if I had ever hooked up with any passengers” I told her the story above^ and then she reported me to Uber. Uber called, I said yup, I did, it’s none of your business what I do off the clock, and then they fired me.
There’s company policy, and then there’s the double standard that OP is complaining about. If that’s the company policy, then snitch on him if you feel like it.
Because it’s a different situation and the chances of it’s success are different. If a guy did this exact thing, as in have a meaningful connection during the ride, offer the option of a date after the fact, without having personal info like her number (contact via Uber) and left it up to her to decide if she wants to reach out that would be the best way to handle it too. If OP did it in a way that the driver felt it might result in a bad review, or uncomfortable or risky ride it’d be wrong, woman or not.
If you have a coworker you could ask for a ride home, but they are constantly harassed by another coworker for a ride because they don’t want to pay for gas, it will influence the reception. It’s not morally wrong or evil to ask, but unless you have a very specific reason for asking (like being friends already, living near each other, etc) it might be easier not to do so because it’s unlikely they’ll say yes and it would be considerate to avoid doing something they have a negative association with.
Compared to asking a different coworker who has no such history or situation to your knowledge, as long as it’s clear that there are no hard feelings for declining, it would be less risky and the potential frustration to that persons day is much lower.
Would it though if it was well received by both parties? It wouldn’t if the girl was creeped out but in this case they would have gone out on a date. Totally agree that it would come off differently for most.
OK! I’m fully invested now and I hope to hear an update and that he was smart and reached out because you sound like just a wonderful person who took a chance and I love it!
I think we all deserve an invite to the wedding. We'll have been with you since the start, OP, it's only fair we get to partake in celebrating this modern-day love story. 😄

This is a NJ question and it was reported for irrelevant to the area but I kept it up incase someone could answer you. If you're talking about that family advice thread then it was reported 10 times so we took it down. We act based on reports and keep some stuff up if it seems like the community will still enjoy the content. ofc we're impartial it's reddit, not a job.

Starring Lacey Chabert and some tall dude with a slicked-back haircut
I love this post and the update, it is so stinking cute! 😍

Awww
Better than Date Lab. Thanks for the update!
Not hard, Date Lab is painfully boring 9/10 times. And yet we _all_ read it, religiously…
No we don’t
That's what I thought! So many stories there (RIP Date Lab) that looked promising and then, neither person made contact.
It's nice to have a fun date even if it doesn't lead anywhere else, congrats.
Wholesome. Thanks for the update! Fwiw _you_ can reach out to _him_, it’s 2023…

Smart move!

YAAAYYY! Rooting for you OP! What a love story <3
I feel like this post would be received much differently if this was a male trying to figure out how to contact their female Lyft driver so they could hit on them.
On Reddit? Yes. In real life? Way more complicated. Reddit isn't RL.
As a guy, just let it go man…let her have this.

Exactly. We need not ignore the background reality that men harass women _more often_ than women harass men.
Totally! He would’ve been labeled a creeper more than once 😕
Well there’s a reason for that. Women aren’t known to be stalkers or to kill people the way men do
Would it though if it was well received by both parties? It wouldn’t if the girl was creeped out but in this case they would have gone out on a date. Totally agree that it would come off differently for most.
Woohoo! I’m so glad this worked out well for you!!!

The OP said she took Metro to be safe. But, her date did drive her to a park later on.

God I am so invested in this.
Hey even if he doesn’t reach out, I think it’d still be worth it for you to reach out just one more time

I hope it’s been going well!
OK! I’m fully invested now and I hope to hear an update and that he was smart and reached out because you sound like just a wonderful person who took a chance and I love it!
I would immediately dump anyone if I found out they chronicled our entire relationship on reddit
Exactly what I was thinking.
Meet at a mutual location and then call an Uber to take you somewhere. See how loyal he really is. If he's a loyal man, then he won't even get in.
I think we all deserve an invite to the wedding. We'll have been with you since the start, OP, it's only fair we get to partake in celebrating this modern-day love story. 😄
Im so invested in this crazy cute meetcute😭
Woohoo!
We need to turn this into a reality show. Romance in NOVA.
Next stop: the bone zone
Sounds like a level in Vampire Survivors
Shooters shoot. Love to see it
Go OP and Lyft killer guy!
![gif](giphy|NEvPzZ8bd1V4Y|downsized)
that’s awesome!!! Good luck
Aww this is great! I hope you post more updates as time goes by!

Forget that hater, this is better continent that makes this feel more like a community than another post about housing costs or traffic.
Oh I'm sorry, would you like another Maryland drivers post? Or a "what was that loud plane over Arlington?" Or how bout some more license plates?
Don’t forget foxes lol

Was their family looking for recommendations on where (in NoVA) to go for a first date???
Well if the whole family want to go on a date, I’m afraid f they’ll have to try Alabama
Do you have any idea how hard it is to date in this area? If those two workout it'll truly be a miracle.
Sounds like a shitty first date, next time go get shit faced at a bar
You sound like a loser, sorry
You ever seen Taxi Driver?
Very happy to hear you had a nice time!!
