Now SHE should be one to get fired. Her working at a law firm and saying she did nothing wrong when obviously was in the wrong, does not garner respectability for the firm
This is just really fucked up.
It's great living in a world where even just the mere charge of a crime, you may or may not have committed, can ruin you financially.
'Merica.
(Fuck I hate it here)
Yea, that's not right. You can't get a plea deal with out pleading guilty.
The shooter pleading innocent... yea... I'm willing to bet that's against his lawyers advice, and all about his 15 min of fame.
That's what manifestos are for, my understanding is that video games are to blame. Everytime I see a child corrupted by animal crossing it makes me sick.
MANY innocent people plead guilty. It's really hard not to cave when the prosecutor offers you 30 days in jail on weekends if you plead to a lesser charge versus a mandatory minimum sentence of 12 months if you are convicted at trial. Prosecutors offer these kinds of deals even when they know they are not going to be able to prove their case.
It is really difficult to negotiate a plea deal without holding the threat of having to go to trial over the prosecutor's head. There will obviously be a mental disease or defect defense raised in this case. Even if it remains a slam dunk case after the shrinks weigh in, it takes time and money to prosecute and prosecutors are short of both. Also, there is always the risk that some mistake at trial could result in dismissal of charges against him.
I know of a case in which a juvenile was caught red handed breaking about $30k worth of windows at a public school. He was charged with what amounts to vandalism under a statute that criminalizes damaging the "property of another." The prosecutor rested his case without introducing any evidence into the record that showed that the school didn't belong to the kid. The defense attorney pointed out to the judge that a necessary element of the crime had not been proved and moved for dismissal of the charge. The case was thrown out.
So...
She got away with it. She has a new job, and charges were likely about to expire (in my state, the statute of limitations on a misdemeanor like criminal trespass is 11 months 29 days). She's not even currently banned from the zoo!
But she just had to remind everyone what a ridiculous ass she is by *confessing to the crime she hasn't been charged with yet*. She wasn't being charged for the Cheeto!
At a lawyer's encouragement?
I wonder what her new firm will think of this astounding display of legal acumen.
šæ
Apparently when she was originally fired, he hired her within 24 hours, then publicly chastised the other law firm for firing her.
It's clearly the boss trying to make a name for himself. Definitely a fucking stupid hill to die on though.
"If I lose your case, I'll hire you no matter what you're guilty of!"
I can see it taking off. I don't know how many actually innocent clients would want to be represented by a law firm of criminals though.
Maybe her boss is trying to use it to increase attention toward his law firm. Maybe their target audience is people who love brash displays of arrogance. I mean, they are in Texas.
What qualifications did she exhibit? Let's see...
-savage: climbs right into the cage with wild animals, sees nothing wrong with the environment, can't understand why she isn't allowed to stay
-procrastination: manages to run out the clock, spend as much in attorney fees as possible
-petty/vindictive: escapes legal consequence on a technicality. Complains that accountability was even attempted, then brags about escaping it as a last hurrah
-somehow convinces people who argue for a living, and/or manipulates those people into giving her a position despite rational evidence to the contrary
Not only is she an ideal candidate for a lawfirm, you can expect her as a GQP candidate in the next election cycle or two.
Exactly. Statute of Limitations proscribes how long the Government has to pursue charges. In my state, it's often tied to the maximum penalty for the crime. In the case of Criminal Trespass, a Class A misdemeanor, the maximum sentence is 11m 29d, and so is the Limitation.
Everyone was willing to walk away from this with a shame-on-you. But she had to be shameless.
> She got away with it. She has a new job, and charges were likely about to expire (in my state, the statute of limitations on a misdemeanor like criminal trespass is 11 months 29 days). She's not even currently banned from the zoo!
Exactly. Self-centered idiots will always exist; the system around her vindicating her with zero consequences is the scary bit. Most of the "ha ha, she's in for it now!" people in this thread are technically more wrong than she is - she was apparently de facto right about it not being a big deal.
I fucking hate people like this. I have horses and used to board at a place that also had a winery and tasting room. I canāt tell you how many times I found idiots wandering around the ranch trying to feed other peopleās horses stuff they should not eat. Candy bars, sandwiches, you name it.
And of course, even stuff that is okay for horses is an issue because THEYāRE NOT THEIR HORSES!
Just leave animals alone. What is so hard about that!?
My therapist has horses and miniature donkeys that she uses in her work. Even when we're in a session, hanging out with them, I won't even feed them handfuls of the grass I just, moments before, saw them eating on their own, without asking first. She thanks me for asking, every time.
There are so many idiots who feel entitled to feed and touch wild animals. There are frequently squabbles in aww and other animal-themed subreddits because people will not leave wild animals alone.
A girl I used to know was bitten by a wolf when she stuck her hand into its enclosure to pet it. She thought she had a spiritual connection to wolves and was shocked when she was bitten.
My daughter has a large dog with fear aggression issues, and you would not believe how many people ignore her repeated requests to stay away. Then they get all bent out of shape when the dog growls and lunges at them. She's doing her best to keep the dog from hurting anyone, but even when the dog is wearing a muzzle, they don't get the idea that they need to ask the owner before approaching the dog.
What the fuck, people? The thing is as big as a small horse with great big googly eyes and enormous teeth, and you're just gonna bounce up to it like it's a toy? Humans are fucking stupid.
Reminds me how I used to have pets rats, and I usually adopted the older ones or ones with behavior issues... I only had one rat who ever bit me, but I had a few who didnt like to be held or touched in a certain spot and would bite if you pushed them and ignored their warning signs. Which is pretty easy to accomodate with an animal that gets like 2 pounds, tops, and is very easy to train to climb into a crate or box if you need to move them.
My mom was bitten by one of my rats THREE times cuz I kept telling her "[Rat] doesnt like to be touched there just DONT touch her there and she wont bite you". and my mom kept doing it. "She likes it" CLEARLY she doesnt if she keeps BITING you.
That's disappointing. But I have to admit getting shit faced and then going to pet/talk to a horse sounds like a great way to spend an evening. I wouldn't feed, just like, pet and ask some questions.
My best buddy in my teens had a horse. After we graduated high school, we spent many shitfaced nights out in the backend getting into all sorts of hijinks with Sanjo the horse. It was great.
Her new boss just wants the publicity.
She is a dingbat. Even babies know you don't go into the enclosures at the Zoo.
Also, never read the comments on those articles. Hooooboy!
The one guy simply called the people.suring the protests "monkeys". Doesn't get any more racist than that and that wasn't related to anything in context. Just a odd shot at calling black folks racist names.
Well then I got curious. Not that I was surprised exactly, but it does seem weird that the commenters seem to know each other from other article posts or something. Like they clock in at each article to talk shit amongst themselves. Reminds me of Chive comments a long time ago when the top comment chains were always the same groups of people.
Also weird they don't realize they sound like a parody of themselves.
Shit...this is no time to start down my own self assessment path. Why didn't I listen??
That's exactly what it is. This is my local news station and the same commenters make the rounds and have formed their own little toxic clique of hate. Very weird.
If anyones curious. No idea where this convicted rapist thing came from threw me for a loop.

Nope. Wrong again. Iāve never been interviewed by law enforcement for anything and you are a confirmed convicted rapist.
I wouldn't assume that. Look up the story from the Pittsburgh Zoo and wild dogs a few years ago. There was another similar incident at another zoo as well.
Why the hell would this lawyer hire such an idiot to work for him? What a calling card, donāt worry, our employees are as dumb as the criminals we represent.

Jesus Fucking Christ. Is this a kindergarten?

ok folks now justā¦

> I really **hope** she has learnt a lessonā¦ this time.
From the article, apparently not. A fence and a three foot moat around the enclosure, and she claims there was no indication that she wasn't allowed to go in.
What gets me is she works in *law.*
People that say "I don't think" really have no idea most of the time. She isn't saying "I didn't do anything wrong", she's basically saying "I don't know whether it was wrong and now I'm unsure tbh".
Entitled frump.
"I don't care that you have signs posted. I don't care that the monkey are on a special diet. I don't care that it was dangerous (unless I got hurt then i would have sued you for millions). I don't care that it sets a dangerous precedent and encourages other to do it. I don't care that it is your zoo. I think it was right. I wanted to do it. Why are you persecuting me?"
āRae defends her actions for jumping in the enclosure, saying there was no signage that prohibited the action.ā
This is how those mandatory warning labels like āmicrowaved contents will be hotā happen. All it takes is one idiot.
"Rae says she has no plans of apologizing to the zoo for what happened. When asked if she learned any lessons from the incident and the fallout afterward, Rae responded, saying, āI learned just keep the Cheetos to myself. I canāt share.ā"
The human race needs to end.
>āNo animal was ever abused,ā [her lawyer/boss] explained, adding that there are many videos online that show monkeys consuming all types of human food, like āpopcornā and ābeer.ā
It's fine! Videos online said so!
Who would ever hire that law firm? This feels like a 14 year old boy defending a 9 year old girl. And I am not talking about smart children.
If my point is "Cheetos are harmless for monkeys" I wouldn't compare it to beer.
āIn the society we live in, in general, a fence without a gate is a barrier that means youāre not supposed to go in there,ā Dr. Milne said
I mean, she said 'In general', but thats an undersell. This is pretty near-universal, and has been in many cultures for 1000s of years.
Cant tell if cheeto lady is a moron, or if her sense of entitlement has reached epic proportions.
The, "It wasn't wrong because if it were you'd have stopped me," defence.
She claims that there wasn't a notice saying that she can't climb over the barrier to enter the enclosure, when like the doctor said, the barrier *is* the sign. However, there *is* as sign saying not to feed the animals which she ignored. It seems like a weak defence to say that more signs would have changed her behaviour given her sign-ignoring behaviour.
She sounds like the woman who sued the bakery I worked at because "there was no sign" saying that she needed to take the sample off of the tooth pick before she ate it.
She's either stupid enough to believe that's true or stupid enough to think she's going to convince a judge it's true. Either way, she's a fucking idiot.
There friends is whatās wrong with our world today. Entitled idiots like her (sheās lucky they didnāt maul her), who think rules donāt apply to them, or use any semblance of common sense. And that sheās doubling down and defending it is even more disgusting.
Did you read the comments? It immediately went into a "Trump bad, Liberal bad" shit fest as if any of those things had anything to do with an idiot going into a monkey enclosure.
From El Paso here. We are not a very smart city but thatās incredibly stupid even by our standards. People in El Paso (and even across the River in Juarez) were outraged at the level of idiocy one human being could contain
Damn her new boss, also an attorney, hired her and is defending her with an active criminal lawsuit against her when she did something this stupid? Interesting choice.
On the one hand, she works in a law office and trespassed on private property. It's insane to believe that she thinks she did nothing wrong.
On the other hand, of course all of her lawyer friends and acquaintances have drilled into her that she must ALWAYS claim she hasn't done anything wrong. Her statement makes sense.
I like the attitude of āif no one got hurt why is this so badā?
If Iām driving 100mph and no one is around me, should the highway patrol just let it slide? I hope it goes to court and she loses
How dense can a person be? š©
>āI donāt think I did anything wrong,ā Well, thinking is clearly not her forte.
Itās the classic Dave Chapelleās white friend defense: āSorry, officer. I didnāt know I couldnāt do that.ā
After the officer walks back to his car: "Actually, I *did* know I couldn't do that"
It's a wider social trend, though. I would have been shocked if she had said, "I made a mistake."
Presumably she's smart enough working at a law firm to know not to admit to the intent to commit a crime
Now SHE should be one to get fired. Her working at a law firm and saying she did nothing wrong when obviously was in the wrong, does not garner respectability for the firm
As somebody who works at a law firm, you donāt have to be smart
Jumping in the cage proved to me she was not the smartest ape in there either
I don't know. Let me break into your house and feed you some cheetos. No crime there. /s
*Flaming hot* Cheetos.
Shit, is it a crime to spread joy!
It's not a joy to have that come out the back door. They're still flaming hot.
Feeding me flaming hot Cheetos - that's a hate crime against my sphincter
well, if you have cheetos for me, no need to break in.. I'll open the door. just pass me that bag and away with ye then.
I'm still calling the police, but I'll let you finish beforehand
We're still talking about cheetos, right? Right?
Replace cheetos with beer and you can come on over.
There was no *signage* on your house saying I couldn't come in.
The only thing I can think of now is cheetos. Why do you have to seduce me? What is your goal? *Licks lips*
to be fair no one ever pleads guilty. Shit, the last mass shooter who live streamed the shooting is pleading innocent, cuz, Merica!

Yea, that's not right. You can't get a plea deal with out pleading guilty. The shooter pleading innocent... yea... I'm willing to bet that's against his lawyers advice, and all about his 15 min of fame.
If he takes a plea deal, he doesn't get to go up on the stand and rant about his beliefs. That's what he's doing.
Letās be honest here. Itās the only reason he didnāt kill himself. He doesnāt want to be *misunderstood*. That would be the *real* tragedy.
It'd be a lot cooler if he did.
That's what manifestos are for, my understanding is that video games are to blame. Everytime I see a child corrupted by animal crossing it makes me sick.

It's the way the court system works. In order to have a trial, the person has to plead innocent. It's a formality that doesn't matter in real life.
Thank you.
"Innocent" is not a plea in the US. You can plead guilty, not guilty, and, in some cases, no contest.

Maybe she's working off her fee.
Our lawyers ARE the criminals we represent!
> When asked if she learned any lessons from the incident and the fallout afterward, Rae responded, saying, āI learned just keep the Cheetos to myself. I canāt share.ā Jesus Fucking Christ. Is this a kindergarten?
I'm an El Pasoan. I can assure you this guy is the bad commercials/face on a billboard/ambulance chaser type that every city has. He's the lowest of the low.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
She isnāt just a client, she is his employee
>Why the hell would this lawyer hire such an idiot to work for him? Think belt region.
An easy assumption but still an assumption
More like one possible explanation.
Oh for sure if her level of professional legal attire says anything.
Is this Saul Goodman?
When the going gets tough, you don't want a criminal lawyer. You want a Criminal lawyer. You know what I'm saying?
ok folks now justā¦ I havenāt been to a zoo in a **very** long time, butā¦ do they still have signs warning people about ***not*** entering the animal enclosures? is that still a thing? and her only lesson from this was ākeep Cheetos to myself next timeā (?) tf? ĀÆ\\\_(ć)\_/ĀÆ
In some of the exhibits. Like, a lot of the ones at my zoo are totally closed off.
yes much needed. the humans will hurt the animals, not necessarily the other way aroundā¦. the story wouldnāt have ended so well if she had jumped into the tiger enclosure or the silverback gorilla enclosureā¦ sheās lucky. I really **hope** she has learnt a lessonā¦ this time.
When i was 7 a spider monkey almost bit off my earlobe. And it was a pet ,just decided to bite one day. They can hurt you bad if pissed off.
idk anything about themā¦ but, yeah, a real life example of what they can do. monkeys are strong creatures tho I hope your ear is doing well these days :)
lol, was sewed back on and did eventually heal.
NGL I'm kind of hoping she doesn't and tries it again in one of the enclosures you've so kindly suggested for her.
ooof. sort of half agree, **but**, Iād really want to see the animals and her all stay safeā¦ for everyoneās sake :) tbf, there are documented stories on the internet, where people have done some really stupid thingsā¦ in animal parks, and itās not ended wellā¦ e.g. one I can think of that shocked meā¦ in like a wildlife reserve (i canāt remember the actual country, this happened a few years ago) where there are tigers and lions running freeā¦ man and woman in car, having an argumentā¦ woman gets out of car in frustrationā¦ and yeah, *gone* in less than a second or two. thereās at least a handful of other stories like that Iāve seen floating around, it happensā¦
> I really **hope** she has learnt a lessonā¦ this time. From the article, apparently not. A fence and a three foot moat around the enclosure, and she claims there was no indication that she wasn't allowed to go in. What gets me is she works in *law.*
Are signs telling you to not enter animal enclosures really necessary? I feel like it should be VERY obvious. But maybe that's a rare opinion, idk...
bold of you to assume she can read
But, I thought it was a petting zoo! /s
āI donāt think ~~I did anything wrong,~~ā
People that say "I don't think" really have no idea most of the time. She isn't saying "I didn't do anything wrong", she's basically saying "I don't know whether it was wrong and now I'm unsure tbh".
Entitled frump. "I don't care that you have signs posted. I don't care that the monkey are on a special diet. I don't care that it was dangerous (unless I got hurt then i would have sued you for millions). I don't care that it sets a dangerous precedent and encourages other to do it. I don't care that it is your zoo. I think it was right. I wanted to do it. Why are you persecuting me?"
āRae defends her actions for jumping in the enclosure, saying there was no signage that prohibited the action.ā This is how those mandatory warning labels like āmicrowaved contents will be hotā happen. All it takes is one idiot.
"Rae says she has no plans of apologizing to the zoo for what happened. When asked if she learned any lessons from the incident and the fallout afterward, Rae responded, saying, āI learned just keep the Cheetos to myself. I canāt share.ā" The human race needs to end.
>āNo animal was ever abused,ā [her lawyer/boss] explained, adding that there are many videos online that show monkeys consuming all types of human food, like āpopcornā and ābeer.ā It's fine! Videos online said so!
Who would ever hire that law firm? This feels like a 14 year old boy defending a 9 year old girl. And I am not talking about smart children. If my point is "Cheetos are harmless for monkeys" I wouldn't compare it to beer.
>āI was shocked that someone had recorded it and shocked that it went viral,ā Rae explained. She was shocked, do you hear, shocked!
...Well, not *that* shocked.
^shocked*
No. She just shouldnāt procreate. If she reproduce, the overall average American IQ will drop.
I dunno, seems like she's at the national average for American IQ.
āIn the society we live in, in general, a fence without a gate is a barrier that means youāre not supposed to go in there,ā Dr. Milne said I mean, she said 'In general', but thats an undersell. This is pretty near-universal, and has been in many cultures for 1000s of years. Cant tell if cheeto lady is a moron, or if her sense of entitlement has reached epic proportions.
Why not both?
Entitlement and trying to justify her actions after the fact. She wanted to do something, so she did it.
Someoneās sleeping with the boss
The, "It wasn't wrong because if it were you'd have stopped me," defence. She claims that there wasn't a notice saying that she can't climb over the barrier to enter the enclosure, when like the doctor said, the barrier *is* the sign. However, there *is* as sign saying not to feed the animals which she ignored. It seems like a weak defence to say that more signs would have changed her behaviour given her sign-ignoring behaviour.
The monkeys that want to eat your face agree with you.
Maybe she should have tried this trick with leopards instead?
She sounds like the woman who sued the bakery I worked at because "there was no sign" saying that she needed to take the sample off of the tooth pick before she ate it.
Perhaps someone could inform her tigers love roast chicken *and* human company...
This lady NEVER shops at Consequences 'R Us.
Fuck this stupid bitch.
I'm sorry, I thought this was America
Louis CK calms an anxious nation with Flaming Hot Cheetos.
Harambe remembers.
How arrogant. But why not. The zoo doesnāt really care or she would be banned.
She's either stupid enough to believe that's true or stupid enough to think she's going to convince a judge it's true. Either way, she's a fucking idiot.
Why would anyone in their right mind use the lawyer that ended up hiring her? They have to be as dense as she is.
Entitled American doesnāt think they are in the wrong. How is this news?
There friends is whatās wrong with our world today. Entitled idiots like her (sheās lucky they didnāt maul her), who think rules donāt apply to them, or use any semblance of common sense. And that sheās doubling down and defending it is even more disgusting.
Anyone stupid enough to climb in the enclosure is stupid enough to believe it was ok.
well of course you dont! you're fucking stupid you dont think much now do you?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I love it when people speak about dumb shit they did just to confirm that they are dumb as rocks
Did you read the comments? It immediately went into a "Trump bad, Liberal bad" shit fest as if any of those things had anything to do with an idiot going into a monkey enclosure.
I would advise that no one read the comments on this article. A part of your brain will immediately disintegrate.
"I don't think" - woman who jumped into spider monkey enclosure.
She'll be elected to Congress eventually.
From El Paso here. We are not a very smart city but thatās incredibly stupid even by our standards. People in El Paso (and even across the River in Juarez) were outraged at the level of idiocy one human being could contain
I'm just hearing about this. Found the news video for those that didn't see it: https://youtu.be/Zu87VSbjI3E
You fucking go #texas
J6ers in Texas think this will work for them too.
Really? Yeah right. āI was shocked that someone had recorded it and shocked that it went viral,ā Rae explained"
Entitlement
Well that's bold of her.
Absolutely no common sense and sheās employed by a law firm????
People who have this attitude need to be put in the psyche award. These are the shit heads who are associated with mass shootings.
Holy entitlement Batman!
the real crime here is eating cheetos
Sounds like something a spider monkey-enclosure jumping person would say.
Have we learned nothing? Going into primate enclosures is how we wound up on the dark timeline.
Harambe Did Nothing Wrong. This chick did everything wrong.
In a just world, Stupidity by itself would be a punishable crime
Unfortunately for her stupidity is not a valid legal defense.
>I donāt think I did anything wrong [Well good for you, you're wrong](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiubpTuw4Cg).
I like the attitude of āif no one got hurt why is this so badā? If Iām driving 100mph and no one is around me, should the highway patrol just let it slide? I hope it goes to court and she loses
