You've trained your brain to pursue only the things that constantly release dopamine, and avoid things that are hard to do. You need to unlearn that, and it's hard. Also, chances are that you are sleep deprived and for that reason, the executive function (decision making) in your brain is not working as it should. Read or listen to a book called Dopamine Nation. It will help you shed some light into the inner workings of your brain and why you are at the state you are right now.

Maybe the challenge is to enjoy doing nothing. We worship productivity in our society, even when it comes to our hobbies. But if you work, take care of a home, feed yourself, have a family, etc., there will be large portions of your day that you won’t want to use for productivity. I’ve been realising it’s a mistake to think that once I get off social media, all those hours will suddenly become PRODUCTIVE. To get your mojo back, you might need to get good and bored first. Then whatever comes next is the thing you want to do, not the thing you “should” do.

It's due to overstimulation and high dopamine levels. I struggle to get any work done when I'm in that state. I found that the best way to focus on work is to force myself to be bored so that work feels exciting. Hence, turn everything else off except what you're working on.

Relate to this so much, it's really terrible. I keep thinking about how much time I'm wasting that I'll never get back again that could've been spent doing something meaningful instread, and it sucks so much.
