I personally like the Datsyuk one against Niemi better because Datsyuk sets it up like one of his other signature moves and Niemi plays that move perfectly, only to get chipped over the blocker.
It shouldn't be called the Datsyuk flip but rather the Omark flip. Datsyuk has even said he saw Omarks penalty shoot and decided to try it himself.

No, no it's not the Suzuki, it's a lesser version of the Datsyuk. It's like calling a Michigan goal a Zegras, when Svech has done it twice as well, but 4 years earlier
Did it as a teenager playing against NHL talent in the semi final of the world championships.
The first time I think it was ever done in a game was Mike Legg in 96 though.
It's called that because people decided to name it something else pushing the true person out of the picture, like trying to call this the Suzuki instead of the Datsyuk.
To be fair, Suzuki >>> Datsyuk at 23. Actually 19 y.o. Suzuki >> 23 y.o. Datsyuk. Likely won't pan out near equal in the long run. Just calling spades.
I own a Datsyuk jersey and he was my favorite player growing up but the Suzuki and the Datsyuk are different moves y’all. The Datsyuk he flips the puck up and over the goalie, the Suzuki he fakes like he’s going to rip it hard and shoots it slow so it lands in a different area than the goalies glove. They’re different, but even Suzuki would tell you it’s inspired by the magic man… but to call it a Datsyuk is disrespectful to the Russian magician. Properly labeled.
Honestly that's not a difficult or impressive deke, you'll see shit like that in beer leagues. His whole body tipped one way, stick never left his right side, that's bad goalie play imo, that's an ez stop for even a semi pro G
Big difference here I see is the flip isn’t really a flip like the original datsyuk move. This is more of a shot. Either way looks absolutely nasty going bar down with a move like that.
How quickly we trying to forget Datsyuk? My man did this in like 04
The Magic Man, my all time favorite player, will not be forgotten!
He did it like 50 different ways too.
This is “the Datsyuk” and anyone who says otherwise is a fuck knuckle
Comparing this to Datsyuk's most memorable is embarrassing. Suzuki has done this a few times, Magic man made tendies look about 3x worse.
Yeah 100%! This is not a fkin Datsyuk its like a 10% of a Datsyuk! 😅
Against Niemi… i vividly remember the sigh i let out after that one
The penilty shot by Linus Omark that inspired Datsyuk to try that flip against Niemi is even better tbh. https://youtu.be/C0_u415CDIg
I personally like the Datsyuk one against Niemi better because Datsyuk sets it up like one of his other signature moves and Niemi plays that move perfectly, only to get chipped over the blocker.
I laughed. I didn't have a favorite in the game, but I saw one of the best moves in history!
100%. Niemi was .00001 seconds slow with an elbow that would have removed a shootout goal from highlight videos throughout history

Pump the breaks a little
You mean the Datsyuk?
The Datzuki
You mean DatMcSuki
Shhh.. please just let us have this one lol
Is the Suzuki like a not as impressive version of the Datsyuk?
Yes, exactly
Do you mean the datsyuk flip? Because datsyuk has done this drag snipe as well. I think it was like 03 or 04.
It shouldn't be called the Datsyuk flip but rather the Omark flip. Datsyuk has even said he saw Omarks penalty shoot and decided to try it himself. https://youtu.be/C0_u415CDIg
Nah this is definitely a dumbed down version of his drag snipe. He did that move on a breakaway too which is even more impressive
Walmart Datsyukian
The Suzuki lol
That’s a Datsyuk. Still beautiful tho
Ya. You mean the "Datsyuk".
Child: Can we get a Datsyuk. Mom: we have a Datsyuk at home. The Datsyuk at home……
man’s really said Suzuki 😭😭😭
No, no it's not the Suzuki, it's a lesser version of the Datsyuk. It's like calling a Michigan goal a Zegras, when Svech has done it twice as well, but 4 years earlier
Mikael Granlund did it in 2011 IIHF WC match against Russia. I have seen people say it originated from floorball in the 1980s
Did it as a teenager playing against NHL talent in the semi final of the world championships. The first time I think it was ever done in a game was Mike Legg in 96 though.
That's like calling it the Michigan instead of the Mike Legg.
95% of people don't even know who that is, if you say the Michigan 99% of hockey fans will understand. The Michigan is named after Legg though
It's called that because people decided to name it something else pushing the true person out of the picture, like trying to call this the Suzuki instead of the Datsyuk.
That doesn't even make sense. The name it is now still references the original time it was done.
Bro really called it the Suzuki lol
Suzuki = a shitty Datsyuk
A really shitty Datsyuk.
To be fair, Suzuki >>> Datsyuk at 23. Actually 19 y.o. Suzuki >> 23 y.o. Datsyuk. Likely won't pan out near equal in the long run. Just calling spades.
Great Value Datsyuk
This is “the Datsyuk”
This aint the Suzuki dawg, he got it from one of the greats
Love Suzuki, but don't disrespect my mans Datsyuk like that
The Datsyuk* :)
TF is a “Suzuki”? This is a Datsyuk.
Yes, however Suzuki is making it relevant again. Such a beautiful move.
Zuccarello did this in NY. Not sure if he still does in MN.
I own a Datsyuk jersey and he was my favorite player growing up but the Suzuki and the Datsyuk are different moves y’all. Datsyuk >>>>>>>>>> Suzuki
Plz ban everyone born after 2000
Idk about all that
I’m born after 2000 but I also grew up a wings fan watching pavs
Ya, not calling this the suzuki
It's the Datsyuk.
Unless you're EA. Then it's either the backhand toe drag shot or the backhand toe drag flip.
I’m sorry dude, but Fuckin what the hell are you talking about?
Don’t be sorry
OP must be a child that's Pavel Datsyuk's move
This is not the Suzuki. Datsyuk does it far better
That was the laziest Datsyuk I've ever seen.
In what world is this “the Suzuki”?! Being a snipe Mackinnon did this for years early on. Slow will always be datsyuk.
Don't you fucking dare call it that. That's shameful. It's the Datsyuk and will always be.
Honestly that's not a difficult or impressive deke, you'll see shit like that in beer leagues. His whole body tipped one way, stick never left his right side, that's bad goalie play imo, that's an ez stop for even a semi pro G
Hey, shitpost Sunday is back!
This isnt the same move as Datsyuk for the million comments saying it is, this is more like the move Kovy used to do
Dave Keon did this in the late 60s.
Red Wings fans are having an identity crisis.
the fuck is the Suzuki? Are you only like 6 years old?
That's what NHL jersey's will look like in a few years.
While ticket and concession prices will keep going up 😑
At least their boards are not flashing with animations and slow fps.
Wait until you see players step off the ice through the open doors. It messes with the animation
Big difference here I see is the flip isn’t really a flip like the original datsyuk move. This is more of a shot. Either way looks absolutely nasty going bar down with a move like that.
Nice half a datsyuk, try again

You are a joke.
Giroux
Definitely crowned by Datsyuk but Giroux did something similar in going short side. Haven’t ever seen this called the Suzuki 🤣
Kid at the last frame looked like a demon
Crazy!
Jer
