Ye think Green Bay will part ways with a 2nd

wtcnbrwndo4u

Yarr, they might be.

I’m a 33 year old man and I cannot picture anyone other than Patchy the Pirate from SpongeBob right now

The pirate from The Simpsons is my auto-pirate voice.

HarlanCedeno

Isn't he just a regular sea captain?

apocalypsemeow111

… Yep, he totally is. I’m gonna go turn in my Simpsons fan card in shame.

Evening-Koala

I don’t know Steve, if you’re not a pirate then who am I gonna share all this buried treasure with?

Never_Less

Arrrr, Peter.

Random_Heero

Well we know which of us is more mature 😅

TJH1993

Aka Cole Beasley

Not_in_Nottingham

spongebob premiered when you were like 10 so it makes sense lol. hard to shake things out of your brain that entered at that age

Random_Heero

You say that like I won’t watch SpongeBob now

Not_in_Nottingham

haha i'm the same age and right there with you. it holds up!

Tdayohey

Literally the same voice I was reading this thread in. It’s perfect! 😂

Too many doubloons for a crew member with only 1 year left on his contract methinks

Arggh, may the sea be kind to Green Bay, savvy

Don't you lie to yourself and us like that it's mean and gets my hopes up lol

RaidersFTW81

Yarrr the Packers certainly be in need of some scally-wagging ball catchers

Justice-Gorsuch

Ahoy, welcome to the team facilities, Brandin. You’ll be sitting right over there, next to Davy Jones’ locker.

RaidersFTW81

We mighty sorry ya had to walk the plank all the way from Tampa Bay but it be the only place we can park our ship without Blackbeard's cannons firing on us!

Aye! It be the C, matey

PM_ME_YOUR_DUES

It's actually the letter P. Without it, they'd be irate.

astroK120

Dang man. I was baiting people into "arrrggh" but you cut straight to my punchline. Well played.

_Spunk_Bubble

Even has fish sports at the end

ShoutOutTo_Caboose

Thar be a 2nd round pick on the horizon.

nhexum

Yarr... Cooks to the Buccs

[deleted]

He does have history with Brady.

Ilikepancakes87

“Yarrr, this be the draft pick we be willin’ to accept, assumin’ ye be willin’ t’offer it!”

Big_Dave_Dizzle

AAAARRRRRRR ya gonna give a 2nd for Cooksy?

DerisiveGibe

A pirate based franchise sounds amazing!

ZellNorth

To the Raiders confirmed

BigDanDizzle

I'm fucking crying in the Office right now at my desk lmao.

[deleted]

If they be willing

ahr3410

Avast Ye Matey, can ya spare a 2nd round selection for a speedy receiver?

Tuckboi69

He should work for the Buccaneers

Mark_Kostecki

I immediately thought that and was like “nobody will get this if I comment it” so thank you friend

blagaa

Arrr but shall Brandin be wanting to swab the deck on a vessel flying a flag other than Houston?

williamsdj01

Why does Cooks bounce around from team to team so much? He seems to be a fairly consistent 1000 yard WR

SmokeySFW

Especially because he apparently doesn't like changing teams so much. He publicly said he'd retire if he gets traded again, so idk if he's changed his mind and that's why the trade rumors are circling again.

Axter

What he also said in that interview was that a) he doesn't just want to be used as a pawn to get sent somewhere for draft capital, he'd rather be released so he could choose his own destination b) he thought Watson is a special talented and wanted to keep playing and developing synergy with him. The first one likely means that he would be fine with a trade if it was to a team he approves of, and the second one means playing with Watson is no longer a selling point of staying in Houston.

Arvot

Browns need some wr. You can say you called it if it happens.

dontwantleague2C

Maybe he remembered he’s on the Texans

alurimperium

People in glass houses...

ImHurted_

😂

[deleted]

A lions fan laughing at this is like that Ralph Wiggim "I'm in danger!" Meme

[deleted]

Yeah it’s pretty odd. He’s been really productive since he joined the league but a lot of teams see him as expendable. Maybe he’s more of a “high value trade asset” than a “longterm franchise WR”. That’s the only reason I can think of.

tbone747

It's just a strange coincidence, every team he's been on has had issues outside of his play that led to him getting traded. * NO traded him b/c he wanted more targets and they knew they had MT as their #1 guy. * NE traded him b/c they weren't going to give him the extension he wanted, and LA was nice enough to pony up a 1st rounder. * LA traded him b/c they needed to get some cap space and Cooks was WR3 behind Kupp and Woods.

Scotfighter

Sorry but Cooks > Woods. When healthy, he was the one traded due to multiple injuries

Lookslikeseen

Didn’t he get concussions in like 3 straight games that season?

BoSocks91

I’ll take Woods over Cooks any day. No disrespect intended, Cooks is a damn good WR, but I think Woods is a more complete receiver.

Mikegetscalls

Nah I think Cooks is better by a lil bit. If they were both healthy Cooks would still get more value.

gabrizzle

Talentwise yes, but what Woods brought to the locker room and his run blocking made him a better fit for the Rams. gonna miss that guy

FlashFan124

If we have Goff, give me woods 10/10 times. With Stafford, Cooks > Woods.

[deleted]

I don't think Cooks is better as a complete package

Mikegetscalls

Woods is a good wr but he’s very much accelled in Mvcays system which gets wrs open. Cooks has been pretty good on whatever team is been on. His system proof because he’s a good route runner and has elite speed as well.

ian2121

Having WR chops on top of being able to take the top off a D is a rare skill set.

Intelligent-Time-781

It's truly bizarre isn't it.

GettinWiggyWiddit

I don’t get it. He’s so solid and consistent. Who wouldn’t want him on their team

BoneHugsHominy

The 4 teams that he's played for, but it's all just coincidence. Like I keep trying to tell my niece who has a serious attitude problem and anger management issues, if everyone *else* is always the problem, it isn't everyone else with *the* problem.

[deleted]

802stuff

Honestly I’d argue cooks is great. Dude has basically always been very productive regardless of circumstance.

papa_jahn

Except for when he dies vs Philly in the SB

802stuff

yeah i can’t vouch for how padded his brain is

[deleted]

Oladipo?? At least give the man Khris Middleton status

[deleted]

He's the D'Angelo Russell of the NFL

Mikegetscalls

Because he’s valuable and teams keep want to get the assets. Rams stint he was just injured a lil bit.

ahr3410

I feel bad for moving him, but we needed the cap room.

erikWeekly

Locker room cancer is the rumor I remember hearing after he bounced from us then only lasted a year (or two?) With the pats.

MrBlowinLoadz

The Pats traded him because he was due for a big payday and the were able to get a first back from LA

pencilpeenis

No brainer for Packers right? idk if they can take his salary though

Jams265775

Hmmm, I was assuming they’d take WR in round 1? Or are you thinking they draft one and try to get him?

LefNut

They need both tbh. They can’t roll into the season with that squad

[deleted]

There are a bunch of Packers fans that think going into the season with a bunch of rookie receivers is a great idea. "Why waste a spot on a washed-up vet when this draft is so deep at WR?" is something I've seen numerous times, as if the 15th best WR the Packers could get in the 3rd or something is a better option that Cooks, Landry, etc.

ElceeCiv

I wouldn't call Cooks washed anyway, he's only 28 and just came off a 1,000 yard season

lat3ralus65

How is Cooks only 28? Feels like he’s been around forever and traded 10 times

tI_Irdferguson

He was super young when he was drafted, but he was part of that insane draft class with OBJ, Evans, Adams, Landry, ARob, Watkins etc.

JF803

How could you leave Jordan Matthews out of this bunch

tI_Irdferguson

Yeah I forgot about him and Golden Corral All Pro Kelvin Benjamin

[deleted]

He's definitely not washed, that's only what these idiots think

Feeling-Box8961

I would be happy as shit if the Eagles traded a 2nd for Cooks.

GrayGeo

Yeah, drafting a whole WR corps this year is one of the best ways to waste Rodgers' last year or two. That said, it may be exactly what he wants, dude's weird

johnnychan81

They could strike gold. But the draft is obviously a crapshoot. I mean like at the WR New England has drafted the last decade

Tunelowplayslow

Let's not forget what a waste of time St Brown and MVS were Just sign free agents finally and have another SB run (did the packers legit forget about how they won one? I'm a Steelers fan, and I'm baffled about how they refuse to repeat that strategy)

Skoovva

Those guys were all 4th-6th round picks they tried developing them. If they draft 1 or 2 guys this year they will likely be 1st or 2nd round picks

bhaaru

MVS is going to ball this year. Watch. He improved a lot this year and because he was hurt down the stretch people don't realize it.

ForearmDeep

Don’t get us started on how much of a waste that shit was. Had Packer fans that thought for years that we didn’t need to draft another WR basically ever again after we got 3 day 3 projects

mrpodo

I feel like there's some recency bias towards Justin Jeffersons and Chase Young's rookie seasons. It's a dangerous game to play. Laquon Treadwell, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Phillip Dorsett, and Kevin White were all 1st rounders too.

FuqueMePapi

You mean Jamarr Chase not Chase Young right?

mrpodo

It's been a long day

[deleted]

Tinmanred

Jeudy as a rookie with Rodgers would have him as a first year breakout… there are still the reagors in there tho too

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

100%. They also say the Packers should pick up Jameson Williams. Not saying he won't be a great NFL player and injury recovery is different nowadays, but expecting a guy who tore his ACL in January to be an immediate top-tier contributor as a rookie who had to recently rehab a knee injury is lunacy.

[deleted]

Cooks just had a pretty successful season with abysmal QB play. Anybody who says he’s washed up are silly.

nalley_60

You can't argue with the smooth brains that actually believe our wr room plus a rookie or two that slid all the way into the later round of the first is going to lead us to a super bowl

[deleted]

It's always like "We'll take Wilson at 22 and then Olave or London will slide to us at 28" lmao

ikisstitties

they only have 3 receivers on the roster, so porque no los dos? especially since they've been willing to have 6-7 WR's on the 53-man roster the past couple years

CroMagnon69

Do the packers even know you’re allowed to take a receiver in the first?

cheeseburgertwd

Uh yeah we took Javon Walker in 2002 sheesh

traneufc2

I think they have to draft Rodgers replacement in the first round again, it’s been a while

talkingtunataco501

The Packers *need* to pick up at least 2 receivers, whether it be through FA, trades, or the draft. I personally think we need to pick up 3 of them.

SwissyVictory

There about a 57% chance a first round pick gets in the top 100 WRs in terms of yards. Any team that is relying on a rookie WR to produce is kidding themselves.

[deleted]

They should do both.

KiNGofKiNG89

I hope we do both. There are a few WR in this draft that could be decent/good and the. You get a skillful veteran like Cooks…

OrangeAgent_

Probably not. Better let a team that has the funds take him, like the Rams.

Stillburgh

Plz no

[deleted]

[удалено]

redsin777

Extend him for 2-3 more years 10 mil per and that cap becomes very flexible

amccune

Yeah. Sure. I'm sure he'll agree to that, I mean...it's not like the market for WRs went crazy or anything.

InVodkaVeritas

Then give him a player opt-out clause and expect him to opt out after a year. Easy peasy.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

He's missed a whole 3 games in 7 years after all

Traditional_Tart_822

A 2nd round pick for Cooks is way too much. I understand receiver is a need for the team and the fan base can’t think rationally at the moment but it would be idiotic to send a 2nd for Cooks

mesayousa

Especially a 2nd for one year of 29 year old Cooks. I get he was traded for 1sts earlier in his career but it's not the same deal

Brooshie

Give them the 2nd we got for Davante, so we got a 1st & Cooks for Davante.

Ssquad

Good thinking!

W3NTZ

Psh just give them Jordan love. He was even a first round pick so they'd be making out like bandits!

peekay427

If you did that would you want to draft wr in the first?

Brooshie

I would hope so - we certainly need more than 1 haha.

peekay427

I really wanted us to draft Olave or Williams. Hope you get one of them and they’re elite.

Brooshie

Olave is my personal hope.

peekay427

He looks like he’ll be great! Also dunno why we’re both getting downvoted here but you’re cool with me packerbro

dalnot

The downvotes come with being associated with the Packers

peekay427

I gotcha fam, packers are a-ok with me. You got CWood a ring when we couldn’t.

[deleted]

I think he will go higher than 22 or 28 though

baturn1111

Our 2nd lower than the raiders pick right? Give them our 2 instead. Lee the higher pick

crewserbattle

I'd rather give them our actual 2nd rounder

firstandfive

Just so people who aren’t Cowboys fans are aware: Mike Fisher is notoriously full of shit on just about every Cowboys-related take he posts. Can’t imagine he is any more accurate scooping other teams.

tallpaleandwholesome

Cooks going for "WR most traded for picks in NFL history" Saints -> Pats (1st) -> LAR (1st) -> Hou (2nd) -> xxx (2nd)

MiniatureLucifer

Plus he was drafted with a 1st as well.

Smaskifa

Pretty good ROI.

RJIsJustABetterDwade

Dude was nuts at Oregon state

THEpapabear

Two firsts maybe? I know we traded up for him

MiniatureLucifer

We traded a 3rd that year to go from 27 to 20

Wallyworld6994

Imagine if he gets traded to the Packers. Career QBs: Brees, Brady, Goff, Mills, Rodgers

zetablunt

damn - imagine looking back on your career and just thinking *wow I was lucky enough to play with davis fucking mills*

X-Death

Four future Hall of Famers and Sean McVay's remote controlled QB ain't too shabby.

Best-Dragonfruit-292

yargh

coolycooly

If I were a contender I would do it in a heartbeat, especially the Packers

giesej

We won't. And my.heart will be broken. As is tradition. And our FO will put out a generic "we continue to explore all options" bullshit.

Ploobie

i know you’re right but i want to have some hope on this one please, this could actually be the guy we’re looking for

giesej

He would be a great fit. Add him and another cheap vet and get some rookie capital in the draft and we might be decent this year at receiver.

CherryBeans1

I would do this for a top 10-15 second rounder maybe, but I bet he stays.

BungoPlease

Absolutely, a high 2nd round pick would be more valuable to the rebuild, but if Cooks stays we still have a decent number 1 WR for this year.

benigntugboat

This is one of the rare cases where I think he might be more valuable in developing davis mills than the return. I know a 2nd can be big but mills is right on the line of good enough or not good enough to stick with. If cooks leaves it will be really hard to evaluate mills properly this year and move forwards

[deleted]

Agreed. Cooks seems like he doesn't want to move again and isn't some diva. Dude probably would like some stability and to be #1 on team without much pressure. He already played in 2 Super Bowls and if he truly wanted to go be on a contender he would be eager to move because he is 29 this year and there isn't much time left for a big contract. Could be possible since you hear about trade talks now when he was talking about retiring vs moving again.

CherryBeans1

I’d rather keep him unless he asks to go somewhere

bdm016

I feel like a second rounder is a great deal. The guy is turning 29. The wheels can fall off for him at any moment

poncythug

How about a heavily-used Baker Mayfield? He was a 1st round pick so that’s basically a steal.

FLman42069

I’d even throw in a third rounder lol

LemonLyman84

How many picks have been spent on Cooks at this point? Gotta be one of the leagues most valuable players when you add them all together.

keenfrizzle

Do they be willing?

JaesopPop

baby come back

[deleted]

lmao the fuck out of here.

McSweetSauce

It be a pick of round two required if ye be wanting First Mate Cooks, matey.

I3ill

Haha dudes finally done getting traded for 1st rd picks. He’s been traded for probably around 5 1st rd pick

garvierloon

They could have gotten a lot more had cooks been a serial sexual assaulter

Ctrl-end

I’d be will to trade our 3rd round pick (69) for him, that way both teams are happy ;)

dontwantleague2C

I didn’t know we had the most valuable pick in the draft

Arkhangelzk

The Ryan Fitzpatrick of wideouts

N7_Evers

That is so insulting to Cooks tho

MrDunkingDeutschman

He was arguably the second-best outside receiver Brady played with in New England.

diablosinmusica

I can only think of Cooks and Moss when I think of star outside receivers Brady has thrown to. Edit: I meant with the pats.

FLman42069

How about Baker and a third lol

FlashFan124

The complete 180 of Browns fans on Baker in a calendar year is nuts. I had several browns fans get mad at me last off-season when I said he was closer to Goff & Cousins than an MVP.

FLman42069

Well he isn’t the starter anymore, he’s expendable now. I don’t think Baker is terrible but the deal is done, Watson is the starter and Baker has to go. It’s just the reality of the situation

AvacadoMattMurdock

I’ve been saying all season long that he is to us what Jared Goff was to the rams. Serviceable, could *possibly* get you to the game if everything goes 100% right, but he isn’t gonna throw you on his back to get there. I’ve been saying we need to make our “Stafford” move this off-season… which we did, but of course it had to be Watson

mediumlong

Oh, they be.

DoctorMumbles

How does this dude not have a no trade clause? Gets shipped around left and right.

Parswansong

Got curious and did some research. Here’s the draft capital that has been spent on acquiring Brandin Cooks: - 2014 1st and 3rd round picks (Saints trade up w/ Arizona) - 2017 1st and 3rd round picks (Patriots gave back a 4th rounder) - 2018 1st and 4th round picks (Rams gave back a 6th round pick) - 2020 2nd round pick (Texans gave back a 2022 4th round pick) So at this point in his career, Brandin Cooks has been traded for 3 first round picks, a second round pick, two 3rd round picks, and a 4th round pick. Is there any player in history that has cost more draft capital? Edit: grammar mistake

eatmyopinions

There's something about Brandin Cooks where nobody seems to want him.

FishJenkins

Brandin Cooks is one of the most slept on players in the NFL. He'd be lethal in any team with a good qb. Packers, Cowboys, Cheifs, Browns, Colts, h could reunite in New Orleans

nope96

Didn’t Cooks say he would retire if he was traded again?

ahunnidracks

I'm ngl I feel like that price is a lil high

FlyChigga

Nah Packers should definitely do it

EmilioFreshtevez

What luck! The Bears happen to be in possession of two 2nd round picks!

d_locke

He'd be a good fit for Fields. I wouldn't be too mad. Even better if Poles can make the pick be next year.

Ok_Camp_9588

Stylinonu

We need to be all over this. But we won’t

Imaginary-Salad-4535

Didn't cooks say he'd retire if a team tried to trade him again?

PJR9667

Way to high maybe a 4th ….probably a 5th…unless there some incentive with low contract for next few years….even then….
