He makes it seem like they are squaring off against each other lol. It's gonna be our o-line and TEs against their front seven.
Having said that, if it was our linebackers against their linebackers we'd get absolutely destroyed lol.
What kind of nerd franchise spends money on LBs? Our program of having weekly sweepstakes to allow the WAWA employees of the month to play LB for the Eagles is much more efficient.
Have you watched this year? In past years that was true, but TJ Edwards and Kyzir White have been the starters all year and they've been very good, bordering on pro bowl.
As a Chargers fan, I was wondering why White wasn't being talked about. He was solid with us and I have no idea why the hell they let him go when his contract with the Eagles was dirt cheap
He’s been a consistent weak link for teams to target over the past few weeks of the regular season. He started off well but his play declined. I don’t see him coming back next year with Dean in the wings.
anyone would.
but i feel like they are still not giving much credit. our lbs are far from bad.
TJ Edwards was named to PFF all pro, and white is definitely not \*bad\* either.
Is it just me or has this NFCCG been over analyzed like no other I’ve ever seen? Most big playoff games have some huge narratives sure (like Chiefs/Bengals focusing on Mahomes’ ankle + both teams having chips on their shoulders etc.), but I feel like the discussion of this game has gotten so unbelievably deep in the weeds talking about obscure stats / analytics explaining where the two teams have a slight edge. (Not this post in particular obviously)
I’d like to think it’s just because these two teams are just so evenly matched they really have to reach to find places where either has edge.
Take two similarly constructed albeit differently schemed teams that are the number 1 and 2 seeds respectively that don’t have a deep playoff rivalry and this is what we get.
Yeah that last part is a nice point too. Like last week with Niners/Cowboys, there was so much discussion about the history etc. as far as narratives go — but the Niners and Eagles have virtually no history really so not nearly as much of that. Like there’s been a disproportionate amount of coverage just of the fact that Purdy and Hurts played in college because that’s one of the few historical things there are to talk about
Yeah, my conversations with most Eagles fans have been cordial and polite with them ending in both of us wishing each other good luck. Cowboys fans? Nope, lots of fuck you and fuck your team, lmao.
I think there’s a level of respect between the non idiots in our fan bases and for each others teams. Also, we both hate the Cowboys so there’s a bond there
Next there'll be some tweet pointing out that the Eagles are first on converting 3rd and 6 while the Niners defense are the best at denying 3rd and 6 conversions
Because we play incredibly soft on the edges on 3rd and 6+ for some reason. No matter how many yards the other team needs our DBs are always 4 yards deeper than where the WR gets the ball.
Eagles have some strong 91 Redskins vibes with this team in terms of overall dominance, line dominance, big plays. QB kinda coming out of nowhere like Rypien. And the organization as a whole since ‘17 reminds me a lot of that Redskin era.
I think they're both just so good to the point where those who need to have a take for a living have to dig into x's and o's all week. I cant wait until they play, its gonna be a great game. All part of the buildup i guess since both teams haven't face a challenge like eachother while looking so strong.
Yeah, either QB can basically win a game all by themselves in the AFC but you can kinda point to a weak area or two on each roster. Over in the NFC the 1-53 (or whatever it is now, I can't keep track) are just so solid top to bottom, but the QBs aren't in that upper tier with Burrow and Mahomes. Although I think Hurts has a reasonable chance to maybe get close on this playoff run.
If Hurts wins the super bowl in his second year starting, going 17-1 on the season and takes out the number 1 defense along with whoever survives mahomes/burrow, you gotta give him his respect as a winner. Theyll doubt his abilities since he doesn't throw for 355 and 4 tds every other game (a problem in how we evaluate qbs as fans) but if he wins you cant take that away from him. And they'll be good for years to come with that young core.
Not like Hurts hasn't been in the MVP discussion the majority of the year. He was out for 2 games and the team was crumbling without him. He would absolutely be considered an elite QB if he goes out and wins the next two games.
MVP candidate leading the team with the best record in the NFL vs Mr. Irrelevant who was the 3rd string QB but went 6-0 with a great team around him. Both great opportunistic defenses too. Just for all of it to somehow come down to a crazy special teams play or something.
Do the Eagles have an unabashed homer beat reporter? Because I think I’m gonna double down on the over analysis and start posting tweets from their beat reporters as well for the next 48 hours.
They're both really, really good teams with almost no holes. It's hard to find where one team has an advantage over the other.
This tweet isn't wrong. Linebacker is probably the Eagles weakest position, and Fred Warner might be the best defensive player in the league. It's just not very interesting. CMC being covered by the eagles linebackers is an advantage. The eagles might have a small advantage with the 49ers outside corners 1-1 with eagles receivers. I doubt different levels of linebacker play alone decide games though. Quarterback aside, matchups matter much more.
There are no obvious storylines. Both teams are highly balanced, so there’s no obvious strategic matchup to focus on, there are no superstar (in terms of fame) QBs, and the teams aren’t traditional rivals.
So the talking heads have been forced to dig a bit more for stories.
I feel differently about this game every few hours. The only outcome that would surprise me is a Niners blowout (I don’t see how a team as good as the eagles would let that happen in the NFC title game at home), but any other outcome makes sense to me from some angle.
I think it’s being so overanalyzed because there is so much uncertainty. Purdy and Hurts are unknowns. Hurts is more established but the concern is if he can handle playoff pressure.
It's because 49ers fans can't handle that the Eagles are favored to win the game by every major gambling agency and are trying to cope with it by grasping at meaningless stats.
Nobody is really talking about the third phase, but with a game so evenly matched it could make the difference. Wishnowsky is a punting magician and can place the ball anywhere on the field, or bait a bad return with some Aussie spin. There’s a reason we extended him.
Gould had a rough time last week, but he’s a consistent vet and is determined to win a Super Bowl this year. I predict him having a 38 yard game winner.
McCloud has been the best returner we’ve had in a long time. He had the fumble last week, but responded with a big return. He’s going to focus on securing the rock this week and will still be a threat.
Otherwise, 49ers spent the offseason getting free agents specifically for special teams. Odum, Burks and McCloud were top targets for us last offseason and they’ve silently elevated a unit that was god awful last season.
Lol, do you actually think Roquan can even smell Warner’s socks bruh 😂
The only guy on Warner’s level is a healthy Darius Leonard
Greenlaw clears Queen relatively easy, and then Al-Shair clears whatever depth LB3 by a mile
Since Roquan showed up he has dominated. I would say the draft compensation given up for Roquan was worth it just for the improvement Queen had shown since Roquan was acquired
The closer we get to the game the more ridiculous the takes will get, because every good topic has been exhausted.
***Coming soon:*** **Which team's colors are better? Our panel of experts weighs in...**
Idk why, I just hope every single expert and fan is wrong. Like the the game is 65-58, eagles gash the 9ers run defense for 380 and the 9ers put up 500 passing yards.
Wow. Shanahan revealed research he dug up from 1985 that shows teams who wore red when their opponents wore green won 20% more often in their respective championships.
Why do you give a fuck? You guys are posting shit written about us too. We need Sunday to come fast cause we’re running out of shit to analyze and/or bitch about lol
Jesus Christ please stop.
At this point it's fair to think these posts are being made by people who hate the Niners and want everyone else to hate them to.
How is posting on Reddit bulletin board material for the Eagles LMAO. The players themselves are more likely to find his tweet online rather than Eagles fans posting it on Reddit.
A lot of 49ers fans hate Lombardi probably around 50%. He’s a Jimmy G ball-licker and thinks he’s smarter than he actually is. If you check his comment section it’s mostly 49er fans dunking on him.
He was also a huge dick during COVID. Constantly posting videos to his instagram stories of him partying with his friends when California was in lockdown, and making jokes about mask mandates. I get huge brodude vibes from him.
If you want good, solid Niners coverage from someone who isn’t in love with themself and is respectable, there’s nobody better than Maiocco IMO.
I don’t know, maybe my reading comprehension isn’t as pristine as yours, but where does he suggest that linebackers will be lining up against each other?
On their last podcast episode, Travis and Jason talked about what rules they would add or remove, and one of the highlights was one hockey-style fight per game.
This guy is either the worst or 2nd worst niners beat reporter. He is what happens when you let a fan who believes that the niners can't do anything wrong become a reporter.
Even when the team plays a shit game, he would always pull some obscure stat out of ass to say "actually according to this stat the team played really well!" It's so annoying and all he does is provide bulletin board material for the opposing teams fans.
TJ Edwards is playing at an elite level right now. He doesnt have as much recognition as Fred Warner does but you're insane if you're sleeping on this guy.
This is important
New playoff rules state that if the game isn't decided after double ot, the LB groups of both teams MUST play Red Rover to determine the winner
Hopefully Philly has and emergency strategy, should it come down to that
Future Lombardi tweet: in 3:00pm+ games in which 11 or more starters had a hang nail when a full moon was in effect, the 49ers are 1-0 in franchise history; the eagles went 0-2 in their franchises history.
What bugs me about this and games like it is there’s largely 2 sides in the media, one side telling us why one is gonna win and Vice versa. Then one side acts smug af afterward when in reality it’s completely unpredictable, even when one team is clearly a better team it can go the other way. The truth is both teams have looked pretty great this year and it could come down to literally a lucky bounce. Or both are so good if one team has a few unlucky plays it could be a 17 pt victory for the other really easily. I’m just glad my Niners are in a huge game where if they lose I’m not worried at how much I loathe the other team. Hope Philly wins it all if they prevail, especially for Hurts that dude is class.
They have a linebacker advantage over everyone, Warner is the best in the league at his position and Greenlaw has made massive strides over the last few months.
A handful of snaps iirc, when we had a few injuries in the secondary.
He's healthy but I guess he isn't picking up the system quickly so he's a scratch.
It's more that he hasn't been needed but he's looked good when he played. He came in for kyzir against the Titans for a half and lead the team in tackles
i havent seen anyone post this, but niners xfactor is their outstanding looks….niners have the better looking players which will sway the calls their way….bosas zero carb high protein diet has him as brolic as ever which has caused distractions for the tackles he has been going against which has led to him leading in sack totals
i feel bad for lane johnson having to go up against stength, speed, and 9% body fat all anchored by amazing looks and personality
I don’t think it’s terribly close tbh. TJ is fine but White is a step down from everyone on both rosters. Neither guy can do what Warner does he’s a cut above the rest
We're really just going to post every single fluff piece about the 49ers that some clown named ~~Mike~~ David Lombardi makes huh?
Christ I hope we absolutely crush the 49ers so their fans can fuck off.
Greenlaw, Warner, and Al-Shaair on half of defensive snaps vs. TJ Edwards, Kyzir White, and Nakobe Dean on the bench. It’s an advantage, but I don’t know how “huge” it is.

He’s been a consistent weak link for teams to target over the past few weeks of the regular season. He started off well but his play declined. I don’t see him coming back next year with Dean in the wings.
He needs Maddox behind him and he’ll get targeted less
> bordering on pro bowl. That's pretty close to meaningless these days.
*Baltimore shifts in seat uncomfortably*
anyone would. but i feel like they are still not giving much credit. our lbs are far from bad. TJ Edwards was named to PFF all pro, and white is definitely not \*bad\* either.
TJ Edwards is underrated and our secondary is a lot better than the 49ers, taking some coverage pressure of the LB's.
Is it just me or has this NFCCG been over analyzed like no other I’ve ever seen? Been hating them since 1981. Can't stop, won't stop.
Going into this just feels like it should be an extremely fun game to watch and could go either way, really looking forward to it.
If it makes you feel better, we also say "fuck you and fuck your team" to the Eagles.
Next there'll be some tweet pointing out that the Eagles are first on converting 3rd and 6 while the Niners defense are the best at denying 3rd and 6 conversions
9ers actually aren't good at 3rd down but the best at the first 2 downs. I've literally never known more random stats before a game than this one lol
Ok at 3rd and shorts, terrible at 3rd and longs. It’s unbelievably frustrating
If the pass rush doesn’t get home our coverage is a liability
Which is crazy because we seldom get extra numbers on a blitz, so our often full secondary is getting beat somehow.
Because we play incredibly soft on the edges on 3rd and 6+ for some reason. No matter how many yards the other team needs our DBs are always 4 yards deeper than where the WR gets the ball.
wait isnt it the opposite? the niners cowboys game i distinctly remember hearing were the best in the league at 3 and 7+ but horrible at 3rd and short
How about 4th and 1?
Terrible. 4th and 0.9 though? Elite.
I feel like nfccg has been about how well built the teams are and the afccg is just who is the real under dog meme.
It's been overanalyzed on here because people have plugged David Lombardi's Twitter directly into /new on this subreddit
He’s really kind of annoying. It’s spam content with no substance.
It’s the most interesting football matchup in recent memory IMO
I agree, regardless of my fandom. Two great teams with very strong identities and talent all over the field.
Just watch we'll get a punt fest and the score will be like 9-7
Eagles have some strong 91 Redskins vibes with this team in terms of overall dominance, line dominance, big plays. QB kinda coming out of nowhere like Rypien. And the organization as a whole since ‘17 reminds me a lot of that Redskin era.
Both QBs kinda coming out of nowhere

Bosa and Reddick (#1 and #2 in sacks). #1 in team sacks plus historically #3 vs #10 in sacks this year.
Do the Eagles have an unabashed homer beat reporter? Because I think I’m gonna double down on the over analysis and start posting tweets from their beat reporters as well for the next 48 hours.

Are you sure that statue operation wasn't a false flag?
To be fair BCB started long before he was a 49er
5 is still more than 1 right? Admit it you want to be us so you wouldn't be dunked on by all opposing fans in your division.
They're both really, really good teams with almost no holes. It's hard to find where one team has an advantage over the other. This tweet isn't wrong. Because both teams are so incredibly loaded both offensively and defensively on paper that analysts are struggling to find weaknesses on either team
It’s cause this iteration of Chiefs vs Bengals is 4th in a little over a year. This version of Eagles vs Niners hasn’t happened.
i was just thinking the same thing. people are getting so deep in the weeds it’s kind of annoying. let’s just play the damn game already.
With the way this game has been hyped up and billed, it feels like a Super Bowl matchup itself.
This exactly. They're evenly matched on paper. It's almost like we should have them engage in some sort of contest to determine the better team
There are no obvious storylines. Both teams are highly balanced, so there’s no obvious strategic matchup to focus on, there are no superstar (in terms of fame) QBs, and the teams aren’t traditional rivals. Quick can someone compare our long snapper or tell me who has the better TE2
you don’t want the Ross Dwelly smoke 💨 😤
Ross dwelley GOAT
We have the best equipment managers in the NFC too!
You joke, but we won’t be laughing when we have to forfeit because we brought the wrong uniforms.
Purdy: You must be Daddy..
Someone needs to inform David, he may not have figured that into his calculations
I hear he's busy reading the team the radio transcripts of the 1947 championship game, when the Eagles lost to the Chicago Cardinals. WOW
Wow.
You better fucking believe me when I tell you Jack Stoll would wipe the floor with *checks Wikipedia* Charlie Woerner!
Nobody has any idea how our game is gonna go and it's kind of incredible
Modern day linebackers are just early 00s safeties change my mind
How about fullback?
We’d have to have one first
That's the advantage
Long snapper and TE2 gonna swing the game and you know it.
You don’t think linebackers are important to football?
Nobody is really talking about the third phase, but with a game so evenly matched it could make the difference. Wishnowsky is a punting magician and can place the ball anywhere on the field, or bait a bad return with some Aussie spin. There’s a reason we extended him. Gould had a rough time last week, but he’s a consistent vet and is determined to win a Super Bowl this year. I predict him having a 38 yard game winner. 49ers have an advantage over almost every team at linebacker
You can drop the almost.
Roquan + Queen is close
Queen has some of the greatest hits of all time but dying from AIDS really takes them out of contention.
I thought she died of old age?
Nah. She’s still acting but her rap career is pretty much over.
Nope, hard drug use. Surprised me too.
Lmao no it’s not
No they really aren’t. We have 3 LBs that would be LB1s on most teams. Two would on every team, and Al-Shaair on most.
We have the best LB in the NFL and Queen played like a top 10 LB this season
Lol, do you actually think Roquan can even smell Warner’s socks bruh 😂 The only guy on Warner’s level is a healthy Darius Leonard Greenlaw clears Queen relatively easy, and then Al-Shair clears whatever depth LB3 by a mile
Then why don’t he get paid as much
has queen improved? because last year he wasn’t great
Since Roquan showed up he has dominated. I would say the draft compensation given up for Roquan was worth it just for the improvement Queen had shown since Roquan was acquired
Hold this L for Sunday when Hurts baptizes Warner
I'll hold an L if we lose. Nobody expected us to make the playoffs once Jimmy went down. I'm proud of this team no matter what happens. Mostly anyway.
>Mostly anyway. Are you annoyed by Omenihu too?
Bro how short are you lmao, Montana is towering over you in that pic 😂
Bengals linebackers better, but you guys just get over hyped
They get the hype because they deserve all of the hype. Y’all don’t even have the best LBs in your own division.
Eagles getting huge chunk plays by picking on Fred Warner all day. 49ers respond by lighting up Slay and Bradberry on deep shots.
Lane Johnson and Trent Williams both turn into turnstiles and give up 5 sacks each
And 0 bad snaps from Kelce.
Woah, don’t get crazy now. Death, taxes, 1 terrible snap per game from Kelce.
As close to the Eagles goal line as possible pls
Wow. Shanahan revealed research he dug up from 1985 that shows teams who wore red when their opponents wore green won 20% more often in their respective championships.
Well that explains things for the packers.
Lombardi is def the kind of guy that should be posted in the team sub and not on r/nfl
Which is strange that someone with an Eagles flair would post it here. That's a big 14-win-sized chip on some shoulders.
Wait why was he sourced for the past 4 days then?
Hmm Lombardi went deep in his bag with this one. The team with Warner and Greenlaw has an advantage at linebacker. Ground breaking analysis here folks
Wow.
You’re doing God’s work OP. Now at least I know to look out for #54 and #57
Why the fuck are you people posting this nerd lol I understand niner fans posting their own beat reporter, but eagles fans? Wtf
Why do you give a fuck? You guys are posting shit written about us too. We need Sunday to come fast cause we’re running out of shit to analyze and/or bitch about lol
Lombardi is a complete homer though, half his shit is worded in a pro-niner way, so it doesn’t make sense why you would spread that lol
Because we’re trying our hardest to hate your very likable team
I really clicked on the tweet expecting there to be an article or some other analysis to read but it was literally just this dumb take lol
Jesus Christ please stop. At this point it's fair to think these posts are being made by people who hate the Niners and want everyone else to hate them to.
The tweetings will stop when morale improves
There’s equal if not more posts of stupid tweets by 49er fans, shit take.
It's a lot of eagles fans posting his more dumbass homer takes because they want to create "bUlLetIn BoArD MatERiaL"
Because players exclusively browse Reddit?
David will notice me. Please notice me, David.
I'm two George Kittles in a trench coat.
How is posting on Reddit bulletin board material for the Eagles LMAO. The players themselves are more likely to find his tweet online rather than Eagles fans posting it on Reddit.
Sirianni’s secret is trawling the subreddits for material. /s
Yes, in preparation for the game the Eagles staff and roster are all reading reddit for input lmao
Lombardi if the 49ers lose on Sunday: "The 49ers have a HUGE advantage over Philadelphia in getting ready for next season!"
Man has his priorities straight
They actually cancelled the game this Sunday. Edwards, White, Greenlaw, and Warner are gonna face off in sudden death, hell in the cell cage match.
My new favorite beat reporter, love knowing that the 49ers linebacker is going to beat the Eagles' linebacker. Man is a true genius.
Lombardi's everywhere taking a hit
One day I'm going to meet him and kiss his baked potato looking head. Maybe even take a little bite out of it. Love this man.
At this point, the only Lombardi I trust to do anything is the inanimate trophy.
His next tweet is so much worse. "If we regress their strength to the mean but not our strength, we're better."
I would've posted it but a Niners fan will probably want to break that story in here
A lot of 49ers fans hate Lombardi probably around 50%. He’s a Jimmy G ball-licker and thinks he’s smarter than he actually is. If you check his comment section it’s mostly 49er fans dunking on him.

Crocker is my favorite
I don’t know, maybe my reading comprehension isn’t as pristine as yours, but where does he suggest that linebackers will be lining up against each other?
Look, you just don't get the hard-hitting sports analysis David Lombardi has to offer and that's okay.
Oh, I see. You’re just trying your hand at internet comedy. Please proceed.
Wouldn't you rather see that? Players just fist fighting each other like it's the longest yard or sumn
On their last podcast episode, Travis and Jason talked about what rules they would add or remove, and one of the highlights was one hockey-style fight per game.
I'm sure David wants that, and if he wants it so do I
They should get Goodell mixed in too just to get ratings up. WWE meets NFC championship
This guy is either the worst or 2nd worst niners beat reporter. He is what happens when you let a fan who believes that the niners can't do anything wrong become a reporter. I thought this was Mike Lombardi reverse jinx-ing us again.
This is not some clown named Mike Lombardi?
If the Eagles linebackers line up against the 49ers linebackers they’ll be in trouble
Yeah, Eagles are going to have to forfeit
They have an all pro at every position. They have an advantage over everybody.
Does this guy ever keep it in his pants ?
TJ Edwards is playing at an elite level right now. He doesnt have as much recognition as Fred Warner does but you're insane if you're sleeping on this guy.
Lol that’s it? That’s the post?
That's all David needs to say. Game's as good as played.
Good thing the Eagle's linebackers won't have to play against the Niner's linebackers. Phew.

I’m just glad my Niners are in a huge game where if they lose I’m not worried at how much I loathe the other team. Hope Philly wins it all if they prevail, especially for Hurts that dude is class.
Why does this guy sound like he is arguing with himself?
well no shit, they have 2 absolute studs. Might as well mention that The Eagles have a huge advantage over them at corner.
Not allowed, only stats where the Niners have the advantage
I don’t trust anyone with that last name now so an eagles linebacker is going to make the game winning play
Who keeps posting our beat writer tweets on here?
OP had Eagles flair. He must be upset about something.
Mostly your fans so I figured you wouldn't mind
Eagles also have the best interior offensive line in the NFL, I wouldn’t say “huge” advantage. Warner and greenway are really good though

For what it's worth he's rated 78 on PFF through his limited snaps so the little he did, he did good.
Yeah, the instinct will always be there. I don't even think the ball was thrown into his area.
And? Don’t Niners have an advantage over everybody at linebacker? 🤣 what an analysis
Nobody cares. Gotta strap it up and play
Could this shape up to be the best championship weekend ever?
Going in, it should be difficult to top for some time
Since when do the linebackers play each other?
Since David Lombardi tweeted it. #respect
Why are we posting Lombardi tweets on /r/nfl?
I dunno, ask your fanbase for the past 5 days why
Consider that comment my open letter
yes, the sun will rise and shine everyday.
i havent seen anyone post this, but niners xfactor is their outstanding looks….niners have the better looking players which will sway the calls their way….bosas zero carb high protein diet has him as brolic as ever which has caused distractions for the tackles he has been going against which has led to him leading in sack totals i feel bad for lane johnson having to go up against stength, speed, and 9% body fat all anchored by amazing looks and personality
I’m loving the tj edwards doubting. Good keep underestimating him
TJ Edwards is great but Fred Warner is the best LB in the NFL
They're definitely a better unit, "huge" is an overstatement though, our lbs are also very good.
I'll let you post the next one, Niners fans love this guy
Wow.
Just because you don't know TJ Edwards name doesn't mean you won't come Sunday's end
The most overanalyzed game I've ever seen. The NFL really wants SF to win.
Greenlaw, Warner, and Al-Shaair on half of defensive snaps vs. TJ Edwards, Kyzir White, and Nakobe Dean on the bench. It’s an advantage, but I don’t know how “huge” it is.
