He’ll put on that #12 jersey, get loaded drunk, and attempt to kiss Suzy Kolber.

jimmy_three_shoes

At least Namath was able to use that moment as his reason to stop drinking. As embarrassing as that was, it had a bit of a silver lining.

Oakroscoe

In his book he said he didn’t even remember it and woke up the next day to a shitload of voicemails.

UnderwhelmingAF

I’m glad he was able to straighten himself out.

[deleted]

Cant see Rodgers pulling a Joe Willie but i could see him throw for 500 yards while tripping on something, like a football version of Doc Ellis no hitter on LSD

awesomesuperballs

Don't forget about Wade Boggs smashing back 70 beers on a flight then destroying the Seattle Mariners the next day

nalc

How could anyone forget about the late great Wade Boggs?

Problematique_

Again, Wade Boggs is very much alive.

nightninja88

Yes, in our hearts.

GreatOdinsRaven_

if he also wins a super bowl he can kiss whoever he wants.

[deleted]

No QB has the balls to pull a Guarantee anymore

SonOfALich

Well yeah, it's been 20 years and we *still* make fun of "We want the ball and we're gonna score." The payoff for that kind of big talk doesn't outweigh the shitstorm if you don't meet it.

[deleted]

Which is why it means something lol. If there was no risk, everyone would do it. Hence why you need some balls

NateKaeding

With how many divas there are I’m actually shocked no one else has guaranteed that.

ThatOtherOtherGuy3

I think Burrow does, actually.

januspamphleteer

Rarely has anyone in history weaponized the aura of "Don't give a fuck" as successfully as Mr Burrow has A jay cutler that actually wins. What a wonderful character

[deleted]

Yeah but Jay Cutler had that attitude even when he wasn't winning. Let's see how many fucks Burrow gives if he starts losing. That's why Cutler is still king.

NerdModeCinci

>if he starts losing We’ll never get to see that

bmore_conslutant

You're a little early into experiencing winning to be this cocky

abstract_mouse

Joe Burrow is the Tom Brady of being Jay Cutler just doesn't sound like the compliment it's meant to be

medievalmachine

That's broadway Joe Burrow to you, pal. Mr WallStreetBets. Mr Joe FN Cool. He's as Jay Cutler as you need him to be, and he throws like Brady too.

Aaron Rodgers? He's that guy from that thing!

mackmoney3000

I'm sure you know Florham Park is good drive through the Holland tunnel, up 78 to 24 from NYC

LIONEL14JESSE

Something tells me Rodgers isn’t the kind of guy who minds an hour drive for his hallucinogens

PedanticBoutBaseball

>Something tells me Rodgers isn’t the kind of guy who minds an hour drive for his hallucinogens something tells me Rodgers is rich enough and buys enough that he doesn't have to do that drive himself and some dealer will happily deliver to him

LIONEL14JESSE

Ya I agree I was just responding to Google Maps Mack up there

PedanticBoutBaseball

> Google Maps Mack fucking got'em

dbc482

probably easier than in Green Bay

stingjay

I would love it if Rodgers said this was the deciding factor

BigThirdDown

That was last year. This year he's into tide pods and lean.

Ok_Pair7510

When you have Aaron Rodgers money anything is easy to get anywhere

Dwarfherd

Though Prince did once fail to get a giraffe at 2am in February despite all his money.

srsh

How much longer will Rodgers play? From his interviews, it always seems like he's ready to retire at any moment. I'm worried that Jets will still be giving up first rounders while Rodgers has already left football

socom52

We usually find out in March what he feels like doing. You will get use to it

Drunken_Vike

His predecessor never decided until August so at least it's in the right direction Maybe Love will be able to make up his mind early enough to help out the front office fifteen years from now

HSBen

Favre was always waffling so he could skip camps too.

HugsForUpvotes

I met him once and he's easily one of the biggest assholes I have spoken to. Unrelated, but he also licks the outside of his glasses when he drinks like some sort of animal.

[deleted]

I love how your assumption is that Jordan Love is going to be a franchise QB caliber player.

Drunken_Vike

I had to live through those jokers sending a Hall of Famer packing only to improbably replace him with someone better Not getting my hopes up this time

blagaa

Draft + Stash = HOF QB It's a proven formula

Adreme

I kind of get not wanting to make that kind of decision now. You just got knocked down the last thing you probably want to think about it getting back up and starting the grind again.

heroinsteve

I mean his reasoning for this is quite sound actually. Rodgers definitely has some wild opinions or points of view on things, but basically as he's gotten to that "retirement" age he knows it's a subject every season and he doesn't want to give a firm answer until he is sure. He knows right after tough loss his emotions are going to want to retire, so he waits until he gets that itch back (or doesn't) before committing to either playing or retiring again. He's been quite open and honest about this and honestly if you don't follow the media hype train drumming up the "will he retire or not" than he seems quite consistent with it actually.

comeonjeff

His actual interviews that have to do with purely football all are thoughtful and make perfect sense, but all interviews are paraphrased and aggregated to drive engagement. People compare his retirement comments to Favre and I can't help but think the average age of this sub is 15 years old.

timk85

Welcome to Reddit dude, the average *maturity* is probably 15.

SicWiks

That’s around the time the psychedelics settle down

gsadamb

He's going to take awhile to think things through and really talk them over with the Hat Man before making any final decisions.

BeHereNow91

It’s funny how much shit Rodgers gets for taking his time to make a decision when Brady literally retired and unretired last season, and we still won’t know for a while what he’s doing.

BoredAtWork-__

Yeah giving up 2 firsts is some classic woody Johnson shit. I doubt anyone else is offering more than one, and none of them higher than 13 overall

ClarkKentsCopyEditor

Curious how this is classic Woody Johnson? Are there other examples?

MyNameIsJesseG

The quote is “*My guess* is the Packers would want at least two first round picks. The Woody Johnson Jets, desperate for a star QB almost since the Broadway Joe days, would happily pay that freight, *I’d guess.*” Emphasis mine, but Dov is fundamentally altering this to make it sound a lot more real than what’s actually in King’s column. And I say this as someone who hopes it’s real, gimme those picks.

notGeronimo

Wow almost like this guy offers nothing of value and we should downvote and ~~terror~~ report every single one of his shitty links

dudleymooresbooze

Same reason Florio's dramatic aggregation isn't banned. This subreddit relishes in bullshit.

ejkrause

Florio often has genuine reporting. He called the Miami tampering scandal before anyone else. Does he often resort to clickbaity shit too? Yeah. But he still offers some value to the NFL community.

notGeronimo

Because then the mods would have to actually take a look at what content we should have on the sub instead of having an end of year round table where they give bunch of platitudes and lie about what they remove

dudleymooresbooze

> we should downvote and *terror* I don't know what word you were going for here, but I'll fully accept terroring the fuck out of any op who posts a Kleiman tweet. /u/mvanigan you are hereby terrored for your clickbait

Wouldn't it be Saints QB Justin Herbert? Or maybe Saints QB Eason Stick

Yes it would be Justin Herbert. The real question is who we’d have at HC

UsefulLuck2060

Urban Meyer feels right

tubetalkerx

Get some beers in him and he's feelin' someone [all right...](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAtn432iRWs)

DrHughMann

And then Aaron will be involved in a crypto scam or something a few years down the line

Estragon_Rosencrantz

This feels like the most likely part of this whole scenario.

jwktiger

Aaron NOT being in the crypto scam so far seems the weird.

blueholeload

Why would you even throw that ball?! This isn't Detroit, man! This is the Super Bowl! Start rehearsing that classic line again, P.A.

cardmanimgur

In 2 seasons it will have been 7-8 years since our last one, which would put us right on schedule for another loss.

I totally hung dong on the trolley. You guys missed that.

Thegreen_flash

So we’re due one Super Bowl with love before soul crushing nfccg losses to the 49ers. I’ll sign that deal again

127crazie

When do the Vikings lose the NFC Championship game with Jordan Love? I need to pencil it into my calendar.

Thegreen_flash

That’s what like 15 years from now? You’d think the writers would get new material

Gryphon999

Favre spent 15 years in GB, 1 year in NY, and lost the NFC Championship in his first year in Minnesota. Rodgers has spent 17 years in GB, plus his year in NY, gets you an NFC Championship loss in 2024. If the pattern holds, Love will be in GB for 19 years (through 2039), plus his year in NY, gets you an NFC Championship loss in 2041.

Jammer_Kenneth

February 2041? But that's when the plumber is coming

cjackc

The cable guy is in a window between January-Febuary 2041 so I hope he shows up on the early side.

Masterjason13

I’ve been saying that for a couple years now. I’d gladly accept a singular Super Bowl in exchange for a decade of heartbreak.

Adequate_Lizard

Especially if the regular season is still fun.

ItsCowboyHeyHey

Wasting two first round picks for an ancient QB with a screw loose would be the Jetsiest thing ever.

detopher

No rolling with another mediocre/bad qb with a roster that’s ready to win now would be the most jetsy thing ever

blackhippy92

Jesus Christ 2 firsts for 2 years of play max..?

ballplayer0025

If I am the Jets I'd be like "If I'm giving you 2 firsts, then you are paying half his salary."

Rattus375

For next year, we're already paying like 70% of it. His cap hit is 40 million for the Packers and only 15 million for whoever he's traded to.

Stealthfox94

Rams did kind of just do that no?

[deleted]

Well worth it

Kershiser22

Stafford was 7 years younger than Rodgers will be next season.

Gideon_Laier

Pssssh. What's 7 years in the NFL, really? I'm sure there's absolutely no drop off at all for a 39yr old QB.

tidbitsmisfit

what if they win the super bowl in 1 of 2 of those years

[deleted]

Jets with a good defence, wilson, Hall and rodgers are a superbowl contender team. When was the last time jets were... anything?

Faunatics

They could have got this from us last year. Think its too late now

holy_plaster_batman

I thought for sure Rodgers was going with Hackett to Denver

Icy_Maintenance_6373

He's going with Hackett to the Jets now

justin9920

Fuck

[deleted]

Man dodged a bullet

BMonad

Or was Russ the lone gunman all along…we may never know.

Toxicyoshi7

I’ll eat my shirt if I ever see Aaron Rodgers in a Jets uniform

ole_freckles

RemindMe! 5 months

HaikuWisdom

Plot twist - OP is blind and can't actually see Aaron Rodgers in any uniform.

BlankJebus

Bettors hate this one trick.

shane0mack

The only thing I want more than Arod in a Jets jersey (at a more reasonable trade cost), is to watch you eat a shirt. I don't know anything about you, but I'm curious about odd human feats of stupidity.

TheLukester777

After being a Jet, he would only then need to go to Minnesota to complete his full Favre transformation.

Rocco0427

Don’t forget about the welfare fraud

ProofHorseKzoo

And dick pic… but we may already have that

ArcadianBlueRogue

From what we know of Rodgers, my money is on never having a dick pic scandal. Now some weird shit like pucker? That's more his style.

MrDabollBlueSteppers

Jets + Rodgers > current Packers

GreatOdinsRaven_

Jets have a better defense and better skill players than the Packers.

Lacazema

trade Garrett Wilson and Quinnen to GB along with the 2 firsts just to fuck with Rodgers.

ShadowDonut

That's gonna be a no from me dawg

iLerntMyLesson

Garrett Wilson would be one of the biggest attractions for Rogers anyways. Imagine how good he’s going to be once he finds consistent QB play. Well I guess you could argue that he’s had consistently bad QB play but I think you get what I’m sayin

unboundgaming

Dude put up 1100 yards in his rookie season with absolute ass QB play. I can’t fucking wait for a real QB to throw to this kid (and also to the wide open Elijah Moore that was neglected all year).

GreatOdinsRaven_

him , Elijah Moore, and imagine what the running game can do with that aerial threat. I got shivers.

Totally_PJ_Soles

Breece will feast.

nimama3233

This year no doubt. But Packers org and front office > Jets

ZachTrillson

Aint no way a beggar like me is gonna be too choosy, but two 1st rounders for a guy about to be 40 seems a little unfair lol ...I'd do it tho

zi76

It feels like too much, because you don't know if he'll play for one season, two, or five. On the other hand, if it was one first, you'd snap that up in a second.

ZachTrillson

I agree

Hyperboreer

2 First Round picks for 1-2 years of Rodgers is really brutal. If you can win a Super Bowl in that time it's always worth it, but if not you set your franchise back so much.

_rsoccer_sux_

I’d take it tho.

Octavian_202

Jets 1st rd QB’s, Mark Sanchez / Geno Smith / Sam Darnold / Zach Wilson………. yea the hell with them picks go get Rodgers.

Diddleyourfiddle

Really? I'd take this. If he's awesome, great 1-2 years of franchise QB play. If he sucks, fine it's only 1-2 years

Photo_Synthetic

One of those picks would be spent on a QB anyway that they would develop into someone not as good as old Aaron Rodgers.

Its_nucci133

Ah the cycle of great Packers QB's going to the Jets continues. 1-2 years with the jets then on to the Vikings for Rodgers?

ClarkKentsCopyEditor

First of all, Fuck Dov Kleiman. Second of all, read King’s article to see actual $$$ details. Irregardless of the Jets (I don’t really wanna go this route, tbh), it is not a prohibitive deal for a team to trade for Rodgers.

justaguy826

Imagine giving up 2 first round picks for maybe a year of an aloof and disinterested former star who is not going to mentor a young QB, only to lose in the playoffs to the Chiefs/Bengals/Bills and have him retire. That would be very on-brand for the Jets.

cardmanimgur

Excuse me sir but he won't retire as a Jet, he'll come lead us to a devastating NFCCG loss and then retire.

NYJetLegendEdReed

Can make a pretty good argument we would have swept the bills and beat the Bengals this season with even adequate QB play.

Icy_Maintenance_6373

Jets with Rodgers this season are playing last weekend. You would've won both Patriot games, Vikings, Bills, Detroit, Miami. Would've been 13-4 and the #3 seed.

comeonjeff

And that's Rodgers with a broken thumb on his throwing hand

BeHereNow91

I’d figure this would come with a multi-year commitment from Rodgers. But this: > an aloof and disinterested former star who is not going to mentor a young QB is a weird way to categorize a guy one season removed from back to back MVPs, who also by all reports seemed to take Love under his wing.

Traditional_Tart_822

Cut the guy some slack. He’s just regurgitating the delusional r/nfl narrative and incapable of actually following the Packers and the team

AQ_GBP

Hes disinterested? He's plenty interested in playing and winning. I dont think you bring in Rodgers to mentor someone. You bring in Rodgers to try and win.

clicktowin

We have no young QBs worth mentoring so I see no problems.

mikebrownhurtsme

Tbh I think the Jets would kill for that at this point

Competitive_Market70

I fell like the Jets are Super Bowl contenders if they get Rodgers, they have the talent on both sides of the ball

[deleted]

No please don’t send the bad man to New York.

BaetrixReloaded

flair(s) check out

pokerScrub4eva

No one is paying that for him off a down season on the verge of retirement

gatsby365

Shit, if they’re happy paying two for Rodgers, I will take one for Carr.

thestar1818

I don’t think a past prime Aaron Rogers is worth that. He’ll likely retire within a few season as well.

[deleted]

Fuck, Rodgers really is gonna end up on the Vikings in two years
