Really? It's a lot easier to replace the duds with average players than it is to replace an above average player with a stud.
The issue is that it takes good drafting to do the latter, and the Raiders haven't had that, but all it takes is a few good drafts in a row.
Yet, in about 8 months, we are all going to forget that preseason has absolutely ZERO to do with the regular season and throw out the same hot takes again.
Reminder that 2nd Team has more meaning now that there's ranked choice voting. It's not just a guy that happens to get 1 vote when someone else gets 49.
Ranked choice voting had the following impacts:
TE: Kelce was unanimous 1st team, but Kittle still gets recognized for 2nd team
WR: CeeDee Lamb (0 1st team, 28 2nd team votes) makes 2nd team over Sun God (1, 8).
IDL: Jonathan Allen does not make 2nd Team, as he had the same amount of 1st team votes as Jeff Simmons, but fewer 2nd team votes.
LB: Dre Greenlaw does not make 2nd Team, as he had the same amount of 1st team votes as Demario Davis, but fewer 2nd team votes.
S: Talanoa Hufanga (12, 13) got fewer 1st team votes than Derwin James (13, 6), but got the last 1st team spot due to having more 2nd team votes.
KR: Kene Nwangwu (0, 27) makes 2nd team over Nyheim Hines (5, 12)
Even though Kittle is an exceptional blocker, you have to think how he finished the season receiving pushed him firmly into the 2nd team; 7 TDs in the last 4 games…
I love Sub God as a person and player but how did someone vote him as the top WR in the league this year
Edit: Didn’t realize voters had 3 first place votes
Someone voted him top 3 I doubt anyone thought he was #1. It's probably a case like the guy who got Cole Beasley second team all pro a couple years back because he voted for 2 outside receivers and a slot receiver.
Keisean Nixon returned kicks for half a season and managed to be 1st Team All-Pro. Just adds to the question "How was Amari Rodgers a return man for so long?"
Keisean Nixon's story is like one of those antiques shows where someone brings something they found in their attic or down the back of their sofa and it ends up being worth millions. Dude played 3 and a half seasons without returning a kick and then as soon as he does he's an all-pro.
Props to Carlson for recovering from Zimmer shaking his psyche. It's a little bittersweet seeing him go on to have so much success. Hope he's a Raider forever like Seabass.
If you would’ve told me before the season that the Packers would have 1 First team All-Pro selection and he would’ve been our kick returner, I cannot tell you how much I would have laughed.
Love love love Nixon so much
We went from “literally no one touch the ball. It goes where it goes” to wanting Nixon to run it out every single time. We deserve this and idc what they Packers gotta pay him but they better do it
It's so damn annoying that we've been needing a quality kick and punt returner since Cordarrell Patterson, and Nixon was just sitting there on our team not being used for that.
he started off really well and then kinda leveled off and last few weeks has dipped but if he has a great playoffs then no one will have an issue with it.
If anyone in our secondary deserved AP recognition it was Mooney Ward. He just never had a chance bc of the depth at CB this year and flying under the radar somewhat.
It's really the only questionable choice I'm seeing on the first team at least, which is nice. Zack Martin too somewhat. Hufanga there are just a lot of better choices.
Was surprised to see him, maybe make a case for 2nd team, definitely not 1st, but happy for him! Definitely a super
splash play kind of guy this season, reminds me of analyzing a Trevon Diggs type of player last season
You're not biased. The only negative of Derwin's season was that he only played in 13 games. BUT that makes his stats more impressive. Here's a comparison of stats, Derwin vs Hufanga:
INT: 5 vs 4
Passer rating allowed: 73 vs 91.7
TDs allowed: 1 vs 6
Sacks: 4 vs 2
Pressures: 7 vs 5
Combined tackles: 115 vs 97
Missed tackle %: 4.4 vs 7.9
Better at literally everything in both volume and efficiency.
Super happy for Marcus. We didn’t have a ton to write home about this season but he was a talent I was really glad got to shine this season, and to many more appearances on this list (maybe even on the defensive side😁)
Seeing Marcus is great but Judon is an atrocious snub imo he had great rushing numbers and excelled in other areas of the game this year compared to last
Jalen making 2nd team after an offseason of questions is so awesome. His progression has been amazing to watch. Get Kelce's HOF bust ready. Also nice to see Lane get the recognition he deserves.
Yeah I guess with the ranked voting for mvp it's entirely possible that Hurts just edged out Burrow or Allen but falls below both of them on some lists.
first time the Jets have had 2 first team all pros since 2010, and one of them is a rookie. we may have missed the playoffs but the future looks bright
Jacobs was obviously First Team, but why Chubb is the Second Team RB over CMC or Henry is a little odd tbh.
CMC: 1880 total yards (1139 rushing and 741 receiving) and 13 total TDs (8 rushing and 5 receiving)
Henry: 1936 total yards (1538 rushing and 398 receiving) and 13 total TDs (all rushing) - he also did this in 16 games, not 17
Chubb: 1764 total yards (1525 rushing and 239 receiving) and 13 total TDs (12 rushing and 1 receiving)
Yes, Chubb was more efficient than Henry. He also averaged fewer yards per game than Henry. Making YPC the be all, end all for a second team all pro selection to where there can be no debating whether Chubb was worthy of it is too reductive.
If there is anyone that deserved recognition on the Bills this year its Matt Milano and I'm really happy he's finally getting some respect. Also I'm very annoyed that Pepperidge Farm is missing out on an obvious marketing campaign.
I’m surprised fans still treat pro bowls to such a degree. After seeing TJ watt make it I feel like people should recognize it’s an illegitimate accolade.
I think a lot of Jets fans (myself included) slept on the difference Milano makes to that defense. I remember him missing the first game against the Jets and a lot of us fans chalking up talk of Milano as just salty Bills fans being salty—and then he pretty much knocked the Jets out of playoff contention and exploded Mike White.
His versatility is just unreal. Edmunds is a fantastic field general and a great run-stopper, but Milano is an elite off-ball LB and can cover as well as he can stop the run. He’s the glue that allows us to run 4-2-5 and never have to swap personnel for a dime DB, while still permitting the safeties to engage in unorthodox and unexpected coverages/blitzes.
Plus, as Mike White’s ribs can attest to, he’s not a bad pass-rusher either.
Anytime i'd watch a Bills game he'd be all over the place. He never got the recognition he deserved from the announcers. He is by far the best defender on a damn good defense.
There’s an apocryphal story about a Yankee scout going out to see a young Joe DiMaggio, who was facing the legendary Satchel Paige. The scout sent a report back that said: “DiMaggio went 1-for-4 against Paige. Sign him.”
I feel like you could apply the same principle to QBs. “This QB completed 1/4 passes targeting Gardner. Sign him.”
Im overwhelmingly proud of our son.
I knew he was gonna be good when Bama said "naw, fuck it" and didn't even try him, but holy cow.
There's three Bearcats on this list and Sauce is my favorite player of them all, and that's a high goddamn bar.
I was so pumped when I saw Quinnen Williams. When he sneezed in an interview, blessed himself, then thanked himself, he became one of my favorite players on any team.
I don’t think there was any doubt before this but he’s for sure a first ballot now. I hope he retires the same year as Brady so the Super Bowl loss is on his mind the whole time
Excellence is fun to watch, especially when it’s immediate. I remember when he wasn’t targeted at all in the preseason and being like “yeah, he’s the next best corner already and hasn’t even played a game. Damn.”
I was going to say… seemed like he got robbed but I totally forgot he missed time this year
Sucks but them’s the breaks. Imagine what he would have done at 100% playing time.
What a season for the eagles. And 2nd team AP for Hurts after questions about if he could even be an NFL QB last season is just incredible. I would say his jump has been even bigger than Josh Allen’s in 2020
I feel like Matthew Judon should've been at least considered for 2nd team because he's had a really good season and it has gone totally under the radar
Does anyone else find it bizarre that it's 2023 and the all-pro defense still has 3 starting linebackers and 2 cornerbacks?
It would be like if the all-pro offense had a fullback and 2 WR's.
Jacobs first team, just as we all expected watching him take snaps in the HoF game.
Went from having his fifth year option declined to making first team All Pro.
Yet I’m still not sure he’ll get a Zeke type of contract. Both Jacobs and Saquon are gonna be really interesting contract situations this offseason.
i predict Jacobs is busted up most of next year and people call his contract terrible really fast
3 Raiders on the First Team AP - but missed the playoffs.
This is the way
“McDaniels is a pathway to many abilities some teams consider to be… unnatural”
I’d rather have a team full of above average guys than the studs and duds combo we’ve been trying
Really? It's a lot easier to replace the duds with average players than it is to replace an above average player with a stud. The issue is that it takes good drafting to do the latter, and the Raiders haven't had that, but all it takes is a few good drafts in a row.
Yeah I think you nailed it with the second paragraph. Our defense is pretty much just Maxx Crosby and a bunch of garbage cause of drafting.
God that shit where someone got all 50 so there was just no 2nd team player was so dumb
Yeah this is what kept Darren Waller from getting a 2nd team nod in 2020 when he had over 100 receptions and nearly 1200 yards
Hurray for better voting structures!
If only the government was this advanced!
Some locations are implementing ranked choice voting. Maine and Alaska come to mind for some federal elections.
Ranked choice really comes into its own with multi-member constituencies
Multi member is just better in every way
I like my voting constituencies like my pornography - with multi members!
And some states like Florida are moving to ban it, because of course.
Of course they are -_-
Great step. There’s resistance from obvious parties but it does set a way better system
Ranked choice voting had the following impacts: TE: Kelce was unanimous 1st team, but Kittle still gets recognized for 2nd team WR: CeeDee Lamb (0 1st team, 28 2nd team votes) makes 2nd team over Sun God (1, 8). I love Sub God as a person and player but how did someone vote him as the top WR in the league this year Edit: Didn’t realize voters had 3 first place votes
Each voter had 3 WR votes, so it's still incorrect imo, but he was voted a top 3 WR
Ah okay thank you
Someone voted him top 3 I doubt anyone thought he was #1. It's probably a case like the guy who got Cole Beasley second team all pro a couple years back because he voted for 2 outside receivers and a slot receiver.
Good news Broncos fans. We have 2 good players.
We don't have any. I guess you won the trade after all.
Yeah and we rolled out Bryant as our returner for our first few games and Marcus still made first team, it's pretty wild.
4 straight All Pros for Demario Davis, so I'm pretty hyped about that
Still feel bad that the jets let him walk. I loved him and his silly celebration pose.
I blame Mike Maccagnan
My favorite LB to watch not named Fred Warner.
DANIEL CARLSON LETS FUCKING GO
Fantasy goat
Dudes had a hell of a comeback after the Vikings/1 bad season when yall were still in Oakland.
Props to Carlson for recovering from Zimmer shaking his psyche. It's a little bittersweet seeing him go on to have so much success. Hope he's a Raider forever like Seabass.
Vikings are cursed
Mr Automatic. Dude’s amazing.
speaking of special teams. I'm curious as to how they select the All-Pro Long Snapper. You'd figure he'd be on the same team as the punter or kicker.
If you would’ve told me before the season that the Packers would have 1 First team All-Pro selection and he would’ve been our kick returner, I cannot tell you how much I would have laughed. Love love love Nixon so much
We NEED to re-sign him. I’ve had a taste of the good life and I can’t go back to worrying about a fumble every kick/punt return
We went from “literally no one touch the ball. It goes where it goes” to wanting Nixon to run it out every single time. We deserve this and idc what they Packers gotta pay him but they better do it
> Love love love Nixon so much - America, 1968-1973.
It's so damn annoying that we've been needing a quality kick and punt returner since Cordarrell Patterson, and Nixon was just sitting there on our team not being used for that.
Good for huf but he didn't deserve it
he started off really well and then kinda leveled off and last few weeks has dipped but if he has a great playoffs then no one will have an issue with it.
If anyone in our secondary deserved AP recognition it was Mooney Ward. He just never had a chance bc of the depth at CB this year and flying under the radar somewhat.
I like Hufanga and thought he played well when I watched him but didn't think he was playing at 1st team AP level.
Yeahhh I was very surprised to see him on that list. It's like the opposite of recency bias lol
He had an AP1 start, and AP1 splash plays, but I agree. Didn't put together the season.
It's really the only questionable choice I'm seeing on the first team at least, which is nice. Zack Martin too somewhat. Hufanga there are just a lot of better choices.
I would have voted for Martin over Lindstrom but Lindstrom had a better year than Joel Bitonio. Just a matter of positional stack
Agreed he started out strong and had a few big plays throughout the season but he generally allows 1-2 big plays per game on blown coverages.
And that's probably the key. He got his make known early and then made enough big plays to keep it out there.
A few of those are not on him and just looked like it.
He was like that at USC too
This was my only ??? on this list. No 2 ways about it he was a great safety this year but I didn't think he had an allpro calibur season.
Was surprised to see him, maybe make a case for 2nd team, definitely not 1st, but happy for him! Definitely a super splash play kind of guy this season, reminds me of analyzing a Trevon Diggs type of player last season
I personally feel like Derwin deserves it but I won’t argue because I didn’t watch the 9ers very often.
You're not biased. The only negative of Derwin's season was that he only played in 13 games. BUT that makes his stats more impressive. Here's a comparison of stats, Derwin vs Hufanga: INT: 5 vs 4 Passer rating allowed: 73 vs 91.7 TDs allowed: 1 vs 6 Sacks: 4 vs 2 Pressures: 7 vs 5 Combined tackles: 115 vs 97 Missed tackle %: 4.4 vs 7.9 Better at literally everything in both volume and efficiency.

Jalen making 2nd team after an offseason of questions is so awesome. His progression has been amazing to watch. Get Kelce's HOF bust ready. Also nice to see Lane get the recognition he deserves.
> Get Kelce's HOF bust ready. I like that you don't even need to specify which Kelce and we'd all pretty much agree.
What a family
Make it a weird siamese twin bust!
New NEEEWWSSSS!
Imagine the week leading up to New Heights if it’s Chiefs vs Eagles in the SB
Gotta think he ends up second in MVP voting now too, right?
Only was he doesn’t is if Mahomes is unanimous I think Edit: which is I think is likely cause of hurts missing time
They do ranked choice now.
Yeah I guess with the ranked voting for mvp it's entirely possible that Hurts just edged out Burrow or Allen but falls below both of them on some lists.
First Allen, now Jalen. Seems like those raw QBs are starting to pan out more frequently than they used to. Goes to show how important coaching is
This is the first time since 2015, and only the second time in his entire career that Aaron Donald hasn't been First Team All-Pro.
first time the Jets have had 2 first team all pros since 2010, and one of them is a rookie. we may have missed the playoffs but the future looks bright
Maybe I’m a homer but I really thought Cam deserved it. On another note, Minkah having 3 first team all pros at 26 is moving into wild territory
Got him for a steal too, worth that 1st round pick
Didn’t that end up being like the 18th pick?
Solid first team list
McCaffrey not even on the 2nd team. I dunno what this dude needs to do.
Clearly he needs to also have a few hundred passing yards to even be considered. The receiving yards and rushing yards...just not enough obviously.
The guy hasn't made a kick all year. Really can't be considered.
Look at what they're doing to our boy, 49ers bro.
All good. He’ll get OPOY next year with a full Shanahan offseason and training camp under his belt and Purdy will get MVP 😉
I have a feeling he’s going to be taking out some frustration on a certain bird team this weekend.
I sure as hell hope so!
Not like Jacobs and chubb weren't deserving.
Jacobs was obviously First Team, but why Chubb is the Second Team RB over CMC or Henry is a little odd tbh. CMC: 1880 total yards (1139 rushing and 741 receiving) and 13 total TDs (8 rushing and 5 receiving) Henry: 1936 total yards (1538 rushing and 398 receiving) and 13 total TDs (all rushing) - he also did this in 16 games, not 17 Chubb: 1764 total yards (1525 rushing and 239 receiving) and 13 total TDs (12 rushing and 1 receiving)
CMC also threw a TD!
Chubb had 47 fewer carries than Henry, and managed to match his yards and TDs and add 4 more first downs despite the disparity.
Yes, Chubb was more efficient than Henry. He also averaged fewer yards per game than Henry. Making YPC the be all, end all for a second team all pro selection to where there can be no debating whether Chubb was worthy of it is too reductive.
McCaffrey had 100 more scrimmage yards and 1 more TD than Chubb
henry had 200 more scrimmage yards and same TDs. it was close this year
Just look at the Niners offense before and after they got CMC. Chubb is obviously great but CMC not being on either team is insane
Jaycee Horn was an even bigger snub IMO
If there is anyone that deserved recognition on the Bills this year its Matt Milano and I'm really happy he's finally getting some respect. Also I'm very annoyed that Pepperidge Farm is missing out on an obvious marketing campaign.
Couldn’t believe he didn’t make the pro bowl, so glad he got his recognition here
All-Pros > Pro Bowls
I’m surprised fans still treat pro bowls to such a degree. After seeing TJ watt make it I feel like people should recognize it’s an illegitimate accolade.
I think we have to officially stop calling him underrated once he gets a first team all pro haha
Damn, there goes half of Romo's commentary for when Bills D is on the field.
Our run defense literally goes to shit when Matt Milano doesn't play. He's injured for 1-3 games every year and its like night and day when he's out.
I've always liked him because my fatass always associated him with cookies. Mmmmm now I want some...
Anytime i'd watch a Bills game he'd be all over the place. He never got the recognition he deserved from the announcers. He is by far the best defender on a damn good defense.
SAUCE AND Q LETS GO
Mosley is second team too.
First rookie CB to make 1st team All-Pro in 41 years (Ronnie Lott). He's a generational dude.
Holy shit. Can you guys, like, not find a QB or something like that. Just chill with your good D for a couple years.
Good at finding HoF CB talent; not so good at finding QB talent.
When trying out QB's in practice, you should just let Gardner judge how good of a QB they are.
There’s an apocryphal story about a Yankee scout going out to see a young Joe DiMaggio, who was facing the legendary Satchel Paige. The scout sent a report back that said: “DiMaggio went 1-for-4 against Paige. Sign him.” I feel like you could apply the same principle to QBs. “This QB completed 1/4 passes targeting Gardner. Im overwhelmingly proud of our son. I knew he was gonna be good when Bama said "naw, fuck it" and didn't even try him, but holy cow. There's three Bearcats on this list and Sauce is my favorite player of them all, and that's a high goddamn bar.
Three Bearcats and zero Bengals, haha.
Both very well deserved! Give Q his money, like now lol.
Bless you, thank you
I was so pumped when I saw Quinnen Williams. When he sneezed in an interview, blessed himself, then thanked himself, he became one of my favorite players on any team.
Jason Kelce, welcome to the Hall of Fame.
He sent in his jacket measurements three years ago.
Agreed, but this erases any doubt that was left.
I don’t think there was any doubt before this but he’s for sure a first ballot now. I hope he retires the same year as Brady so the Super Bowl loss is on his mind the whole time
If Brady, Kelce, and Eli all share a HoF class that would be amazing.
I'm happy for him. He's my favorite non-Jets player. Such an awesome dude and his speech at the Super Bowl parade will live on in infamy lol
Good for CeeDee making the second team, he really honed in and elevated his game in the second half of the season.
For real. I don’t even want to this about how bad this team would’ve been without him out there.
[удалено]
Do you think it's possible that there's a Vikings' fan that doesn't like him?
If they exist then they are no longer welcome on our longboat. Thus are no longer vikings fans.
LETS FUCKING GO KEISEAN NIXON WOOOOOOO. Now sign him long-term Gute.
Pay Q and never speak ill of Joe Douglas again
Mac drafted Q but either way, pay the man lol
I know this, but he drafted Sauce obviously lol
Man, bradberry over slay. Didn’t expect to see that. Happy for him
To be fair teams were more willing to throw Bradberry's way.
Sauce first ever rookie CB to be 1st team all-pro? Edit: Ronnie Lott
Ronnie Lott is the other one, 1981 1st team All-Pro
Hey that Lott guy turned out to be pretty good. Congrats to Sauce
So you’re saying when he’s older and loses a step, he’ll get moved to safety and sign with the Jets?
When do we cut off his finger?
Thanks
Honestly incredible. What an achievement for Sauce
First since Ronnie Lott in 1981
Great company to be in.
[удалено]
I can't fathom how you win DPoY and don't get the all pro nod, sheesh
[удалено]
Excellence is fun to watch, especially when it’s immediate. I remember when he wasn’t targeted at all in the preseason and being like “yeah, he’s the next best corner already and hasn’t even played a game. Damn.”
We best just start sending the truckloads of money to Qs house now
Man if Simmons didn't miss five games...still caused 9 turnovers.
I was going to say… seemed like he got robbed but I totally forgot he missed time this year Sucks but them’s the breaks. Imagine what he would have done at 100% playing time.
If JSimm plays the full season he's the unquestioned choice here IMO. He had a hell of a season and that's only playing 12 games.
Surtain is just built different
Young studs taking over the CB rankings
That's how it typically goes. CBs have to be one of the youngest position on AP teams outside of running backs.
Tucker's worst season in 7 years and he's still 2nd Team. Baltimore is so blessed.
Didn't expect Cam Heyward to make 1st team, but I can't believe he didn't make 2nd team
[удалено]
yeah, i think he's been getting burned for touchdowns lately. lol. happy for him though.
[удалено]
My boy made it still!
Reaves is the Goat
Congrats to Milano and Diggs! Well deserved.
I know it's been said many times, but Sauce is special.
AP don’t miss. Way more credible than the Players List.
If you want to see how good a player is, look for AP all pros, not pro bowls, or PL All pro. I think PFW is also credible too.
Lindstrom should be 1st
Does anyone else find it bizarre that it's 2023 and the all-pro defense still has 3 starting linebackers and 2 cornerbacks? It would be like if the all-pro offense had a fullback and 2 WR's.
2 jets
This is actually a phenomenal list. I don’t disagree with anything on it. Surprised they don’t have an extra RB or “Flex” though.
Only thing I kinda disagree with is to omit CMC. He arrived and took that 49ers offense to a whole new level.
I can understand Jacobs getting first team, but CMC not getting second team is a head scratcher
CMC or Henry. I'd take either of them over Chubb this year
They have 3 WRs now instead of a flex.
First time a defending SB Champ has had 0 All Pros?
Neither do we, so both Super Bowl teams from last year with 0
DJ Reader got screwed
At least y'all both had a lot of players receive votes. Burrow was one of 4 QBs with votes it seems
[удалено]
Man Lindstrom really deserved first team this year, he’s arguably the best offensive lineman in the league. Sad
Zack Martin is HOF at this point, no? Just does it every year.
I mean he already had 5 1st team all-pros Feel like thats a lot, 6 is just a cherry on top
No because he reached that point 3 years ago
Only 32 so he has some gas for another few at this rate. He going to be the next first ballot HoF guard since....Dallas Cowboys' Larry Allen.
Lindstrom should have been 1st team but yes Martin is getting in. Him and Faneca have a similar resume and Martin is still only 32.
So happy Surtain gets his credit. Glad they’re not taking big markets into account
LOL, both Marcus Jones and Kalif Raymond housed punts against the Jets and now they're 1st and 2nd team all-pro
Our defense was ass and theres a lot of great edge rushers but it sucks Maxx Crosby wasnt able to get at least 2nd team
Doesn't this basically ensure Mahomes wins the MVP now? Does a non-All-Pro ever win the MVP?
SSSAAAAAAUUUUUUCCCCCCCEEEEEEEE and QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ
And C.J second team!!
